Well I think its a matter of personal taste. Many a times the sentinels would stun me or place ring of warding before veil or during Mass Inv channel. But I think the key point is to stealth before hitting the first group of inquest and deadeyes since there isnt enough stability duration.
There is a slight advantage of possibly getting the defiler group and the inquest group to fight one another so anyone running after you will have a easier time.
Temporal Curtain out of range of Defiler’s pull attack. Gain speed buff and Into The Void to pull the Sentinels. Run in and dodge Defiler’s pull attack. Pop Power Break (mantra). Veil > Mass Inv before 1st Inquest and Deadeye group. Pop 2nd Power Break during Mass Inv channel. Prestige just before last group. Chances are that you will not even aggro the last group of Deadeyes/Risen.
That’s correct; you have the right to choose who you want to play with. But you don’t have the right to tell someone else how they should play their game. If someone is rolling a shout heal warrior in PvE and you don’t like that because it’s not DPS heavy enough for you, that’s kittening terrific. Find someone else to play with and let them do their thing with a different group. It’s really not a difficult concept, but it seems to be elusive to many of the ‘elite’ in this game, which is quite sad.

They complain in whisper, then head to the forum and complain there.
That’s just the thing. I doubt many of the people you’re calling “elite” care what casuals do. When they do care is when a person (shout heal warrior to continue the example) joins a party that they clearly do not meet the advertised specifications for (max dps/speed run) and complain via whispers/forums for being kicked.
This becomes even worse when said person proceeds to try to defend their build as viable for that type of run. That is when their build is going to get torn apart by the “elite” players because that player is trying to prove their ability of joining the “elite” runs – something they don’t meet the qualifications for.
If instead they’d recognize that those players wanted nothing to do with their playstyle and made/joined groups advertised plainly as “path # any welcome” they would receive no criticism to their build/playstyle.
It’s not about telling people how to play the game, it’s about telling people how they want to play the game if they want to play with a select group of people.
Then block them and move on. Fighting fire with fire just makes everyone look childish.
I solo up to tar boss because I can control the situation by myself better. For example, by stealthing and running of out of range immediately after the ooze boss splits, you can avoid the spawning of vile oozes which is not always easy to coordinate with a pug. Another is the crystal entities have very limited cleave on their attacks so you can circle strafe melee them without them actually dmging you and just run out of the lit areas when you need to heal up. In a group, their aggro tend to split and might lead them dmg you when their intended target are someone else.
@Nosoyelarty: It is actually easier to skip that part solo as you dont have to deal with back aggro from your team. And I often do partial solo of the path and start pugging at tar boss so I can at least say that I do actually use the method that I have given you.
Try to make sure you are out of combat before you make the run through the choke where the risen group is. Temporal Curtain Veil > Mass Invisibility. You should past the risen group stealthed and only break stealth somewhere near the oozes. Be careful of your pathing when approaching the drakes and the oozes. If you have to, run through the poison cloud but do not get hit by the oozes. Use Prestige here before you turn to delay the poison clouds from the drakes. Near the patch with many lesser oozes, blink over as far as you can. By then, temporal curtain should be recharged. Do the curtain to get another swiftness buff while crippling the oozes. From that point it is about leashing the drakes and lesser oozes. If you have to drop down the ledge by the crystal entities to deaggro. At any time during the run, have power cleanse on standby to cure cripple.
@Zelyhn: Sorry to hear about your current predicament. Although I don’t post in your ascension challenge project, I do actually read it and follow what’s going on that thread. No shame in taking a hiatus so that you can “recharge”. I took a 4month hiatus myself after getting burned out.
Personally, I am still find myself with a lot of room for improvement. And there are also mini challenges I created for myself or those that created between me and other individuals that really keep my interest going.
Getting real tired of running into warriors using 5 signets. 3 signets is about as far as I would say you can go (healing signet, signet of rage, xx signet unless every utility is possibly taken (2 banners) then I would say you can have 4 signets but for the love of god ALWAYS bring For Great Justice.
Also running into less and less warriors actually using banners.

@OP: Come on. Getting an energy sigil isn’t that costly… Run Arah p2 ONCE and you can already put in a buy order for the sigil. Plus you can treat it as minor training for lupi.
The passives aren’t really that weak, but banners should always be covered and FGJ should probably always be locked in (unless you want to take a 30 fire ele, i guess).
This. I usually pug as a mesmer and whenever I able to do so I will try to slot in my Signet of Inspiration to double might stacks or fury for my team. A 5 signet build basically tells me to forget about it.
It really baffles me when I see 5signet warriors (or other full signet build classes) in Arah explo or fotm48s. In pugs when pre-stack is almost non-existent, there is ALWAYS room to slot in a banner of discipline or a FGJ. Specific setups aside, full signet builds usually mean you do not need to expect any sort of party utility synergy from those players.

I have joined advertised Arah speedruns to find that majority of the party are first timers. The problem is universal and it isn’t skipping. It lies between the failure to read and failure to logic.
Lol many neat tricks there. On a sidenote if you are PuG’ing, some do not like taking portals. Even if you willing to do it, other might not be willing to use it.
I just did an Arah p2 which involves portaling to Abomination once and portaling to Brie twice. I had to portal twice to Brie as the last guy refuse to use my portal until s/he was close to rq’ing.
It is because they are new to the game probably. If you are fotm leveling, I would adivse you to use use fotm 20+, even if your char hasn’t reach that high yet. Assuming you have at least some AR.
I am trying to get a Vial of Condensed Mist Essence and I heard that they drop best at Fractal 2. So I am running around that level. Also, they started the instance so they have some idea of what to expect.
Actually just do your normal fotm ranges. you can farm glob and shards and downgrade them using MF. And Jade Maw level is still “glitched”, a few days ago I got a vial from Jade Colossi at fotm48.

So… to earn an achievement you don’t even have to play the content, amazing achievement indeed. What kind of game let things like this happen? GW2 is so casual-oriented, sometimes it’s just funny what people want: “Less content, I don’t have time to play that much!”, “I don’t wanna do the dungeon, but I want tokens and achieves!”
I am only saying how it is. As in the mentality ppl buying p4. Whether you like or not, DM is no longer something prestigious or an achievement that requires alot of skill. But if this creates a demand, I don’t think sellers have an issue with that… At least sellers are getting paid for carrying deadweights.
Oh, legendaries would have been prestige item if they had not been buyable.
I think what haviz is trying to say is he doesn’t treat the current legendaries as prestige items even if they are untradable. He believes that prestige in items should be gated behind a certain skill cap, which is different from the rarity factor you seek. Rarity factor as in accessible to only a minority of players purely from RNG manipulation. We all just have different definition of prestige.
I deemed it as acceptable based on the comparison with the past versions. If you experienced what it was like, you will probably appreciate what it is like now. And as I said, improvements can still be made and at least now it is, in comparison, playable.
For those who only want p4 completed for DM, it is a hassle for them. They are not interested in anything more. For them, a 1 time 20 gold fee probably is acceptable. I, too run p4 for fun but it is definitely one of the longest path in the game. It will not appeal to those only looking for rewards.
It was actually much worse before the “Reset to nearest checkpoint” was implemented on individual deaths. That time, the whole team had to suicide to reset.
I remembered once when 1 of our teammates fell and got stuck in some weird terrain during a low level run (I was leveling an alt). We had to team wipe to retrieve that teammate and 1 newbie was refusing to wipe despite our explanation (no insults). After about 5 mins, he finally said “I refuse to follow your instructions to exploit”, proceeded to leave the party and block me. -_-;
That fract could be made better ofc, there have always been some issues to the way encounters are reset on wipe. But there has been some improvement and at least now it is acceptable to me.
It is natural that the environment was more conducive to learning during game launch since everyone was more or less on a clean slate. As the game stabilize, so do ppl’s expectations.
That being said, it is not that difficult to learn paths. Personally I re-learned arah bout 3months ago due to getting bored of dungeons I frequent and wanting to take adv of the new reward scheme. I pugged more or less as a first timer since I havent done Arah in 6 mths and I also let my party know that fact. Any first timers only need to be first timers for the first few runs, you just need to be tolerable of the possible rejections or scrutiny before you learn the path.
@OP: Skipping takes practice (which I am sure some people will disagree). I remember at the start I actually ran part of TA by myself, either by starting alone or asking for a few mins of from the dungeon owner after the run is completed, so that I can practice skipping mobs and find the best route and method to do so.
If you are very new to dungeons, I will advise to do trash-killing runs the first times. Doing so will give you an idea of what attacks trash mobs has and get you familiarize with the dungeon layout, and also give you a fuller experience of dungeons. After you are familiarized and comfortable with said dungeon paths, whatever happens is up to you but be sure to party up with like-minded individuals.
Scholar rune prices are still manageable since they can be crafted. If they aren’t craftable, they will probably be more expensive than Divinity runes.
I tried some phantasm damage tests with and without scholar armor for a long time. I summoned some phantasms on the dummies in LA, changed one piece of berserker/scholar armor to to another set to remove the 6th rune set piece, checked damage: The low/high/average damage was 10% lower! Then i put it back on after about 10 minutes of watching numbers and put it back on. Damage went up by ~10% again. The same phantasms have been used for the entire duration and i tried summoning with and without scholar as well. It seems to work for rune bonuses, but the mantra +4 %X(n) bonus and the +3 %X(n)phantasm still don’t work.
I haven’t ran any tests on actual mobs/enemies/players yet, but i can say it definitely works on the dummies in LA.
I tested it last night with swordsman. There was no difference in damage (sPvP on heavy golem) when wearing 5 scholar runes vs 6 scholar runes at full health.
To me, that means it’s broken for phantasms (at least).
So I decided to test this on enemies. I choose Magecrusher. By drawing the aggro of Magecrusher and surrounding risen hand and subsequently hiding on the cliff, I was able to keep my swordman phantasm and my hp at full.
I did 4 runs of 50hits – 2 runs with 6th scholar effect and 2 runs without. Basically I just used a separate crafted glove with the same stats but empty upgrade slot. To get a more consistent result, I calculated the critical and non-critical hits separately. From my short test I found that there was no significant difference between the 2 equipment config.
@Sanderinoa: Yea I previously wasn’t having 30 in dueling. Anyways I retraited for Empowering Mantras and am pretty happy with the increased dps. Which also means Im not using Compunding Power.
Yeah for me when starting out, it’s about placing myself in the situation as long as possible so that I can pick up the feel and rhythm of battling him. Energy sigils will help stay in those situations longer and especially so for lupi’s 3 separate phases. Took me bout 3 weeks to solo lupi successfully and I shutter to think how long it will take without
However to get better, those energy sigils eventually gotta go.
