Seen SoR do it for 7 weeks straight and TC do it since they got to tier 2. THe difference is we don’t come post about it on the forums.

If you see TC players doing this PLEASE bring it to the light of day. I have never seen or been a part of any rubbish like this. Obviously no one can be everywhere at once though, so PLEASE inform some one on TC if this is happening. We don’t want this sort of thing going on the in the TC server.

Btw… I’ll just take your statement as
“Yea we do this sort of stuff… but others do too…”

As if that’s any justification…

To keep things in perspective though… it’s just a few people in that vid doing some lame/cowardly exploitation. Not a huge deal. I hope it’ll be fixed in Feb. At the same time though… behavior like this shouldn’t be defended.

And additionally, if SoR has been doing this for 7 weeks straight, is it not fixed because ANet hasn’t done so yet or because everyone just likes to keep it some hush-hush secret from ANet by not posting about it and letting it be a known exploit?

Seeing as some threads have been locked, I’ve had over 70 views and no replies, I thought I’d post again.

Logging in through the website is still showing my old email account that isn’t associated with my Guild Wars 2 account anymore.

From the Guild Wars 2 rules of conduct:

3. You may not create character names or otherwise transmit, post, link to or facilitate the distribution of any sexually explicit, harmful, threatening, abusive, defamatory, infringing, obscene, hateful, vulgar, racially or ethnically offensive, invasive of personal privacy or publicity rights, or objectionable in a reasonable person’s view imagery or content.

This is a ticket regarding a compromised account – email/account name was changed.

We’re looking for confirmation this ticket is still being address for a friend of mine after he has already had customer service look into his ticket but not fix the issue. Not entirely sure what’s going on at this point.

He has created an entirely new email account to transfer over to once this gets resolved so he doesn’t have to deal with this again.

I would change your email/account name and your password immediately.

Even with the authentication to deny or approve these connections, as long as they have any of your information, you’ll continue to get these messages until you change something.

You are likely receiving the account recovery error because her email was changed, therefore, it is no longer on file associated with that password and/or serial number.

Best advice you’ll get is to submit and ticket and wait.

Create a password unique only to Guild Wars 2, and if you want further security create a new email account used only for Guild Wars 2 as well.

We are working on two things in relation to this situation: The ability to remove cards and increased protection against unauthorized purchases with saved cards. This is a very high priority, and the team will roll this out as soon as possible.

Posting on behalf of my fiancee because she can’t get in to reply to this. Her account was hacked a couple of days ago and the hacker changed her account email address so now she can’t do anything with the game. She has two tickets created for it -

and

120909-001452

I know there’s a lot of people with this same issue, do we’re being patient, but we would really appreciate the time and help because I feel bad playing when she can’t!

If you have two tickets open for the same issue, you should close one and have only one ticket open otherwise you’re probably just slowing yourself down.

How do you know its from Friday? I attached a screen of the e-mail I received which says 4 days ago. Ive been locked out of the game for almost a week and I just want to get back to playing.

I did submit a ticket twice. Maybe thats part of the problem. Even still, that should not hold this matter up in my opinion.

I said friday because your ticket begins with “120907” meaning August (9), 07, (7th) 2012 (12), which was 3 days ago. If you submitted multiple tickets maybe that’s why your ticket has that date… what support did with your tickets I don’t know, but just wanted to clarify that since you asked me.

I made an earlier post but forgot to write my ticket number and it won’t let me edit.

Ticket Number: #120910-005691.

Account was hacked sometime between September 9 11:00 P.M. and September 10 1:00 P.M EST. Almost all my gold and most of my inventory was stolen. Still have access.

If you still have access to your account, change your password immediately. Even further, create a new email account associated just for GW2 to secure your account even futher. Unfortunately, ANet has said they do not do character restorations or rollbacks at the moment, so your stuff will be gone.

Your ticket is from Friday, 3 days ago, unless that’s some sort of new date for an updated or re-prioritized ticket. If it’s your first, you’ll likely have to wait it out some more. :/

Is there a reason people that are banned are getting faster response times than the people that actually have account issues? -.-

Being banned IS an account issue because the large majority of these bannings are from compromised accounts. ANet has said that those with blocked/hacked accounts will have priority at the moment.

Honestly though, the ticket system itself boggles my mind. It’s disheartening to see users with tickets created back in August still not helped yet someone with a ticket from over the weekend was helped. That’s great, people are being helped, but prioritization seems… iffy.

Good thing they opened the forums, too… could anyone imagine this fiasco if all we had were emails from Lance and no ticket submission confirmations?

Although with Gaile being here on the forums, that certainly seems like it’s helping out everyone. Keep it up.

As I was perusing the forums, I am still coming across people who are having their email/account names changed – even as of TODAY.

So, in light of recent events, I have created an entirely brand new email dedicated entirely to my Guild Wars 2 account.

I’m sure everyone has seen this:

Why is this email not given out to the OLD email account to authorize such changes?

I’m concerned as to even why I am able to change my account name at this point without ANet’s permission simply because of the influx of players who have had their account NAMES compromised and are unable to even log into theses forums to discuss the matter. Notice how everyone is posting for their friend, guildie, girl or boy friend or their fiance?

Please tell me this is being dealt with. From what the sticky posts are showing me, ANet support is going to continually received email/account name change notices until some sort of authentication is done on the user end to stop such changes.

Why are users unable to recover their email/account name with a serial code, password, or security question? Wouldn’t this lighten the load tremendously on an already stressed support staff?

Things are in place to recover passwords, but nothing in place to recovery email/account names, which can be easily changed with no authentication on the user end and are STILL being changed to this very day without users consent causing more tickets!

I’m completely baffled. I sincerely enjoy playing Guild Wars 2, but you can bet I am doing everything in my power to not have to deal with support at this point.

A couple things.

Because of the account security issues as of late, I have changed my email/account name.

So, if I log in to my account on the Guild Wars 2 splash page, I am greeted with the correct – as in the email I just changed my account to – email/account name. If I then navigate to the forums through the link at the top of the page, I am automatically logged out and I have to re-log back in. After doing so, I am greeted with my display name, and my OLD email/account name.

I’ve reproduced it multiple times. Just another odd mystery surrounding email/account name issues.

Yeah this is a huge problem facing a lot of people. If only you could change your email/account name if you had access to your serial code or something. The fact that you can change your account name anyways without any sort of authorization boggles my mind.

I would rather put my faith in a bank/credit card company that has taken good care of me for 10+ years than a software company that cant/wont fix a simple issue with my account, let alone communicate with me in any way in more days than i was able to play their game. We have already been told that support tickets with hacked accounts are taking priority, i can’t imagine how long a support ticket would take asking for a refund…..

I’ve never heard of someone other than wallstreet defending the banks. Putting your faith in the companies that made a mess out of everything? Please, this sounds so juvenile.

I really hope anyone doing a chargeback can never come back to GW2. Please be in the EULA

He/she is getting help from someone who can and will help him. ANet support has shown time and time again that they’re little help, either from being incredibly understaffed or just incompetent. People have been out of this game for over a full week with no word, no help, and little hope, if any at all, at getting their accounts back. People are still locked from their accounts when they submitted tickets back in August.

This customer isn’t “defending” anyone. They’re merely getting help from someone who has shown that they will and can help them.

There are loads of people having issues and just getting blanket statements or automated messages that do not help them in the slightest. Since you aren’t hacked or banned, you might not be prioritized, either.

If you peruse through the forums, you’ll see that some people are issuing chargebacks on their credit/debit cards because ANet support won’t respond.

That’s great and all that it looks like “****” on ANet’s end. That’s hardly not the issue here, though.

The problem is when an account is compromised with CC details saved after purchases.

And we all know how absurdly inconsistent support has been trying to fix email/account name change issues.

I sincerely hope many of you did not purchase anything through the store.

My friend received an email from support with a link to the account recovery (https://account.guildwars2.com/recovery)

That’s great and all, but HE CAN’T USE IT BECAUSE THEY CHANGED HIS EMAIL/ACCOUNT NAME TO SOMETHING UNKNOWN TO HIM. He does not need to change his password, which is what the recovery is used for!

They also closed his ticket and called it resolved.

I am posting on behalf of a friend because his EMAIL/ACCOUNT name was changed without his authorization. Therefore, he is unable to log in to even check the status of his account (whether he is now banned or not based on the actions of whoever took his account) nor can he even log into the forums to discuss this matter!
