Thieves have the worst survivability, and are fourth on mobility.
What thieves do have however is stealth, which is an advantage.
Funny comment. Thieves have the worst survivabililty? Ridiculous. Whats about their stealth, shadowstep, blinding powder, shortbow 5 …
I played a thief for a few days now and its absolutly easy to jump in the fight – kill 1 or to guys and if your health gets low .. baam – out of fight and no chance for the enemy to catch you.
But there is no point like “hacking” or “exploiting”.
The question is absolutly justified.
You know that 100b has more than just one attack?
I mean – i dont get your complain? We should notice how weak it is but you only show a screenshot with one damage number instead of posting the combat log.
Ah – perhaps you shouldnt use a steady weapon (purple one).

I really wonder that this wasnt implemented. I expected this feature because GW1 has the possibility to save builds.
But how long its fun? Do you think you’d have fun playing the same three maps over and over again for months? And with just one mode?
Sure – its fun for a certain time, but then you’ll get bored. There are only a handfull of viable builds – every team runs bunker + burst, there is nothing new or unexpected.
But the really worst thing is: Anet doesnt communicate with its community. And even if they do, they just say “we cant tell too much…” or “we have it on our watchlist” , “blabla”. And then the next patch is released and everyone is disappointed. But there is no explanation why they buffed certain things or didnt fixed other things.
Thats just frustrating.
There are many good suggestions from the community, but no dev ever responds to them.
And what do you think, how many months should we wait to get the game we expected? Do you really think players will wait another 6-12 month?
There are other games, there will be new games like The Elder Scrolls Online. Noone who is disappointed and lost their trust in ANet will come back.
You really expect an answer from ANet?

Look on how many threads these guys communicate with their community.
They said they are working on it and it can be expected in first quart of 2013.
But if it really will be in the next patches – who knows.
And i doubt it will be a good spec-mode like in Dota2.

I am playing thief sometimes, and its definitly not fine atm.
You have a autofacing, following skill which is spammable – shouldnt be possible to spam only 2 and kill a guys, even if he dodges 1 or 2 times. Its ridiculous.
Actually, only free and paid tourn. are pvp in my opinion. Hotjoin is just stupid zergfest with 30%-50% thieves and / or mesmers. Thats not pvp.
Well, its getting really boring doing the same 3 maps over and over again .. with just one mode. There are many bugs that are known for months now and not fixed yet, balance is not the best IMHO. Burst is to high – bunker abilities are to strong, restriction in weapon-/armor-/amulett-/utility-lock makes was a bad decision IMHO.
Combat-system is good. But thats not enough. There were many good suggestions in this forum but ANet doesnt even respond to them. They say they read what the community writes, but i dont see any results. Balancing-patches were crap.
So, overall: 3/10
I really hope Jan/Feb patch will bring some good things to the game, making it more interesting, more viable builds, less bugs and better balancing. If not – i think PvP will be dead for GW2. But i dont have great hopes and trust in ANet, not with there actual pvp-dev-team.
Jumper got 9k damage from mindwrack and it was instant – ok.
But he also did 10k damage to the mesmer with precast BS + steal, instant too.
Sure – you can ask to nerf MW, but then it shouldnt be possible to precast skills for thieves and they should get a nerf too.
Generally i am the same opinion like others, there shouldnt be such a high burst in less than 1sec.
GOD you are SHALLOW minded. Its a macro, its against the rules, yet people are using it and they think its fair game.
Why do you think its a macro? I really dont see any evidence for it. And calm down guy – no need to be abusive.
You dont think people can react in short time? Then why the hell am i always hearing: “l2p, dodge thieves attack”, even if they precast BS or Cnd before steal.

Really – you complain about the mesmers damage? He reacted really fast – pressed several keys in really short time and deserved to kill you. Look how much damage you was doing to him with just pressing 1-F1. Thats ridiculous too, and you had the advantage of knowing the time you attack. And you are pure glass-cannon.
Obviously you had the advantage of beginning the fight and you lost because he was better.
But i dont see any clue that this should be a macro.

I play a mesmer and IMHO this buff is just ridiculous. I dont even know why they think they had to do it – because nobody asked for it. The shatter-build was strong enough without that buff, perhaps to strong.
But instead of making other builds more attractive they buff the one 90% of mesmers are playing.
Well – thats ANets conception of balancing. I really loose my faith in them with each “patch” a little more.
I thought they said that they dont wanna lock utilities now? But the last tPVP (paid) all my utilities were locked – its like i am infight all the time (no triangle).
Did i missed something?
I wonder if there is any reason why ranks are only shown at the end of a round? I dont see any disadvantage if it would be shown all the time.
What was the intention of this decision? Any ideas?

He asked if the major trait “phantasmal haste” ist bugged, because he cant see any difference in CD for illusion-casting skills.
I dont get it why weapons, amulets .. are restricted, but IMHO classchange during a match is still possible. Thats ridiculous.
Not your CD is shorter, but their attackspeed. The time between their attacks is shorter (for example time between two salves of duellist)
So for example, if you are a elementalist and cast ring of fire and then magnetic grasp while standing far away from your enemy you get nearly 1 min of fury?
Other possibilites work same – for protection, swiftness ….
Or you can cast Frozen ground, then use magnetic grasp and you’ll gain >40 sec frost aura —> gaining these buffs too all the time (ok this doesnt work in tpvp because you cant switch weapons)
Or use a waterfield —> complete heal for ele.

I really wonder what Jonathan Sharp meant by: “we have the ability to fix extremly high priority thing quickly …” Hu? Really? I mean bugs that are gamebreaking like the loading-screen-bug wasnt fixed for a long time .. and i dont wanna know how long you need to fix this mesmer-bug. Until fix – its simply not possible to play a mesmer in tpvp.
Is there any way to reproduce this bug? Perhaps special weapon combinations or utilitys or something like that? Bug didnt happen to me yet.
Gnaa – its not a matter of the costs. Really – every seriously interested player for paid has enough tickets. The problem is the long waiting time. I even dont think its a problem to get stomped by really good teams – but then you have to wait another 1-2 hours for your next try. So … instead of waiting and standing around these guys just go for free pvp (as i do), because they want to play, not to wait.
If you lower the costs, then everybody would join the paid and noone would participate the free tournaments. And you dont really want everybody to join paid … cause then there wouldnt be a sense for seperation between free and paid.
We all know why there are few players.
And even if it is sad, but IMHO GW2 will never recover from ANets faults. Sure, some guys will come back – but i doubt that the active pvp community will grow with factor 5 or more. Everything else would be insufficient.
No bunker can stand vs 4 enemies – excpept these 4 ones are lvl1-beginners. I guess it was in hotjoin – but you should know that this is totally different from tpvp.
I see lots of pre-mades still in free tourney. Are they just too bad to play paids, or don’t want to pay for them?
Dont want to wait 1 hour for a tournament – and then be stomped on first map just to wait another hour.
Along this question, what about boons you apply to others? I would assume it affects self-applied boons and boons you apply to others, but not boons others apply to you. But that’s just an assumption.
Its absolutly correct. Boon duration affects boons you give either yourself or your teammates, but not the boons you receive from your teammates.
I have no hope that this will be fixed. I also have no hope that it wont’t be possible to kill the lord without pulling his adds in the future.
And the funniest thing ist – that some guys log out at the middle of the game – log in back with a thief – kill the lord – and log back (or just stay on thief then). Ridiculous that it is possible to change the class while playing a tourn.
Just go to the mists and take a look at your pvp locker and the amulets. It isnt really hard to understand.
Armor and weapons have different skins – but no stats.
Stats are gained with amuletts, runes and sigils.
Yes – it was nice to mention it from Avalor – but you see the reaction: laughing. And what does Josh do: “Well yeah – the old state was pretty rough”. Hö? Who cares the old state – the question was about the new state.
Well – Avalor didnt got a answer and Jonathan simply said “Its on our watch-list” – but i dont think that he really meant the mistform – more the downstate in general and the HP in downstate.
This is totally ok – i dont see that anything should be wrong doing that. Many classes change weapons out of fight to gain a boon (for example: swiftness) and switch back to regular weapons later.
…and you can see the game from their point of view, watching their cooldowns, how they play, etc to learn from it much better.
And i expect this from spectator mode too. Who cares about a free-fly cam in spectator mode? They should take a look at DotA2-spec mode. Thats the way it should be – anything else would be disappointing.
The downstate is ok – and its an tactical issue – i dont wanna miss it.
But some downed-skills are just not balanced and i hope there will be a rework.
And it shouldnt be possible to stomp in stealth. No possibility to counter it for many classes.
First of all – i dont think its a good idea to make it possible for players to leave without penalties. I really think there should be a penalty.
Second: If a player is switched to the outnumbered team – he/she will get the winning bonus, no matter if the team really wins or not.
And you say that you really worked hard for the team to win. How hard is it to win with a team, that has more players (>=2)?
In hotjoin nobody really cares about winning or loosing – its only stupid zerg and capture points. How often do you see point-defenders there?
And thats the point – the players learn to PvP in hotjoin-zergfest and wonder how hard their first tournaments are. They complain that they have to fight vs premades, but they dont even use TS. They are still standing with more than 1 player on a point to capture – and play for points, not for the win.
But its not their fault – its ANets fault. There are many suggestions how to break the zerg — but nothing is done.
Ranger is one of the easiest classes to play… Pyrial has it right, results however are not so good…
No .. surely not. Its more than to press 2 or 5 while on longbow. Many rangers dont even know how to play their ranger good.
But if you really do a good job as a ranger – a warrior for example is just cud for your pet.

It is bugged. But you can use the cannon in the battleground Raid on the Capricorn.

I think the main problems are the lack of communications with the community and that ANet just ignores bugs, exploits and unbalanced skills / builds for weeks or months (best example: loading screen bug – which is game-breaking).
There were so many good suggestions in this forum how to make PvP better, more interesting and so on … but ANet doesnt even reply in these threads. Take a look in how many threads a staff-member wrote something constructive (not “threads have been merged”, “topic was edited” …).
People reported tons of bugs and exploits, but they didnt get fixed for ages. But concerning the loading-screen bug they say “the more detailed your reports, the faster we can fix it”. Thats not the experience players have made when reporting bugs and exploits.
Concerning hotjoin: Its a massive zergfest. Thats not the way players new to pvp should learn how to pvp. They think its totally normal to run around with 3-5 teammates and capture the points, then run away to the next point. And if they join free tourn. they wonder why they have no chance to win.
There could be some changes concerning point-capture that could help. More people of one team results in a longer capture-time. So its fastest for 1 player (8s), 2 players need longer (12s) and so on. If there is a point-fight 2vs3 guess what: the point will be captured for the team of the 2 players. Why? They deserve it – they played 2vs3. If they die – the point will be taken back, but as long as they survive the point ticks for them. Fine.
You shouldnt get glory for capturing points, perhaps then the players wouldnt try to capture the point with 4 guys instead of helping teammates out or preventing the enemies to get on the point.
And why do you need new maps without any objectives? You can just hotjoin and kill – and you have fun.
But that’s nothing for better players – they want to play with tactics, with objectives, with teamplay, strategies and so on.
I dont get it why it takes so long to fix that bug. Really – make it to your priority .. tournaments dont make much fun with that bug.
Rifle – warrior 16k? Never, thats simply not true.
And even if it would be – you know the charge-time for that skill, and the animation? What should be hard to avoid this shot?
And please … stop that “pay attention” .. you can only pay attention to things you see. You cant pay attention to a stealthy thief Oo
Here is reason you are bad: you focus on your 1v1 too much. As you said, your problem is when thief joins fight you insta-die. Pay attention next time to more than just your opponent. Any warrior or dps ele could do same thing to you. Situation you describe is your own fault. Accept it and get better.
I pay attention in a fight. The difference is – you see a warrior or a ele coming .. but you dont see the stealth-thief. And he can port with steal from a distance of 900. And in a 2v2 or 3v3 or whatever – you dont have a chance to avoid this high damage.
A warrior needs adrenaline for his eviscerate and it has 10 secs cooldown – the thiefs can backstab instant without cd (sure – initiative is needed, but there isnt lack of it if he joins a fight).
The 100b are easily dodged, blocked or you get stability … no problem.
Same problem here – hope they’ll fix it faster this time … pvp isnt enjoyable with loading-screen bug.
As i read the thiefs comments here in this thread – i only can laugh.
Really – should this vid be a help to counter a thief? If you are already in a fight and a thief joins the fight – i want to see you how to stunbreak within 0,25sec – as shown in this vid. Ridiculous.
We should do other builds just to survive backstab-thiefs? Come on! Dont be childish.
I dont get the sense of a pvp-game where its possible for 1 class to kill an enemy within 1-1,5secs without the need of any skill. Just press 3 buttons … and you are done.

And even if you use your stunbreaker (if available) – you have to use your heal-skill immediatly – wow … and now the thief goes in stealth and attacks a few secs later again. Thats PvP how it should be .. .yeah .. right. Oo
Why should a thief do such high damage? And please dont say — “hey the warrior does high kittenoo”. He hasn’t got stealth, its easy to dodge bulls-rush, the only high-damage skills are 100blades(may not move) and eviscerade (high CD).
Its very easy to avoid these skills.
Ah – and if you wanna play your thief really good – just spam 2, you dont even have to follow the enemy – you’ll get an auto-follow for free.
hu? I’ve never heard that someone has fps problems on the pvp maps. There are max 16 players.
You can’t expect that a game in the year 2012 runs smooth on a 8yo computer.
IMHO that is an exploit, because you use a map-design-mistake and have an advantage. The other team has no chance to stop you from killing the lord.
I dont know why ANet doesnt fix that or say something about that issue (there are other threads about this topic).
Hope that will be fixed with next patch too – its simple unbalanced.
I would appreciate a good combat log too, but the one gw2 uses at the moment is (sorry for that) ridiculous. I am familiar with combat logs from other games and you get a ton more of informations there.
As kittenon already mentioned, the timestamp is useless at the moment.
I dont see the reason, why healing shouldnt be in the combat log (and who did the healing to you – or who received healing from you).
The combat-log has to be exportable (to a txt-file for example), so i can inspect it unhurriedly.
It should be possible to switch wether you want to see condition and boon applys or not.

there is a problem with vengeance i think. If you activate it while being downed and die within the next 10secs because players killed you and you teleport back to the spawn-point, you will die there again because of vengeance – taking the full 20sec spawntime.
I dont think that works as intended.
Hm – no problem with female human here too. But you know that you have to wait until the glass is broken? Dont jump the first time you see the clock.
