Back after a 2 year break.. still trying let everything sink in… new faces look nice though..
We’ve said it a few times before, but I want to just re-iterate we’ve heard folks feedback on this and will be doing a much larger mix of permanent, recurring (content that can occur again in the future), and more world impacting releases as it relates to living world in the second half of the year. There will still absolutely be some amount of temporary, in particular story-driven moments to help drive the narrative forward. You’ll also see some of the content previously noted as “temporary” return permanently to the game in the 2nd half of the year.
Three additional notes ->
- As we recently announced, we’re up to four living world teams now, which means they will have a much longer development cycle later this year to build more polished content, and content that can be more impactful.
- The Living World teams are only a small chunk of the total developers at ArenaNet, we’ll be going into details on what many of those other teams will be doing in a blog later this month.
- We also have teams working on much longer term projects, which we will discuss when they are closer to arrival.
We’ve said all of this before, but I think it’s good to just put that message out more frequently so everyone understands where we’re going. Thanks very much for all the feedback folks, as always we continue to listen to your feedback and course correct as we try new things in the live MMO space.
I Hope the majority of your Dev are fixing bugs?

i thought the load screen just loads game assets into memory.. AKA your PC.. nothing to do with the intarwebs traffic

.. its a pain.. graphical glitches (on the character creation screen for any race with “hair” and the total makeover kit) are also still around that was broken in the June 11th Patch.. its been 1 month now.. and no fixes, yet they keep pumping new content out.. no doubt more things will break.. and ignored..

If you are a commander.. the map should zoom out and you have a birds eye view of everything.. ALA star craft 2… what would be lol..
then you can give commands that way.

You gotta be joking! I swapped to P/P running OP’s build. In sPvP I can honestly say I can move over halfway across maps in the blink of an eye.
Shadowstep, Withdraw, quadruple evade (signet that refills endurance) and you literally should be untouchable. I also run shortbow as my swap so I can shortbow #5 away after Shadowstepping. Its a little unfair tbh.
Not kidding.. and I mean mobility with the weapon skills.. all those you described are available to all weps.. name a wep set in thiefs repertoire that doesnt have a gap closer or mobility skill?? PP
Where are we going exactly with this class ?
What are roles in a PVE/dungeon/fotm party that we can fulfill for example ?
Will the class have better party support in the future ? Maybe extra range on the venoms?does anyone offer some answers where this class is heading to ?
so far, it shines 1 vs 1 in the wvw probably, not really good in zerg squad
but i do not think the pve/s(t)pvp should be neglected…i am not sure we shine here…
I don’t know if you have seen the ESL test tournament.
Pretty much every team had a Thief in its composition, so I’d say that they aren’t that weak in s-tPvP.Regarding high level PvE, Thief is needed in some dungeon because it makes the life way easier thanks to stealth (skipping hard mobs, dredge etc.). So, thief provides support pretty much thanks to stealth. Other than thakittens role is pretty much dps, which is extremely good at and we know how useful is high damage in dungeons.
Also, because its defensive capabilities is pretty much tied to dodging, a good thief is more survivable compared to warrior in almost every situation, because in high-level PvE dodging is always better than tanking damage, since most attacks will kill you instantly anyway.Regarding WvWvW, thief is still the best roamer. I know that you guys tend to diminish its importance, but being able to capture the camps alone, intercepting dolyaks and reinforcements moving to the keep you’re capturing is extremely helpful in WvWvW, way more than spamming AoE while moving in a big zerg.
If you like to do the latter, I think that Thief is not the best suited profession for you.

Nah they arent.. the best skilled players will be good with em.. then again give the best skilled players a paperclip as a weapon and they will still kill ppl.. for the average joe. Meleeing headfirst into a group they will die

Well warriors arent really effective in large groups either.. in fact I don’t think any melee are..

This is how I view us thieves:
Warrior = Able to do as much as or more damage than thieves (which is ok, I am not whining). They have significantly more armor than thieves do, thus are more survivable. They have quite a few more weapons at their disposal thus making them more versatile.
Thief = Everything I said above, but cut in half. (except for the damage) Thieves can dish out a nice pretty amount of damage but thats as long as our initiative is up. Once we blow that, we have to jump OOC and stealth ourselves so we dont die until we can jump back Into combat.
Now I dont think warriors should be nerfed. But why would ANYONE want a thief over a warrior (which, to me, is the most comparable class as they are both highly melee based). We just seem worthless….yea we can turn invisible and all but that doesnt last long enough for it to be really much worth.
i have both Thief and Warrior at 80 that i switch often.. i dont feel warriors are more versatile.. in PVE they can face tank more.. but that is in their written role.. if you want someone that can facetank and dmg then go roll a warrior.. dont even get me started on warrior pvp..
Thief in PVE is decent.. we dont need to be the best at everything we certainly arent the worst.. leaps and bounds better than warrior in PVP too..

Really those are not the Problem if you play p/p.I guess that makes sense. Come to think of it, the only time pesky stealth thieves have bothered me on ANY class is when I’ve been in the process of just learning to play that class, or anyway a particular build for that class, which is where I am now with P/P Thief.

I still have issues when melee pressured and focused.. i keep forgetting to switch to my D/P offset and stealth out of there.
my build is 0/30/0/20/20 opting for ricochet as opposed to mug..
though i am missing the extra mug heal…

I read somewhere that thief pistol shots pierce by default is this true? Didnt seem like it from my tests last night..
This is the official (but intern, not public) policy in Arenanet, following the mainstream of mmorpgs right now.
Flood with new, not tested content, keep the casual fanboys entertained and buying new items in gemstore (those are the ones generating profit), leave the old content to rot. Always escape forward.
If you don’t like the market model, you should be looking for other games, as this is unlikely to change.

And I have been looking at other games.. will move on when I have found a replacement.. I was planning to spend what normally equates to a sub fee 15 a month on gems.. but I havent done so for ages.. because I dont like the general path the game is goin.. seems like they update often and generally break things.

Aside from getting a free respec.. my crit went down by quite a bit.. 15% ish (other warriors were reporting the same)… is this a bug?
i have 0 points in ARMS tree so i shouldnt be getting any extra precision but with the same gear i had prepatch i remember crit up in the 30s

Problem is, greatsword’s burst skill isn’t that useful compared to them.
Use secondary set that has decent burst skill then.. most of the other sets are pretty good.. except mace i have no experience with mace..

The problem is all in all you run the same GS / Axe Shield build as before with lower dmg because of the new grandmastertraits.I can understand that the warrior gets nerfed cause he was really op in Pve. But everyone expects that warrior gets also improved in sustain and so on.
We have the same problems as before. Engineers will easily kite us when he is spamming cripple and chill. Necros also mesmers also theifs also….. blind …i think i dont have to say sth about this… was blind really so weak?
A class that hast to be near to the enemy to deal dmg has got weak heals, weak cond removes and now also a dmg nerf.
So one question: WHY?
I thought Cond remove is buffed by a bit ..
Dmg nerf is only noticeable if you are those people who pool your adrenaline..
are we reading the same patch notes?
…Then don’t use heightened focus/berserker’s power…? You don’t need them. Especially not now that you have a bloody good reason to burn your adrenaline.
Can we please shake off the bloody thick mentality of Warrior being pure DPS, needing absolutely every single +damage in the board?
^ this is true… i hated those 2 traits.. it is boring.. and encourages your to pool your adrenaline.

When creating a new character or using the total makover kit. When you get to the human face or hair selection. The portraits on the right glitches pretty bad. I swear it is because of the jun 11 patch as it was fine when I was playing with it pre patch. I dont know how that was messed up I dont think you guys touched that part in your notes.
Its not that big a deal but I have ocd and it annoys the kitten out of me… so much so im having trouble getting pass that screen to create a new char.
I dont think u get it back. U need to get another total makeover kit.. or complain to anet support for them to give u one. Then u can move the slider up yo restore glow

Hi I got the in game announcement that said there is a new build in 1 hour.
THEN suddenly the client restarted and it updated the launcher. It hasn’t even been 2 minutes since the announcement
Thats what it looked like to me anyway. . Is this normal patching process? The announcement was a little confusing. .

Even though my first reaction to mug change was raging hardcore about it, I have thought about it again in a calm manner and I would like to think I have got a couple of interesting ideas to experiment with which in fact motivates me to look forward to the patch.

Mate!, i play thief in tPVP.. i’m hella bad but, this is a game, i’m here to have fun, i enjoy the thief class so i shall play it and enjoy myself.

“Trash talk” goes both ways lol. What do you think the “cheese build” retort is exactly? That term is simply a way of verbalizing an absolute lack of respect for anyone requiring builds like that to feel successful.
Referring to the fact that ppl are making an “issue” out of it..
just to be clear.. im telling everyone to get over it.. the ppl who says its cheese and the ppl defending it..
The issue is the “lawl-I-so-good-you-so-bad” from the people running these “cheese” builds after they defeat an opponent using a build that’s more difficult to play. Feeling proud about a kill when it was 100% their googled build and had nothing to do with their own skill.
