yaaa, I thought over time it would get better. Well at least we can see each other now, but what good is that if we can’t swing. Even trying to respawn is lagtacular.
A T-shirt with “[F] Talk” written onto a green paintbrush stroke just like in the game.
not too happy seeing traps on a different class. It was something that set my trapper apart :/
I just want the [F] Talk with the green paint brush stroke behind it for a shirt.
One thing that bothers me in WvW is that the ‘strategy’ to win the matches is to cap a place for the tick (when points are given) and then just abandon it without upgrading it because in 5-10 minutes it will be capped by an other team. Then just recap it again by the time the tick rolls around.
Honestly I find the whole thing pretty contradictory to an open world war. It doesn’t feel like there is any reason to hold anything. So why not make it so holding point generators worth every second?
make points gained by caps every second or at least every minute.
thoughts?
afterthought speculation: maybe it will split up zergs to cap multiple things at once because attacking one place only warrants one cap and that is not as efficient if time is points
idk what kind of runes, sigils or buffs you use and those can make a difference. i hope your talking about wvw o_o and not pvp
ya, its WvW
My runes on my armor are superior evasion because of the cripple which is turned to immobalize from a trait which gives me fury and the roll itself gives me swiftness and fury (stacking duration).
I’m using a sigil of air, nullification and purity on my weapons. I just don’t see much use for other sigils.
From what I’ve read from the thread so far is that the play style of my warrior demands sniping the already injured people more than a 1v1 of someone who is paying attention at least as far as elementalists and thieves. Surely if I was in a group fight things would be different.
So I have been running my warrior, Greatsword, Sword + Axe, but I cannot seem to kill thieves or elementalists. I can slam them for half their health or more quickly but I can never finish the job without them kiting me, healing faster, and doing more damage to me over time till I’m downed.
What are a thieve’s and elemetnalists bane?

Makes me want to pull out my ranger and poison the crap out of their healing shenanigans.

The first 3 replies are correct, it needs to be the same server to show this kind of issue. However, ping over 2k is obviously a problem with the game. I mean, if you were on a server that is on the other side of the world you would have <300 ping even if you had just a decent connection
There is an issue with server connections regardless of whether the image provided is solid proof or not just because of how high the ping is.
I have also experienced the ping issue. Typically I have 50-80 ping in GW2, but lately it spikes over 1,000 and sometimes sits around 120-150 for no reason.
Naw, it just looks coooler
I’ve been having very high lag spikes in this game since late this afternoon with my ping going over 1000 and as high as 4000 or more. Typically I have a ping averaging around 50-80. This is the only game that I have been having a ping issue with. Anyone else experiencing lag spikes?
would be nice to be able to change races though. I made a human ranger as an alt but ended up being my main. Everyone plays human… I would rather be Charr.
While there is work on getting female animations fixed, can we get Charr paw prints fixed too as they are still backwards? kinda been a problem since… before release.
just what I need to fight, things that can outlive my ranger more
I would highly recommend switching Signet of Stone with fire trap. If you are going to have condition damage, I would suggest using it.
also, with s/d as part of your build, I would recommend changing some of your traits to get benefits from their ability to evade more often.
here’s my carrion build

Playing 4 hrs a day for a week I make 12 gold by selling mats after salvaging everything I get during WvW and dailies. so, 12 gold / 7 days = about 1.7 gold a day.
In the end, I can buy any exotic armor I like off the trading post when a character hits 80.
I don’t see any reason to farm for gold in this game. Farming isn’t fun and gold is worthless when gems to gold is crazy high and continues to increase.
But that’s not my point, sorry if I wasn’t clear enough.
You’re basically saying that we should attack the same mob right?
What about items that you have to pick up, or cows to feed. For instance, if you have to feed 10 cows to renown, why can’t I feed 5 and my friend another 5?
It is lame to have to wait for a group member to finish their heart quest but making everyone do an equal part prevents the parts of speed leveling that goes against the slow and tedious MMORPG level grinding.
Real life sport. lol.
sitting behind a computer screen does not make it okay to be a d/bag.
using emotes to boast a win is rude and those who do spam, especially those who /laugh when they beat you should be reportable. It is bad sportsmanship, it is punishable in real life, it should be the same in game.
this race could be a fun addition to the game for those looking for something different in GW2
my thrown attacks like, Impale on my warrior and Crippling talon on my ranger, get obstructed in open space. There is nothing to block these attacks, yet they almost always get obstructed in a heated PvP enviroment.
no reason to alienate people who play PvP and those who don’t.
using gold → gem conversion is what is probably hurting income the most which is probably why a lot of trains and loot drops have been nerfed. Slowing gold income would get people to spend [more] real money to get gems.
I remember when gold was worth more than gems. Now, gold is only a 10th the worth of a gem and its still going down.
playing my trap ranger and having a very hard time with turret engis. Here is the typical scenarios and my apparent bad solutions:
engineer gets close and turret drops with AoE spams. I try to dodge it all only to run out of dodge and get hit by another engi pack.
engi drops turrets so I range, but don’t do enough damage to kill turrets while the engi just sits there, attempting to pull me in which leads to a super long and boring fights; I usually just move on.
A decent fight with an engi who is low on health. The engineer proceeds to drop a health turret and water blasts back to full health and instantly becomes mega aggressive and nukes me.
are there any openings against a turret engi that a trap ranger can exploit? I’m using sword + dagger / shortbow
running a trap ranger with sword/dagger + short bow. It is very viable when I go into a 1v1.
Your posts mentions group fights and I would have to say… be something other than ranger… at least in my experience. Any group fight I always get bum rushed. People believe rangers are an easy rally so they rush them. Not that rangers are any easier a rally than an some of the other classes but because I always get nuked on sight, it ends up furthering people’s belief in it. It sucks being ranger for that very reason, but sometimes it is fine I guess for any teammates because they can easily come down on enemies to deal damage for people trying to double down me since they stick to me like a leach.
Are you kidding? That’s the best part of being a ranger. A few days ago I got to kill the same warrior outside of bay four times in a row because he couldn’t accept losing to a ranger. When I’m roaming with a small group I can lure people away from the safety of a camp, or their group because they want to kill me so bad.
Rangers are pretty close to mesmers and thieves when it comes to evading and escaping damage. If people are intent on focusing you just use it to your advantage.
It’s true, people underestimate rangers and it is a lot of fun that way especially with my ranger whom I built to be great at punishing aggressiveness. Maybe it’s the people I run across but whenever I encounter a group of other players, they all target me. I would love to have your experience where single targets deciding to deviate from their group. It happens every once in a while, usually hammer warriors, but most of the time, I get nuked by necros, CCed by warriors, and crate dropped by engineers almost instantly as a skirmish starts; maybe I should stand 1800+ range back and wait a couple seconds for everyone to expend all their skills now that I think about it. Though I wouldnt be doing any damage… shortbow only goes 900 range and I can’t throw traps. I could dodge spam at a fight start, but that only gets a ranger so far and depletes what my ranger is good at, countering.

what weapons are you planning on using? are you using traps?
weapons like sword/dagger can pull a lot of evasions which would allow for less health and more condition damage… Less health because the plan is not getting hit.

mind set of these threads
1: “help I beat the game to my hearts content, why is there no game left to play? I demand more game”
2: “I’m moving to another game that is better”
3: repeat steps 1-2the goal of developers is to keep these guys coming back and spending money periodically. So yeah, they have to either create a content someone loves to play again and again, or keep creating new content, or both. Thats the business they are in. If they cant do it, and were only good for one release, well i guess they can just keep trying to release in new markets. that could last a decent amount of years. I mean they have already made profit and continue to profit, the only question is if they are maximizing profit, who knows, who cares, as a player my main goal is to have an entertaining game to play. Right now, i havent played GW2 much, in last few weeks, and not feeling much need to. So ehh
yes, this is true, but when people ask for more content in the form of expansions and my previous post validates itself. The Living Story is a great answer to the problem, but so far, Anet has not hit the mark as to what people are looking for. Even if the event does well however, people manage to complete the content in a single day only to complain about it as if Anet didn’t spend a lot of time building it.
I’m also at the eeehh, point with GW2, but I keep coming back to it since its the only MMO out that fills the void of MMOs I am willing to play.

Ever since the mega server switch I’ve been having trouble getting some of my skills to go without needing to press them twice. I have this issue in both, PvE and PvP.
collisions would change this game for the better imo. It would force creating surface area in WvW blobs to surround their enemies instead of running through them.
Using bodies to block people would actually give reason make formations to utilize combo fields instead of dropping them all on top of the blob. Think about it -goes off wishfully- dropping fire combo fields for ranged weapons that are behind door blocking, hundred blading warriors. Elementalists to assist in water blasts and AoE on the funneling enemy. -comes back to reality- …. it would be like real life…

people need to realize, expansion content will take as long to beat as getting all the achievements in Living Story content.
my build focuses on using traps and evading a lot with the skills provided by the weapons; conveniently applying poison on sword/dagger skills. Getting hit by a critical or using a healing spell generates more dodge availability to be really pesky at holding down. The bow is great for reapplying and applying burn damage to targets via self combo from fire trap.
A debit card will work if its a card they accept, like a visa. It should work regardless of location unless your bank blocks transactions that may seem fraudulent.
source: I use my visa debit card as a ‘credit card’ when I purchase gems
I was in a huge zerg going for Arah when I couldn’t attack when the Risen high Wizard spawned
So, in the end, I spent an hour waiting for the spawn only to be there and get no credit for the 20 seconds it took for him to die. Guess I’ll be spending 3 gold to get the trait; I’m not waiting 2 more hours.
I’m unsure about this problem they are talking about having to go to town and buy a book; it wasn’t hard, nor difficult to understand, and people end up in towns with trainers all the time. Now players are forced to find specific locations littered around the world to unlock specific traits which is more time consuming than going to town and buying a book to get traits in bulk.
from the Ready Up – Ep 8
devs are happy to announce the removal of trait books as to take away the awkward moment of going to town to buy a book that unlocks high level traits.
Now characters have to go to particular places around the world map and unlock traits if not go to town and buy new singular traits
How is this…? what? huh? my head hurts double face palm
I find traps to be the best way to overcome the lack of damage elsewhere.
paw marks left behind from the Char are still backwards.
is this not as easy as to change the map used to make the marks vertically?
I’m frustrated… asura warriors that are the smallest their race can be are nearly impossible to see using telegraphed skills.
Why can’t I just punt the buggers they are about football size.
It’s not about having a vast sum of currency. It’s about being able to buy the different skin (armor and weapon) and to gear up my character with money that I made playing the game instead of money that I made being on the TP.
Gearing up your character ends up being expensive. And right now I have to make a choice between playing the game and making little amount of money to gear up, or play the tp, and make huge amount to gear up.
Edit: And it would also be about being to gear up by looting what you need!
not much reason to play the Trading Post to get gold if you are just aiming for gear. Just salvage everything that doesn’t go well on the TP which is pretty much anything below yellow quality and eventually sell the 250 stack; I don’t craft so why keep them. In doing so I’ve made enough gold to just buy exotic gear from the TP with that stats I want and then transmute the looks I want from <level 10 items. Dungeon armor skins are a different story though… have to ‘grind’ those still.
There are hot spots for mats in a number of places that are easy enough to just port to (Ex: queensdale has 2 places with a lot of copper). Also PvE dailies force PvE combat which almost certainly entails trash loot to just salvage and sell the mats on top of any gathering done while doing dailies.
meh, not the most profitable, but full exotic gear really only costs ~20 gold per character unless you are getting Culture armor, but that isn’t a problem while selling mats either from my experience.
P.S. Karma for gear is dirt cheap too since you can get it from stocking daily+monthly (x karma boost).

here is a sword+dagger / shortbow build I made. I get told it’s a beast in sPvP and it does just as well in WvW. The only issue is bunker builds especially those using Hammer/bow… you can’t kill them without some serious work because they’ll just heal if you don’t keep the dps up.
stealth thieves run over the traps, so getting them down is simple enough without having to really attack them.

just wait it out, eventually one of the NPCs distracts her and you can just walk up and stomp; it’s what I ended up doing.
If you want to finish Scarlet and not get the achievement, yes. If you want the achievement “Nowhere to Hide”, you need to finish Scarlet before she pops her shield, which is when Kasmeer will distract her.
ah… people are very bad at saying everything that there is to know on this forum… Especially bad when it comes to acronyms -.-
just wait it out, eventually one of the NPCs distracts her and you can just walk up and stomp; it’s what I ended up doing.
Pros
- having to run to particular colors or all colors to do damage was much better than having to just swing at the boss till it died.
- clearly telegraphed attacks that did damage make it engaging. Instead of taking the hit unknowingly and dieing or just standing there because mediocre hits and blast heals
Cons
- the boss took faaaaaar faaaaar faaaaar (can I stresss it enough?) faaaar too long to beat
- the boss took too long to kill
- the boss took too long to kill
- the boss took too long to kill
- the boss took too long to kill
- the boss took too long to kill
- the boss took too long to kill
- the boss took too long to kill
- the boss took too long to kill
- the boss took too long to kill
maybe not enough emphasis for almost 25 minutes of auto attack….
- the boss took too long to kill
overall, the final boss fight it was decent.
meh I kinda found it cute.
also maybe it happened before, I don’t know, but don’t forget the make-out session. That was like… eeeh okay shrug
If you have forward and back buttons on your mouse, combine your skills to them.
Use:
ctrl + button
shift + button
middle mouse + button
doing so will allow you to move freely without taking a finger off WSAD or left and right click on the mouse which I highly recommend you use for camera movement.
GW2 has the same set up as every other MMO I’ve played; I can’t really think of a way to change it since it is no different than any shooter out there. Cameras and movements linked to them belong on the mouse.

what MMO is releasing in 5 weeks…?
