My charr herald, Jagara Silverbleed. She’s currently using some merciless weapons (gosh i love those), the Cook’s outfit (details like the bladed muzzle and claws on hind legs make this an amazing outfit for charr!) and of course, as a condi Mallyx/Glint herald, The Tormentor title :P

I also encountered this problem, then i read somewhere that i mustn’t die, and then it will work. So i killed the chak off slowly, one by one and it worked. Strange thing is, when ithe achievement popped up as completed, there were still like 5 small chaks and a veteran alive in the pit.

That is true, but i’ve seen such thing happen in the Silverwastes many times when people who didn’t see the message about closing (or didn’t know that it would still close under all circumstances) started to taxi more people, trying to make an event map. And then all those people had a nasty surprise at Vinewrath.

While i found Tangled Dephts to be the most complicated and hard to navigate, i cannot get over the fact that it is gorgeous. It makes up for every minute (hour?) i’ve spent running around frustrated, trying to find my way somewhere.
On the other hand, Dragon’s Stand just feels bland and uninteresting compared to the rest. I loved the big fight at the end, but the music, the atmosphere, the scenery itself is just…. meh…
My favourite of course is the City of Shinies :P

Reaper made me return to my long forgotten necro (which was my oldest character too). Now I only need to unlock the very last skill and she’s complete as a reaper, but the spec was enjoyable even as a char with one major and two minor traits on day one. It feels really fun and strong.

Experience with thief: I’ve leveled up thieves a few times but never felt like i really got the hang of it. I’ve tried playing with D/D, D/P, S/D, i tried backstab builds, venom build for wvw, acro build, and now i’m trying to build a hybrid (power/condi) but i could really use some advice from much more experienced thieves, regarding playstyles and builds :>

I’d think that image is for beastmastery line. I know it has an image right now but maybe they’ll change it. Plus druids are supposed to deal more with plants.

All we know for sure is that the game won’t be down for the update, it never is. There will be an in-game system message telling you that a new build is available and you should restart the game, and that is kinda it.

It doesn’t sound odd, though norn mesmers are not very common i think. Or maybe i just don’t see them all that much.
If you’re asking lorewise – it’s still not odd, Raven is a spirit who represents wit, cunning, trickyness, etc. which is all pretty much in line with mesmer’s concept.

I’ve always loved to level my necros with staff and dagger/X (warhorn here for speed, focus for vuln and regen, dagger for more dmg, i often changed the offhand weapon around)
I love that they are so tanky for a light armor class. They are the easiest to level imo among the three light classes.
Also, people don’t really like necros because they lack good group support, but when you level and do soloable content, this “selfish” class is great.

I stop and stare at my characters’ head in cities and safe places all the time.

Thank you for your feedback! Yes, i had a bit of a dilemma about the jokes, but i thought, aw well, even if not everyone finds them humorous, it is a good practice anyway to make such a video. And we had a good laugh nevertheless. But yeah i was a bit concerned that maybe not everyone finds the same things funny….

I love the archer archetype in every game – so i was actually a bit disappointed that GW2 ranger didn’t work as a viable archer for so long. I still enjoyed the class, but after longbow became viable, i had my wish.
Plus, I enjoy that even as a full berserker the class isn’t as squishy as some other classes.

Me and my bf are enthusiastic GW2 players who have been at it for 2+ years now, and for the first time ever, after a few cups of wine we’ve decided to make our first video, just for fun! We used our own characters and ideas that we’ve come up with last week. It was a lot of fun making this, even if it’s not perfect.

It’s a compilation of really short videos with matching music, so to fully enjoy, you have to pay attention to lyrics and such

If Eir’s and Rytlock’s faces are available at the default character creation, i’m not sure why Caithe’s and Logan’s faces shouldn’t be available. (I’m not even sure if Logan’s and Zojja’s faces are available or not, i haven’t really played around with asura and male human character creation)

+1, it’s nice to see positive feedback and i also love the game despite any problem it might have.
I took 1-2 month brakes now and then (twice beacuse of computer breakdown) but this is my longest played mmo so far and i don’t see myself leaving it in the future.

Wow, thanks, well now it rings a bell. I thought that image appeared as it is in one of the intro versions. It doesn’t look nearnly as freaky the way it’s shown in the actual video but as someone else has already written – nice find!

I don’t understand the sylvari hate here o_O I mean lots of ppl are saying they don’t like them… i think their design is really creative and awesome.

Back on topic: i probably won’t make a new sylvari in HoT, i’ll play with my 2 existing sylvaris (a necro and a thief) and for a Revenant i am torn between human and charr. Every armor looks good on humans, but i love charr so much. Maybe i’ll make both and decide later which one to keep.

o_o she’s freaky and looks kinda out of place…. she resembles nothing i’ve seen in this game, nor in art style, nor in looks. Which intro cinematic showed you this? I mean what did you choose at character creation? (I’ve made several sylvaris with different character choices but don’t remember this lady)

After 2 and a half years of not-always-active playing (meaning i’ve missed out a few months now and then, and almost the whole living story season 1 – but i am over 11k AP now) I now have one lvl 80 char of every class in the game. I’ve completed this recently with warrior, which i’ve refused to play for a very long time, and when i did start to level one occasionally, i usually quit it before lvl 50.

Anyways! This is the only game where i found myself switching “main characters” every few months. My oldest char is a sylvari necro, but i haven’t played with her actively with like a year or so. My second oldest char is a human ranger that i loved for many months. It was the 1st char that had 100% map completion and therefore i considered her my main for a long time. She got the biggest inventory bags, she was the one i went to world bosses with, etc.
But after some time i became a bit bored with ranger too, so i moved on to a different class. I eventually leveled every profession like this, even several characters of the same profession – i have a delete count of 3 level 80 necros, 2 guards, and 2 thieves so far while still having one at lvl 80 currently.

It was very nice trying all classes, but i think the one that taught me most about game mechanics was Elementalist, which i now consider my main. After i experienced how unforgiving this class is (meaning if a mob farts on you, you die) and how aware i have to be of my surroundings and how well i needed to dodge to survive, this class simply improved my gameplay with every other class as well. Where i did “ok” before ele, i was invincible after ele! (okay, little exaggeration there)
Of course, there were a few months when i haven’t touched my ele either, but i found myself coming back to her once and i’m stuck with her ever since (a ferocious charr female btw). I completed 100% world just before they removed the WvW completion from it, so i still experienced trying to get the last vista+poi for a week :P

I live in Hungary, and the only game i ever played in hungarian was like…. Metin 2…. and “fans” translated that crap into hungarian for free (well, for the rights of being administrators and GMs of the game). And that was the “official” game.
And LoL has gotten hungarian dub recently, which is nice, but i don’t play that.
And that’s it, anything else we want to play, we have to play in english. To be honest, this is totally fine for me, at least i can practice a second language and learn it in a fun way.

To the ones saying OP’S english seems fine: well if he really has trouble doing quests because he can’t understand them, he probably just asked a friend who knows english to translate what he wanted to say.

Mah favourite look on my charr elementalist. I’ve always loved cultural T3 headpiece. The one thing i’m kinda looking to change is the leg part, but i haven’t found anything i liked better than this. I used the Vigil leggings for a while but then decided on this one.
Also, i’ve been using the cultural T3 chest before i noticed the Trickster chestpiece is also sleeveless and works very well with the headpiece.

As far as i know, mobs started acting this way after the camera patch. At least that was the soonest i noticed. I still can’t decide if this is intended or just a bug.

Engineers with shield are really good roamers as far as i know, i’ve seen quite a few roaming videos too with pistol/shield engis. Elixir gun is also supposed to be good because of its utility.
Scepter for ele is more of a PvE weapon, that’s true, so that is kinda rare in WvW zergs… staff does the job perfectly there.
I don’t know about guardians cuz most of them usually have staff out, but i know i’ve been doing some zerging with mace (traited for more healing), apart from that it does seem like a rare choice.

i hope you know that EOTM isn’t actually wvw, it has become a PVE train so you are more likely to find PVE builds rather than wvw builds in there

Yes, i know it’s very different than “regular” WvW because it has the trains and the strong pve element, but still the world versus world element is there too.
And OP stated his experience comes from wvw and open world pve too, so i thought eotm might not be too far off the point Plus…. zerging is zerging, and i think most people who run with zergs in eotm don’t use the exact same builds as in pve.

Oooh, i haven’t seen those hairstyles yet but kitten , the right one looks really good! Too bad i don’t have a norn…. do you happen to have any other race’s hairstyles datamined, or just a link to them or something?

But on topic: i’m also very curious when we get new hairstyles. I was a bit disappointed when we got new faces recently but no new hair, they usually came together. :/ So i’ve been saving up gem ever since, hoping the hairstyles would be out soon after the faces. I am still hoping for a gemstore update for today – lots of people said the Balthazar outfit would be out today so maybe some new hairs too…? I can only hope.

I really love charr, i have several female charrs, and i enjoy good looking armor on them (which is harder to find than i’d like) but when i saw that outfit on my charr…. ugh…. well no thanks. It’s not sexy at all, and i don’t want my charr to be “sexy” in any (human) way. Except maybe for what the charr themselves consider sexy, which is probably very different from what humans consider sexy. You know… healthy fur and teeth, shiny eyes, healthy/big antlers/horns – the kind of things animals usually base their choices of mates on. Armor/clothes that maybe emphasise their muscles and not something like this outfit. To me, this look is more ridiculous than anything. And no offense, really, i am glad at least some people will get what they wanted to see on charrs. It’s just so not my thing.

You seem to have missed my point even though you probably read through what i wrote.
I’m not offended, i’m enjoying the april’s fool stuff. If it was about titanic and i had relatives who died there (:P), i wouldn’t care because it wouldn’t be a FRESH wound. However, because these events are so recent, i’m only saying it’s totally understandable if some people with personal connection to them feel this is just wrong or might feel uncomfortable.

I am not an atheist at all, yet when i see any kind of religion being discussed in chat, it makes me nervous. Sometimes it’s just plain freakin’ annoying, other times serious fights happen in chat because of it. People start arguing over it as if they could persuade one another about their views. It’s really childish i think, and it’s kinda like arguing about which colour is the most beautiful; to each their own, and frankly, no one gives a kitten about other ppl’s beliefs. If someone wants to discuss such things, they should do so in whisper.

I also feel similar. Before the expansion announcement, i was going for my first legendary, the Predator, which is kinda the only legendary that looks appealing to me…. and then i heard there will be new ones so i kinda just left it there half finished, thinking i should see the new legendaries, because what if i’ll find more that i like in that set. Hell, i may be even able to use some of the stuff i crafted so far to craft a new legendary…

So i left the legendary hanging, i left my Engineer hanging (she was supposed to get it), i leveled 2 more alts but now i have 8 lvl 80s, of which i like my charr ele the most right now, but i’ve already done 100% world with her and completed some story achievements that i was not planning to, even finished the luminescent set (which i thought i don’t even wanna go after, since it looked super troublesome) and i’m left with harvesting through whole maps, doing world bosses, sometimes dungeons, sometimes a little eotm, but meh…. i feel like the game is in “standby mode” with nothing happening. I just wish we got some content every few weeks, even if not the continuation of the story.

I used to run zerker staff ele, but since i often play after i get home → i am tired → i make more mistakes → i die more, i switched to full Soldier armor and only left most of my (ascended) trinkets zerker. Still works pretty well, only there is more room for mistakes and for helping/rezzing others. Plus the sweet feeling you get when a lot of zerks die around you but you’re still standing.

I don’t think we’ll get the same spear weapon that’s an aquatic weapon right now, on land. They could make a similar weapon, but using the same one wouldn’t really work, as they would have to make trident and harpoon gun land weapons too at some point i think. And trident is essentially a staff, and harpoon gun is a rifle.
I would love a spear-like weapon on land though, something like a lance perhaps? But i also love the concept of revenant’s martial staff. It would be strange though with some staff skins…. imagine pounding the enemy’s head with Kasmeer’s staff :P (especially with a big-kitten dark armored charr)

My oldest character, Ciara Eldersoul. She has been through quite a lot of changes, but this is the latest one, and i’m really satisfied with it

1-2 months ago, just when i started complaining that in 2+ years of (not always very) active playing i’ve never gotten anything, The Energizer dropped from a Veteran Dredge in Snowden drifts.

I have the same problem and i think someone should seriously look into this issue. I’m starting to be afraid that the patch somehow permanently ruined this challenge mote.

Some details: i have done every living story episode and almost all achievements needed for the Luminescent achievement. All that are left are these 2 achievements from Seeds of truth: Wicked rodeo (i failed it several times, but the mote works in this instance) and Meeting the Asura.
I have tried relogging several times yesterday evening and today (more than 20 attempts).
I have turned my mini off as i read somewhere that minis might interfere with challenge motes spawning.
I have tried going in the instance with a guildie who has also completed the story. Challenge mote did not spawn even then. Note that he has completed all the achievements too, but my character had the achievement icon on.
I have tried replaying the episode and then reentering the instance. The mote did not spawn either time.
I have tried entering with a different character that has also completed the story. No luck.
I have tried reloging several times with this other character. Still no luck.

Note: i haven’t had any issues at all with any other LS episode/chapter’s challenge motes.
Based on these i’d say this is a more serious issue than before, when challenge motes just occasionally wouldn’t spawn but would be there after 4-5 attempts of relog.

UPDATE: I came across a person selling Unforgiving infiltration (the challenge mote achi) in LFG and the challenge mote actually did spawn for him. When i entered the instance with him he said the other buyer before me said the same as me – that the mote simply wouldn’t spawn for him, even after several relogs. But for this seller guy, the mote was there immediately. So it seems it isn’t bugged for everyone.
On the character he was playing with, he didn’t have this achi. He said he had all the others though.

Hasn’t anybody seen the light armor class with main hand sword and off hand dagger in the first HoT trailer? That is an ele, so → eles get a sword.
How can we know? Because we know every class gets only 1 new weapon. We know for sure that necro gets a greatsword and mesmer gets a shield, So that leaves us with ele, who can wield a dagger already, so it has to be sword main hand.
WoodenPotatoes also speculated sword the same way in a video.

I am not satisfied with the charr faces. I play female charr and i like my charrs dangerous-looking, but the one with warpaint for example looks like it’s just wearing a mask. The other two are just…. meh. I’m glad that others like them though.
The only faces that i considered getting from the new ones were 2 of the 3 new norn female faces. (the one with freckles and the other one that’s basically the same but without freckles). Those look gorgeous.
I didn’t really have a problem with human female faces either, a little bit too much makeup for my taste but that’s it.
The sylvari faces are really cute)

I don’t know why people think necros are crap, necro is my main and i’ll tell you now, I can pump out enough damage if I need to, I can survive if I need to, I can cc if I need to.

It seems to me that there are many people who have done a bit of a walkthrough on necro and decided they don’t like it and havnt experienced how to play it properly or have been involved with necros who don’t know what they are doing for the situation they are in.

I sort of agree, but i think the main problem with necro is that it’s a “selfish” class, not capable of giving enough support in a dungeon for example. It can’t really give boons, it doesn’t deal insane dps, it can’t give good heal support. That said, i do love necros and i think an experienced player behind a necro can still help a lot in dungeons too (i’ve had full groups wipe while i alone survived and killed off every mob, finished the job and rezzed everybody as a necro)
I don’t really pvp but if i remember correctly necros are supposed to be good in that :P
In WvW, i loved necro – so much survivability, tons of AoE (=>tagging), and the fun with fearing half the enemy zerg off a bridge :P

Charr. And awesome graphics, animation and music. And charr. And the fact that every class feels so unique. Also the fact that it’s buy to play and has a nice community and i always have something to do in this game. And the charr.

When someone starts ranting about how bad this game is and how they still haven’t gotten a precursor and how thieves are OP as hell and how much everything in the game sucks. Because there are such people still playing the game, god knows why.
