Even as someone who plays Teef more than Guard.. this is just funny.
You want your 3rd auto attack to have no counter play and then make meditations completely useless. Sure, Guard needs nerfs. But this is not the right way.

I was literally just walking by a fight, in the last match i played, and got 3 conditions on me while i was in stealth.
Its just this condition era we’re in, mixed with thief having very little condition removal, and low hp/toughness.
oh and not many healing opportunities.
oh and terrible trait lines that dont match weapon sets.

Why would you stand on a point at all as a thief… Your job is to spike enemies down and not holding a point… In order to do that you use your shortbow and shadowsteps.Most fire fields have more than 2 sec cd fyi and as a thief you can kite a guard because he has only 1 gap closer on a long cooldown and 1 leap (assuming gs + medi).
Withdraw is one of the best heals in the game. Traitlines synergize very well with weaponsets… Utils are very good except traps and venoms. I dont know about any stealth bugs. Every class has problems with teleports.
Please dont write such stuff on the forums if its not true. Thief was my main for over a year and i have well over 2000 hours on him. I think i know what im talking about.

traps and venoms. Total of 8/19 utilities. Not 1 or 2 utilities that are not so great, but a total of 8 of almost completely useless utilities.

What i meant about healing opportunities… I can’t just switch to water and heal or throw down turrets and heal to max health in just a few seconds.. We have to use timing and skill with our heals compared to other classes (which I like) I’m simply stating we are at an under vantage (Stealth and running away till you disengage from a fight doesn’t count either)
Yes you can kite a guardian with a shortbow or the cheesy P/D condition build sure, but if you’re trying to contribute to your team and cap some points, you’re going to have a bad time against a guardian.
As for condition cleansing..
Shadow Return: 50sec cd 3conditions
Signet of Agility: 30sec cd 1-5 conditions (depends on how many allies nearby)
Trait: Shadows Embrace: 1condition removed per 3 sec. (In stealth) +1
Trait: Pain Response: 30sec cd removes burning bleeding and poison when below 75% hp.
Sword #2 cures 1 condition. cost 5/12 initiative. +1
We have 3 active condition cleansing and 2 passive (may have forgotten one)
and most of us can agree pain response is pretty bad. Conditions just reapply in a matter of seconds also.
We have had bugs for the thief class since the beginning of time that haven’t been addressed. Instead they fix random ones that are…simply not used?

First i am curious, how do you die to rapid fire with stealth and 2 dodges and a reflecting elite skill?
All classes have at least 2 dodges and yet people still get hit with RF. Funny how that works. So unless you’re saving all your dodges for rapid fire, you’re not gonna dodge it all and the long bow auto attack is just as damaging if you don’t stop it and get close. Stealth only works if the ranger has no idea what your stealth skills look like, otherwise they just start channeling when they see the animation and RF will track you in stealth. Stealth doesn’t stop damage so even if they don’t manage to get the RF off, they can always use Barrage on themselves. Most burst thieves won’t risk the HP loss+cripple to go into that area. Daggerstorm has a 90 second cd compared to the 8 of RF, not to mention it recently has developed this nasty bug of doing absolutely nothing but the animation but going on full cd. Just saying. If you’re gonna make thief sound like some god tier class who is never hit with anything, you might wanna include all factors when making your snide replies.

I have and it’s incredibly easy once you know how thief works. Also.. when I say incredibly easy, i mean just that.

I meant stealth in general, not just against rangers. (I get why it looks like I’m pointing at rangers) People think stealth is this “Oh kitten!” button, but its not. Seriously all you have to do is drop an aoe or swing auto attack.
Its not much different than a warrior running off with his greatsword to get away. At least we are somewhat in the area. A marked area. Also if we’re not talking about shadow refuge…all other stealth skills last like 3 sec max for thief. So just look around.
We may dodge bullets, but not rapid fire.

Basically all thief builds rely on falshoods…
Stealth mitigates damage…it can…but armor does always…I can make you vulnerable by 1% as a thief…oh boy…
You are the high damage class. But I see warriors do equal damage to multiple targets….Rangers do single target damage from range and a single button press with no tell.
You have great mobility except other classes run and I can’t catch them….
You get blinds…woopie…every AOE still hits….armor still mitigates.
Here are the truths about thieves:
They get a low health pool.
They have no damage mitigation.
They have poor healing ability.
Their movement is no better than any other classes.
They can run away via stealth in 1 on 1’s but AOE’s stuns knockbacks fields etc stop that.
If you have lag and are a backstab thief just log off.
You have really crappy snare, dot removal ability….Sure you can heal or remove conditions if you want to do no damage at all….from the damage class….
Massive lack of CC skills. At least we got a stealthed bow skill…woopie we have 1 now! Basilisk venom.,.,..ya its a joke.
The class really needs a overhaul…
Some useful traps…
Maybe some perma stealth or hide in place skills…
No more hide in your face skills but for blinding powder…So..1 every once in a while.
Removal of stealth needed for backstabs etc.

Personally, I mostly use DS in WvW, like this:
1) Shadowstep into enemy zerg
2) Dagger Storm + Signet of Malice = healing + reflects = tagged everybody and I’m not dead!
3) Shadow Return, my zerg rolls over them.
4) PROFITSo really for me it’s a gtf IN there button.
This and spam poison are like the only thing thieves are good for in WvW zerging.

Any decent D/P build out there? I’m fancying it right now, but can’t seem to get a build to flow right with it.
Any build out there that isn’t full glass cannon and has decent sustain ( In thief terms -_- )

I think you’ll have more frustration than glory by rolling a thief for glass cannon.
I can tell you that thief traps are useless and probably will be forever. There was one guy who made use out of the trapper runes, but in turn took away all his mobility. I’ve seen people walk right through them with ease aswell. It’s just a pathetic utility skill.
Can’t tell you about Ranger traps. They seem to be more profitable to use.

Engineer and Ranger.
Every profession has faceroll builds, but the Engineer and Ranger in general I find have to work the most to succeed across their variety of specs when relying on class mechanics.
Elementalist has a lot of button mashing but it’s such a forgiving profession due to high boon up-time and a lot of healing access, and mobility for kiting/disengaging.
Mesmer and Thief are both forgiving of mistakes due to stealth, and whilst they’re mechanically intense in short bursts, it’s not very consistently straining as we can simply stealth and essentially have a break to recollect ourselves before continuing.
Necro is pretty straightforward, despite lacking mobility and CC resistance. The profession is still generally quite simple in terms of mechanics.
Guardian is simple.
And lastly, lol Warriors.

Maybe with one trade off with engineer. I’d say yeah in the past, but now a days it’s an overall pretty tanky/high damage/good cc class. Similar to Ele.

- Anyone who has played pvp(both) and has played a thief would know both these statements are untrue.
3. I do play a lot on my thief (999 hours across 764 days), but doesn’t mean I lack knowledge of other classes or haven’t played them.
4. I indeed have played many classes in sPvP, deleted them, and continued on. I’m that guy who just has one character. I don’t have 6 level 80’s or a legendary because…i spend all my time pvping. All..my time.
5. I probably know my thief better than you know all your 80’s combined.
6. After playing so much thieftime… i’d probably think thief to be an easy character (in turns of mechanically intensive) but I don’t. With lack of condition cleansing, low hp pool, and low damage (any class has high damage with zerker gear).. I’d say they are one of the most mechanically intensive professions. Especially in terms of timing heals, stealth, reveal, conditions, condition removal, when to stay or leave stealth, shadow stepping in the correct direction, shadow returning at the right time, and gap closing.
7. I played on one of the best WvW guilds back in Sanctum of Ralls prime. Learned how to work with other characters in battles, as well as, learn what kind of buffs come from certain characters, and what combos can be generated. It was constant learning during each new patch.. for all classes. Had to learn how other classes operated, so I could easily work with them.
8. I stopped playing when it got too zergy for me. Thieves are not viable zerg classes.
But obviously this is all just my opinion and I’m getting quite bored of typing.

You understand we need gap closers..They should be able to zone people out, of course, but all forms of thief – as with any class – should be able to be peeled away. S/D is nefarious in being extremely difficult to peel. People get frustrated over this because it means, like the warrior with their beserker stance, they have easy capability to tunnel vision. Fortunately thieves have a way more active playstyle than warriors. However S/D’s defensive structure shuts down an overwhelming amount of possible peeling mechanics. The bruiser, dodging spec is fun and should be in the game, but it has to be easier to peel it away.
Thieves are almost lack luster in everything they have. The more you’re able to peel away from them, takes away they’re whole class aspect of being “pesky”, as well as, nerfs the crap out of them. Reason being.. if a thief is not near you, what are you doing? – attacking.
So being able to peel away from a thief. Specifically a S/D thief (one of few weapon sets) will just make the thief an even more defeat able target.
However, if a thief is on you, it gives the thief a chance when you’re burning dodges.
Sure it makes thieves tunnel vision someone, but do thieves really have an alternative to not? (aoe abilities?)
i wouldn’t say throw traps away entirely, but thief has a lot of utilities and traits in dire need of an overhaul.

Thieves guild? You mean the highly predictable AI that dies in seconds and has a 180 second cooldown? The best thing they do is scare in a 1v1. Try not to mislead people into such lies.

There are issues with s/d because its uncanny ability to stick to a person like white on rice, but d/p was DEFINITELY not an issue in spvp.

Seriously this patched could of been a whole new light for thieves.
Traps = outdated
Traits = outdated
Venoms = outdated
The focus on venomshare from the dev. team is ridiculously… undermining the potential for venoms. Cool it goes off stats now, but wait… our venoms are mostly non damage conditions! (immobilize, chill, poison*…) so..yeah. bad move.
I consider myself a fairly decent player, but die from conditions non stop because I have like nothing to rid of them. Conditions from other classes are too easy to apply and thieves have hardly to no ways to get rid of them.

Remove traps for something different…agreed.
Maybe give us some aoe fields that “steal” boons?
Choking gas nerf could have been better. Instead of dropping damage on impact. Why not 1 sec after impact, as well as, apply torment at the end of its duration? (just an example)
Our whole class is outdated. Our conditions, our defenses, our traits, utilities, and removal of conditions is so lack luster.

Traps
I disagree on best survivability. Simply stealth and run away doesn’t count as survivability to me. (if that was what you were entailing) sure you survive, but it tends to lead to less good fights. If you’re talking evade…sure that’s nice, but far from the best. Mesmer, guardian, ele, and necro I would say have better survivability (necro somewhat even). Best mobility …yeah we do. Mesmers are close though. Easy to apply burst. I think warriors have that one.
but it goes back to, “its not one thing”. Its the functionality of our class. With traits, utilities, and weapon skills, they simply don’t match. The class in general needs a rework. Not an overhaul, but definitely some more care and thought.
I’m agreeing with Bruno 100%. I feel like its an obvious observation. Yeah our weapon sets are up and down all the time and definitely need improvement on a few+.
I believe the main fault in the thief profession is not that one skill they nerf in our weapon set, but the lack of fluency in our traits and most definitely our utilities.
our utility skills (venoms, traps) are completely outdated. Like said before, the misunderstanding from the team is daunting. They’ve focused so much attention on venom share this past year and yet… Still hardly see anyone using it. No one wants it. We want a complete change to that system (atleast most of us)

Dancing dagger is bad. Death blossom is bad. This nerf to LS is bad. Choking gas ..bad. P/P is very bad. Venom share is bad and mostly useless. Traps..lol.
The problem is us thieves are too good. We have been nerfed to the underworld, yet we still manage to win fights. That my friends is showing the mistaken Dev team that we need to be more equalized in their eyes, because they simply dont know like we do.
Solution: start losing. Then buffs will come.

I know that the WvW disconnect is already known to Anet, but it has been 4 days so far and I’m constantly disconnecting with a black screen or freezing for about 1 min then back to the black screen. Once I relog the game… I have to wait for a 20min queue.
I have edited game setting and everything…

Just been trying to play some WvW after a hard day at work, but instead I’ve been coming home to these blackscreens.
Please fix… not the only one.
I’m getting a blackscreen every 30min or so.
Sometimes longer, sometimes shorter.
I’m still able to see my guild wars 2 mouse icon though and when I shut the game off and back on, I’m dead…(because I was in WvW)
Happening a lot and I do not know if its my end or yours.
When playing my thief I cannot interrupt my auto attack when I try to use Cloak and dagger.
I mainly WvW and ever since this nerf to stealth ( Which highly affected thief damage, mobility, and survivability) …Cloak and Dagger no longer will interrupt my auto attack.
I have to wait till its over and then use it.
Is anyone else having these issues?
