Invisible Shoes! What the?!

The idea of invisible shoes isn’t a bad one, even though I’d rather they be a simple toggle, but gating them behind a ludicrous drop rate was a bad decision.

They should have been something like nightfury or winter’s presence.

It’s really not too surprising. People assumed HoT didn’t do very well, but the latest ncsoft conference call all but confirms it. Revenue for the two quarters during HoT presales and release were generated mostly by gem sales. That’s telling.

My old guild basically died leading up to HoT release. Most of them left the game once pricing for HoT was announced. The rest were waiting on reviews after release, and most of those people never came back.

Nope.

This is actually incorrect. Here’s a reddit post that does a good job of explaining.

tldr – if you want full stats when you go into shroud, you need scepters in both slots.

interesting… how big is the difference?

Depends when you go into shroud. If you go into shroud with the set without the scepter, you’ll lose all stats and the sigil that come from the scepter.

Problem with roaming Druid

in WvW

Posted by: femalehumanmeta.8351

femalehumanmeta.8351

To be honest, current druid is not that susceptible to CC. We have multiple good stun-breaker skills.

For example, my utility bar consists of signet of renewal, protect me and glyph of equality. They are all good stunbreakers with reasonably low CD. There is also this ultimate reset button called celestial avatar form that breaks stun when traited. In addition, I can get pulsing stability from Strength of the Pack.

All of these together makes it actually quite hard to lock down a druid.

This.

Also, I had been arguing this in the Ranger forum about how this particular build is next to impossible to kill and not at all hard to play. But of course, everyone got defensive because I insinuated the idea of having their cheese build taken away from them, and I’m also a Ranger…

I’ve been running in to this build pretty much everywhere. There are two in particular on YB who as I hear, are rather famous for their trolling (and also racist apparently?). I’ve just opted to not fight these builds at all. If I see a Druid I drill a few hits in to them and if I see that they’re tanky, I disengage and get out. It’s built to be able to faceroll 1v1’s, win 1v2’s, skirmish with 1v3’s and troll 1v4 – 6. In other words, unless you’re ganking it it’s probably not going to die so it’s not worth your time to bother with it. I consider it what the old D/D Cele Ele was – a very long, very boring fight with all the advantage on their end.

Here’s a video I took of 3 people fighting this build.

Bear in mind (lol) I was not engaging because I’ve fought this guy and seen him fight many times. He knows I’ll just ignore him so he doesn’t pay attention to me watching it. Also note that he gains Shocking Aura when using SotP which means he’s using Runes of Leadership not Soldier.

I’ve seen that druids stream on twitch. He is not running the shout trooper build from metabattle.

He uses surging runes, not leadership. Also, afaik, he’s in full ascended celestial gear.

Do you need more bloodstone dust?

in WvW

femalehumanmeta.8351

I never use Dragonite, Empyreal or Bloodstone. I’ve got 50 bricks, stones and stars in my bank just in case I ever need them but otherwise, I throw it all out.

I’d be happy if there was some kind of ascended food recipe that required these materials though. Food/Utility food that lasted an hour with slightly higher benefits or something. Considering just about everyone uses food buffs in WvW, it seems to me like it would be an acceptable alternative.

If you have stacks and stacks of bloodstone dust, you should look into crafting toxic focusing crystals. You can make around ~90 silver per 100 bloodstone dust crafting and selling this stuff.

I open all my reward track loot on a lower level char, so I’m always short on bloodstone dust.

Zerg Busting, still a thing?

in WvW

femalehumanmeta.8351

I do have to say in the current match, Mag is the omniblob. On reset a Kill group split up into 3 groups surrounding us and each one of them was as big as our single group lol.

What I wish is that the organized groups would all go to the higher tiers so we disorganized pugs can fight each other. Its great fun when everyone is disorganized. But when you put an orgainized group in the mix it ruins it. Some of the funnest times in WvW were in Beta when everyone was like level 10 and no one knew what to do.

On some of my lower tier alt accounts, I see quite a few guilds with lots of veteran wvwers (ie. plat/mithril rank) running around in small havoc groups stomping on all the pugs. They’re able to take on pug groups like double their size with relative ease. It’s kinda sad and hilarious at the same time.

Permit duplicates of permanent tools

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: femalehumanmeta.8351

femalehumanmeta.8351

I have one full set of infinite gathering tools, and considering their cost, the “convenience” they provide is negligible, especially since I frequently play different characters.

Currently, the only way to make my infinite tools a little less inconvenient is by purchasing three shared inventory slots, but the cost becomes absurd. The total cost for the shared slots and the tools would be $61.13, and you still have to constantly move the tools in and out of the shared slots whenever you play a different character.

For that amount of money, I’d expect full convenience, not less inconvenience.

The CS Team has been very helpful replacing lost/destroyed items, no matter the value. You can find dozens of threads about it here on the forums, alone.

Please point me to the dozens of threads where items of high value (ie. 50+ gold) that were lost were reimbursed by the cs team.

Search on these forums don’t work, and I have a hard time believing they’d replace lost items of high value when their records aren’t able to verify the loss.

guild bank ate my items!

femalehumanmeta.8351

This happened to me as well. I lost 100 bolts of wool. I was having item lag at the time, but items I transfer to my guild bank that don’t show up immediately usually show up when I move more items into my guild bank. Unfortunately, the 100 bolts of wool I transferred never reappeared.

I contacted support and they reimbursed me. They said there was no record of the loss, but replaced my items anyway. That’s very concerning. If it had been something more expensive than 100 bolts of wool, would they have so quickly replaced my lost items? I’m not so sure.

I frequently transfer items from my main account to my alt accounts through my personal guild bank, and this is the first time something like this has happened.

Is GW2 dying? Just a question, no hate

From my point of view the game is more populated now than back then.

If you think the game is more populated now than at launch, why does Anet not give us more concrete player population numbers like the peak concurrent user figures they included in their “the first year” blog post? It’s definitely not because there are more people playing the game.

Anet has never given those numbers, so concluding there is a correlation between them releasing those numbers and the health of the game is bad.

The blog post I linked do include those numbers. At the peak of the games popularity, during the first year, there were 460k concurrent users. Anet haven’t released concrete player population numbers like that since.

I’m not bashing the game, I like the game. Still do. I preordered hot and got my money’s worth, but to deny the changes they’ve made over the years like introducing megaservers (just a fancy word for server merging), wvw server merging, and the game going f2p (it’s not a coincidence they announced f2p after ncsofts most recent quarterly earnings report at the time had gw2 revenue at it’s lowest since launch), being a direct result of player population issues.

Only Anet knows how much the player population has dropped off, but it should be obvious to most that it has happened.

I doubt the game is “dying”, but the player base has unarguably dropped off since launch. How much? Only Anet knows, and they’re definitely not going to be making those figures public.

There are three obvious changes to the game since launch that indicate the player base has decreased. Megaservers, wvw server merging, and the game going F2P. You could also make an argument that login rewards and changes to the daily system are also indicative of player population issues, but those changes aren’t as obvious.

I couldn’t agree more. What’s even worse is the amulets you get from doing story achievements aren’t even unlocked at the laurel vendor, so if you were unfortunate enough to have suffered through the buggy mess that is migraine, you can’t even get another mordrem loop.

As a non raider, having to wait almost a full year for reasonable access to HoT stat ascended trinkets is more than absurd, especially since the next expansion will likely introduce new and better stat combinations, which will make HoT stats obsolete.

These are the types of decision that are making me play the game less and less, which also means I’m less inclined to spend rl money in your cash shop.

It’s very unlikely to happen. Just look at some of the mastery points for central Tyria. They’re gated behind achievements like the emperor’s new wardrobe, ambrite weapons collection, and ascended accoutrement. The only reason to gate mastery points behind such grind heavy achievements is to get people who weren’t around during LS2 to buy it if they want to max all their masteries.

I generally agree with the sentiment here about mastery points. For the HoT zones, they feel like Anet are forcing people to play everything in HoT because of the general lack of content there.

As for Tyrian mastery points, they feel more like a cash grab that forces newer players to buy LS2 if they want to max everything. Why else would they gate mastery points behind achievements like the emperor’s new wardrobe, ascended acccoutrement, and ambrite weapon collections? Those are some of the grindiest achievements in the game. I doubt the majority of people who have been playing since launch have those achievements completed.

It looks like the arm aura is half there. It might be because of the effect lod option in the graphics setting. Unchecking it should fix it if that is the problem. The downside of course, is all the effects spam you’ll be seeing from other players.

If you contact the CS Team, they will replace the chests for you. (They did for me.)

Good luck.

I’m much more interested to know if this is a bug or if it’s by design. I’ve got a bunch of these bags sitting in my storage, and would like to know if there’s a fix on the way or if they’re working as intended.

The Chak Gerent is just fine

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: femalehumanmeta.8351

femalehumanmeta.8351

I still stand by what I said. Since the Nuhoch patch, none of the lane mechanics required to spawn gerents are hard. Most of my pug runs post patch got all four gerents to the last phase, they just didn’t have the dps. Imo, pugs failing a dps check does not mean the meta event is difficult.

I’ve also run the meta five times with organized guild groups (ie. LUCK, TTS, etc), and managed to clear the meta four times. Two of those completions we managed to kill all four gerents before the third phase.

If you really need to get this event done, and don’t want to rely on a pug lottery, TTS and LUCK run the event regularly. LUCK normally posts when on the forums here. TTS has a schedule on their website.

I just failed at there this morning lol. And how is it our fault to keep it buggy for so long?

It meant nothing, you were talking about pugs, they don’t have the DPS several times in a row, how are you going to make sure that next map’s pug will have it? How are you even going to know that?

WOW even organized guild can’t make it 100%, and you are saying it’s easy.

I don’t really want to get it done that badly, but this is obviously a bad design and it’s laughable that people who are defending it, couldn’t even get a 50 % or even 30% successful rate.

Unless you have a >50% successful rate with pugs, stop poping out to say how easy it is.
I’m sure you people have way lower successful rate.

I never once said it was easy. I simply said the mechanics of the fight are not hard, especially post patch.

I do agree that finding a map with pugs that have the required dps to successfully complete the meta is difficult, but that does not make the event itself difficult, especially if semi organized guild groups are able to kill all four gerents before the third phase.

I’ll use triple trouble as an example. That event is near impossible to complete with pugs, but almost always succeeds with an organized guild group.

I can understand peoples frustrations trying to pug the gerent meta, since a lot of items are gated behind it, but if you’re on the forums posting about how it should be nerfed or toned down, it also shouldn’t be hard for you to find an organized guild run of it either.

I personally don’t see a problem with two map wide meta events in the entire game (tt and gerent) that aren’t faceroll puggable.

Chak Gerent is just a dps check meta event. None of the mechanics are “hard”, unless you consider avoiding large red and blue aoe circles and not cc-ing hard.

I’d bet most pug maps that fail probably have a tonne of people doing the meta in some kind of tank gear because they’re having a difficult time surviving in the jungle.

Since the patch to Nuhoch, I’ve attempted around a dozen or so pug Gerents, one has succeeded. The ones that failed simply didn’t have the dps.

Really awesome design.
