I know its amusing to some and frustrating for others… but its actually making me very sick. I’ve never had issues with motion sickness in GW2 until today.

I just can’t play like this.

For all of you that are feeding off of the “haters” on this forum thread, does that not mean anything to you? That some of us physically can’t take it as a joke?

Dwarves are dead (turned to stone – meaning no longer dwarves – see EotN in GW1) – only one left alive (Ogden Stonehammer). All the Stone Summit are deakitten

he only one that is amused when people make statements like this?

Its perfectly acceptable in a fantasy MMORPG for dwarves to be turned to stone but it is then impossible for that to change? Interesting.

EDIT: No matter how many times I edit it correctly, its not fixing the error.

Racial Back Pieces

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

yes please. maybe throw in racial mounts too.

for example

humans can griffon,
asura get a spaceship
charr get a mechanical rhino/hippo
sylvari get a treant
norn get all sorts of animals

Nonono Nonono Nonono Nonono Nonono, mount threads are a dead horse.
Racial backpieces are a decent idea, though ones like Fervid Censer already are technically Sylvari backpieces.

Agreed. Wish people wouldn’t ruin a good idea by vomiting mounts into the mix.
+1 OP. I wouldn’t mind more racial gear. That would mean races outside of Human/Norn could get equal love. I’m all for that.

because if 5 people are going to key farm.. why not do it together?

With a partner that knows what he/she is doing, it can be faster, like placing eachother in key spots where we as a team can quickly move on to the next stage or talk to the next npc that much quicker. But from my experience a pug, especially if it were more than one, would just slow down my time.

If they shortened the afk timer to 1min while inside an active event perimeter, I’d say that would work. Anyone that needs to step away for a drink or nature break could very easily step outside of an event circle before stepping away.

So, I’m going to the bathroom, and I’ll feed the cats in the meantime. Takes me about 5 minutes. During that time, an event spawns around me. And I’m kicked because I happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time for a second too long.

That is correct.
It is interesting when people equate “getting kicked” with being punished. Its called a character select screen. When you return from being away — simply log back in and continue on your merry way.

If you infuse one of the rings, you can wear them both then.

^^^^^ This.

Also the description does say “Unique” which would essentially imply that you can’t wear multiples, however, that isn’t explained anywhere, so I could see how someone wouldn’t notice that or if they did not really know what it means.

But there’s a work-around like TheDaiBish said, so no worries OP.

The “work-around” you speak of only works if you know about it beforehand. I’ll say that I did not and infused both rings, both the same defensive ring, and THEN learned what “unique” meant in GW2. It was a painful learning experience. One that could have been easily avoided.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is giving a good reason for NOT adding a more clear warning on unique trinkets.

Well then that’s a pickle. Personally I wondered why there were two rings with the exact same stats and asked it in /map, got the unique item explanation and made sure to not buy two of the same.

I’m not defending the term Unique, I agree it should be clearer, you aren’t the first person to post this same exact issue.

Yes, I know. Thankfully I was lucky enough that CS fixed the issue for me rather quickly. However they could avoid issues like this from happening in the future by fixing the problem now, before people fall into the same situation.

I’m just sick of the people on this thread that are only here because they enjoy calling other people “stupid” or “lacking common sense”.

I think BLCK farming has already had a serious effect on the sales of keys. Think of it this way, keys come from a specific number of places:

1. map completion
2. personal story 10, 30, 50 (permanent chars)
3. gem store sales.
4. daily chest
5. killing random monsters
6. key farmers

What percentage of BLCK do you guys think comes from each source? Everyone will make their own predictions, this is my personal prediction.

1. 0.2%
2. 0.2%
3. 0.2%
4. 0.2%
5. 0.2%
6. 99%

Please don’t misunderstand me I’m not saying it’s either good or bad that keys come from these sources, but I really believe the vast majority of keys are made by farmers.

I’m sorry but I laughed at this. A lot of keys come from farmers, I’ll give you that much, but to say 99% is laughable. It would have been nerfed for that very reason a VERY long time ago.

I recall watching a video of someone that had somehow amassed tens of thousands of gems (really don’t know how) and with them spent them ALL on keys. It was a sight to see. Granted that was just one video – but it applies. The gem shop is not suffering… as much as some of us wish it was at times. People purchase gems and/or farm gold and convert for keys.

Aside from roleplay reasons, why do you want to play with a ranged weapon ?

I’m honestly asking this question. And I don’t want to hear bullkitten like “because it’s what is told in the description” or “well I don’t. But if I did …”
The real reason. It can be anything, but I’m really interested in it.

Personal preference of combat style. Just like in any game players like the freedom to choose what they like and not be considered inferior for it. In fighting games some players like Grapplers, some like Rushdown fighters and some like Zoners, yet all of those playstyles are considered valid. Here we have a single playstyle that’s considered valid and a multitude that work but server no practical purpose in PvE.
This is a game that is supposed to promote creativity and personal preference in it’s combat. Is it right for over half the game’s combat options to be so weak they’re considered by some unviable?

Agree with Dual here.
But to add to it I would say that I also enjoy and appreciate diversity in gaming – which includes weapon choice and play style.

Please also consider that if ranged combat, again not just Rangers here, were considered OP and melee combat was being treated unfairly – I would be supporting the right of players that prefer to melee to have equal opportunities to be efficient, helpful, and have fun doing what they want to do.

That is correct.
It is interesting when people equate “getting kicked” with being punished. Its called a character select screen. When you return from being away — simply log back in and continue on your merry way.

if that was only true in SW… I can be in a map that is about 10 minutes away from a breach, get kicked (for whatever reason) and come back in a map that has just finished the vine…

You called my suggestion out specifically. It was reasonable in that people that know they’re stepping away for whatever reason can quickly port or run to a safe location (aka where no events are located) and then step away without being kicked by my suggested 1 min timer. That way their precious map IP is still held for them as long as they’re not afk for an hour or disconnect. So why do you insist on arguing the point?

Or are you attempting to call out an injustice when people don’t return to the very same map IP when they return back into a game, regardless how long they were kicked out? If that is what you’re talking about, then there are solutions in place for that. Join a party while farming so when you log back in you already have people anchoring the map for you (as long as its not hard capped). Or pull up your map chat history and try to join on someone else that was there.

If that happens to you and the map ends up hard capped, all I can say is that its unfortunate…. but its still a good system, overall. This is not an offline game. When you disconnect there can be no admin address to that particular map when you go off: “All players FREEZE. LadyRhonwyn has disconnected. The map has been locked so none of you can leave, event progress has been halted, and none of your comrades may join until she returns. Thank you for understanding.”

Life goes on.
Open world PvE also goes on.

i see two crowds, one is annoyed by waypoints in general and the other loves them and want more.
then you also have the story of “if you don’t like them, don’t use them” which can be said about mounts too.

i have a simple middle ground, have some really big zones with few waypoints only on really needed places and allow mounts in these areas.
the no waypoint crowd can now get to places where they want and the waypoint lovers can go where they need to go..

and one more thing, if you don’t like mounts, DON’T USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only two groups, huh? I like waypoints but I don’t want more. I’m content with the amount ArenaNet has given me. You won’t catch me crying for more, like a child throwing a tantrum in a candy store. I’m also against the implementation of mounts in GW2 – and I’m tired of explaining why.

Game Updates: Traits

For new skills maybe add a new area and attach them to completion of an event or boss there.

There is so many better ideas than what we got. I have no idea what they were thinking.

Edit: As soon as I hit reply I figured out the answer to my question. They want to charge for stuff you already got for free. Nothing more nothing less.

I’m not happy with the 4/15 update any more than you are, I think. However I do believe a part of their intent was to spread the traits out just about everywhere so it would pull people to those locations. Doing as you suggest, making a new location/event just for the sake of gaining a new trait or skill would only promote another giant blob of people at that new location/event.

Perhaps I’m giving them way too much credit here though… as much of what the did has achieved just that. Some horrible things have been created with good intentions, this is no different.

Game Updates: Traits

Azhure.1857

In a sense the new system is “ok” but what about us with alts that have already beat the game multiple times and have already explored everything and just want to make alts to take to wvw and or dungeons? I think if someone is starting out it’s fine, but forcing us to go through the whole game again and backtrack wasting hours just trying to get a handful of traits is not fun at all it feels like a chore, the system was fine before where you just paid a small amount of gold and that’s it you could play your character, but now you have to spend hours upon hours just to be able to actually use your character in end game content. I feel like the old system should be reimplemented, the prices for the traits are around 40g and a lot of skill points now which only used to cost around 6g which is nuts! Please change this Anet i have two alts just sitting there.

As frustrating as it may be, the gold sink does make sense – As we’re in desperate need of more gold sinks. :/

Its my belief that the people that keep recreating all these ‘GIVE ME MOUNTS NOW’ threads are exactly that, players from other games like WoW that had mounts. They had them elsewhere and now they want them to exist in GW2.

GW2 apparently isn’t supposed to be its own game, but another cookie cutter copy of another game’s template. Example: “Its just not the same without mounts.”

Restrict forum access to active accounts?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I think you have a personal axe to grind, I see no problem with them wanting to allow anyone that has purchased the game and had an active account to continue to post on the forums. Also, as Pixelpumpkin pointed out above, they were unable to log into the game for 2 months due to personal reasons…just what exactly do you see as their attitude towards their customers anyways…other than being accommodating.

My problem was Mark admitting they considered restricting people who had purchased the game but had not been active from participating on the forums. That and the attitude that there was a real issue with attention-seeking individuals pretending to be inactive and that he deemed it worth his time to be labeling players in this way.

The problem is that Guild Wars 2 is advertised as a game where a player can come and go at will because it is subscription free, and as such the forums are a reflection of that. The reason subscription games can restrict access in their forums goes hand in hand with them also restricting the game to those that haven’t kept up with their subscription payments.

As far as Mark’s attitude towards “attention-seeking individuals claiming to have quit but are still quite active”… My feelings are mixed. I’m positive that is a tactic forum posters have used. It can’t really be denied. However I also believe the way he expressed his distaste did more to discredit far more people than just the ones he has labeled as only “attention-seeking”. Was that intentional?

There will always be conflicts between players in any MMORPG. Its just the nature of the beast when you throw so many people together. If you want ArenaNet to redesign this particular encounter to more fully support multiple parties, like asking them to add an auto-reset at the death of FE, then that is reasonable. That would help. But building me up on these forums as some kind of troll, griefer, or villain does your argument no favors. Acting horribly in game will also do you no favors. Cloaks? Again...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I’m confused as to why most of you feel it is the charr alone that hampers the development of a cape or cloak. If we went by GW1 standards of “capes”, then the charr tail would be a non issue as those “capes” were nothing but glorified strips of cloth with a guild logo — ending at the waist.

If a full cloak is what you’re asking for instead — there would be clipping issues all over the board and not just with charr posture and tails. How do you propose stowed weapons lay under or over a cloak effectively across all the races? Or should a full cloak just magically make them vanish when stowed like many helms do for charr horns? What about in motion? In combat? Backpacks?

But sure, go ahead and blame the charr for what good it will do you, I don’t care one way or another. Either ArenaNet will decide to try for it or they won’t. While I have guildmates that would like to see a cape again — It’s no loss off my back if they’re not implemented.

Effort that has been deemed not worth it because more players use human characters above any other race in the game.

Continue to pull up past remarks made by me as if it proves your point, and doesn’t just make you look like a giant kitten . Gotta say I’ve disagreed with people a lot on these forums but I’ve never stooped that low.

I have very little gold. I’ve never gotten a precursor or a legendary, nor do I ever intend to. I’ve never saved enough to craft anything ascended…. In fact the one time I came close to being ready to craft a full set of armor, I instead ended up selling all of my mats so I could contribute to a good cause (guild banning together to get a friend a precursor). I get my “lootz” over the long run. But its not something I’m farming 24/7 to have. It will happen when it happens.

In fact I get some heat from my server WBT activities because I don’t go to this champ or that champ, instead I have more fun going out of my way to have another champ ready for the rest of my guild. Why? Because THAT is how I have fun. I don’t give a kitten if I get a champ bag or not.
