Necro or Reaper? Necros are strong but not that powerful as Reapers. Reaper has by far the best and easiest defensive tools in the game, just enter reaper shroud and laugh at your opponents, especially if they play condi builds, which deal zero dmg to you. You can easily 1 vs 1 anything (with exception of Warriors maybe), you can survive 1 vs 2 for quite long, your dmg is insanely op.
Would you be so kind, Anet, and nerf reaper shroud for additional 30%? Ty!

No, you must be in ultra low tier pvp or something if you think Necro has the best defense in the game. No blocks, no invulns, no invisibility, laughable mobility and without reaper almost no access to stability, they are also ultra slow and easy to interrupt. They are punching bags.

I don’t think the 25% baseline is even close to enough compensation. There needs to be a full revert of all the trash trait changes like speed of shadows and relentless pursuit. With all the power creep even the old 50% was pretty inadequate in pvp, especially with shroud being our access to mobility/stability that is still weaker than almost every other class. The core class and reaper do not have to be destroyed to make room for a new elite spec.

Trait synergy with any trait procced on entering shroud was also pretty severely weakened as well.

1. Moa should no longer wipe all minions, with it knocking you out of death shroud it is already too powerful, but throwing utilities on full cd is just a slap in the face.

2. Minion active skills need to be more useful, the immobilize/blind are very hard to use effectively and are not worth the cd. Also allowing minions to have actives similar to ranger would make the builds more fun to play.

There’s no counters to necro shroud.

Actually there is a counter to necro shroud: don’t let the necro get shroud. honestly if people expect that necro has no shroud when they just attack through spectral armor then that’s their fault.

That’s not really a counter. Necro has several unblockable attacks that give life force, as well as the fact that you’re asking people to just ignore you when you activate spectral armor, which can be difficult to spot in a big fight, just like moa casting.

There’s no counter to berserker mode BESIDES moa. You have perma stability, massive HP regen, and plenty of blocks and damage ignorance to go with it. A well-placed moa says “screw your passives” and reverses that. And moa can’t be spammed with any particular frequency either. It’s on a long cooldown.

As for necro, most of the time I see it being used against necro is when they enter shroud in order to not die when they’re being focused. Good necros stay far enough away from the fight to nuke without getting focused. Moa is pointless if the necro isn’t under any real threat.

And with celestial form, at least it helps counter the ridiculous heal-to-full and stealth skills they have.

I’d also like to point out that if you do get moa’d… you do have skills still. As soon as I get moa’d, I pop #5 because it’s an evade that lasts a significant length of the moa spell. And I still have evades…

The only time moa is a real threat is if you’re getting focused already — if you’re not in any particular danger, it really isn’t a threat.

The time when Moa is a problem for necros is when they are in the fray. That generally only happens when they are prepared to attack or getting focused on. If they are prepared, they can survive the moa.

Regardless, your nonsense argument doesn’t discount how overpowered Moa is against Necros. It kills all minions, eliminates Necros only defensive ability-shroud and it’s not like moa has some huge noticeable animation, because it doesn’t. Oh and try kiting from a Mesmer or engineer on a necro.

And completely eliminating a skill bar is nonsense.

Guard is in need of some serious rework. As a necro main that plays multiple different classes in PVP including guard I can say it is definitely too powerful, especially when stacked. Necros get screwed with the lack of stability, theives get annihilated, even warriors and druids struggle with them. The problem is especially noticeable when the enemy team has multiple guards and you dodge through one set of traps and immediately trigger even more.

When I Get on my guard I know it is easy mode to get kills with way less effort than it takes on any other class. I know Necros cannot kite, and have awful stability and shroud won’t save them, thieves can’t even get close, most warriors stay within melee range and end up worn down by traps and constant pressure once they use up their invulns and either die or kite. Druids often stalemate, mesmers get torn up and can’t successfully pull off any shatters typically. Elementalists are just in a bad place altogether it seems, and scrappers usually end up kiting away after getting a beat down.

Maybe you just suck kitten if your dying to marks. They are easy to avoid, don’t stand on them dummy. Not to mention they do kitten poor damage compared to grenades, vault and definitely shatter.

Chill has been in the game for 3 years doing the same thing and there have been builds that have 100% uptime with it on several classes in that 3 year time span yet only now it’s OP as a base?

5 classes have abilities that remove the condition specifically, 5 have traits that reduce its duration.

The only real complaints I understand is from elementalists because it messes with their attunement swaps.

Anyone who thinks reaper is “op” and forgets there are ways to mitigate chill. Also they don’t like being killed by reapers because they are either dumb enough to take one on with no condi removal in melee range or to use cc’ s decently against them.

I’m not a fan of the reaper changes as they make them a target for people’s rage despite not having been in the meta this season and now they want to nerf the core aspect of reaper, which is chill.

As a necro main I don’t really like the fact that we are getting this buff after bunkers are all getting nerfed. It will put us in a position where it would make us arguably too powerful, of course necromancers still are susceptible to heavy cc and focus (but what class isn’t). We should be condition monsters, but having that much access to boon corruption will make condi spam near unstoppable especially with bunkers being nerfed into extinction.

Maybe if they make it a boon strip instead of corrupt it would be more balanced, as corrupts should be skills that you actively try to get off at opportune moments to turn boons into condis for a spike, and should require a utility slot to prevent other builds from getting too powerful passively from an auto attack. I don’t want them gimping other builds that don’t need or use boon corrupt in order to balance it out which would pigeonhole necros into a boon corrupt cookie cutter build.

If you have trouble with hammer revenants in pvp you must be really bad. Power rev is rarely, if ever played in higher tiered pvp.

I don’t think it’s that huge of a burden to get to diamond. However I do have a problem with how that achievement works. It states that you need to cross 4 division tiers in a season, so it should be achievable when reaching diamond even in this season, that means that it still should count division progress despite prior achievements gating that progress… As getting to diamond is technically meeting the requirements for that achievement regardless of when you do it.

My problem is the game has put me in teams with folks I put on my block list for afking during a match. They then do not disappoint and when they get killed they will rage quit and sit in spawn. (which is often pretty early on… Usually due to them making a rookie mistake like running to far and engaging a class they can’t beat there)

I always tell them if they don’t play I will report them, but the ones that I have already reported and blocked still end up on my team, and then they do the same crap. I had one guy that akitten in all three matches I have played with him.

I don’t understand what your trying to get at… Points scored does not necessarily mean you were the reason the team one. I also think the matchmaking system will include players of separate mmrs on each team so the average team mmr is close.

So to speak you may have a match where it sticks you with other players all with lower mmr than you and they will obviously lose horribly, especially if you afk the first part of a match. On others that you win I imagine you are the low mmr player or the “dead weight” on the team.

I hope you didn’t afk in ranked though, for the sake of your teams pip loss.

I thought I would like DS more than RS, but after playing Reaper in PVP the shroud is soooooo much better. Stability pulses, great cleave, great mobility (for a necro) an awesome aoe stun and chill, poison, and it just feels so much more fluid and the scythe is freaking awesome.

You can play builds that dish out a lot of poison, Rangers can be traited well for a poison build, I think someone posted their poison build in the ranger forums. Also necromancers have a few ways to deal out decent poisoning.

I think the OP is on to something, I got ruby within the first week after the league system came out, then slowed down knowing chances of getting to diamond would take a lot more patience. But the matches I had in ruby earlier were some of the most competitive matches with extremely close scores and everyone knew what they were doing.

Now I’m crawling through the last tier of ruby, and keep getting dropped down little by little, but I’ve noticed teammates that do extremely stupid things that singlehandedly cost the team the win, such as rushing far straight to their death at the start of a match, and then those same players get all toxic and blame everyone else for their mistake, which in turn gets me to call them on their mistake and they still act like they were carrying the team…

I have definitely become more aggressive in telling players what to do, because I don’t have the confidence in them that I did when I was ruby very early on and knew my teammates could handle themselves for the most part. I guess next season I need to just blow through ruby to avoid them, instead of putting my foot slightly on the brakes since I was having enjoyable matches.

To be fair there are a lot of terrible thieves out there that dance with bunkers for the entire match unable to decap so they essentially are a waste of a team member. Good thieves however can single handedly turn the tides of the game by rotating smartly and +1ing.

Warriors still seem to do quite well, their damage isn’t bad, and the people that still play it tend to be very skilled at playing it well.

But if you end up on a team with two thieves you are at a severe disadvantage to a team with just one or zero thieves. Their job can be done with one good thief just fine.

Enjoy your new druid/scrapper/diamond skin ele bunkers.

All of those builds, while strong, fold to focus-fire quite quickly, as their defense is based on healing and soft mitigation (like protection), while chronobunkers had so much hard mitigation (invuln) that they could EASILY 1v2 or 1v3 for a very long time with no counterplay.

Yes, druid/scrapper/tempest need a nerf (like all of the elite specs still), but they aren’t as game-breakingly OP. For the rest of the season, at least there will be more viable builds (even if everything is still heavily bunky).

I don’t agree with you about ele bunker, DF it has more than enough evade frames, shocking aura, condition cleansing, healing for self and allies, stun breaks, stab, stupid high protection and generally should be able to hold a 2v1 almost indefinitely.

Besides, most EU teams were not running double mesmer, this double mesmer was an NA issue not EU where the mesmers were being focused hard and fast.

P.s. I don’t mind the precog blur to distortion, I mind the 0.75s cast which makes it very hard to use, otherwise I think the shaving down is alright. I don’t think more needs doing though but we will see.

As for wanting a logical argument instead, I will indulge you. First off, what are these ‘more than enough evade frames’ you are talking about? Secondly, the cleanses we have are from the 5 shouts, earth 4 and water attune. This amount of cleanse is hardly enough against viper revs and reapers once they break our diamond skin. Stunbreaks? We only have one that is readily available. Eye of the storm. Other sources of stunbreak are overloads which are not reliable. We have no stability to boot except from earth overload too, making it extremely easy to cc us.

So, how do we 1v2 indefinitely again? I would certainly like to see some video proof documented since you are very experienced with ele, yes?

Soon as condi rev is out of the picture (only a matter of time) the only thing you will ever have to worry about is reaper. Which between cleanse on regen, cleanse on water swap, soldier runes and 4 shouts, 2 low cool down auras, auras from combos, 2 passive proc frost auras, water overload and geomancers freedom is more than enough condition cleanse to cope with a reaper. Your protection and high health regen on auras will cover you against power players.

As for enough evades, burning speed (15s) good access to vigor and latent stamina with sigil of energy should be enough to dodge anything big enough to hurt you and you regen/heal through the rest.

Wat? You must play against seriously crappy players if they can’t eventually kill you 2v1. The only duo I could see a tempest surviving near indefinitely against would be two bunker builds. And that’s assuming you are a good tempest and they hit like wet noodles.

40% damage reduction, 3 auras, a healing skill, 10% damage reduction from frost aura, elite to give me another aura.

Effective health is a lot more than 1.8k, on top of that I have over 9k of healing in a matter of seconds. You cant see things in a vacuum, truth is; even with 2 people, it can be tough to break through my health.

You must play against bad players. Diamond skin has been around for ages and now that people are using it on bunker tempests it’s suddenly OP when it is easily counterable.

Traps are annoying, but in competitive matches DH’s really aren’t that big of a problem….besides I love using magnetic aura when they are about to use their number two longbow skill. Great fun watching them melt themselves. The daze being spammed however should be toned down a bit.

The time gating is pointless, should be a certain number of matches played in total…. Not 3 each day. Some days you may play more than 3 and some less, so it should just be something like “play 45 ranked matches” instead of 3 a day for 15 days. I want to be able to progress through them at my pace.

Seems like op doesn’t like bunkers. To be honest I find it more well balanced with bunker and damage classes now than prior metas where near full damage builds were almost necessary and most bunkers were sub par.Now you have to have some strategy especially in team fights other than spamming the enemy with more damage. You have to prioritize targets and keep your teammates in the fight.

The auras were never clutter, neither was fireball. They just screwed up their artisticly well done game and made it look like their developers threw together crap looking auras and a pathetic one pixel animation for fireball. Nice “improvements” anet.

I think an option bar to increase/decrease the effects would be a nice solution. I preferred the game before the “noise” nerds because it felt like you were actually fighting other players. Now I feel like I’m throwing carrots at people on my ele and honestly the auras being less noticeable is nonsense. Most people wanted them to be more noticeable if anything.

If by balancing, you mean make the class subpar to almost every other class on the game, maybe with the exception of thief, then the op has the answers. Really, massive damage reductions on two skills that are very easily avoided, UA can be dodged and mitigated just by being near someone else, and just walk to the side of coalescence of ruin since it’s hugely telegraphed.
