Legendary weapon: best methods to obtain

Hi, this is going to be my first legendary weapon that I’m trying to get. I’ve looked around online and it seems the best way to get the precursor is to buy it off the trading post. I’m going to making Bolt so I need Zap and it looks like it’s worth 700g from the TP. This seems a mighty amount and if my maths serves me well…

I make currently about 5 gold a day. So divide 700/5 and you get 140. So it’ll take me 140 days to save up 700 gold. That’s roughly 4.6 months… I guess that’s cheap…

But the thing is there’s still more to the legendary, I think I need a lot of karma (not sure how much) and I need gold to buy all the mats for the gifts. Haven’t done the maths here yet but it’s probably going to add up to a lot.

So if you could share with me the best ways to farm gold and karma or how you got your legendary please do! Thanks!

I fixed it by changing the compatability mode. I am running my version of GW2 on Windows 10 64 Bit and have a NVIDIA graphics card. I’ll run you through the steps:

1. Find the shortcut to GW2 on your desktop
2. Right click and go to properties
3. Go to the compatability tab
4. Check the square for ‘Run this program …’ and select Windows 7
5. Comment back here on your findings.

Some suggestions for a nice game i can play good with my Mac?

Loads of decent games for Mac on steam. I’m currently addicted… (I’ve been playing for 3 hours straight!) to Starbound it is PROPER good. Soo much better than Terraria or Minecraft… There’s always Civ V or IV and Lord of the Rings online.

I guess it was a pretty self-explanatory question. It would just be a shame if they didn’t though even though they’ve clearly got experience in making MMO’s it’s just that in many parts in GW2 I feel the storytelling aspect is incredibly weak with predictable dialogue and lackluster storylines.

WP in my opinion brings so many valid arguments with GW2 into the spotlight and really shows how to improve the game yet barely any (maybe not any) of his decent suggestions ever make it into the game. Why would Anet neglect watching someone like him, he’s clearly got his head screwed on and I feel like he voices a lot of concerns the majority of the playerbase has.

As much as I love the lore and the setting of the game the game itself really isn’t that great. I love the event system but the combat is just a bore to me. It was good to begin with but it’s just lacking something. Guild Wars 1 was a perfect balance of difficulty and fun, granted the low level areas were barely populated but I think that game was much more fun to play than this pile of kitten. To be honest, GW1 is the only MMO I’ve ever properly enjoyed and I still couldn’t play that that much without getting bored.

I do. You know with no cliches, bad humour and general childish antics. Perhaps a permanent explorable area which doesn’t feel like an empty and pointless place to explore like Sunset Cove did. Or perhaps change it up a bit so the living story instances are event quests in the world with hundreds of people… I just feel since launch that GW2 has become very stale and unimaginative in the way that updates are coming to us apart from the Super Adventure Box but that is a whole game in itself let’s be honest.

And we still have not that much permanent PvE content! What is up with that? Why isn’t A-net expanding explorable areas further afield on the map? I think we’d all like a PERMANENT explorable area added to the game, that’s what everyone loved this game for… was for exploring… right? Not dungeons? That’s… that’s what I thought at least. Okay granted it would mess up 100% completion but… maybe these PvE areas count towards a different achievement… 110% completion LOL or at least they could try and populate mid level zones where it seems to be dead the majority of the time. The tower was yes, in a mid level zone but everyone went to the tower, they didn’t come for Kessex Hills.

So basically, for the people who are annoyed about all this the extra books and stuff are basically the equivalent of the lore stories in Diablo 3, you still got the majority of the story but there are just extra tid-bits and side story which if you don’t spend your time doing then you won’t experience it but it won’t affect the overall plot. I mean seriously, if you want to go into the lore side of GW2 THAT deeply, you can’t expect Arena net to just give it to you on a silver platter, these guys need some money… Or more money? Or… I dunno maybe they don’t but you get the point.

Super adventure box is really my only likeable living world update, the rest have been awful. Although Colin definitely said sometime recently that they’re going to really up the quality of the living world updates now that they have multiple teams or something like that. If there was just one team before, bless them, there were blatantly like 5 of them too because this game is pretty much free to play can’t afford that many game devs…

There are so many pitfalls! My main problems with the game is… Zhaitan’s minions are too powerful. They’re too darn strong. As the recent stat thing came out, his minions have killed the most of us players. Please tune them down so people actually start using those zones? :[

The temporary content is well… not great. I wasn’t around for frost and flame but I was here for all of the LA party events. They’re the same thing recycled in my opinion. I’d really love to see new permanent zones opening up on the map, get us exploring more of the world and learning more in-depth stuff about each race. Especially the elusive Sylvari which… are new to this game and if you didn’t play a Sylvari are missing a big chunk of lore! I don’t mind too much about big boss fights as they’re always quite slow, predictable and laggy. More chaotic champion fights are better! Adding new events is all well and good but doing the same thing over and over isn’t what was said in the GW2 trailer. Why not have in one zone, three or four different event cycles, each of them contributing to an over arching event cycle. That would create a load more different outcomes than either just fail or succeed. I don’t know, it’s not that there isn’t much content already it’s just I’d like more of the same…GW2 trailer said it’s all about exploring the world, being part of the dynamic events… for the past year we’ve just seen a bunch of temporary events and instanced storylines. Time to make storylines and dynamic events blend? There’s just so much potential!

I agree, this living world content is absolute garbage. Please stop kidding yourselves, Arena net has had a year to prove themselves but this is just… endless temporary events and stupid parties in Lion’s Arch. I want new quests, personal stories and stuff which continues and doesn’t just last 3 hours then you never hear anything about it ever again.

Maybe it’s time to add some new MAP areas? Okay we got sunset cove or whatever but that place was lame. Maybe some more level 40 – 50 zones? Where more players will go?? And it will be more fun because the enemies won’t just two hit you. Perhaps some new heart quests? Like once you complete the current ones it goes onto another one set by the same NPC? Instead of every kittening time where the NPC says “THANKS A LOT. BYE NOW. HERE’S SOME USELESS COINS.”

I'm very confused about end game.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: normyp.8671

normyp.8671

I think the thing about end game is that GW2 really just doesn’t have any. That’s because we all paid once for the game so clearly A-net are not too bothered about making any expansions or anything good and not recycled. I’m sorry but GW2 is a normal game with MMO features, if you want a good end-game go to a real MMO like WoW or LOTRO. Haters don’t get me wrong, GW2 is a good game it just has no good end-game. But usually end-game comes hand in hand with repetitive tasks and subscription fee’s for new dungeons and content.

I think it’s sad that A-net clearly don’t want us to stick around because I remember when this game first came out and the starting areas were all in overflow, people were everywhere, people did hard events. Now you get 1 – 2 people if you’re lucky for a hard event, and that’s in low level areas. No-one even bothers in high level areas. And because no-one levels past a meagre level 80 it just feels very boring and it doesn’t feel satisfying in the slightest. Okay, crafting feels satisfying and making a legendary probably feels good but it takes too much time. I’d rather start a new character on a game where I haven’t seen all the content 3 times over with a decent story too.

Also don’t you think it’s time they got rid of the zombies in Orr? The majority of players have killed Zhaitan, his minions should only be there if you haven’t finished the last dungeon. Apart from that Orr should be freed up or at least, freed up a bit more!

I’m not disagreeing with their vision. It’s a solid idea but the way it’s working right now just really isn’t working with the vision. Can you honestly tell me that after doing a living story you feel more part of the world, that the world has ACTUALLY changed? I doubt it. Just imagine if when a living story instance was activated everyone in that server on the map is put in a mirror server so people who haven’t done it yet won’t just walk in half way through. Not everyone has to participate it can just be on in the background, you could in fact just waypoint out at any time apart from being in a fight and be in a normal server again. Imagine something like that… that would be awesome.

I’m not in anyway trying to be negative, to hate on GW just for the sake of it. I just want a better game. I want it to be what it said it would be in the trailers, a living, breathing world. Right now it feels like the living story is seperate to the game world, there are the NPCs and the Players. Apart from the events we aren’t ever put in the same boat. We are seperated by private instances.

Living Story bit seems to be really nice though, at least so far.

I tried to cheat myself by saying that too. It was definitely a better way of telling the story, especially wiht the cut scene at the dead end bar but it’s still just a cruddy story about something really insignificant. I want something which is putting Tyria in danger! Where all the races have to club together like in EoTN. Okay the personal story tried to do this but I don’t know, because it was horribly linear and stuck in instances it didn’t have the same effect it did in Gw1. I think what’s missing which we would all LOVE is mixing personal story/living story instances with the event system/have it with other players around/have it actually happen before everyone. THAT would make the game feel like a living world.

Yep. Seems like they only have 5 people working on the game.

Edit: I’ll just add more stuff as people point out stuff I have forgotten.

Halloween.
Wintersday.
Super Adventure Box.
Dragon Bash.
Southsun Cove. Same stuff different skin.

Living Story. Garbage.

2 PvP maps. I don’t play guild wars for pvp.

New events. Good.

New voice acting. Who cares, GW1 had barely any voice acting in it and I still loved it.
New soundtrack. Ok but that doesn’t improve a game, it makes it easier to be immersed but it doesn’t improve upon a game.

Updating reward systems. Good, but I don’t play MMO’s for intense looting sessions. GW1 wasn’t like that and GW2 said they weren’t a MMO…

Costume brawl. Okay, sold, you got me Anet. I’ll stay because of costume brawl. (No what do you think?)

Crab Toss.

How big is the Arena net team? Because if these small festival events are all they can produce with about 6-7 months I’m worried for the future of the game. Seriously, is Dragon Bash the combined effort of the entire team? Or 4-5 members? I’d hope it was the latter, I can’t imagine it was that hard to create the event. Seeing as a lot is copy and paste, even the flying dragon is a copy of the shatterer flying through the skies in the charr areas… I’d like a statement from arena net promising that we will get better content than this boring, lame stuff. Sorry to sound like an kitten but it’s not great.

How to Fix the Living Story in Guild Wars 2!

in Suggestions

Posted by: normyp.8671

normyp.8671

I never found any part of any GW2 story compelling apart from the events. Which is weird. The instances felt generic, rushed and boring. The events however usually placed you with one – three NPCs where you have to travel with them, defend them, help them etc. whilst they usually cracked a few jokes/gave you some backstory. I just feel some of the events which barely have much thought seem more compelling than the personal story. I hate this living story idea, especially because it’s temporary, also it all feels exactly the same as halloween and wintersday. It just all feels very samey and it’s getting old quick.

I still love dungeon runs though and the story modes for the dungeons are possibly the best story content in the game in my opinion. Because you get to follow these characters through a distinct plot, the personal story felt all over the place with no real direction. You just knew you were fighting against Zhaitan, pretty hard to imagine when you never see the dragon until the final dungeon.

And you can’t call a dragon minion a dragon.. look at it… it’s a giant worm with wings, not a dragon.

Plans on CHAMPION bosses?

Posted by: normyp.8671

normyp.8671

Also, what may have been ignored from my post as I didn’t plan it very well is that champion bosses should have better drops. They are challenging and one of my favourite types of bosses, purely because not many people go for them so it’s a lot more intimate and you feel important to the fight. Even if Anet made champion bosses loot better or even introduce bonus chests for champion bosses, surely there won’t be huge zergs for them either just because there are so many… It will just encourage players who come across champions to actually spend their time fighting them. I’m pretty sure a lot of people try and fight them but realise they’re too hard for soloing and leave, then a lot of others know it’s bad loot and don’t even try so the only way champions get defeated especially in level 40 – 70 zones is either through grouping or random chance of 4 – 6 players coming together to defeat it at the right time which is totally unnecessary. It shouldn’t have to be a small chance to find 4-6 players really should it?

Plans on CHAMPION bosses?

I was just wondering if Anet have any plans to increase the difficulty of world bosses, so they’re actually failable? Sorry, I haven’t done all the world bosses and I am aware that bosses like Balthazar are always being failed it just seems like the Frozen Maw, the Fire Ele, Shatterer, Shadow Behe and Claw of Jormag are never being failed and are just part of a daily “let’s go do world bosses for the bonus chests!” It’s just that otherwise you’re kinda forced to go to Fractals and Dungeons for hard bosses, it shouldn’t be like that…Remember I did say I’m aware there are hard bosses, but I find it silly that these huge world bosses are just so much easier than the ones which are basically impossible and you get like one bronze and a bunch of blues for completing. Example, all the champion bosses which are very fun to fight because you normally playing with like 6 or 7 other people and it’s actually quite challenging. That’s what PVE bosses SHOULD be like but they’re not because noone bothers to do them because they drop terribly.

A game that costs you 40 could, in theory, cost you 210.

Yeah but I really don’t think anyone would actually buy a legendary through gems then currency exchange. That defeats the purpose of them. They’re meant to be a time sink so you get that massive feeling of accomplishment when you’ve done it. Otherwise it’s just like cheating. And games are really not enjoyed in the right way when cheating is involved.

How much Eternity costs in £ HYPOTHETICAL

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: normyp.8671

normyp.8671

THIS IS ENTIRELY HYPOTHETICAL. I’m not planning to do this I am just intrigued!

So my 50 gems in my account currently sell for 1 gold 30 silver in-game.

Eternity is currently selling on the TP for 1700 G. So I worked out that if I bought 50,000 Gems it would give me 1300 Gold in-game. 200 Gems is roughly equal to £2. So Eternity is worth £250? Because you divide 50k by 200? Is that right? Holy moly. I love how a game which cost you £40 can, in theory, make you £210. That is just the coolest tid bit. Of course that’s if I’m right and my maths is not completely terrible.

EDIT: It’s not 1300 gold, it’s 1000 Gold + whatever 30 silver * 1000 is in gold.

But then again it’s not so cool because getting that legendary probably cost you a lot more time than just going to get a minimum wage job and putting in the same amount of hours. In fact, if you put the same amount of time in a minimum wage job you’d have a tonne more. But that’s a whole another equation depending on the average time it took to make a legendary weapon. …But then again, you’re having fun making that legendary? RIGHT?

…And unless you live in a box with only your pc and internet I’m sure your living costs for making that legendary far out weigh whatever profit you could hypothetically make from it.

I agree. Even the storytelling of the personal story isn’t that compelling so I think first place to improve, for me… is storytelling. It was brilliant in GW1. I started on Nightfall but it had such a gripping storyline, I loved it and there were so many twists. Characters like Trahearne made me want to beat my skull in with a hammer he was so boring, so generic and he was there for like 75% of the story just saying “commander please help” “commander do this” “commander why are there zombies everywhere” “Commander i have a weird accent and i won’t say anything surprising for the whole time i’m here”. Sorry for a bit of a rant but it’s true and lame. I’ll stick to just doing events they’re more fun than story missions…

Things I’ve found useful in dungeons:
1. Play with warriors, they soak up damage and tank the big enemies.
2. Kite if you’re a squishy class like thief, ele or necro.
3. Sort out your utility skills/skills so you get a nice amount of escape mechanisms and AOE.
4. AOE is god. (The warrior’s ultimate banner, elementalists, poison clouds stuff like that).
5. Learning to control crowds is key, although you’ll normally be only up against like 2 or 3 guys, they will hit hard and managing them by using AOE instead of single target makes the fights 100 X easier.
6. Res anyone that is down. (Top one really even though it is 6).
