OK Anet so you don’t want me to help my team mates by making traps trig-able by me. Of course why should you? Rangers are so OP at the moment. All you see in WvW are rangers. You guys are awesome at class balancing. Now what about letting my pet howl on the move or let me target an area howl. This way after 2.5 seconds or whatever the ability would actually work instead of being completely useless. My guardian skills F1-F3 work, why do you do all you can so rangers skills F2 don’t work? Oh wait, you released a crap cough cough sorry I mean crab game. So awesome! We’ve been expecting for that since the game was launched.

Increased passive toughness by 100%.” This one is pretty awesome. Sick’Em is also pretty good. In sPvP. And this is it. This is the massive ranger buff.

Use Burn, Bleed and Frost traps for fast and hard group fights. Use a combination of pure carrion (armor) and ?+rabid (trinkets) gear. Weapons can be either though I would suggest carrion. Atm I use rampager and they’re ok.

I’m just going to say 1 thing here. Well, more actually.. Trappers are awesome in WvW!! Idk about warriors much. I haven’t played mine in WvW yet. Engineers and thieves are meeeh. My commander though, he prefers rangers over these last 2. So NO!! under no circumstances are rangers the blacksheep class. We don’t have many alternatives to trapping but at least this build is fun and devastating if you know how to use it and what to equip.

Hello Anet! I request that you make the traps available to remote detonation by me. Why? Combo fields!! Detonate Fire trap, use blast finishers Aaand we have stacks of might. Thank you.

Really just make them work like the GS skill #4 works. I don’t see a reason why others can use their combo fields to help their teammates and I can’t.

Scratch that! Use this http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/. It’s easier to use, more intuitive.

For WvW roaming you can go for a combination of rabid, carrion and soldier armor. But you need to change your build. While you could do good in 5vs5 fights you will do bad in zerg fights because your pet will die in an instant. If it’s a good zerg that is. And if you attack it’s core. And if you have no pet your damage output will drop considerably. You could switch to traps. I’ve been playing a trapper for quite some time now and people actually pick me for their parties.. Atm I have combination of carrion, rabid, rampager and berserker armor but I will switch the berserker soon. It’s very bad for WvW. For anything actually.

I use knights armour and berserker trinkets. Lets you hit mostly like a GC but with more toughness than people expect from you, and as long as you have enough condition removal and use evades well you’ll have no trouble surviving and dealing a ton of damage. Can either go with defensive or offensive runes depending on your preference.

Careful with that! I’ve been using rampager for quite some time and it’s not good. I need to be super careful. Also, as you asked.. no vitality? I’ve tested rabid vs carrion in tPvP and imo carrior is much better than rabid. I would go with vit over tough.

@Rawthorne.8675 So you run traps with what? ~400 condition damage? That seems a bit low to me. I use Carrion + Melandru runes. What’s happening is that I trade prec for cond dmg. Also conditions last a shorter period of time on me. And I’m also on a T1 server. SFR.

@Silverkung.9127 When you say power do you mean power or attack and when you say toughness do you mean toughness or armor?

I have been playing ranger for 4 months now in general pve, fractals, spvp and wvw. In my opinion rangers are not bad at all. Only some ranger builds are. Some other builds are decent and some are even awesome. Some are situational but if you know how and when to use them they are, again, awesome. Beastmasters and trappers are good. Oh oooh. I don’t know much about traps. But.. with those weapons the build that you have there looks ace. Use rabid armor of course. One suggestion: Use Sigils of might (10 seconds CD) on primary weapons, Sigil of Earth on the warhorn (more bleeds) and Sigil of Venom on the dagger (deny healing).

edit: The only problem is condition removal. I use Melandru in sPvP but Undead looks so enticing.. I don’t know. You should play with both and see what’s better.

Comet find a team and start playing Tourneys. People in random games suck really hard so the only way they can win is with numbers or using classes which can be exploited (i.e. mesmers and thieves). Since I’ve started playing tourneys and fighting them 1 on 1 I have not lost 1 single fight vs mesmers or thieves. Just goes to show how bad are these players. Thieves mostly.

As all professional rangers before me said, turn auto-attack off!! Target your target, or not, but turn auto-attack off! You do not take a DPS fall. I’m testing an SB/S&D build in sPvP now (with auto-attack off and target on) and I’m kitten the newbies. Tbh I wished you had animations on all 3 attacks and not just the last 2 of the chain. Nearly all of my targets keep running away from me. It’s a lot of fun.

I do not agree with this. I know the pets are buggy but you can make it work together. I’m starting to love some of them lately and I do not want to fight without one at my side.

Also we might not have too many disruption skills (except Sb #5, which is very good btw) we do have a lot of dodges/evades. I tried a new Sb/Sword + dagger build last night. Quite useful I might say.

How i understand this game is that it works on build counters . I fully agree that the thief is OP because it has huge burst potential , and can choose fights and has many escape mechanisms , even solid sustain .

However, shouldn’t the apothecary beastmaster build hard counter thiefs ? I mean , you would have 3000 armor , heavy protection procs , lots of evades and healing .

I run something similar and so far I have never lost a 1vs1 fight vs a thief. Not saying I’m owning them. I have to use every trick I have. And it’s hard because pets are bugged, I have to wait for them to get out of stealth and use F1 (for the pet), dodge and 1 (for me) while the thief only has to use 1. But it’s doable. After all that’s why we play rangers. Because we like the challenge. And that’s why they play thieves.. because they suck.

Wow! The guy giving an example of how much he owns in WvW in 1vs1 or 1vs2 fights.. Clueless! Well, he does play as a mesmer and as a thief… Now I know we need people to flip supply camps, disrupt enemy supply lines but we also need people who fight in large groups. Rangers are bad in large groups. No one gives a kitten that I only lost a few fights in sPvP out of more than a hundred. People care about what I do in WvW! And I can barely keep up with the state the class is in right now. Also not having a free armor/weapon/upgrade system in WvW makes this nearly impossible for us to adapt. WvW is just insane expensive for us. We farm weeks to get the right stuff and then Anet goes and nerfs us again and puff!!.. They’re like Suck it losers!! Go waste another month of your lifetime and then we’ll nerf that build as well.

“Another thing I’d like to mention is that pet F2 skills don’t display a their recharge timer even when you change the options to show recharge timers. It would be great if F2 skills could show recharge timers so I can make better informed decisions with my pet.” This!

It depends on the focus of said guild. I like small, tight groups. Some people like armies.. But those soldiers will never know each other as well and will never have as much fun as smaller guilds do. The trick here is to find people who share the same interests as you do. An alternative would be spread people into different guilds with different focuses but stay in the same alliance. This way pve-ers could ask pvp-ers for advice when they go to spvp or wvw and pvp-ers could ask pve-ers for help when they go to dungeons or fractals. It really is a very complicated issue and it’s very hard to find the right people but when you do everyone responsibilities will become apparent.

As the title says I’m looking for a Hardcore or Semi-hardcore WvW Guild on Seafarer’s Rest. I’m interested in a group of people who can follow a commander and run supplies, escort dolyaks or harass enemy supply lines depending on the situation. In other words, do what ever it needs to be done for the world. This group would also need to move as a group and not as individuals. Those parties are formed for a reason you know.

Hi! I’m looking for a disciplined group which listens to a decent leader. A group which plays together as often as possible. A group that follows a commander or roams the battlefield harassing the enemy when needed. A group that can adapt.

Respect! You guys are kittening awesome in WvW! I’m from SFR and I enjoy fighting you even though we lose a lot of fights to your groups. What can I say? I enjoy a challenge! Also, I admire you for not switching servers. Many so called “awesome” guilds do that instead of fighting for their server. That is not how you become stronger.

Heh, read a few posts. I know what you mean sceptus but tbh I don’t give a kitten. A lot of people might say that on TS but how many have the courage to say it to your face? And how many of those have the courage to fight you in 1vs1? And how many do actually win? Before they nerfed quickness I was owning pretty much everything except always invisible thieves and 1000 powerful illusions mesmers. Now I’ve changed to Sb/Sb Jaguar beastmaster and I haven’t lost 1 fight in 1vs1. So I feel pretty good about my class. Sure I’ve been pushed into a corner like a rat because of the lack of builds but we’re rangers! We’ll always adapt! The best of us will anyway.

Wow! This is.. incredible!! I don’t know about you guys but to me it just seems that Anet hates rangers. First there are no Rampager Ascended rings, amulets and backpacks and I end up spending 20 Pristine Fractal Relics, 30 Laurels and 1350 Fractal Relics on gear that is not optimal for me. Than they put them in there. It’s like “Ha! kittener!! You’ve just wasted a month of your game time.” And now this.. Now I’ll probably have to change all of my gear because unless I switch to longbow, which I WILL NOT, I’m going to die a lot. There are some good news though, they’ve fixed the 3rd downed skill after 7 months of the game being released. Well, we’re going to needed now after they’ve completely kittened us SB rangers up. Anet, you guys… you did so good with GW1, and now this.. Next time just don’t make a ranger class if you don’t like it really.

Hello! So as the topic says I love this game. My problem is that I can’t find other people who do. Almost everyone plays for the rewards they get when they finish something and not for the experiences or for the ones they play with. I’m on Seafarer’s Rest and I like WvW and Fractals. In WvW I like to roam in small parties taking and defending small objectives and/or follow the commander. In Fractals I like to complete all the content. I despise people who cheat using bugs or exploits. I’m looking for a small but active guild who shares my ideals. I hope there is at least 1 out there. Thanks. See you in-game.
