Hi! i’m new with this class.. and i’m lost. I’ve always player with my necro and the traits seems to be very well balanced for the things I want.

Polarization is big in this issue with the Ele. I found build 0/10/0/30/30 that looks like a very tanky build, but lower dps.. and the 30/30/0/10/0 build that looks like a glass cannon.

What is the most “common” build for something in the middle? Any guide link/youtube guid will we welcomed…

I got something similar to that, just I don’t use wells that much… more fan of spectral walk/corrupt boon/epidemic etc.

I really wouldn’t run condition damage past anything passive (Barbed Precision for example) as the condition removal in large scale fights is too strong especially with the heavy focus around Water Fields.

As Haz has also pointed out most front-line Warriors are running the new unstoppable build consisting of -65% condition duration -33% Cripple, Chill and Immobilize duration.

Warrior never were a problem.. at least with this build

MF is good but is terrible implemented…

  • First of all, it need a % CAP. Like, 150% for example. So you don’t need to use absolutly all with MF(food, gear, runes, jewels)
  • Disabled on DUNGEONS/FRACTALS.
  • It need to increase over time like a base stat. Exactly what Diable3 did with the paragon system.

I would like to point out a couple of things you may have overlooked. Main one being wells go great with power and this build has none. Although the corruption rips boons on pulse people never stand in it for more then 1-2 ticks, and the blind is defensive but would not need ground target since most of the time would want at your feet against the melee that closed the gap. The vulnerability well is the highest damage well but stacks with power and does very little without. Also the vulnerability does not effect condition damage.

Couple of things on play style you mentioned which are fine but would like to clarify for people. The dagger 4 is a blind but also an aoe condition transfer and recommend using that way. The staff 2 and 3 are great to place before a fight that you know is coming since they will stay there and last until the cooldown is back but the 4 wont. The 4 is also an aoe condition transfer and I would recommend saving it for that.

Thanks for the tips.. i’m far from being an expert and i will try to twist some points in this build.

About Wells, i understand that works better with power, but they tick 5 times, with a 50% chance of critical, and that is a lot!
With 300+(I.E. using spite Trail Line) you will do 30% more damage. Using gear and stuff, you probably get to 50-60%. But you loose other stats… Critical % is a risk, but works for me.
About need ground target.. this build is about “DPSing from the distance” but i see what you say, maybe i can make an “alternative” build using spite traits, with epidemic and Blood Is power instead of wells.

Not sure if i missed something but what do you do about swiftness in WvW?

If you need swiftness to go fast to a position you can change one slot to spectral walk… but in action you can change it back. Doens’t make much sense waste a good attack with that.

Like id said.. is not very efective against classes focused on stuns ….. but the build is very tanky, and ranged… you need to stay alert.

Never had problems against any professions, I defeat easily warriors , guardians and rangers…
It’s complicated in 1vs1 with Thiefs… but that is another story…

I will make some video showing how I play.

I saw that the Dagger + Dagger is very popular these days. I feel that the attack at close range is not for the necro, and make it very vulnerable, just a GlassCannon.

So I present mine, mostly concentrated in surviving, but also makes a huge amounts of damage in time with conditions and critical hits. Ideal also for WvWvW because can affect large areas and several players at the same time.

Traits:

Curses: +30

  • II: 20% increased bleeding duration.
  • IX: Well skills use ground targeting.
  • XI: Conditions by Scepter last 33% longer.

Death Magic: +20

  • II: Increase area of marks.
  • VIII: When disabled cause AOE fear.

Blood Magic: +20

  • V: Gain health by critical hit.
  • VIII: Wells recharge 20% faster.

Basically:

  • II: 20% increased bleeding duration.
  • XI: Conditions by Scepter last 33% longer.

For more Condition damage.

  • IX: Well skills use ground targeting.
  • II: Increase area of marks.
  • VIII: Wells recharge 20% faster.

This let you in create a complete MINED field in a few seconds. Causes a lot of AOE damage, give conditions, Blind.

  • VIII: When disabled cause AOE fear.
  • V: Gain health by critical hit.

Survivalism.

Gear:

  • Runes: 6/6 Runes of the unded. +Conditions Damage + Toughness. Exactly the two stats we are looking for.
  • Rabid Amulet + Rabid Jewel: Conditions + Precision + Toughness.
  • Sigils: Scepter/dagged: Agony(Cond. Damage)/Force(damage). Staff: Force(+damage).

The stats:

Rotation:

Staff:
Basically, before starting a battle, start filling the area of marks. Leaving the 5th (FEAR) for emergencies or CC. You give your foes Bleeding, Poison and Chilled. All of this is AoE.

Scepter:
Then you focus on a single target, using scepter and keeping them bleeding with autoattack.
Attacks 1, 2 and 5(AOE) put bleeding on your enemies, so is not hard to do it.
Use attack 3 when you want, but if better if your enemy have a couple of conditions.
4 gives blind. Use it wisely.
Go back to staff after sometime(when cooldowns are out ). Fill the area with marks again, and turn scepter again.

Wells:
You can cause Vulnerability, Blind and conditions to your enemies. Use them every time they are available.

Elite skills:
Lich form is for power builds. Besides i don’t like it because turns you into a giant creature. Just need a sign that says “kill me first.”. Too much cooldown.
Plague is cool (i use it for underwater), but causes conditions that one can generate by itself, also forces you to be close to the enemy you want to be affected. Too much cooldown.
So, the best option for me is the Flesh Golem. Short cooldown. Decent damage(besides, people use to ignore them), and have a amazing AOE Charge.

PROS:

  • very difficult to kill. I survived attacks 4 vs 1 long time.
  • Your AOE covers a huge area. Just look at the picture.

  • Usually not problems with 1vs1. They always have a hard time killing you, and you cand kill them with conditions in a medium time.
  • A lot of critical + Condition Damage.
  • Very noob friendly.

CONS:

  • You have a few CC. Not stability. So you can have a hard time with that. Stay away from thieves in 1vs1.
  • Not as effective in 1vs1 battles such as dagger + dagger. But what you lose in direct damage, you gain the tripe on your survival skills. So your enemy will have problems too.

1.Ok, first we’ll talk about the less important suggestion: Mounts. Now, I know, we have fast travel! We can just walk! I know that. But, really guys? Who DOESNT atleast LIKE mounts?

I Like mounts.. just this game doesn’t need it. I love Lightsabers.. but that doesn’t mean that this game should have it.

I mean, imagine riding a ghost horse! Or maybe a River Drake! Maybe even a CAR? Not a modern day one, maybe like a car you can buy from the Iron Legion? And we cant forget about flying mounts, maybe we could ride like… a little mini Shatterer? Or a mini Zhaitan? Maybe even a GIANT dragon? (For a lot of gold, that is)

So only goldfarmers could have it.. sounds great!

And yes, I KNOW about the riding broom and stuff, but THOSE don’t have speed boosts. It even says it in the item description!

Sooo YOU WANT go faster to a place.. use waypoints.. fastets than that, nothing.

2. Now, onto the second more important suggestion. We all remember the Zhaitan fight, right? How dissapointing it was? I mean, the dungeon was good, but the Zhaitan fight… just….

Agree on that.. but like you said, the entire dungeon was pretty epic.. i’m not even mad..

And for stuff like the Shatterer… he is just, not a challenge. We can all stand to the side of him and kill him without really anyone dying (Except for a few people who get to close.) My suggestion is, make it so the mini dragons can maybe… turn! Or have an ALL AROUND attack, so we can’t just camp at one side. And for the elder dragon fights… (Now I’m pretty sure Jormag is an elder dragon, but I might not be right. So bare with me on this) Don’t make it a 5 man dungeon and make it easy for us! Do something like, the Mad Kings Clock Tower! That had a gate with tons of people behind it and when it was ready, we could go in! Now, I know, it would be a TERRIBLY long queue time for any other groups, so give an idea for what else they could do!

Dragons need a completly remake… There must be a way to fail that events… and make everything worse for everyone..

This is one of the features I hated in World of warcraft, back in the older expansions we had to find the group, find the dungeon and work as a team to complete it.

The Looking For Group system was created and everything changed.

I found it made everyone lazy due to instantly teleporting everyone to the dungeon, players became increasingly rude due to the minimal effort required for forming a group or gaining entry to the dungeon (Running there).

The worst part was the cross server dungeon finder, these people you would probably never see again and because of this, no one cared what they said to each other and so there was rage, blame, loot ninjas everywhere.

If its just the server side group finder, I’m sorta fine with this because the player is on the server. People behave differently if they need to interact often with others. (Same people)

The problem was that WoW did too much.. we are not asking that.. just a simple method to find a group easily without using gw2lfg for example.

  • You have to go to the dungeon.
  • You have to speak/write anyway. In WOW dungeons you have your task assigned: DPS, HEALER, TANK.. so no need to talk. But here you need to talk about what are you going to do next.

Now that spectator mode and custom arenas are alive, what do you think about this:

*Free PvP account. *

  • Only access to the mist and structured PvP matches.
  • Gem store items cost about 20% more.
  • New forum section only for Free PvPers.

Some Limitations:

  • Adds in the login screen?
  • Limited Day/month playtime maybe?
  • 2-3 character slots?
  • Can’t use BLTC, and send messages.
  • Maybe he can wander around the starter PvE zone and complete the personal history used in that part?

30 Jumping puzzles……can I blow my brains out now? This is by far the least enjoyable thing there is in this game. Why not let us complete 5/6 items to get the Monthly/Dailies. Give players some choices.

I can tell you doing jumping puzzles with a Charr is pretty darn miserable.

Sorry but DODGE is a core mechanism of the game. If your computer can’t handle that, you have worse issues than completing the daily achiev.

There is a world of difference between dodging and getting “Evade” to proc. The window for proccing Evade is fractions of a second. If you dodge during a skill wind-up, Evade doesn’t proc. You have to wait until the split-second before the skill actually fires its damage-producing portion in order to get the successful Evade to count against the achievement.

The fact that you have to wait up until the point of very nearly getting hit by a big skill is what people are complaining about. Evade should proc through the wind-up of a big skill, since that’s when you’re most likely to dodge it.

Nope… Search for any enemy with AOE damage. Like the worms in Diessa. When you see the red circle, go into it. Dodge. EVADED. Done.

About the optional daily… they didn’t promise this in this patch. “Soon”

You’re being a bit aggressive, but alright, I’ll bite.
Most of the PvE content can easily be played without having to dodge. I personally use it often, because it’s easy for me and I find it fun, but you can play without it if your specs necessitate it.
It’s easy enough to 1. stack heals and buffs on yourself to not need dodge and 2. to kite the majority of attacks that are coming your way, especially from melee enemies. To add, though, the person I know who is in this situation couldn’t care less about dailies, he just plays the game to play the game, I’m just giving examples of how that daily could be problematic. Personally, my solution would be to skip doing dailies that day if you just can’t do ‘em until the 4/5 feature is implemented – it won’t kill you.

I don’t understand the point of rolling out the “new and improved” daily system without all of the features, but I guess by now such an attitude should be expected from ANet.

Sorry. .that was no my intention. I was talking about Dodging un dungeons now are like a must-do…

Because laurels is the easies currency to get. Thats why.

While technically it is easier than farming other currencies, it is very limited.

You can only get one Laurel from your Daily, and ten Laurels from your Monthly. So while the objectives are easy, they are limited in how much you can obtain within a time period.

Where a dungeon run you can keep doing over and over till you get enough tokens to buy what you want, laurels put you on a wait period that you can’t bypass. You are forced to wait to get what you want, unlike others that you can get right away.

So they may seem easier, but they are very limited compared to others. Thus making them harder to obtain compared to other currencies.

Dodge is one of the easiest achievement.. why you complain?

Although I haven’t had an issue with it, I can see how people would have issues with the dodge achievement – running on an older computer or a slower connection delays/lags people out, so timing your roll can be nearly impossible sometimes, even with some of the really long enemy animations.
This makes me wonder to what happened to “you don’t have to do every single daily to get a reward; you will have a choice.” Did ANet “forget” about saying this, or is it coming later?

•Fixed a bug that caused some minions to be overly aggressive.

They need to be more agreessive saying as they all dont ATTACK.

I made that video. In the first part you can see that the minion sometimes pull without control. That is a BIG issue. I’m glad that they fixed that.

  • Necrotic Traversal: Fixed a bug which caused this skill’s descriptionto display an incorrect amount of poison damage.
  • Spinal Shivers: Fixed a bug which caused this skill to enter its full cooldown if used when facing away from the target.

I think that the best way to balance downed state in sPvP is using the same skill bar for all the professions.

You initiated combat with ground targeting abilities.

You never once used your Golem’s utility skill to reset his attack.

You jumped off a cliff while attacking which screws up every pet/utility AI out there.

You ran up and let them attack you before attacking back while noting he didn’t defend you.

These are the issues everyone noted earlier. Again I am not saying the AI needs some tweaks. The second video gave a clearer example of issue that crop up as he did every trick that we like to use to reset them, and still had the Golem bug out though the fiend did reset.

While in the video, he didn’t do any of the things that are supposed to help “fix” or work around the minion bugs, I personally think that was his point. This (in my eyes) was a video to show players (and A-Net) who may or may not believe that we actually have minion AI issues, or think that we are exaggerating the issues we do have.

This video shows clearly the average gameplay of an average PvE player, who might not have any idea of the little work arounds we have figured out. Minions and Pets are supposed to defend you when you’re attacked, whether or not you attack back. And they do, sometimes. Also in PvE, I too often jump off cliffs with or without pets just because its something you do when travelling. We shouldn’t have to worry about little things like this, it should be working.

I know you’ve worked hard to make minions work. I can see it in the threads you’ve made. I think your the first person in a long time to admit they use a minion build, and share it on the forums, let alone offer solutions to some of the issues. But like I said, I don’t think this is the point of the video, it’s to show that there are some very big issues with our AI, and it gives a very clear example to anyone who watches what they are, and what may be causing them.

I don’t understand the people who said that you need to use the Knockback to reset the AI. Why? That is the real elite skill. I want to use when i need it, no to fix the AI.

mmm.. no i didn’t. In part 1,2 I always start with attack 1. In the last part, i did that, but i was showing that the Flesh was doing nothing.

Why I have to use to "reset" his attack? That knowback is the real Elite skill. I want to use it when i need it, no to fix the golem AI.

I jumped but is not a cliff. If you watch the video again you will see that the golem use the same path.

The Golem will attack eventually. So that means that i don’t need to attack first. That delay need to be fixed.

Anyway.. i can make another video without tricky moments. Only use skill 1. It’s free...
