a few of these traits have to be jokes that your seriously suggesting them. plasma penetration would be useless because you can get vulnerability from pretty much everywhere nowadays. blind does not stack so idk how you think that trait is going to work. if you have 20 stacks of burning it doesn’t matter what kind of skills are automatically triggering cause your going down and that’s not even considering the fact that the chrona burst would have a chance of over heating you

as a heads up I like the overall idea for holosmith and what the new mechanic sounds like it will be, I just felt like making this post to say some ideas to make the different skills/traits more viable in more game modes. and for any people view this post in the future this is before any of the pof beta weekends, so no hands on experience here

in gerenal: I feel this class needs more focus on what kind of damage it wants to deal, as it currently looks really random as far as what skill does what kind of damage.

the sword: this is mostly continuing off the last post, I feel they should remove the bleeds from the 2 skill and just make it a blunt damage skill

the heal skill: now imo this skill has the biggest chance of competing with HT for good healing skill if they change one thing, remove the self burning on the tool belt. or limit its condi removal to damaging condis as cleansing vulnerability only for it to be replaced with burning would hinder the engi more than help.

the utilities: there are only 2 things I feel they could really change here. first is the tool belt skill for spectrum shield should be reworked a bit so that instead of giving a light aura above the thresh hold it dazes instead. the other one is with hard light arena, theres two changes I’d suggest for this is and its 1. make it give boons to allies as well or 2. make it work like guardian hammer 4

now I don’t see much wrong with the elite some moving on to traits: now while technically this isn’t just the one trait but I feel like more skills need to get more thresh hold abilities when you use the increased heat capacity, as from what I can tell the only skills that benefit from it is the sword skills and the heal skills tool belt (unless I missed a few ones)

I don’t understand the issue. It’s a skin that some people covet. Why does every skin in the game need to be affordable for everyone? I like that I have to carefully consider my budget in deciding which skins I prefer; it makes my choices more important.

How do you budget for 6K? Thats like saving up to buy 3 legendary weapons at once.
Even if I play 24/7 and focus all my gold on this I’d have to pass the baton to my grandchildren

The same way other players budget for high priced items. It sells for 6K so do a 30G/hr farm once a day for an hour for 200 days.

and thats just if your a casual player, I know a few friends that could pump that out in a few weeks if they wanted it

EOTM Should Award Pips.

This seems like a No-Brainer especially as there is a weekly cap to the amount of pips once can receive.

Allowing EOTM to grant pips pretty much cures all the gripes and complaints currently on the table with regard to the current system.

I don’t personally EOTM but it really seems built for those that only care about getting their shinies.

why would they add wvw rewards to a pve map?

I have 1,175 tickets after very casual play. I actually played much much more when EotM was active.

I’m guessing you didn’t spend your original ones we got for the old tourneys then because with the current 175 a week cap you could only have mad 875 with getting all the way to diamond so when saying the number please don’t forget you had extra ones that newer players didn’t have access to

The majority of the game can be done solo. Exceptions being dungeons, fractals, raids, and group events. With all but raids, you can be in a group with people but don’t have to interact with them.

um the only one that applies to is raids, and from some of the videos I’ve seen some people have even started to be able to 2-3man that stuff. plenty of people make a fair bit of money buy soloing arah paths by letting others ride off there work. fractals has been soloable sense pre hot, sa,e thing can be said with ~90% of group events (the exceptions being world bosses like teq, triple wurm, gerent, etc.) and even then I don’t consider most of those socializing as all you really do is find a map in lfg then you can ingore all the people in it

Guardian blocks can be traited to aply fire damage, to stack more fire when blocking guards can use Guardian runes as well.

This. And to trait for applying the conditions, the guardian sacrifices a lot in terms of being able to effectively fight a group. So, no, it’s not an exploit, it’s not op, it’s not hacking. It is, in the current wvw, a legitimate tactic with upsides and down.

Oh I get what’s going on here. You use one of these builds and don’t want it nerfed. No matter it still doesn’t change the fact im telling everyone to abuse it and im making a build just for this too.

aight at least I know who can be focused easily because they are trying to use a build meant for taking out siege, and most competent people can fight without the help of said siege

The idea of AFK/botting runs counter to what I think playing a game is about, but I don’t really see how it negatively affects how I enjoy the game.

The only thing I can think of is that they might skew the economy. Is that why others are so bothered about it?

the only time I would ever be frustrated with afk farmers on any map was if they where on maps like tangled depths and dragons stand that have big map wide metas and seeing as anet doesn't seem to want to add any more of those that issue won't pop up

Ok so I love playing WvW and have from the beginning.

So this is what has happened twice now where a commander (and this in Not new commanders) comes to a map and started asking people to join the squad and then after a while when they have a decent sized squad they started kicking Rangers and Thiefs from the squad. I PM them to ask what’s going on and the one response I go was you are a Ranger and the other one did not bother to respond.

That is messed up!

I can understand thiefs a bit, they are mostly roaming classes and shouldn’t be with tags but I have no idea for rangers those can be great healers if they are speck to druid and if its because you where trait-ed then shame on him for at least not asking if you could

For the 1st time in your life anet pls do not cave to casuals or players that don’t even care about wvw to lower the Reqs for armor etc.

even as a experinced player I say they are to high, I’m ~rank 1-2k and even after playing all day on patch day I only got to silver chest. the current system why its great for people that have played for ages doesn’t support new players joining the game type and in the future will only speed up the population imbalanc once vet players get tried of it and leave.

Core engi doesn’t need a redesign. Other classes just need to be brought down.

That the only thing keeping engineer viable in PvP and WvW is having to take all three defensive trees shows how weak the other trees are. In PvE condi ranger even outdamages us despite a simpler rotation and having far superior survivability.

We don’t need even more power creep. We just need elite specs further scaled back.

Or maybe it does, bieng so dpendant to kits seems quite unhealthy for the class, name me a build that has been in the meta with 0 use of kits.

Name me a build that has been in meta of other class with 0 use of weapon swap.

I for one am extremely scared of what our devs will do if they start to focus on WvW. Most of you are probably like me and don’t WvW for the rewards, have no real issues with the current UI and didn’t even know that WvW had a LFG before today. While I’m not against anet trying to fix things up a bit and give us better rewards or whatever; I’m REALLY uneasy about the idea of their balance team actually paying attention to us. Yes, there is a LOT of cheesy builds currently but after what they did to PvP can you REALLY say you want them messing with our game mode? Just something to chew on.

well they kind of need to if they want to keep that part of the game going, its falling apart though I don’t feel like the problems with the ui and like you said its more just a balance issue but atm they need to start separating pve and wvw skills (yes this is a thing) though there was a lot more things that contributed to what happened there

I would like if they made a mix of the new system and the old, where in it still has to use supplys and workers but it automatic choose the upgrades, as I did like that you had to choose between using your supply to upgrade or attacking but really don’t want them to add the gold cost back

um are we playing the same class here? engi always required a huge amount of focus to play, not even by just paying attention to the map but keeping mental track of your CD’s to make sure you don’t switch to a kit you shouldn’t be on yet, and I find the delay a bit more useful as after a bit of testing a realized the blast goes from where you are standing allowing me to position myself to try and make sure the allies I want to heal get the heals instead of the guy at 90% health and the delay shouldn’t effect getting more blast and leaps in as the duration of the field has not changed

It’s funny that after 4 years people still haven’t figured the flamethrower out. I will drop a hint and say there is a very specific combination of things that makes the FT the most amazing thing on the planet.

There was one guy who got soooo close, so close to figuring it out. He got the concept down but applied it to the wrong thing.

I will say the most amazing thing I’ve ever experienced in gw2 was having 3 downed people in the cone of my ft burning to death from losing a 3v1 then having a thief come up, watch his entire team burn, say nope x4 and go into stealth never to return.

FT engi is like an elite club. When you figure it out, you just know -then you never share the secret with anyone. I might make some exceptions though.

Just remember in FT club we don’t talk about FT club

this is acutally really true, I just found out some of my friends didn’t even know that you can time the 3 on ft to reflect projectiles

I serious have never once thought about using the tool belt skill on turrets as they are small unnoticable abilites with the only one being any form of useful (and again not by much) is the rifle and thumpers as you can use those while stunned

It was so much better, at least for self heals. The new med kit can’t do kitten to myself or allies.

This so much. I have no idea why its not done yet. Its just a minor change, not a real gamechanger.

it really isn’t, in only the most ideal situation will it cleanse any one but you in its current form, and its the only gyro that does a single target ability (for blast I’m counting its explosion not its throwing dart)

just spitting out a few ideas I came up with to try and make certain unused skills / traits (gadets, most gyros, etc.) more useful/ used more often

utility goggles: leaves what is alreayd there (the blind immunity and fury) but adds a pulsing aoe for its duration, giving nearby enemies x% increased incoming damage (outside of vulnerability)

land mine: increase the aoe by 60 and have it remove a few more boons (and maybe increasing its damage

purge gyro: simply make it a aoe condi clease instead of a single target

every single turret: give them a reduced condi damage unless the player giving the condis is targeting the turret

med kit: make its auto attack work like the druids and atleast do some damage, though for the rest of the skills they should be swapped out because you can’t use any of those effectively as most of the time it rater, hits the wrong target, or your only using them on yourself.

stimulate supplier: replace this with what ever you replace the med kit skill with

couldn’t think of any for the rest of them, though the rest also have there own uses that just depend on what your build is

still disable cuz while I still have to have 7 armor sets for wvw and now kids with legendary only need 1 since they can change their runes anytime.

Oh nooo some one spent more time, effort and gold working on an armor set that cost more than all 7 of yours combined gets to stay swap and Rune swap if they own both as separate items in their inventory. How the world is coming to an end…..

so the people who have been having to spend all there money on seige, guild upgrades and all the other stuff that wvw’ers have to buy should just sod off right, how dare they want to help there sever/guild instead of work on a set of armor only they get

first the current scoring system is 5-4-3 (might as well be 1-2-3 imo but what ever) and second because with the current state of wvw it would be, server a has all the points while server b and c have kittened off because having no points would be demoralizing as kitten

Killing an NPC grants 1 stack of bloodlust sigil, killing a player grants 5.
Why not also grant 5 stacks for each successfully ressed player? Would maybe make ressing for few people more attractive than just letting teammates die. (Talking about a pugblob now).

Why should ressing people give that? People would get downed on purpose, like setting your house on fire for insurance, just cause it’s profitable. Having downed allies should never be something you can profit on. That’s bad gamedesign.

the people who would go and do that are the ones that also go and kill the neutral mobs outside of every spawn and durning acutall fights they wouldn’t because that would remove any blood lust stacks they would have on them

I didn’t read everything but what I have to say is:

The reason Scrapper added no Kits to the game is that when ANet was developing the elite they asked the community what they wanted from the class and they said: “Something that doesn’t use kits because we’re sick of using all 4 of them”.

So we got it. An elite spec that uses no kits. Only it also doesn’t use virtually anything else from the core class… or plays like it… >.>

But if you report them at least those individuals will be gone. And then they either have to buy a new account or create a free one and reach level 60 all over again. (And given how cheap copies of the base game are these days reaching level 60 on a brand new account might actually be more of a barrier.)

I can confirm as some one who made a f2p account on a different server (not for spying cause I have friends that are australlia on that server while my main is on the server my na friends are) and it was painful to get my account to lvl 60 as this one didn’t have tomes to speed it up

Why should WvW get its own legendary armor set? Hell why should it even give an alternate way to earn the current legendary armor set?

Yes, WvW deserves its own legendary backpack but thats it imo. Legendary armor is a raid exclusive, and at least for now it needs to remain that way.

In my opinion why shouldn’t WvW get its own Legendary armor set? The only reason the legendary armor is raid exclusive right now was to make people actually play the raids… Don’t get me wrong I’m sure people would have still played the raid regardless but not even close to the amount that presently do.

Saying it needs to remain that way right now is ridiculous though. Them adding an alternative path for other parts of the game, not just raiders should have been implemented since the start.

and they could make it so that you still have to buy hot to use it by simply putting items or the collection itself behind the provision line if there worry is that they would lose sales

Remove the cast time on medic gyro and its tool belt skill and give it to function gyro instead.

well I don’t agree with adding it to function gyro as that will mean it will only get in the way when your trying to stomp some one normally I have no idea as to why they added the cast time to medic in the first place as it was one of the only things it really had over heal turret

As a work around for things like that, ping it in chat and copy and paste. you’ll still need to remove the brackets but at least you won’t have misspellings to contend with.

when was it able to copy paste things in chat, did I miss something in the patch notes? also for those saying about legendrarys I already have 500 of them as well as having a gift of mastery for if I do decided to make one when in my collectables and with me mostly being a wvw player I won’t need them for the clovers the problem is that there starting to overflow into my mains inventory now

edit: I also find all the non legendary things you can craft with them ugly

could this be removed I understand its there from back when shards where hard to get but nowadays I get them way to easy and I don’t make to many legendarys so having to type out the name to delete them is a bit of a annoyance especially with the fact that you have to type the number of shards you are deleting

You are foolish to disregard this and the potential it would bring to the mode. If not revive orbs then something else of similar value should be used.

Also its not P2W. Its ‘Pay to save time’ = P2ST. Lets not confuse the two. Pve already has P2ST firmly implanted in its skull. WvsW as well has also taken quite a few steps into the P2ST model (guild siege taking less supply, golemns, siege costs in general, commander tag cost, guild upgrades, COMBAT BOOSTERS.etc etc). You understand now? You are already in a P2ST mode. This idea with revive orbs is no different than any of the others, except now its something that will “give back” to the gamemode rather than take away from it.

Yes it is provocative and ‘threatening’ since it confirms what the gamemode is and has become. But once we accept this….we can move forward for the better rather than drowning in ignorance to the bottom of the sea.

You should be happy with ideas like this….!
You can’t help the mode if you can’t admit to what it already is
Most of the other ideas for improvement were ‘seflish’, that is why they failed and why anet disregarded them. This is an idea that accepts what the mode is.

Everyone with an account can vote.

It’s just that not everyone gets the mail to tell people there is a vote going on.
You have to be in WvW during the period they decide to send messages out.

You just have to keep checking https://feedback.guildwars2.com and login to vote.

But yes, I too think the message should be sent to everyone, not just those in WvW at a certain unknown time.

free to play players can’t vote and the unknown time is when the player rank ups x amount of times during the week of said poll though I disagree about it being sent to everyone cause that might turn some votes into votes by people that don’t play wvw at all

Zerg Busting, still a thing?

Hey all, did some reading, watched some videos, and people tend to think that the ol, “15 vs 30+” zerg busting is dead, due to massive stability applications, ect. Do you all think it’s dead? If not, do you all have any, “Go-to” classes/builds that would be recommended for that sort of play?

Reason I ask, is that my guild and I don’t just want to be another one of those, “Guild groups” in WvW, and want to concentrate on being able to bust up larger groups then ours, atleast 2x our size.
