The launcher is fine and it’s fully updated, I managed to log in, but when I press “Play” the launcher simply closes and nothing happens.
I should mention this actually started happening months ago but I was burned out from the game and didn’t care so I just uninstalled it. Now I reinstalled it and the problem is still there.
I’ve tried it on a different PC and it ran fine without any problems, so it’s not an account issue. Both PCs are running Windows 10 and I used the 64 bit version of the game for both of them, so no obvious reason comes to mind as to why it’s not working on this PC.
Ideas?
EDIT: The problem has been fixed. Compatibility issues with MSI Afterburner and Rivatuner.
If you click on the meta achievement, it tells you exactly what you need in order to complete it, so this is mostly on you not paying attention.

It’s been established as a norm that not all achievements in a given tab progress the meta achievement, such as not all A Crack in the Ice achis progress the meta there either. Oh well, atleast now you know to look for this in the future.

Why is there nothing saying that the “League Profession – Champion” achievements don’t count towards the “Path of the Ascension” achievement? I went from ~65% win ratio to probably under 50% and went from halfway through Gold 2 to almost Silver 3 because I kept trying to get 7 wins with professions I can’t even play, and now I realise it doesn’t count towards that achievement.
Just… Why?! Why is it even there if it’s not being counted?! God kittening kitten.
You have to select Tempest (or whatever else elite you’re trying) on your specializations. It won’t be available in the first or second one, only the third.

There are certain things that don’t require practice, this is one of them. Worst of all is that it could be avoided if people read the chat and listened to other players, they choose to ignore what others say because logic be kitten ed.

Very well said. People can say it’s his fault and he should still try, but in the end it would only prolong his misery.
Also, having low MMR doesn’t always mean you’re an idiot. I’m a very bad player mechanically so I’ll never have a high MMR, but I’ve played enough to understand basic tactics so it really pains me when I have teams like this, and I would’ve done exactly what he did in this situation.

Yup. It’s very frustrating. The worst of all is that you can actually tell you’re gonna lose before the game starts, the class stacking is off the charts with 3-4 thieves per game.
I’m generally fine with everything, but passives that make you immortal are complete bullkitten. And I’m not talking about regens, I’m talking about things like Warrior’s Defy Pain or Engineer’s Elixer S auto-thingy. Those things are bullkitten.

PvP teams in Gw2 function extremely socially. New players get recruited off of FL or after meeting in queues (especially higher up).
That does not mean, that these teams don’t check the forums or that they don’t post there themselves (during S01 and at the start of S02 there was a lot of traffic from both teams and players.
However, people will always much rather contact you in game whether you are a player or a team =)
I see, by any chance, does it work the same way for PvP guilds? I’ve been searching for a long time, but other than YuM which has certain requirements (750+ ranked games for example) I have yet to see a PvP EU guild recruiting on forums/reddit.

I’m a casual player, not a very good one but I have basic understanding of the game.
I realise there’s not a lot of PvP only guilds in EU so I guess I can’t ask for too much, but I don’t want people raging at me or anyone else for losing games, so I guess a casual/mature guild would be neat.
If it matters, I’m from Portugal, looking for an english only guild though.
There are some servers exclusively intended for 1v1s. I am playing on EU and we have a server named “1v1 – The Great Arena” (without caps). People on the server spar with each other. Haven’t found any other server like that tho.

How “newbe” friendly is it? I’m not actually a newbe, I’m just complete kitten.
Generally speaking, I find dueling to be the best way to improve, at least for a solo player. You can find duel servers pretty easily in the custom arenas, and there are almost always some people there running some of the more popular builds. It’s not really necessary to make one of every profession (though it’s not a bad idea, either) when you can just duel people repeatedly to learn what their builds do and improve your familiarity with the mechanics at the same time. Ultimately there aren’t really any shortcuts though, just the accumulation of experience.
What kind of 1vs1 servers exacatly? King of the Hill or is there something different? I’ve only tried KotH ones and the same thing always happens:

Die in 5-20 seconds to someone who is obviously used to doing 1vs1
I’m on the exact same page. I’m generally very good at video games, from Dragon Nest to Dark Souls, everything always felt very easy to me, specially when it comes to timing dodges, but I just can’t seem to get good at Guild Wars 2, more specifically PvP.
I’m rank 80 with probably close to 1000 games and I feel like I’m just as bad as I was when I was starting out. I’ve tried going to 1vs1 duel servers, but everyone there is already way beyond my level and I just get smashed into the ground within seconds.
Worst of everything, I could never find anyone to practice or play with other than friends I met outside the game who have long stopped playing or PvE players who are even worse than me and don’t actually want to play more than a game or 2 a day.
Yes, it really is terrible. I haven’t gotten out of Amber yet because I can’t bother at playing more than an hour or 2 a day, but I’ve done over 10 games and the result is always the same. Stomp or get stomped 500-100.
Do you want the best build, or a short bow build? And do you want the best possible SB build? Because literally anything will work for exploring open world core Tyria, so take what you find fun.
Best possible core-game SB build is probably full sinister gear with axe/torch. Check out this build for an idea, and ditch the spirits for solo play.
Sorry, should’ve specified, best possible SB in terms of damage. I’m not new by any means, just to Ranger, so I just want to speed up the killing process. I really want to use either SB or LB, but LB seems a tad too slow for open world.
I’ve made this kind of videos and worked with other people doing them as well, it can be very hard and tedious at times, specially if you actually want to make it professional looking, most people who start this kind of projects end up giving up halfway through.
Also, are you from NA or EU? Can’t really ask for help without stating it.
Howdy, I’ve been looking for a guild for a while, this seems like a nice one.
I’m not extremely active, but I usually play at least 2-3 hours every day during the week, weekends can be a lot more or a lot less, depending on real life plans.
I mostly do sPvP though, even though I’m not particularly good at it. Don’t mind doing some PvE if it involves other people though.
boons like slow or quickness messing up stomp rly hard, that’s the source of the problem mostly
I main Thief so I only experienced the bug against Revenants (the downed skill slows you), today I decided to try out Mesmer and failed 3 stomps in a row while using quickness, so you’re right, it’s the quickness/slow that messes it up.
Yeah… There is seriously something wrong with DH. I rolled one just to experience it in first hand. It’s ludicrous how you hit 8k+ damage with a 4 seconds CD skill. Sure it’s easy to dodge, but when you’re on a team fight there’s only so many times you can dodge/block attacks.
on a serious note i saw some seriously good daredevils in pvp and i mean seriously good ones. nuking your healtbar while you barely can hit them and when you finaly almost take one down the will just run away like half the map and come back in seconds and continue to nuke you down….
That’s the problem. You see a Thief destroying someone and you just assume he’s seriously good. Meanwhile other professions nuke down everyone just by pressing 2 or 3 keys and you don’t think even for a second that they’re any good.
PvP Programmer Evan Lesh (Bluxgore) told me the reason is because some people would miss their queue window of 15 seconds to hit accept if the queue prompt popped during a loading screen.
This could be fixed by forcing players to stay in the map where they queued up at.
If you just keep progressing 100% of the time, even if you lose every single game, what sense does it make? It’ll only make it more boring for the actual high tier people who don’t play as often but actually win when they do.

I’m still relatively new to sPvP, and I am not good at it. That being said, I still have fun at it and want to get better, tired of playing with random people though, so I want others to play with.
My play times are pretty random and I already have a guild for PvE/WvW related activities, so not interested in those, I play a Thief, if it matters.
It feels pretty broken to me. I’m pretty new to PvP, but most of the times I either destroy or get destroyed by the other team, balanced games are quite rare :/
It’s also incredible how often I run into full pre-made teams while solo queuing.
I’m currently located in Whiteside Ridge, but things are not what they used to be… I’m looking for an active server where small scale roaming (2 to 10 people max), are there any good European servers like that?
Well, it would be mostly small groups, 2 to 5 people (me included), and sometimes joining Zergs. Solo play is something I’m not interested in as I already have a character to do that with.
