The removal of cele is actually one of the few things they’ve gotten right with the upcoming changes. Everything else, personally, I’m on the fence about. Fortunately, I don’t play ele/mesmer/rev, so I don’t think I’ll be fearing our necro overlords as much as everyone else, but I still feel like they haven’t really hit the nail on the head with this one (which is what they’ll have to do tbh). Them not making perfect changes won’t kill the game, but it’ll likely drive as many people away as they’re bringing back in. That being said, I’ll probably be playing more after the 26th.

its ok necro will be food for thieves, it already is food if the thief plays right now with the damage buffs they will not even need to think just headshot 1111 steal stun daze 111111 fear 111111111111111111111 repeat…

i think i just fought a revenant with all that and he still died with plenty to spare i was on necro.. in team fights they are the first thing i target and in the end they are usually the first to go down before i get swarmed anyway =p

trying to play this class and its all fine until you come out against a team of condi users, not just condi necro. i just cant handle it. mallyx doesn’t really do much as far as i can see plus the cost is too high. so what do you do?

i know when i play condi reaper its a snore fest against most revenants.. could just be my mmr bracket terrible me vs terrible them, i just cant stand it any more its so boring and this class looks like fun but.. the conditions are to much from anything !

the only way to kill someone as a reaper is with condis this meta.. when i go power all i see is nothing because they just kite for days or

i have an idea!! make it so when gravedigger is cast you are in a constant state of evade for the duration, also while evading it will glue you to your opponent so no matter what they do they cant get away from you, this is balanced because dodges are a thing and revenant can do it so why not?

axe is nice . but against anyone with dodges and teleports it is hopeless, if someone has a teleport they just port behind you and it cancels it, If you don’t let go of the mouse when close to someone they can just sidestep and it will cancel axe 2.

people with vigour/ daredevil will starve you of life force, at least with traited staff they can’t because you get the lf even if the skills don’t hit them.

the slow on the down skill really needs to go! if you kill a rev in a 2v1 its a death scentence because they will just stop you doing anything while its buddy pummels you to death or revives it, not to mention it stalls for a very long time, enough time for someone to +1 if it started out as a 1v1

i have hardly played warrior and can beat a power reaper with one… use shield to get close then head but shield bash immob the necro and 100b either the necro dies or its shroud vanishes then quickness sets in and smack away with axe auto after popping invulnerability skills and watch it squirm.

this is with the new elite rampage. the only reason i don’t play warrior is it needs better sustain in team fights against conditions but then again.. on an organised team you have cleanses from druid and guards so..

i wouldn’t mind if warrior started with 50% adrenaline .. it doesn’t really make a difference anyway.

The only thing i would want is they do not generate it back to 50% if they use it during a fight and the person gets stomped or they missed it you only get to keep what you generated up to the 50% margin so you hit someone got say 10%? thats what you are stuck with until the next fight.

shroud has no 1 click full lf buttons it does not generate lf on just any weapon attack either, all the skills that get necro lf have a drawback to them.

dagger- kite = no lf

axe- dodge skill 2 with a single dodge = no fl

staff- the auto attack… lol and the marks require a trait preventing shroud cd reduction and speed or large vulnerability spam.

scepter- basically doesn’t have lf generation really, it has the No 3 skill requiring a plethora of condis to be somewhat useful but its cd and difficulty may as well not be there.

spectrals.. don’t hit the necro when it turns green i do this and starve the enemy necro of lf.

the only decent thing we got was bb and ysim – blighters boon only works with power reaper on a specific build that has no -little condi clear i kill them all the time.

edit… for people complaining about condi reaper can i just repeat what is said while people defended burning “bring condi clears its fine”… lol

when i am on a full pug team vs a team with some premade groups we win.. when i have part premade on my team we lose, it seems when people join a 2-3 man group they forget the other members on the team and talk in group chat while the enemy consisting of a full pug group seems more willing to tag the map and talk to each other -.-

i just wish solo q was back or at least try join part groups with other part groups like 3+ a 2 group etc…

how do you deal with them? i just get melted by anything with burning. confusion and there is nothing i can do about it. berserker stance can only do so much! i get 10 seconds to kill what ever i am fighting and after that boom melt….

the whole “noone falls for decoys anyway” stuff is nonsense.. ya you cant stand there and pretend ur a clone to trick them but the idea behind it isnt to stand there.. you’re suppose to be aggressive and constantly throwing ur clones at them while you dodge around/block/invis ect .. mesmers work really well when they overload their opponent.. between decoys exploding and me going invis/using weapon skills it can get pretty confusing.. (i only say this because i fought a guy who i was constantly losing track of which was the real mesmer and who was the decoy)

its only “confusing” because mesmers abuse to the full extent the terrible targeting system in this game

if you go invis anet has programmed the game to prioritize pets/clones before you because mesmers would qq hard if not. leaving your opponent to try click a moving, teleporting, stealting opponent with a mouse that isn’t visible while rotating the camera and is a horrific colour that blends into the cluster kitten of aoe and particles on the screen.

i just cant do it, they out sustain me no matter what i do then trololololololol with unrelenting assault the most lazy pathetic salt causing op skill i have ever seen this needs to change but i know it never will… the devs need a carrot to bait people to buy hot i guess

i do not hit them during glint heal if i can help it but even then they heal to full out of nowhere have 2 goes of crystal hibernation teleports and boons up the behind… with cc..

i had a go of condi and find it dies way too easy with horrific lf generation as usual.

im using axe/wh- gs if i don’t take axe people just stay out of range since everyone seems to have some viable ranged option these days and gs because why not?

would dagger/wh- staff really make that big of a difference?

depends what you play really.. if i die to a warrior i dont care.. if i die to a dragon hunter that teleports from nowhere and drops its stuff for instant nuke then yeah…

when you see an abundance of people playing the same thing being carried hard by it, while you try to stick to your main and die with nothing you can do then the salt will start to pour

they made targeting npc’s priority because mesmers would cry hard if it wasnt…… even if you dont auto target tab goes to pets, if you physically shove a target above your opponents head and they stealth and use previous target it will go to pets/clones because they would cry hard that they cant hide behind npc spam.

you just need to learn to click better with a mouse that vanishes in the cluster kitten of particles and is not visible when you use it to move and if you move the mouse even a little while trying to click a moving target it drags the screen instead.

the way the skill is now it cant hit anything.. if your opponent is walking in a big circle around you (AKA EVERYONE YOU FIGHT THAT ISN’T ASLEEP) then it will not and can never connect, you cast the animation it passes through them then on the way back they have walked so far it does not connect.

it needs either criple. immob on the first cast or it needs to daze/stun (forget what one prevents movement) the target to stop them moving. either this or change the skill so if it connects with a target on the way out it tethers them and pulls them in after the animation like guardians have on their gs.

necro has no chance…. and all these guards keep saying “just dont walk into them” i will agree when they delete judges intervention and the instant cast ability of the traps because then people would actually need to walk into them instead of you porting on top of them and dropping them even a moron cant walk into a trap because why would a guard ever need to pre drop one?

I recognized you. The necro that blindly charged at me the other day. I gave you so many hints the traps were around me, i was even dancing and beckoned you over. And you just went “charrrrgeee”. I thought the dumbest thing i ever saw was a bird got crushed on highway.

i never charge guards… i can easily say the same thing too “i recognize you the guard that did the dance emote and ran off a cliff” not hard

also if we break down what you said its… if you are a melee class just walk away and don’t bother fighting with dragon hunters. let the ranged classes only fight them or another dragon hunter.. who by chance is also ranged just ignore the fact you have instant teleports..
makes me remember the days of turret engie “just don’t fight them out rotate them”

you guys actually get off a full aa chain in pvp? in that time other classes have already used 3-5 skills on me and they usually come with a bunch of immob and stuns. i dont even try to use the auto attack now, there is no point! you can be dead of need to switch to shroud in that time.

grasping darkness is bugged and only works against people you are looking at if the move beside/behind you it will not cast or will go on cd, it needs to track your target and turn your character if you let go of the mouse, the way it is now it only hits unaware opponents of they are already lockedin place by someone else

gravedigger needs longer range and death spiral is ok i guess

Let me guess you are playing with GS which is not PVP weapon go back to Staff/Axe/WH or Staff/Dagger/WH you will enjoy it lot more.

why not make it a pvp weapon tho? other classes can make use of their gs so why not us… all it needs is a more reliable and longer range pull and speed it up a little thats it!@@! the stuff it offers is great but they just made it way too slow to use them and not punishing enough if you actually catch someone with it for the current speed.

Mate normally I have nothing against GS being PVP weapon but GS is such a good PVE AOE weapon at the moment, I think Reaper has the best AOE cleave in the game which will probably guarantee a place it in the raids.

If they don’t break this because I think whole concept of reaper build being an AOE monster and not single target DPS I have nothing against it.

but its not an aoe monster against players….. the range is way to short for anything. an aoe monster is ele. everyone just takes 3 steps back when they see me bust out the gs and thats the end of it.. stun away lock me down slow the shi.. out of me with mesmers done, i dont even get hit by other reapers using one unless i really want to get my own hit in.

the problem is they beefed up the reaper but at the same time double beefed up the other clases leaving reaper/necro where it was pre patch.

yes it was one of the better elites, only because the base class is so bad thats why tempest looks so underwhelming, this changes nothing tho…. they added more blinds -% reductions of chill cripple etc and way more cc not to mention the brain fart that is the slow condition….

the only thing reaper had going for it was blighters boon and now that is gone, its back to being focused first, starved of lifeforce and all our stuff being interrupted/evaded

Seriously you nerf a trait because other classes give too much boons? Maybe think of reducing the output of boons for the other classes? STOP THIS BOONS MADNESS ( yeah… Revenant/ele i’m looking at you).
Have you actually tried it in a team fight(PVP)? It’s a really strong trait but not op at all, ppl can just focus you and even if u have three eles/rev/guard buffing you go down anyway, while classes like engi, ele and war can cycle through invulnerability that actually make them immortal.
It was the only grandmaster trait worth of taking to actually have some sustain from allies and because reaper onslaught it’s not that great imo.
Now necros are forced to use spite basically in every build except MM(like we didn’t do it before hot…) because without it blighter boon is useless and the RS degen of life force is too much (imo).

Explain why can’t be done a cap in the number of procs per second of this trait (even in technical terms)? Maybe a full comprehension of the problem can lead to new a ideas…

To provide some context on this change:

We felt that Blighter’s Boon was providing too much survivability, especially with the amount of boon output that Heralds and Tempests can provide. (This is especially true in WvW and large PvE Zergs). I did like the interaction this trait had with your allies, but boon application from allies is too broad of a category for us to reasonably balance in all modes of the game.

We considered a lot of other possibilities for this skill including adding an ICD, limiting the procs to specific boons, limiting the number of procs from allies, but the majority of these types of fixes ended up taking agency and control away from the reaper which we felt wasn’t optimal.

Ultimately we felt this change helped to make the trait more specific to some builds rather than the best trait in all situations.

EDIT: It seems like there is some confusion about the reasons behind the change. Even though I use PvE and WvW as an example, we think it’s providing too much in all areas of the game, PvP included.

then give us way more boon generation in other trait lines or give us a trait in rs/tone down self degeneration of shroud so we can make better builds.

they usually always have stability- are immune-are blocking-blind then you also have terrain issues and the skill just not activating even if you spam it and let go of the mouse when someone is behind you/to the side. grasping darkness is pointless at the moment.

if it was instant cast and forced you to turn around then it could be useful but right now everyone dodges it

well it was fun during the beta but now…. cant hit anything at all with the gs the speed is just to slow, grasping darkness may as well be deleted. the other specs are too fast have way too much spike damage or just block for days and days and days and days and days and days and days oh… or they just range you to death. (imo the auto needs lf generation on each hit)

the number of reapers i have seen in matches are declining by the day while guards, revs, chrono, scrapper are multiplying like crazy.

all a thief needs to do to beat me is pew pew with bow stun when they want to because of my cast times i cant reach them or stay on them thanks to on demand blinds/stuns chill does nothing to them at all(oh but teef ezy) i have still yet to see someone on a necro steamroll one in a 1v1 even while spectating (yes i know hotjoin but the the thief should be bad to right?) but they kill with ease.

im still the focus in a team fight and i still go down first. i have tried tanky builds, condi build (did ok on condi but nothing spectacular) zerker builds. i dont change the fight at all. a trap guard has a better chance at ending a teamfight thanks to super mega uber burst/cc then reaper.

the lack of build diversity thanks to the extreme degeneration of shroud forcing me to take soul reaping ONLY FOR VITAL PERSISTENCE just hinders it to much.

what am i doing wrong, you all seem so happy with reaper yet i hardly see them in equal quantities compared to the other classes even thief is more common for gods sake.

Possible Solution - Perhaps segregate PvP?

reaper only seems good because the core was so bad/ a free kill. if anything it just made it on par with base specs of other classes, unless they range it then its still a free kill because it cant do anything about ranged pressure at all.

IT IS NOT FREE ANYONE WHO CAN USE THE ELITE SPEC PAID FOR THE EXPANSION WITH REAL WORLD MONEY MOST LIKELY JUST TO PLAY THE SPEC!!!!!!!!!!

so yeah give me back my money then i will be happy to grind pve for it otherwise no its not fair or right to do this at all.

on another note i don’t see my traited stances activating at all. only the ones on my utility bar

yeah… they all seem to just stay at range and shoot me with the bow till i get close then blind burst shadowstep away and continue to hit me with the bow if i reach them again then they shadow return for more range and continue with the bow. predictable but what can i do?

yes i am still noob and i do have trouble with thieves on all professions.

on necro they just blind and stun me to death while running in and out of my body to force weapon cooldowns and spamming 1 nothing i can do about it and if i ask i just get kitten noob dey eazy response or “just go into deathshroud and cast 4 and 5” no thief is going to stand around and let that finish without interrupting it. this said i still can kill them or at least stall till help arrives if i have enough lifeforce. (me vs thief on necro)

on warrior it is worse they either range me to death with bow for the lulz or just go all in using the same tactic as usual pop as many blinds as you can if he attacks me in my little blind circle interrupt him or stealth and move away then just pop it back on him. and 111 for days.

i am not standing still waiting for the backstab.. i keep moving, they seem to move faster tho, if i try just attack them then they out damage me easily avoiding any high damage attacks.
