My guard had 2 sets of armor about a year ago I think one was the draconic zerker gear and the other gear I can’t recall off hand but It was from melandru event karma npc? Full set.. Looked awesome don’t really recall the stats on it.

I’m playing Ranger myself and I have killed a Ranger in underwater combat, so we are not that hard to kill underwater. knock back the pet,interrupt, kill it. Avoid the Ranger to get to the surface for healing.. Problem solved!

Wow I didn’t even know that Jotun greatsword existed! I think it’s model is on par with something that you would normally have to craft in the mystic forge. I grabbed one last night for my norn ranger and it looks phenomenal (transmuted over my mystic claymore)!

What kind of fighting style do you like? Close or Range?

I mainly use Greatsword and Longbow.. On other days I like to use 1hand sword+offhand. It depends on which situation you are in^^ If you can adapt each situation before entering combat you can easily learn the ranger Unless if you are in WvW.. Then it is Greatsword and Longbow for me in there or Greatsword and 1hand sword+offhand.

I use 30/0/30/10/0 most of the time on my ranger

For the rest.. I have followed this forum most of the time and see people bashing each other and Q_Q about a lot of stuff and some guys testing dmg on dummies and making some work with math, but in the end… It still comes down to -> Who is controlling the mouse and keyboard..

So people can keep on argue to find the best build. What I did myself was make my own build and take it from there, polish it and use it in both WvW and PvE-> Find you own “Golden Egg” and cherish it!
Some are suited to play ranger, others are not..

Like most of the people has begin to say; Rangers are not that bad!

My only problem is that people are mostly crying about DPS this and DPS that as if DPS is the only idea of this game. It’s a “casual game” and not an elitist-type game, where everything is counted in numbers.

I’m a Human ranger and I’m so happy about the greatsword from Ascalonian Catacombs, but I was thinking of gettin Super greatsword skin, but then again… I’m almost done with sunrise, so why bother to get Super Greatsword skin xD

What do the most successful fantasy MMOs have in common? They had elves! People love elves. Remember EQ? And then WoW.

GW2 would have been better off not trying to be so original, and just stick with the races that people know and love. I’d guess that 80% of players dislike the Charr and Asura races. The Sylvari are not much better, although I suppose they are the closest you can get to an elf.

As far i remember, this is neither WoW or EQ! Guild wars has its own lore and truth to be told! I’m happy about there are no elves!
The race close to the elves are the sylvaris. Firstborn and tree huggers like elves^^

I do like my charr warrior( My big fur bomb in plates of steel) and my little asura elementalist(6 Feet tall!!! Sticks and stones will break your bones, small wheeling legs and funny jumps with bouncy ears)

But if you dislike Guild Wars for not having any elves or orcs. Then stick to mainstream fantasy universe in Lord of the Rings, EQ and WoW.

I run a lvl 80 ranger and really enjoy the play style. Had several hunters in WOW so rolling up a ranger was only natural. The only aspect I don’t enjoy is the pet system.
I’m not even sure where to begin with the problems I have with ranger pets so I won’t.
What I would like to know is how other rangers feel about the choice of running a ranger build without pets. For example, if you really wanted a pet then you would have to throw points into beastmaster traits. For rangers that didn’t want a pet then they would have pet damage factored into weapon damage and deal with creating a build that would have to down opponents asap before they got into melee range.
Anyway just food for thought b/c I’m really getting fed up with how useless pets are in areas of the game like WvW.

Place the trait as I have in my signature, it works and you are able to survive, if any more questions. Feel free to whisp me ingame

I can remember a funny thing from WvW, I was chased by 3 other invaders, so I decided to jump down from some cliffs where i knew i could survive. 50% fall dmg.. what could go wrong? Nothing, but for the 3 invaders it worked the other way around xD

When I hit the ground I got up and placed some traps, they jumped down and landed right on my traps..I think they didn’t have fall dmg trait on, since my traps downed them. (Tunnel vision is a nasty thing in WvW )
So it was 3 easy pole stomping xD
I just had to dance xD

I am aiming to acquire a legendary through sweat blood and tears^^ though I have played since release my real life take up some ingame time, but I think in a few months I might end up with sunrise^^
Just missing Charged lodestones and 100 gold for Icy runestones and then I’m done.

Try Pow, tough, vit and put some power,tough, crit in accessories.
This is mostly for dungeons since it doesn’t matter in the open world map.

I would only recommend Full berzerker if you got a Guardian in the team that got a support build.

But since you choose axe/torch I suppose you are not very fond of going into close combat.

What is your build in trait btw?

LB/GS if you are running with others in WvW, Signet of Stone or Protect Me utility, Lightning reflexes.. We got plenty to use against thieves

Imo Rangers are awesome when situation calls for survival. There was once where some guy at the front triggered off all the mines at CoF P3, knocking out 3 of us who were running behind & a Ranger survived. Bcos we were deemed as in combat, we were unable to respawn & the poor ranger had to solo the drake pet. It took him ard 15 mins, & we could respawn without running through the mines again.

At level 80 this is:

130 + (0.125 * Healing Power) per second
Its taken from Wiki’s website, but I really hope you will sit down and calculate how much you get from your build^.^
And then compare it to a setup without healing, but as mentioned above^

After the new update.. and before the update, spirits will one likely be one shotted in dungeons and it is an annoying thing. But try it out! and see what happens, though don’t expect spirits to survive for a long time in any dungeon…

Advice-> lvl it the normal way to 80, when you hit lvl 80 take a few hours off. Make yourself a cup of coffee or whatever you prefer to drink. Look through all your traits.
By them time you have hit lvl 80 you should have found out which play style fits you the best.
Pick your calculator look up on gw 2 wiki and find the skill and trait tree. There should be some equations how to calculate how much you get out of each trait and skills.
It is worth the effort. I did it with my ranger

Find your play style and see if it is worth to put some effort in the gear to get that suits your style.

If I mention my build, perhaps it doesn’t fit with your style. Go and make your own build and then come back and perhaps we can come with ideas to what could be done to it^^

We are not unwanted in high lvl content. There are bad players that deny Rangers and Engineers. Bad experiences with these classes… but hey I am sometimes on the edge to kick glass cannons from my party. I dislike them in high lvl content!! and I’m talking about Warriors, Mesmers, Ele’s gets one shotted! in high lvl content. I just don’t like people that downs all the time. But I still give them the chance to come with me though I get my daily healer pretty fast xD

Greatsword kinda has those higher hitting numbers that are nice. But maybe when I look into being able to be Buff-Man! And rock out with a couple spirits, and healing. Could ignore anything that isn’t a one shot then.

Remember you got auto evade on you greatsword if you auto attack with skill 1. It causes evasion

30/0/30/15/0 and if anyone asks why no points in traits for pet? because I run in fractals and pet is useless most of the time. It also works in dungeons. I got tired of the pets got one shotted by AoE even almost full bm trait.

@Othayuni, one handed sword works perfect for some, but it takes time to master. I have seen several rangers try my build and failed instantly.. It takes practice with 1handed sword, but when you learn how to use it. Its one of the best^^

On some bosses in PvE I would not advice people go into melee range, but it works great when it is possible to use it

How can you even suggest that a party where almost 40 people were involved should go somewhere else because of 4 kitten ? Like you said its a “WvW-celebration” so it was hosted in wvw, in a area that has no strategic value, a area usually used to host duels and such (the windmill south of champions lodge).
If you guys want to prove what “leet pvpers” you are, go make a tpvp team or make a organized group to roam in wvw (im sure you`ll be able to with those hundreds of members) and prove how good you are. Backstabbing a few GH using mystery tonics and not fighting back in by no means a show of skill, it`s just trolling and acting like total kitten and will be either ignored by most wvw regulars or just answered with even more trolling.
If that is the role you and your guild will play in the FSP wvw community please let us know.

Kaleygh I’m not going to decide what you have to do. I think that the suggestion that was mentioned above from one of the GH players was a nice idea.

Well since I can see there is different stories about this case.. Sigh..
Anyway the way I got my eyes on it was that the person(not from RoP) who was offended/insultet by another player from our server during that party. He told me about it that someone had mentioned RoP on the forum. (So there were clearly others than RoP there)
But since this is going to end up in a “throw dirt” competition…

But before you are going to blacklist all of us from RoP from PvE/WvW parties. Do you really mean that 4 members out of a 500 member guild(around 110+ RoPs online each day) crashed a party in a warzone is enough reason for you to blacklist a guild?

If it is really such a problem that 4 members crashed a party, why haven’t you kept the matter in mind and asked another RoP member about who our leader is or if an officer is online?

But now you know it and therefore next time write a mail to me here or ingame if anything else happens like this above. I can’t keep an eye on every member of the guild and monitor them…

But I hope people will take the suggestion mentioned further above about a WvW-celebration party by taking advantage of the “server guesting system” into consideration, so we far out in the future don’t see something like this happen again.
Other people will come and crash the party someday, but when a Banquet is seen on the map, well it attracts people.. unfortunately

It’s sad to see and hear some people from Far Shiverpeak is bad mouthing another guild on the same server. Just because some guys/girls have placed the duel spot behind a supply camp and some from our guild are attracted by the sound of battle?

To be honest I’m kind of against interrupting a duel, but how should some outside people know it is a duel? We are entering World vs World vs World-> Open Pvp/PvE area where killing another player from another server is allowed= Badges

Now that being said, why do you people choose to place a duel spot behind a supply camp? There is a lot of people running through that area and capping, just asking? Find another spot instead of near a supply camp..

we have continuesly said that this was a non combat area for fun.
it was the area at the mill where everyone holds their dual/parties all the time.
now if those particular people want to attack its their right to do so since its still a pvp area.
however, it also gives me the right to never play with anyone from that guild again since they have been complete kittens throughout the whole thing.
those particular 2 members have shamed your entire guild by this abysmal behavior and i assure you that im not the only one who thinks that.
i will badmouth guilds on my own server everyday when they act like 12 year old idiots.

I know they have crashed your party, but there are some particular members from a certain guild that should be ashamed of themselves for being that rude to go that far to say to a person that -> Lets say a particular person from Guild Y said; “Guild X” got very bad commanders and other not fun stuff to a person from “Guild X”.

Anyways as one from Gunnar hold suggest, make a guesting on another server and celebrate the end of WvW there with dance party and such stuff. Unless you want to PvP-Duel in WvW and end up with the same stuff again.

Oh and btw instead of blacklist a whole guild? Why not contact an Officer or Leader of that guild and tell them the story instead we have to find out that some people are badmouthing our guild, through others?

:A little side note: I have heard that several people got reported for not so fine language down there during that little celebration event.

Kesuh it was out of the way. You would not normally run that south of south camp at all…. There were no sounds of battle. No cross swords on the map since we were dancing along and just plain having fun.

Your people were repeatedly told by people on your own server who were taking part as to what was going on so even that excuse falls flat.

But in future we will invite people to guest on a server and we will just all hang out on a PVE map at the close of a match.

Fair enough, but somehow they manage to find the whole lot of all people down there.

Anyways, it sound good with having a dancing party and just chit chat there talking about how the week went. We all dislike party-crashers though

I can give an advice, join a proper guild and do a full guild run on arah path 4! and put that pet on avoid combat.
Never ever do Arah path4 in random pugs. its not worth it at all.

Before the new updates I was on a guild run, 4 Warriors and 1 Ranger. The Ranger kept us alive with support and threw tears on us, so we didn’t get paralyzed too much. Rest of us the 4 warriors changed to pure berzerker gear and we completed Simin in 2nd try because first time the pet wasn’t on avoid combat xD

I haven’t done Arah path 4 on my own ranger yet and will never do it, but perhaps I should try it someday, but it is so different today from before the update.

I use this build in PvE and WvW and it works fine-> 30/0/30/10/0. I will not rely on my pet that almost get one shotted in most dungeons, but now that I jump around in higher fractals I have switched to 30/25/15.0.0..But heck higher dmg a lot, but lower survivability.. So I will soon change to the old build again and see how much difference the survivability does

Anyway-> Higher lvl dungeons and bosses like Lupicus and such stuff. Pet shall be on AVOID COMBAT!! Our pet is getting more and more useless.. Sorry to say but I have tried to run full beast master and mastered it to perfection, but sending pet into battle against bosses.. Well yeah the pet now needs two shots to get downed instead of 1 and grub spawn on pet, so… well pet on avoid combat and trust your own skills as a Ranger and kick the pet in the behind and say “shame on you!”

I have played Ranger since gw1 from 2005 and is kind of disappointed on the Rangers now, but I will not give up on the class. Funny to play and the pet makes the day even funnier when it agro something it was not supposed to do in a dungeon xD

I came across few trap rangers using shortbow, with sword and dagger in a condition build. I think they are abit overpowered with access to ccs by pets, very good condition damage with around 4/5 evades, + dodges and endurance regn if you have the right sigils.
AN said they will be nerfing dd eles which is understandable however if u lock an ele down or put a large amount of condition they will go down. however im yet 2 find a way around to beat the op trap rangers as i cant get close caz of traps, and if i do manage they have 2 many evades and dodges which means u cant even lock them on a place and even if u do they will just not take dmg. i think trap rangers r the most op class in this game and need some balance
