I don’t think conformity is really the issue (tho, I get that sheep will be sheep). There ARE Events going on prior to FE that players will miss out on due to doing the Ogre event with you. If they can do the Ogre event AFTER, they get MAXIMUM rewards. Do you not see that your actions ARE counter productive to the greater good (as stupid as that sounds saying about a game)?
There are those of us that only care for ourselves, those of us that care for a group, and those of us that care for everyone. For better or worse I’m the type that cares for my group above all else. HOWEVER I do warn in map chat, so that everyone present has the option of joining in if they so wished.
As far as trains go and the greater good? No. There isn’t much difference between what is going on here with FE/Ogre than there ever was with someone killing a champ out of order in Queensdale or Frostgorge. People feel so entitled to their train and their order that anyone that doesn’t fall in line must be treated with contempt. How awful is that and why should I respect them for it?
Exactly WHY is showing up 5 or 10 minutes later (if all you want is the FE kill) and then doing the Ogre with the entire map, not possible for you?
Sometimes it is. There are times when we get to Metrica Province too late and calling Ogre out would be unreasonable – knowing that not everyone would be able to make it. So we wait until after. However many times we have another Temple/Boss in waiting that we must rush to ASAP. We may have a scout on an active Foulbear map going into Stravig phase or a Lyssa at 50%. Haste is required in those cases. So its better for us to be done ASAP.
Irregardless of how I, you or anyone feels about the “rightness” of what you are doing, you will NOT stop the hating by posting this here….you can only stop the hating by not doing what you are being hated for.
Oh I wasn’t expecting this thread to stop the abuse I receive for my actions here. How could it when only a fraction of players even view the forums? No… I just had to get it off my chest, you know? But I disagree to your statement on only stopping the hate by not doing what I’m being hated for… I could also stop warning in map chat.
However I don’t think I’ll do that…. because THAT would be selfish.
EDIT: I 100% agree that abusive messages and mail are childish and in no way productive (or needed) but you are talking about a bunch of people that are playing a video game…..not sure what you expect, so grow some thick skin if you plan to do something to PO them (whether or not you think it should upset them or not).
That’s the thing – I don’t deserve the abusive messages. Yet the more I receive the easier it is for me to view the masses as being a collective PITA. I know they’re not… but still. Do you know that not a single person has ever asked nicely that Ogre be done after FE? In all the time that we’ve done it this way? Not one.
The more I think about it, the more I’d like Centaur the most. Though I’d put plenty of gold on Tengu being the first race introduced (though who has any idea how many years it will be before a new playable race will be introduced.)
Why did they have to “fix” low-pop servers? There was nothing at all wrong with them. I like a low population server. That’s why I chose the one I did at the beginning. Now no matter where I go, I’m on an ultra-high population server, and it really annoys me.
The solution might have been to allow occasional free server transfers (say two to four weekends a year maybe?). People could gravitate towards the level of population that they liked until they found a suitable home. And WvW would (hopefully) not be seriously messed up if the free transfers happened infrequently enough.
Everyone gets to play “their way”. The world doesn’t get torn apart.
I agree with you in this, Hamfast.
If the problem was population based, they should have come up with a solution that didn’t screw so many people over. There was no compromise and now there is no choice. You don’t like 100 people at your event with you? Well too bad – Either deal with it or GTFO. That seems to be ArenaNet’s stance anyway.
I really don’t understand it. There were high pop and low pop servers… why did they take the choice away?
Hence people are starting to resort to other methods such as buy gems to convert to gold.
Arwen, do we know how many people are actually doing that? Is there a site where we can see the gem>gold conversion happening in real time? I’m curious about it. Personally I have a hard time putting money into a game that is letting its customer base down.
Maw takes effort? How cute is that….
I would like to see more options for male and female characters, and not have the other races left with subpar qualities of the human/norn armor skins.
PvE only players CAN complete Monthly.
There. Fixed it for you.
Commander tags should NOT be buyable for many people that don’t even know what to do with it.
suggestions make 2 version of commander tag a pve and pvp one
split the price of the two to 50 gold each + a required thing to do
Problem is how can you police someone for using a tag “correctly” or not?
I agree with the idea of creating different kinds of tags in the future, though I would worry about the maps becoming flooded with a rainbow of tags — especially if we were to lower the price of tags as you suggest. If anything I’d say we should raise the cost of a tag, as 100g was intimidating at launch but just isn’t today in this market. Adding an achievement prerequisite is also a good idea on paper — but what would qualify someone as a good WvW, PvE, Guild commander?
Only someone that is pro at killing Teq and/or Triple Threat makes a good PvE commander?
Only someone that has killed 20,000 players in World vs. World is a good WvW commander?
I don’t believe so.
The professions are different. Mind blowing, right?

I certainly wouldn’t mind seeing a reappearance of the Tengu weapons that were available in the bonus mission pack. I had the Tengu sword and bow. They were puuuurty
I loved the Tengu shield.
The amount of shield skins that I would be caught wielding can be counted on one hand in GW2…. less so if you count the ones that don’t clip on my charr’s armor.
I don’t like the megaserver at all. It is better than what we had, with empty zones, but I would like a system where users can instead select from a list of districts like:
>Tarnished Coast (your server district)
>District 1 (93% full)
>District 2(83% full)
>District .. 23 (15% full)And also gives us the option of what sort of district we want to automatically be assigned: server, high pop, low pop
Ah, a dream come true if they put this in.
Agreed.
Had 7 Coin Purses from those SW Lost Bandit Chests in my inventory. Opened them all quickly and got my very first precursor. The Legend. Gave it away to a friend less than an hour later.
Guess all things come in time. Even though I didn’t keep it — it was a great feeling just being blessed by the RNG gods like that.
Put repair costs back. Make it free to move within a zone (like in a city).
Granted I’m all for repair costs but I think that is a topic for a different thread.
As for waypoint costs being free inside of a zone, like LA, I don’t understand where that is coming from on this thread. If you port to WPA but get redirected to WPB or WPC, you won’t be able to port again to WPA unless it becomes uncontested while you’re on your way over to it.
Frankly, I don’t want anything more to be made free. We have an excess of gold as it is – gold sinks are welcome (real or imagined). If you don’t want to pay for waypointing, then feel free to run.
Shame on you for opening a second thread on the same topic as the other “meta” thread that is not but a handful of spaces below this one.
Its as low as multiple mount threads.
Shame on you.
Technically, they could. They could decrease the afk timer to a ridiculously low number, like in activities. of course, this would cause rage storms from all the people that just needed to go to the loo in a 1 hour SW…
It’s choosing between two evils, and it’s only to question which evil has the better pay-off.
If they shortened the afk timer to 1min while inside an active event perimeter, I’d say that would work. Anyone that needs to step away for a drink or nature break could very easily step outside of an event circle before stepping away.
Do you remember those titles that you could get that actually came with character buffs? Like the Ebon Vanguard title/rank that gave you Rebel Yell. THAT I would like to see again in some way.
