No one can honestly sit back and accept the megaserver as an improvement. If you do, Anet has already won, and will be inspired to continue adding ridiculous updates such this in the near future.

The complaints are steadily slowing down… eventually these “Feedback” threads will stop being bumped and will be buried. People are tired of complaining… ArenaNet has won. They’ve ignored us and their “problem” is slowly going away as a result.

I fear its all they ever intended to do.

2) Sitting at the end of a jumping puzzle on my Mesmer, watching others try so very hard to get where I am, and eventually having to cave and drop a portal because they’re just too adorable.
3) Watching zerglets run straight into boss mechanics that will surely kill them.
4) When those same zerglets, now dead, start wailing for someone to revive them.
5) When other players run in to revive them and get downed as a result.

After seeing Dee Jay’s ‘A few parting words’ topic removed from the forums I can say ‘no’. Plain and simple. Wanna feedback? He had feedbacks, and you did that you always do, ignore it because it needed more work (more work for other areas than the gemstore).

Must agree on that point. The thread was supposedly deleted because it went off topic. So instead of cleaning up the thread, which had good feedback on it, they decided to trash the whole thing entirely.
So two lessons to be learned from that action. 1 – If you don’t like a thread or OP, just derail it as much as you possibly can and ArenaNet will lock/delete it. 2 – ArenaNet only cleans threads that they deem appropriate and favors themselves in a good light.

GW2 Female Armour [Poll]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I’m sure that if we asked the right groups of people, we could get some very viable options for making male characters sexy and also collect good data on body parts of men that appeal to women and men into dudes. Not playing the realism card, just refuting the “impossible” claim against male avatar sexiness and skimpyness.

I’m not saying men can’t be sexy. But while women have dozens of choices to be sexy and skimpy, men don’t have too much.
They have few choices to be sexy, and even fewer to be sexy and skimpy without being borderline “ADULT ONLY”.
But Anet could do a bit sexier pants by making them a bit more low-rise or at least making the character wear the pants more “inclined” (can’t really explain that) instead of straight around the waist.

Personally I disagree with the above belief that apparently only women are “sexy” when showing their bodies and men are not. Actually kittenes me off a bit.

I have always loved armor styles like gladiator armor. Characters in the 300 movies or Spartacus series come to mind.

Spent time crafting in LA today and absolutely NO-ONE spoke in map chat or /say during the 20 mins or so I was there. (It wasn’t the language filter either because as soon as I zoned into Dry Top, I was greeted with a guild recruitment message in German.)

Remember when players would say Hello/Goodbye etc as they logged on/off? And tell jokes, answer questions, share tips, announce mining runs/temple runs, ask for help in wvw or with a world boss?

People are learning to avoid /map and /say now. Its becoming automatic to ignore chat because its usually not the type of conversation people want to engage in, because of MegaTrolldom. We have a game, an MMO even, that is causing players to disconnect from those around them.

Well done, ArenaNet.

Actually, you’re the one inviting it because you admit to not caring what the rest of the map thinks. If you don’t like people getting mad at you, stop doing the things that make people mad in the first place.

Lets be clear here.
NOBODY deserves to be abused in this game. Nobody. You can disagree with someone’s behavior or their actions, you can even be angry, but there is no justification for being abusive.

Suggestion: Removal of Food and Nourishment.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

-Is it really adding to your overall experience?

Yes. The buffs of my desired nourishment(s) round out my build. Runes + sigils + weapon choice + traits + weapon/armor stats + trinkets + nourishment + combat style + skill level = Who I am as a player.

-Does it make things too easy?

What is easy and hard are relative to each person. Personally I don’t feel nourishment, by itself, makes things too easy. I can and do get my kitten handed to me when I have F&N active. F&N is not “god mode” in GW2. The advantages given are no different than say… someone wearing Ascended gear rather than Exotic, or Exotic over Rare.

Where do we draw the line where one advantage is too great and another is just fine? Lets say nourishment gets removed, what then replaces it in your eyes as making things too easy or unfair? Traits? Legendary weapon stats?

-Do I always use it? Why?

No. Because many times I find myself caught without any. The only characters I consistently use them on, without fail, are my low level alts that I’m leveling.

-Do I usually win 1v1 fights against those who don’t use it?

Honestly don’t know. I don’t keep track of what WvW opponents are or aren’t using, or if they even are using any nourishment. I can tell you that I win and lose in WvW 1v1 without nourishment. Can easily say that most times you catch me using nourishment in WvW its because I’m running with a zerg, not roaming, and someone had placed a tray down.

-Do I craft my own for fun? Or just buy it off the TP?

Both.

-Do I offer it to other people when I see them without it? Why?

Guildmates and friends, yes. Why? Because buffing those around me is in my nature. I enjoy running support as often as I can.

I am against this suggestion.

Nourishment is one way we can further customize our characters to our liking. If anything we need more customization options, not less.

With that being said – I want you to know that I agree on one thing. We do need more difficult content. But removing buffs here or there isn’t the way to go about it.

World Boss Proposal

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I don’t really get the complaint. There is a mechanic in place for you to start these boss fights as you see fit, you just need to setup your guild to do so. Lots of people farm a personal guild for storage, find a group and set one up so you spawn world bosses.

Your problem is you want the mechanic in place to be free.

It’s only in place for the 3 bosses I cannot do with 2-20, namely Teq, 3H-Worm, Karka
http://wiki-de.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gilden-Welt-Event

I want this for all the others (Golem, Behe, Swanir Shamane, ….) as well, preferably available to all players (maybe for a small silver-feee), not only to guild officials of large guilds.

But I see. No one likes it (at least no one likes it enough to respond positively).

Before Mega-Server world bosses (outside prime) were fun. You had to do something for your reward.
But since Mega-server? World-bosses degenerated to be just:

  • Ignore the pre, some will do it for you.
  • build a group, to get loot in case you die before you managed to press 1
  • press 1 once,
  • die or not, doesn’t matter,
  • cross-finger you do not get a DC
  • collect loot
  • jump to next boss, WP postet in chat.

This should be stopped! But in fact I don’t care, I am just asking for an alternative to escape this stupidity.

Why are you against it? What do you fear? Do you fear that you fail with this procedure, if all that like it a bit more demanding will do it on their own? Not unlikely when no one will do the Pre for you anymore

Unfortunately the needs of good old fashioned “spawn campers” currently outweighs the demand for improvement in this area of the game. Its a sad and pathetic state — in which the thought of actively PLAYING GW2 is to be considered too onerous. On the reverse side… keeping content that requires no effort beyond waypointing to the next location and tagging another target after an allotted time is to be protected against assault from people such as yourself.

Personally I desire the absolute destruction of the World Boss Schedule, except the Legendary tier of World bosses. To be taken back to a day where the world boss events were truly dynamic events and people pushed them along as such. Before the days of the Megazerg, #1 autotagging, and the total indifference towards helping your fellow players.

End-Game Content (Time Gap)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Its been “filler recycled content” basically uninteresting, hence the reason for massive player decline due to other games being released. I’ve been an avid player since pre-launch and the last 3.5 to 4months there has been easily a 35-40% decline in players.

Source for this info? because according to anet they are ridding the prosperity wave right now with an incredible player base after only being out for one year.

ArenaNet would never admit to a rapidly declining playerbase, whether it be true or false wouldn’t matter. Its not really something a company would want to be known. At this moment, yes, I’m sure their playerbase has increased. Why? China.

But from my experience in game. Looking at all of my guild rosters, friend/follower lists, and talking with others about their own observations – it is pretty clear that people have been dropping off.

Game Updates: World Boss Synchronization

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I still hate the world boss schedule. It supports nothing but a massive mob of people primarily spamming 1 and getting rewarded for it. Even if there is an event that must be done before a boss starts, most people just stand around and wait for others to do it for them. So laziness is rewarded too. Great.

Its understandable why they introduced a timer schedule on World Bosses – because there just weren’t that many people to do them all right? But now we have a megaserver system and there are just TOO MANY people running about.

Why not return to them all being Dynamic Events? It would spread people out across the maps to do various bosses as they see fit. Want to do Karka? Go to Southsun and start pushing pre-events. Want to do Modnir? Go to Hirathi and start pushing pre-events. There would be enough people on the maps to push – especially if there were no longer a MegaZerg train to follow.

This would also solve the issue of people not being able to do certain bosses anymore because of their own life schedules. Would also make it easier to get guilds/friends/servers on the same maps together.

EDIT: Just read the update notes. This should make it better.
2nd EDIT: Nope. Still a crappy system.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

If you infuse one of the rings, you can wear them both then.

^^^^^ This.

Also the description does say “Unique” which would essentially imply that you can’t wear multiples, however, that isn’t explained anywhere, so I could see how someone wouldn’t notice that or if they did not really know what it means.

But there’s a work-around like TheDaiBish said, so no worries OP.

The “work-around” you speak of only works if you know about it beforehand. I’ll say that I did not and infused both rings, both the same defensive ring, and THEN learned what “unique” meant in GW2. It was a painful learning experience. One that could have been easily avoided.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is giving a good reason for NOT adding a more clear warning on unique trinkets.

Just wanted to say how much I agree with this statement above. I’m still catching up on this thread as I’ve not been on the forums that much of late, nor have I been in game for 2 months now, I will likely stop posting on these forums eventually as I’ve lost almost all hope that this game will ever return to the game I loved.

I tip my hat to you, munkiman. While your entire post was great, this one sentence was the strongest for me. I’m sure Vayne probably already threw your words out and disagreed, saying something to the point of “but there are more people so you’re wrong”…. But I know the truth of it.

Quality over quantity of players. Period.

Are there more people in any given map? Yes. But its the same as someone shoving 150 cats into the back of a truck and saying that they are better for it.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

i recently made a list of content that has stayed.
It is quite a lot.
Most of it is of course polishing and QOL stuff, but hey. they changed the feeling of the game significantly in my opinion.
(Starting from the queens jubilee, till now)
(Excuse the weird formating, i just copy and pasted it from my document)

General Changes
- Magic find changes (accountbound stat now) and its new mechanics
- Critical damage change into ferocity

o Has its own unique mechanics and rewards (hardest boss in game right now)
- Worldbosses got a reward overhaul as well as a timer to make them more challenging
- There is a new path in the Twilight Arbor Dungeon, themed around the living story season 1 for lvl 80 characters
o Twilight Arbor got unique skin drops
- Fractals got an upgrade
o Three new Fractals
Molten Alliance
Aetherblades
Thaumanova Reactor
o Two new Boss Fractals
Molten Berserker
Mai Trin
o Bosses appear after every run
o Fractallvl is now accountwide
o Starting at lvl 31 you get punished with an handicap called Mistlock
o Rework of Agony
o Reward reworked
- The Living Story Season 1 has concluded, leaving in its wake:
o The destruction of Lions Arch
All LA unique facilities have been moved to vigil keep
o Kessex Hills got redesigned after they introduced the tower of nightmares, which was a giant construction in the lake

o You have the ability to party up with other servers people to finish the puzzle
- A new Map was introduced called “Edge of the Mists”
o It is always available, even if all other WvW maps are full
o It resets every two hours
o Has unique objectives
o Teammembers are based on the color they represent in WvW right now and not on server
o WvW rank is now acountbound

PvP
- Glory and armor rewards have been removed in favour of a new system
- Costs for Ranks have been adjusted
- A Complete new rewardsystem which allows for gold and items of PvE
- New Arenatype: Duell

- A new Healskill for every class
- The Traitsystem got a complete overhaul
o Every class got 5 new grandmaster traits
o Some traits get only unlocked after you explored the world in PvE
- Critical Damage has been removed and got exchanged for a new stat: “Ferocity”

Gemstore
- A few UI Improvements
- New Hairtypes in the stylingkit
- You can now buy unlimited finisher to punish your enemies
- New Booster
- New Armors in the shop

Nope, nothing permanently changed to the game… just these minor things…

I will not argue that work hasn’t been done to GW2. However the majority of what I see in your overlong list is polish, not content. There is a difference. Even Anet labeled its latest “Feature Pack” as polish, not content.

Unacceptable...

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Its a bug. — Therefor its temporary. — Totally acceptable.

No, it’s not.

They delayed this update a week and still pushed it out wayyyyyyy too early. Rushing updates is just dumb.

If it wasn’t enough time to at least test to make sure something as basic as chat bubbles/down state not being green, random male charr noises coming from my human female character, and the plethora of other problems released this patch then it’s pretty obvious they’re understaffed. Tequatl is no exception to this and OP has every reason to be uptight about it.

Just about every patch I can remember downloading has resulted in bugs. It is not surprising that a large patch would have more than average. Am I thrilled that it took me a long time to finish loading my game client the second time? No. Do I enjoy having to go invisible and back again just to gain access to my guild chat? No. Do I like the green text and green downed meter? No. (Though I think that is a stab at St. Patrick’s day.) Was it nice that even my bug report window was bugged? No. Was I having a good time experiencing many other bugs through the night and/or hearing about them? No.

But I accept it because they’re bugs. They happen. They’re not the end of the world, or the game.

So yes, it is acceptable.
Throwing a hissy fit and saying it isn’t? You all can do better. This will pass.

the zergs are now so big, by the time I get to the group-event or world-boss, 50% of the time it’s already over and done.

Yes, they need to improve scaling AND make world bosses more difficult in general. They should be zerg busting level bosses.

But its not just poor scaling. Having 70+ people standing in close proximity all pressing 1 and winning is… Disgusting. Granted this is a MMORPG. But the RPG portion of the game seems to be overcome by the Clusterkitten that is Megaservers.

I’ve been logging in less and less. Nor am I a regular attendee to guild/server events that I used to be proud of before the 4/15 Feature Pack.

Azhure.1857

Yes it’s your right to open it anytime you have a charged key but without announcing that it’s opening now for all and keeping it to yourself is, well selfish in a game where co-op play is the underlying theme in PvE.

So if you are going to open it, declare in map chat that you are doing it and all are invited and do it before the pre-event starts because some players do those events and not just stand around waiting for FE to spawn taking pot shots at any thing that happens to come close during the pre-events.

We do warn in map chat, as I’ve already said. We don’t open it during escort either, only during the time when everyone is standing around 5min before the actual spawn and please don’t say that they’re all actually doing something in there. Also Ogre melts so incredibly fast that we destroy it and are back to the FE chamber within the same minute. There is no risk of failure.

Bottom line is that I’m in this game to help my friends and my guild. I don’t have to warn in map chat but I do because it is the nice thing to do. With that said… I’m not here to serve the masses just “because its tradition”.

If you can get rewards in the game then why would you spend $100 a month in the gem store?

Anet has nerfed every farming idea/location ever found in this game without fail.

^ This.
They already started to nerf down to the ground anything profitable to farm.
They nerfed the crit damage, resulting in less damage overall, which means more time to finish dungeons => gold from dungeons rewards now flows into the economy slower.

How Do We Report Guild Puzzle Trolling?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

It has nothing to do with being in a public area versus instanced area. Griefing is not “wrong” in a dungeon and “okay” in the open map. Furthermore, Vayne is not talking about preventing others from entering the guild puzzle, trying to play it themselves, or “controlling” the actions of others. He’s talking about disgruntled former guild members coming in and very specifically — and purposely — trying to sabotage their guild puzzle. This is called griefing, and should not be tolerated in the game.

I’m not usually one that calls for harsh measures against “griefing”, primarily because its so easy for people to call someone a griefer in this game because of differing play-styles and/or priorities. However in this case – their intentions are very clear. I would take screenshots and file a ticket on them.

There is a large difference between a griefer that is annoying people versus a griefer that is actually breaking a part of the game for people.

One time I was literally the only person doing the pre-events for Shadow Behemoth. I did the one at Phiney and the one at the monastery before heading over to the one at Tamin Foothills. There was one person at Tamin Foothills as I got there, but he died as I ran up to him and waypointed (and never came back) before I could get him up. No one else was there (or had been at the other ones). So, instead of immediately finishing, I just chose to kite the mobs around for a few minutes. Finally, the lone commander (who had been standing where the zerg is for quite some time) asked why SB hadn’t spawned yet. About a minute later, another person showed up at Tamin, and then I finished the pre with said person.

I tip my hat to you.

An Appeal for Better Policies

Low levels overly extended: Let’s face it, the game truly starts at level 80.

…and that is where you lost me. Sorry but I whole-heartedly disagree.

Once I hit 80 with a toon I know I’ve hit endgame. Which means I’ve hit the content free peak that is GW2, where the majority of us just farm in hopes of having a good stockpile when new content is actually released. That is not a start to a game. Well… not my game.

WvW isn’t really an option for me anymore either as it seems to be dying too.

I have been playing more on my lower, “overly extended”, level toons far more than I have my 80s for a long while now.

What race do you want playable?

Dwarves are dead (turned to stone – meaning no longer dwarves – see EotN in GW1) – only one left alive (Ogden Stonehammer). All the Stone Summit are deakitten

he only one that is amused when people make statements like this?

Its perfectly acceptable in a fantasy MMORPG for dwarves to be turned to stone but it is then impossible for that to change? Interesting.

EDIT: No matter how many times I edit it correctly, its not fixing the error.

IF you played EotN – from WIKI.

" With the Stone Summit’s defeat, the Dwarves unearthed the Tome of Rubicon and a prophecy foretelling their race’s doom was discovered. This prophecy saw itself fulfilled in 1078 AE when the Destroyers began to rise from the Depths of Tyria, led by the Great Dwarf’s ancient foe, the Great Destroyer.

In order to combat the threat, Jalis Ironhammer and several Dwarves moved to the Far Shiverpeaks and performed the Rite of the Great Dwarf. Through the rite, the Dwarves were transformed into stone and had their minds linked, becoming the Great Dwarf as a collective consciousness. The Dwarves fulfilled the prophecy of the Great Dwarf destroying his old nemesis when they had defeated the Destroyer threat after undergoing the rite.1

After the war against the Great Destroyer, Duncan the Black, the new leader of the Stone Summit, attempted to harness the power of the recently slain Great Destroyer’s soul, but was killed before his plan could succeed.

Eventually, all Dwarves undertook the Rite of the Great Dwarf.2"

So the Dwarfs are no longer Dwarfs but like the Skritt, a collective conscious. That is why they will not be playable.

Yes, I did play Guild Wars. Yes, I played EotN. Thank you for laying out the lore for dwarves in the GW universe.

However my point is that nothing is set in stone in fiction and fantasy.
Pun intended.

We don’t need new servers.
We don’t need players only ever aiming to get in the top 3 servers.
What we do need are players willing to join all the remaining servers.
…..sadly I don’t see that happening.

Best and Worst of GW2 -- An Opinion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

BEST

  • Community (before 4/15/2014)
  • Graphics
  • WvW concept
  • Crafting disciplines
  • Black Lion Trading Company
  • Dynamic Event concept
  • Living Story
  • Music
  • Dye System
  • Wardrobe System
  • Subscription Free

WORST

  • Community (after 4/15/2014)
  • Dev/ArenaNet Communication
  • Gameplay/Combat mechanics
  • Lack of WvW improvement
  • Excessive use of Gem shop
  • Legendary Weapons: The Joke of Rarity and Prestige
  • Zerg warfare in WvW and PvE
  • “DPS or Bust” mentality
  • Boss Timer Schedule
  • Failure to hold true to Manifesto
  • Tyria largely unexplored after nearly 2 years
  • Lack of new weapons – skills

This is my personal list, people, it is not an attack on anyone else’s opinions. We are all different with differing viewpoints. When you get right down to it…. Life would be very boring if we all agreed on everything.

Take care, people, and have fun.

Profession most broken and least played?

I don’t know if “most broken” and “least played” go hand in hand here.
But if I had to guess which class was least played I’d say Engineer.

I think people who play other genders are creeps (unless it’s a game where you have no choice. Then it’s fine. Or if you get some bonus out of it like in Fire Emblem)

It’s rather hard to take you serious, what kind of ignorant remark is that?

Please don’t derail this thread.

Actually, I do “believe”. So please don’t speak for me. The frustration many of us feel is in how long it takes for them to release content, not that they don’t release any at all.

Patience is a virtue. ArenaNet is testing many people.

Feedback/Questions: MegaServer

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Even with a large amount of disappointed players, the reception to the megaserver has been pretty darn positive, so I wouldn’t imagine it being in danger of being “abandoned” if players had the choice not to play on it.

Though I can’t agree with you on the “positive” reception part – I do believe that offering the choice of being in a megaserver or home server map would be a great source of direct feedback for them. It would include those that are on the forums and still playing AND those that don’t post on the forums. Just how many would choose a home server map over a megaserver map? Or vice versa?

Is ArenaNet brave enough to find out?

The only thing that would have made it a perfect source of feedback, in my opinion, is if they had offered the choice on 4/15/2014 when they first rolled out the new system. Why? Because it would have included all the players at that time… Not just the ones that are left now, 3 months later.

Can GW2 be saved?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Only ANet can save this game. But they need to listen to us to do that.

What group of ‘us’ should they listen to? After all, the entire community will never agree on what is the best way to address an issue.

True that.
Compromising fixes and/or content is preferred. Like when they introduced the Bobblehead Laboratory. Good for those that like it and doesn’t harm those that don’t.

For other topics its usually good to go with the majority. Problem is that many issues have multiple sides, not just black and white. Also hard to tell what the majority truly is because not everyone voices themselves here.
