Just finished a fotm 50, the veteran iku…. thingies that float around didn’t despawn after we killed the two tentacles during the jade maw fight. We literally had to clear the whole place with no loot at all. Was this an intended change to make this fractal longer?

There have at least 3 chaos of lyssa recipes dropped already. I have seen two different youtube videos and that 1 tp transaction. So, it is dropping but at precursor level rarity.

I’m 100% confident the drop rate is bugged.

Anet came out and investigated that the drop rate wasn’t bugged. But surely you all remember the Final Rest fiasco?

The fact that there has only been at least 1 drop so far just shows how are it is. Or it may also show that so few people are playing this update? I dunno..

There are more than 1 drop. Also not a lot of people farming it due to tickets costing 20s for 5. All in all its just a bad situation

All of mine turned into 1 token aswell. How did you guys get that many (like 100/100?) When I did a boss twice I got no reward at the end so I assumed a daily lock, or is it simply a prevention of repeating 1 boss over and over?

The chest with tokens is daily for each fight, but you should always get a gauntlet chance (and another one for each gambit used), even repeating.

Ah fair enough, I was saving my tickets for Liadri so I likely was so disappointed about no tokens for tickets I must have missed it. Still gotta figure out a fight I can do easily with all 5 gambits, 6 tickets per attempt, boo. ^^

You can get these gauntlet chance consumable items by beating opponents inside the gauntlet.

So far I’ve opened around 50 or so and only received a single festival token from each one of them.

Do these drop anything else (I’d assume so judging by the name and the description of the item) and has anyone gotten anything else from these yet?

200+ opened for me, nothing but single festival tokens. Another guy in a thread in gw2 discussion section opened 400+ and nothing. Im guessing we are looking at extremely low drop rates

An Idea to tone down 2v1 and slow down KTrain

I have a suggestion: each time that a BG player gives us a suggestion to change the rules of WvW because of the 2v1, he should give a suggestion too for the situation where the coverage and numbers of a server is unbeatable.

Well this is not helping at all, at less I did give some suggestion on how to reduce the number different between server. Do you have any suggestion to fix the coverage problem?

As a matter of fact I do. How about you and all BG posters crying about 2v1 transfer to a T2 server, where (1) you won’t get 2v1 anymore, (2) T1 starts to become balanced again. Take some steps yourself in rebalancing the game, instead of crying when the odds start becoming against you because other servers have figured a strategy against your over-stacking server. Once you balance T1, there would be no incentive for the other two servers to 2v1 you anymore, as long as every server has a fair chance to win.

THe game should not be allow teleporting through walls, up to the roof to begin with. In fact, they should be punished (stuck) whenever they do so. It is just abuse of terrain and cheesy as hell. Teleports should only work when you have LOS on your target.

My friend and I do 49 daily. He has gotten 2 ascended weapon chests and 1 ascended armor chest. I have gotten 3 weapon chests and 1 fractal skin. I didn’t do fotm daily pre-patch so I don’t have anything to compare by on ascended chests, but the fractal skins are definitely more rare. The ascended chests are much more common in fotm than anywhere else in the game (never got one from WvW and I play it a lot).

Easiest way to get achievement is to guest to lowest population server. I did mine in Fergusson’s Crossing since it was near impossible with the amount of people on JQ.

Actually, it was strong against my pure PU mesmer (staff and scetper/torch). There’s no way to break a d/d eles hp with that. A simple fix was just to respec to hybrid variant of condi PU. But, I dont like how I am forced to play hybrid now or stand no chance to diamond skin.

My group tried to do the last fractal which happened to be aetherblade. Not sure if this is a bug or not, but was wondering if anyone had the same problem we did. The (guy) boss at random times would go to cannon phase . From what I understand, he should do this at certain increments of Mia’s hp (75%,50%,25%?). Well he kept doing it before she got down to a certain percent. Which is fine and all but he never left the cannon phase after that?? So she has 7,8,9,10+ stacks and we cannot lower it. We ran around for 10+ minutes avoiding cannons while doing like no damage to her… is this intended?

Happened to my group on 38. I think its part of the instabilities, where chill, poison, and confusion have weird effects. When it bugged out for us, I noticed that Mai had the regen boon on her. So in the next attempt, we made sure that our ranger didn’t use any poison condition. This fixed it for us, and we were able to progress like normal.

Anet, fix the instabilities like you did for lvl 37 because apparently lvl 38 is not fixed.

People normally run full berserker in PVE dungeons.

For roaming, the current meta are the hammer builds (0/10/30/0/30)

Stick with zerker armor, then swap trinkets for cavaliers. This will give you high dmg and decent survivability with ~3k armor. You can pair hammer with GS.

The vitality for the original build is awfully low.

I dont get why people want to get so much defense :]
I run the base HP which is like 18.7k ish ? With wvw bonuses and guard stacks it can go up to 22k. More than enough.
When the party prioritizing buffs update comes its gonna be amazing. Currently I run (with food and stacks) 90% crit dmg, 42% crit chance which can be boosted with fury by warrior(s) in your party and deathly perception from soul reaping (so maybe I can drop Foot in the Grave and guardians can give us stability when needed), that will get me up to ~80% crit chance in DS. Also with ~2.9k power (not counting might) and 22k hp/1.7k toughness.
Thats a zerg busting 30/10/0/0/30 build with last gasp and spectral armor you will be running with decent protection uptime and Life force gain etc so surviving will not be a problem for anyone experienced…and the damage is insane.

Build offensively imo, and it was said that they gonna change some stuff in the blood tree so gotta see what it brings.

I agree, with DS and active play the 30/10/0/0/30 build is definitely insane power and enough surivivability with any experienced necro. I used to run that build until I transferred to T1. The build no longer works because of 1 thing – skill lock. The lag gets so horrible, you will not be able to play around with your active skills anymore. Ascii’s build works really well in T1 where the blobs are so massive, you need every bit of passive survivability (blood line) since most times you cant cast anything for 10 seconds or more. Looking at you, SoR blob!

@hyman: your answer confuses me a little. I’m not running GS. Running Mace/shield instead of LB really have the potential to make to enemy rage, but the problem would persist i guess: engaging a nec in melee, while theres no adren to cleanse. In addition a harder to land f1 from mace, compared to LB.

It is confusing because you are unwilling to even consider about running with just exactly Hammer and a mace/shield weapon set (not a LB and mace/shield set, not a GS and mace/shield set). Using LB is just asking to lose. To beat a necro, you MUST keep up the melee pressure. Condition necros are extremely tanky and if you let them hit you with their condi bursts you are as good as dead.

The tricky part here is how you engage. You might want to consider popping your zerker stance immediately before you engage for 2 reasons: (1) gain adrenaline, (2) 8 seconds of OP immunity to anything the necro can do, this includes blinds, chills, everything. If you cannot close the gap within 8 seconds and land any stun/daze, you gotta practice. You can also slot bulls rush if you are really struggling.

For build, use the standard, 0/10/30/0/30. In full zerker armor and cavalier trinkets, you should have ~3k atk, and ~34% crit chance. That means your hammers crit for around 3-4k depending on how tanky the necro is, even mace will hit for 1-2k. Use either lyssa runes or melandru runes. And if you are really rich or just want to beat the crap out of them, toss in a lemongrass soup. Traited for dogged march, cleansing ire, and last stand, you should not have a problem even if the Necro occasionally breaks your stun chain.

The goal is to not give the necro any breathing room. The necros only defense is when they are able to move, they have only a few stun breakers (4) and if they are running lots of stun breakers they aren’t bursty. Anticipate a few of their powerful utilities. If you get hit by any of these, you are goign to have to work a little bit harder to recover (i.e. shield 5, signet of stamina, lyssa runes): signet of spite and corrupt boon. You can dodge signet of spite through experience since its not instant cast. Once you see a signet over the necros head when hes turned facing you, immediately dodge. Corrupt boon is a little bit harder, but just remember the goal of the corrupt boon is to turn your stability into a fear. The necro will not use it for anything else except your stability, that is assuming hes a competent necro. One way to counter these, is to abuse the necros slow movement speed. Get really close and try to be behind him at all times. Everytime you stun him just move around him. Both of these utilities require the necro to face you.

If you are confused about anything else, just ask. But the real challenge I guess is to keep an open mind and just try my suggestions. Forget about LB. Forget about rifle, although it may work if you are just running a poke build with rifle/GS, but that is beside the point.

I’ve often read this on the forum, but yet i’m still facing the same Problem as the OP.

2 examples:
Yesterday i’ve met a Nec in WvW. I run 0 10 30 0 30 with balanced, frenzy (for the lols, anyway it was equiped) and zerker stance; Ptv gear with some knight/zerk mixed in and pack runes and Hammer/LB (no buff food).
I started with Zerk Stance (to prevent the first condi spike), after he dropped the first sign and used LB to build adren and tried to close the gap, while getting some minor Conditions. After Adren was build i used LB f1 to get rid of some Condies and switched to Hammer to get serious. That was about the time zerker stance ended and i failed to stick close to him (he used cripples, chills, dodges and fear), after i somewhat managed to get enough adren for hammer f1 i was at 50% health and earthshaker missed ( i must have overseen a blind). 1-2 fears later im downed without having done much more dmg after leaving LB. (he used a bear finisher, if i recall that means r50)

This time on Khylo: I’ve used GS mace /shield zerk stance, doly sig, balanced stance zerk equipped and engaged a necro at the treb. I got chilled by the first sign and again used zerk stance to prevent more staff dmg. The first chill however was applied. After i reached the treb, we traded some minor hits, zerk stance wears off and i got the first fear, used my first stun breaker. The Stability got converted and i got feared again plus some more condies, before i activated the second stun breaker. The Condies were there and again i failed to close the fear generated gap and die without having build enough adren for a single f1.

I feel a well played necro can still generate so much distance, that it can be hard to build adren and get rid of his condies. Especially in the second case i do not really see, what i’ve done wrong, maybe using zerk stance later on? Most of the time i run up to the Nec pop zerk stance and kill him, but if he manages to prevent adren building up, i’m really clueless how to act.

I would suggest you stop using GS if you really want to destroy necros. Run hammer+ mace/shield, and watch the necro unable to do anything. But I guess GS is the best choice if you roam in wvw, just for the option of disengaging and escaping. Fight necros with those weapons and have the traits dogged march, last stand, cleansing ire, and you should almost always win. Warriors are hard counters to necros. It also helps a lot if you play a necro. They really lack any sort of counter to stuns.

As for the stuns, kiting and dodging has always been the big counter against warriors due to their move predictability. Unfortunately as a class with the least access to vigor and no traits that help how often you can dodge, that makes it tougher for necros to do. However you do have a skill combo that works pretty well – Well of Power (pun intended). It’s a 5 second counter to stun warrior builds as you can’t be knocked down or stunned in it on top of also being a stun break. Use Blood is Power to give yourself that troublesome buff of vigor so you can now dodge more often once that Well wears out. If you can’t bring the fight in your favor with the well and vigor against a warrior, then he’s the better player.

And if you’re a power necro: Lich Form. Heck, it’s not bad on a condition necro either as it’ll still put him on the defensive with damage that’s still respectable and 5 jagged horrors that can lay on bleeds… I just wouldn’t normally slot this on a condition necro unless you’re having serious issues with a CC enemy.

Plague Form is ok – but it’s only an OS defensive button as you’re not going to be killing anything in it. Beautiful for getting past a zerg into a keep. Could also be used as a respite for cooldowns (toughness + vit + blinds makes it a tanky form), but your DS is better for that.

So are you SOL against stun warriors? Hardly. It’s just that you have to build against them, or they WILL roflstomp you. Berserker Stance is the real breaker, and once they fix that, I’d consider stun warriors fair fight.

Well of power/blood is power combo? It just prolongs the battle for the warrior for 5 seconds. They just GS out of combat with their mobility for 5 seconds. You cant get away, you cant catch them, necros are just sloths at speed. Same goes for lich form and plague, they will just wait it out with their insane mobility.

Most stun warriors also spec 20 into defense for cleansing ire and dogged march. A combination of this and the greatsword removes any chance of you even trying to kite them, regardless of the two lackluster teleports necro have (spec walk and wurm). When the warrior stuns you, and they will, they remove 1-3 conditions and stuns you for 3.5 seconds with mace. The burst comes after with the GS which will do anywhere from 10k-16k hp depending on the warriors skill.

As for utilities, warriors can typically run zerker stance, signet of stamina, balanced stance, or another stun utility.

Most warriors also use a mace/shield combo. If you manage to remove their stability, they will just bunker with defense mode. shield 5 and in case of emergencies, swap to GS and create space until their CD is up again.

You will never kill a decent warrior, you may beat (or maybe kill) low skilled warriors, but most will just run away with GS and come back at you again.

Btw, I have a warrior too and necros are just free kills.

I have started using it with scavenger runes but I don’t spec into dhuumfire. Nevertheless I can still get my crit chance up between 35 and 40% with rabid weapons and trinkets which seems enough for me.

^^ I also run dire armor with rabid trinkets and weapons. I have about 35% crit chance. I don’t spec into dhuumfire (I have never liked wasting 30 points to get a mediocre burn when you have enough cond dmg to dps down any class already). It’s such a waste of scavenging runes imo. I run 30 curses, 20 blood, and 20 in the DS tree. No point in wasting the tankiness of dire armor and scavenging runes. With the 20 in blood with the minion siphon hp on hit, you will be so hard to take down. You have about the same or even more regen compared to a healing signet warrior running heal spec (~900-1000 regen) with blood friend and the elite pet up. The traits in the DS line also provides you with extra tankiness. Of course this is for roaming, but you can always swap traits to wells for zergs.

So you kited the mesmer with one of the most mobile builds in the game, and the phantasm mesmer who has the worst mobility in the game kept chasing you.

This mesmer let his ego get in his way. Most likely he wins most of his duels with the OP phant spec, but didn’t learn that phant specs are weak in open field WvW due to lack of mobility, of both the mesmer and especially the phantasms. Well played for extrapolating this mesmer’s stupidity and playing to your strengths.

I’m actually considering getting a tag just to lead PVE farm trains. I’m just unsatisfied with the lack of farming commanders around. Too few commanders out there trying to maximize efficiency and profit for themselves and the zerg following them. Completing the event is no where as profitable as farming champs. And, so many people blame farming champs on human but I suggest them to look at Anet on how they implemented the reward system. Completing the event should give like 15-20 boxes instead of the 6 to incentive people to finish the event instead of farming.

They need an internal cool down ASAP. On my engineer this is completely OP. My warrior can keep a tremendous amount of stacks on people constantly. My buddies interrupt mesmer is absurd.

Now, imagine a party of five all using this rune and doing AOE confusion. We did this and it was so broken. You can’t use cleanses fast enough and it wouldn’t be a huge issue if confusion didn’t affect dodge rolls, shield uses, and other abilities that are used to clear conditions.

Don’t roam in a group of 5 and roam alone. Tell me how well it is when you don’t use soldier runes for condition cleansing. How many stacks are you really applying when you are solo? Most roamers you face 1v1 will be condition cleansers, stun breakers, and stability.

I actually tried these new runes and the sigil of malice on my mesmer for about 2 days. The results honestly weren’t that great. Mesmer interrupt traits definitely need to be looked, they are all over the place. I have now respecced my mesmer back to shatter build as the interrupt build just wasnt cutting it. These are definitely not that OP on mesmers. I may try it on an engi though.

I play a Guardian. And no, we didn’t just rush blindly into the room. But when one of the oozes gets aggroed they’re all aggroed. And we kept getting pulled into the room. By the oozes. And then the cycle of constant pull/knockdown/power lockout/rinse/repeat begins.

In the case of the Oozes: If you play Thief, you can just teleport away, or roll for initiative. Playing Elementalist use teleport or Mist Form. Mesmer can use distortion. Guardian can use blocks etc etc.
Stunbreakers, stability and projectile reflects are your friends.=P

Once again. How am I supposed to use any of those powers when all of my powers are continuously locked-out? How do you get those powers to work when every single power on your powerbar is showing that count-down?

So… has no one else experienced this? Is it possible that it was a bug?

Guardian is the one class that makes the MF extremely easy. The shout stand your ground is a stun breaker and does not get locked out when you get knocked down. You should be able to group up all 3 oozes, hit stand your ground and survive for at least a few seconds, use wall of reflection, and smash the oozes. If you need extra protection time from the oozes you can use santuary or shield of the avenger. Once you are able to do that, the rest of your party can sit behind your walls and aoe/melee away. Like I said earlier, the oozes die really quick after that.

BTW, I’m really curious to what lvl and gear you are using to not be able to face tank the oozes.

Molten Weapons Facility Problems

I do understand that you’re trying to help, and I appreciate it. Perhaps it would help if I explained the exact situation.

In the Molten Weapons Facility there is an encounter with a Champion Ooze and large group of normal Oozes. They all have a PbAoE pull/yank/whatever you call it.

So the encounter went like this. One of the oozes pulls our entire team to it. Then, all of our powers are locked out for 2 seconds or so while our characters are going through the getting up animation. Then, right before our powers come off of lockdown, we get pulled to another ooze. We’re taking damage the entire time, of course. Then, right before our powers come off of lockdown, we get pulled to another ooze. This happened repeatedly until the entire team is dead.

So… can someone please explain to me how I’m supposed to interrupt or dodge roll or fire off “Stand Your Ground” when all of my character’s powers are locked out repeatedly until dead?

If there’s something that I’m missing here, please. Someone explain it to me. Without the “lrn 2 pla n00b” comments, if that’s possible. Because that’s exactly what I’m trying to do.

Stability, reflections, blinds solution solved. Btw, never charge into the room (I’m assuming you are talking about the part with the drilling machine and caves with mithril ores). Always stand around the corner and lure the monsters out, stack and cleave with reflection skills. They die really quick.

You do NOT get booted out of the instance if you lose all your lives (even when you solo).

If you lose all your lives, you get sent to an area where you can choose to use a continue coin to continue with 5 more lives. If you do not have any continue coins in your inventory, a shady merchant does appear and will sell you a continue coin for 50 baubles instead of the outside price of 25 baubles with Moto. If by chance you cannot afford the continue coin, then you are out of luck and only option is to leave instance.

Arah Vets grouping together to do Arah Runs

Hi, I am interested in adding this Arah guild to one of my guilds.

Characters:
Mesmer (zerker gear and rabid gear), traited shatter cat build
Experience:
I have completed path 1 once and 2/3 multiple times.
Haven’t attempted simins (p4) post patch but would like to get DM eventually if theres a group going and I have hours to burn.

*Other: I also have a guardian with AH/EM traited but never brought him to Arah before. If the other party members are patient, I can bring him to learn the ropes of playing guardian in Arah.
Both characters are in full exotic.

There is a way to get 5 AR before lvl 10. Do what I did and cough up the gold to craft a backpiece. By doing levels from 1-9, it is highly possible that you have looted at least 1 vial of condensed mist essence. Check the GW2 wiki for the specific recipe to make an ascended backpiece.

Also, I don’t know how feasible it is for the advices suggesting you to learn to dodge since it probably is your first time in lvl 10+ fractals (you have never even seen which moves cause agony yet). Better bet to help yourself and your group is just spend 20-30 gold and craft the backpiece. You can always continue using that backpiece into the later fractals so its not a complete waste of gold.
