Since the megaservers went live, the community I was part of has died. My friends list now has hardly anyone online anymore, and my guild use to have consistently during the evening, 90-100 people online. That’s now dropped to 20-30 people.
I’ve just lost the will to log in these days, the final nail in the coffin is the strict world boss times. The loss of the dynamic nature of the world boss popping up randomly killed the game for me, that was the one thing I really loved doing in this game.
Right there with you Xaal. +1
First off – players are allowed to play how they wish to in this game, regardless if you disagree with them. If that is a problem for you or anyone else, perhaps a single player or co-op game would be better for you.
Secondly I foresee this thread going down the negative nancy toilet extremely fast – just like the last TVH thread did. What happened to that thread? After deleting over half of the posts, they then decided to just trash the entire thread.
Playing how you want doesn’t give you the right to ruin other peoples in-game experience. Also if he wanted to use that gear he would be better off in the main zerg anyway. I don’t care for the people who force their play styles that can potentially ruin my fun. If that makes me an elitist, so be it.
Yes, that does make you an elitist.
This….. “Playing how you want doesn’t give you the right to ruin other peoples in-game experience.” And this…. “I don’t care for the people who force their play styles that can potentially ruin my fun.” ….. They make you hypocrite.

Why not suggest pay-gating the forums to those who spend so much in gems per month?
Yeah, that’s just about as good an idea.
You do realize the largest brunt of criticism comes from ACTIVE players. The very extremely few that claim to have quit, being blocked, would hardly even be a drop in the complaint bucket.
Gods no… You gave them an idea. cries
so when other people see the name dragonhunter on a toon, they are going to do what? is it going to cause them to go into convulsions?
Full on convulsions? No.
Fair amount of snickering? Yes.
4038 hours, got a pre in the forge. Dawn, even though I dont use greatswords really.
You will now.
Just like the thousands of others that have it.
It will be your only weapon.
Not if he/she doesn’t wish it to be. I recently finished a legendary weapon and I’m already at the point of not caring. It just doesn’t impress me.
@ Azure
Gratz on your first precursor. Whether you use it or not, I know its exciting just to finally get that much.
ooooh noooooooooooooooooooooo i fear that this is a forum topic which is legitimately and without cynicism encouraging anet to not only recycle content, but also CHARGE for recycled content
oh no it really is a forum post doing all of this
oh my god my eyes are bleeding ohhhhhhhh noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
When Anet released the bobble heads as their 4-1 prank, there were people that came on here and blatantly told them “we like this. we want to make this something permanent in the game. we’d be willing to buy it. please give it to us.” The flip side of the coin was that there were probably equally many that did not like it. Anet listened to both. This is now a part of the game as something you can purchase, and only those that enjoy it can partake of it.
And yet you kitten because Anet is listening to what their customers are asking them for….
+1,000 …. if it were possible. I’m so pleased that ArenaNet was able to listen to its playerbase and respond with a very good compromise.
Wow a response after 5 posts, yet none in Megaserver or Trait threads with thousands. Maybe you forgot about us too? Is the China player base dealt the same wonderful PR?
And this is the reason they dont post.. Because whenever they do, entitled kittens start kittening
If they were communicating with their playerbase on topics that are causing issues, like the various Feature Pack Feedback threads, I wouldn’t mind them responding in threads such as this one. But they aren’t doing that. If its not a support ticket for problems like lag, login errors, or gem purchases – odds are you’re not getting a Dev response. Then there are the occasional threads like this one, over a potential windfall gemstore item idea. When they take priority over responding to a concerned playerbase that has posted THOUSANDS of posts over things that many view to be game-breaking for them – Then we have a problem.
Unfortunately its a “problem” that ArenaNet isn’t addressing enough to satisfy its customers. So to reiterate… When a company is more interested in addressing a gemstore item such as the one the OP suggested, admittedly a good suggestion, rather than trying to alleviate the outcry over the 4/15 Feature Pack – The impression is given that they don’t care.
Blame can’t be placed on any forum poster for the actions of ArenaNet, or lack of action. We’re the customers. We are entitled as customers. ArenaNet Dev’s will not whimper and break if harsh words are expressed in their general direction. They’re not that fragile.
If they responded to the important topics…
Sure, there would still be negative feedback. Unfortunately its extremely difficult to please everyone on every issue. However if they did decide to take the time to show that they give a kitten – I guarantee you there would be positive responses and gratitude directed towards whomever took the time to grace us with 2 minutes of their day.
Heh, good or bad writing isn’t in the “what” but the “how.”
If the dwarves come back by some off-screen machination, it would feel cheap. If the dwarves came back via a player-included Living Story that spanned months of effort, leading to an epic final battle… I could accept that.
But then there’d be dwarves. Boring, short dwarves. We already have boring, tall dwarves. We call them Norn. =P
I would accept that too.
Also, on the point of Dwarves being a poor choice because they are considered “overdone”. – I’ll take your overdone Dwarf race and raise it with the Human race. Hell…. I’ll go all in with the original concept of Dragons and/or an Undead army for enemies.
I like the idea. (Even with all the anti-dueling people around.)
Personally I think it would be nice if each city had its own unique attraction.
Black Citadel – Dueling (they already have a fighting pit in place with stadium seating)
Rata Sum – Polymock
Lion’s Arch – Moa Racing
Hoelbrak – Brass Knuckle Tournament (A combo of Dwarven boxing and the old Norn Fighting Tournament.)
The Grove – Glider Races (The potential is there as its a somewhat vertical map in itself.)
Divinity’s Reach – Queen’s Gauntlet
Just an idea. Give each city something to pull the masses in to either engage in, gamble on, and/or spectate.
Please keep this thread clean folks. Offer your criticism for or against the name and focus your discussion there. Don’t let one or two posters derail the thread by responding to them in kind.
Back on topic:
I just find this specialization name cheap and unfitting for a Guardian. Many posters have given pretty detailed explanations covering just that.
I represent my current guild 100% because I love the people there and I don’t feel the need to split my time among others. However I am so strongly opposed to the idea of a 100% rep requirement that I’ve already informed my guild leader in the past that I would leave our guild the moment she ever decided to implement and enforce such a thing.
Personally I believe a great guild should motivate and encourage its players to represent in their roster… not DEMAND it.
I support this idea.
I enjoy underwater combat.
Is there room improvement? Certainly. But its still enjoyable in its own way.
Myself and others use our commander tags when we’re keeping our guild and/or server together.
Easy solution there, Guild Member tags. Make those free upon joining a guild and only other members of the same guild can see the tag.
I’ll say it again.
Myself and others use our commander tags when we’re keeping our guild and/or server together.
“You have been posting for 3 hours. Please go play in traffic.”
But…
But…
….FINE. * walks away from computer *
I think its safe to say that no game, past and present, has “only two mistakes”. Especially if we’re to go by individual perceptions of what is right or wrong within any given game.
I’ve asked a couple of times in this thread, but no one has yet explained any connection between rainbows/unicorns/flowers and gender.
The only connection is the one we make for ourselves.
Had the OP not made this a gender issue and instead just asked for more serious bow skins, I would have supported it.
The issue is on your end, not Anet’s.
While I don’t like the zerg fest at World Bosses — I also have a guild that runs a WBT every night. We hit roughly 20 bosses a night. It would be increasingly difficult to get them all taxied into the same map shard if this idea were implemented.
(edited by Azhure.1857)
Its a fact that many people say they want Kodans to be playable. However I have to ask – how exactly would you make them customizable from one character to the next? They’re all the same….
Kotaku is now reporting that Anet is planning to change in response to the outcry:
http://kotaku.com/guild-wars-2-players-angry-over-currency-exchange-chang-1649519173
Update: ArenaNet has responded with plans to update the Currency Exchange so players can use it as they wish. They offered the following statement:
“It’s clear that quite a lot of you would like to have greater flexibility in using the Currency Exchange. Our intention when we designed the new interface was to streamline large volume purchases, which make up the majority of transactions.
In light of your feedback, we will update the Currency Exchange so that you can decide how you want to use it. We will keep the new streamlined system and also offer a new “Custom” button on the panel that you can use to exchange any increment of gems or gold.
We anticipate rolling this out soon. Stay tuned!"
Well that would be good news. Thank you for sharing.
I apologize ahead of time but I just couldn’t help myself in this case.
Was passing through LA when I spotted two “Workers”… working. * snort *
Then realized it was a decent representation of ArenaNet.
I love Guild Wars just as much as anyone but I do not believe that ArenaNet has any obligation to maintain the game.
I know this is sorta off topic but I had to add it. Its not just personal story where odd encounters are happening, like what has been stated above. Earlier today I was in Brisban and decided to join in on one of those Toxic Offshoot events where you protect the siege engineers. Funny thing was… I never had to defend a kitten thing. Seriously. I sat and watched, even held a one sided conversation with one of the siege engineer NPCs, while we watched the toxic enemies getting their kitten handed to them by jungle wurms.
That’s right, I was cheering for jungle wurms and they beat the event on their own. Jungle wurms make for OP allies? Was pretty pathetic.

The better solution is to either shorten the timer down to 5 or fewer minutes or reset the timer to doable when Fire Ele is defeated. This will allow both trains to keep going without losing any stops.
Agreed.
Warrior……..
I’m sure the Devs have their reasons. Only they can tell us what those reasons are, all we can do is speculate.
For me, regardless of the reasons, I can’t accept their lack of communication and poor client relations. No reason justifies going this long without word to your customers. If they were to come out and say that talking to us about what they’re working on, whether our concerns are being addressed, would then cause the sky to fall and the world to explode…. I would say that I choose to play in a fantasy world – I don’t live in one.
I don’t see where an argument is popping up here. Why can’t we all just agree that putting a little more information or warning on “unique” ascended trinkets is a good idea?
Instead we have people coming on this thread just to say “you should have known better”. How very constructive.
So in short, keep us in touch.
Wishful thinking at this point.
It’s exploiting the map and the people and I don’t think chest farming or taxi’ing should be allowed to still work.
You want the taxi system abolished too? * long suffering sigh *
Its things like this that make me truly wonder if people think, if only for a moment, about what kind of consequences would be created if their suggestions were taken seriously and implemented.
o.o
….. and this would be the very first gem finisher I would buy. I wants! I wants! Gimme!!!
Awesome suggestion, Varkros.
New fur patterns and horns for charrs. Would also like the ability to use all hair colors on the fur patterns (though I doubt that will happen because we’ll likely see blue and pink furries running around everywhere..).
One of my favorite bosses is a simple Champ Abomination. I love watching it charge through a crowd, usually downing a dozen or more people. It makes me smile every time and actually keeps me on my toes. I also can’t help but cheer for the champion in a way, because its main victims are those players that are so set in a “melee or bust” mentality. The argument has been made that melee is just better because ranged can’t compare on a DPS level. Well neither does standing in front of a charging rhino on steroids, getting downed, and throwing dirt at said rhino.
There are good melee players and there are bad melee players, meanwhile the guy being smug at the fact people are getting downed whilst he pew pews away at x000 range, well there is not alot you can say in terms of positives about that really.
Yup, you’re right. Nor is there much, in terms of positives, to say about people that make derogatory comments based on something another person didn’t actually say.
But you’re right – I am “smug” in those situations. In a game that supports passive, “no brains needed beyond this point” gameplay… Yeah. I’m going to cheer for the 1%-2% of the bits of this game that actually challenge that system, that meta.
I just don’t understand the complaint…..I have never, ever, in 17 level 80s, thought “OMG this needs to be removed”…ever….
Same here.
Is it bad that I don’t want a bunch of naked people streaking everywhere?
This is not an effective way to give feedback.
And what would be a suitable way ?
Constructive feedback and without hostility. Your opening post leaves a lot to be desired.
Guys… Could we please not start another thread on the same subject? Please? There are too many already and its tiresome to keep track of them all.
you could always make bloodstone bricks, dragonite ingots, and empyreal stars. Each one uses 2 obbi shards. That will cut down on what you have and these might have another use in the future.
That’s what I do. It’s why I actually have very few shards at any given time. >_>
But something tells me the OP isn’t necessarily interested in recipes and/or refinement. I think he/she desires even more straight Gold per hour for their Silverwastes efforts. I could very well be wrong in that assumption — but I don’t think I am.
A commander leading a world boss train wasn’t any better than you think the current system is.
There were and still are great commanders that people flock to daily for a great WBT experience. Supported by a team of scouts, preppers, and anchors — It is a much more enjoyable experience than following the Megazerg WBT and its also much more profitable.
So please don’t say that it wasn’t any better — because it was. I’m just going to chalk it up to you being inexperienced in the matter… which is unfortunate for you.
Personally I like the new trait system. Hunting/questing for traits is enjoyable, especially when I get a trait by accident (those are the best).
However the one glaring flaw in this system is requiring a lvl 30 trait be found in a much higher level zone. If they just took the time to rework the difficulty and locations of these traits, it would be a good system.
I miss DoA, UW, and FoW. It would be nice to see them return in GW2, somehow.
Aside from roleplay reasons, why do you want to play with a ranged weapon ?
I’m honestly asking this question. And I don’t want to hear bullkitten like “because it’s what is told in the description” or “well I don’t. But if I did …”
The real reason. It can be anything, but I’m really interested in it.Personal preference of combat style. Just like in any game players like the freedom to choose what they like and not be considered inferior for it. In fighting games some players like Grapplers, some like Rushdown fighters and some like Zoners, yet all of those playstyles are considered valid. Here we have a single playstyle that’s considered valid and a multitude that work but server no practical purpose in PvE.
This is a game that is supposed to promote creativity and personal preference in it’s combat. Is it right for over half the game’s combat options to be so weak they’re considered by some unviable?Personal preference falls under role play.
Ah.
Right.
I must have missed the fine print on the game packaging when I purchased this game. This game is only meant for players who enjoy being Meta pawns. Do not purchase if you choose to play how you want in “Open World” content. Again, this game isn’t actually for you – its for meta players only. All others get the kitten out.
’Cause you know some of those fine print lines are just so well hidden.
Would a moderator please close this thread?
The Hidden City of Ahdashim.
But that would require access to Elona…. so …. yeah…. I’ll keep dreaming.
It’s no coincidence that pretty much every gold-making farm in the game has been nerfed.
I’ve gone from making 15g/h to nothing.
One could say if you’re making “nothing”, 0g/h, then you’ve given up. Taking a hit in the amount of gold you get an hour isn’t the end of the world. I imagine if I made that much gold regularly I may feel differently about this – but a 15g/h farm sounds like it needs a nerf.
An excess of gold in the market is damaging. Inflation is a kitten.
2) To balance/normalize travel speed between classes. It´s unfair a warrior can easily stack 1 minute of speed boost while other classes can’t.
Yes, its totally unfair that the classes aren’t all alike and can’t do everything equally. It’s just horrible. Horrible.
Only trust the trustworthy.
Even if it wasn’t them, they got their account stolen – Either buy contacting the gold sellers in some way and/or not adequately securing their password/email.
Outfits are selling, regardless of any opposition to their continued creation. That is why they will continue to invest time in designing even more.
As a member of a guild/server group that actively does WBT in the evenings, I can tell you why my group does it before FE. We prefer to spend available time killing champions whenever possible, not standing around cleaning our weapons for 5 minutes before FE spawns. Saving it for after FE is an additional waste of time, in our eyes, because it prevents us from running to the next champ or sending “preppers” out to other world bosses that are still off the schedule.
I can not speak for all people, all groups – but mine does give a 2 minute warning that we’re opening the Steam Ogre. We warn every 15-30 seconds in /map and /say chat. We’re not trying to grief anyone.
I’ve not been involved in WBT in a couple weeks now as I can no longer stand the current state of the game. However I had to respond in defense of my friends on this topic.
I’m sure there are griefers, OP. They always find a way. But please don’t accuse everyone that chooses to play differently than you as being a griefer.
Have a good day.
