new Nomad gear at world boss events

First off – players are allowed to play how they wish to in this game, regardless if you disagree with them. If that is a problem for you or anyone else, perhaps a single player or co-op game would be better for you.

Secondly I foresee this thread going down the negative nancy toilet extremely fast – just like the last TVH thread did. What happened to that thread? After deleting over half of the posts, they then decided to just trash the entire thread.

Suggestion: remove underwater combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I enjoy underwater combat from time to time. There is a long list of things that ArenaNet is working on currently and many more things that they’ve put on the back burner. Who is to say that underwater combat won’t play a larger role in the future? That when it does they won’t give us options to earn and/or craft better aqua breathers?

If underwater combat were removed then we would either have no ability to swim or we could swim through large sections without any enemy engagement whatsoever? No thank you.

Learn how to fight underwater or gtfo.

Always amuses me when I see people defend ArenaNet for only wanting to make money, because they’re a business and that’s what a business is expected to do in order to survive. Funny thing is, people, that its not the only thing they’re expected to do.

As a business owner I can tell you that if it were all just about me counting the $ as it gets thrown at me, well then just about EVERYONE would be a business owner. So why is it that everyone isn’t? Product and/or services must be kept in good standing AND you must have great customer relations.

So please forgive me if I do point out when they make a cheap money grab and call them out on it, as they are severely lacking in their required business obligations. If they continue to stay afloat despite it all, so be it, either way I’m not going to remain quiet.

Steam Ogre

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Event: Defeat the misplaced Steam Ogre
Location: Thaumanova Reactor in Metrica Province
Prerequisite: Matrix Cube Key (fully charged)
Cooldown: 20 minutes

Okay, there is something I have to say concerning this event. After putting the effort into finding these keys and charging them, I can open the ogre chamber whenever its available to me. I don’t have to wait until after Fire Elemental (WBT) before I open it. After hearing people scream at me, send me hate mail, try to get me reported for trolling and/or griefing… I find it increasingly difficult to continue being nice about it.

Let me clarify a bit on what is happening.

My guild runs a WBT every night (except holidays and patch days) and when we call everyone over to FE — we usually like to do Steam Ogre beforehand. Why? Two main reasons: 1) Actively doing something is better than standing around in the FE chamber waiting for it to spawn and 2) Normally we have other places to be. Remember that outside of the horrible World Boss Schedule there are Temples and other T2 world bosses that aren’t on a schedule. We have scouts and preppers out calling them when available. So when we’re at FE we normally do Ogre>FE>T2/Temple>Shatterer (roughly).

Where is the conflict? When we are in the process of pulling all of our guild members onto the same map shard we warn in Map chat that we’re opening Ogre before FE. Usually the 3 minute mark. Unfortunately the amount of hate we’re getting for it is starting to wear on me. I don’t have to warn in map chat – please remember that – but I do because it is the considerate thing to do. We’re perfectly capable of opening the chamber without saying a word. But, again, the hate is starting to wear on me.

For any of you reading this that have sent me hateful messages and the like:

  • Reporting me will do nothing because I’m not doing anything wrong or worthy of a report.
  • Blocking me doesn’t bother me but may cause you to miss a future Ogre call out.
  • Outwardly expressing your anger at me may end up causing me to report you, depending on the vulgarity used.

So to everyone reading this…
Please pay attention to map chat and be kind to those around you.

Charr Posture???

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Ummm…what? Do you understand how mammalian anatomy works?

The hunched posture is necessary for a species that both runs on all fours and bipedally. Their bipedal stance allows them to manipulate tools and everything else, but their skull can’t mount on the neck in two different manners (for bipedal and quadrupedal stances). If you don’t believe me, lower yourself onto all fours and look straight ahead or even up. While moving. You will probably hurt yourself. This is why the charr spine inserts into the skull at the back instead of the bottom like with humans. Because it inserts in this manner, their bipedal stance needs to accommodate it, hence the hunched posture.

If anything, the charr posture makes them much more beastial than any other “beast” race in a game.

+1
Well said.
I like the charr just the way they are. Sadly there will always be those players that just want a human model covered in fur, with a tail, and cat ears. Meh.

Female human greatsword holding stance

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Yup, it looks weak.
Not surprised they went with it though, because it is still normal to view females as weaker than males. From a pure physical standpoint, we are weaker. However if a woman were to make a career in a very physical profession – it would be safe to assume that they’d develop the necessary muscle mass and endurance to excel. Strangely, even in a fantasy world like GW2, when a female character is in a soldier class (Warrior/Guardian) – they can only just keep the blade from dragging behind them.

Do I like it? Nope.
Do I expect ArenaNet to fix it? Nope.
Why? Because its trivial compared to so many other things that need to be addressed.

Still I thank the OP for bringing the subject up.

[Suggestion] Disease

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Condition. While suffering from this ailment, you lose Health over time. Disease is contagious between creatures of the same kind. – Guild Wars Wiki

Proposal: Bring Disease to Guild Wars 2

PROS:

  • Promotes active gameplay
  • Zerg busting
  • Supports racial diversity

CONS:

  • Potential for racial discrimination in LFG
  • Enemy mob AI incapable of combating a Disease mechanic. (Don’t know if this would be as great of an issue as I fear it could be. Enemy mob AI, with all their faults, aren’t nearly as bad at stacking on top of eachother as we are.)
  • Toy for griefers

In Guild Wars, Disease was 33% stronger than Bleeding. So if we kept to that, not necessarily saying we should, the equation for Disease in GW2 would be something like this…

(0.05*Condition Damage) + (0.5*Level) + 2.5 * 1.333 per stack per second
(0.05*Condition Damage) + 42.5 * 1.333 per stack per second at Level 80

What do you all think?

2. I loved the atmosphere on my home server that I chose, and that atmosphere is now gone. I went from a friendly, somewhat quiet server, to a map chat that is absolutely rampant with sexism, racism, homophobia, and further excessive trolling that is borderline insufferable. I realize that I can block and report these things, and I do. I am not complaining that people are behaving inappropriately; rather that the entire cultural environment in which I enjoyed playing the game has gone to waste

I agree.

There are so many more things that I dislike/hate about the megaserver update… but at this point I don’t think it matters if I post them. Many have already stated them and Anet hasn’t cared enough to respond to any of it.

It really seems as though ANet has done everything they can to make sure people can’t play with who they want to play with.

That seems to be an unfair statement.

You have to understand that with a map filled with 75+ people – Each player has a list of friends, party members, server-mates, and guild-mates that either want to get in or the system feels as though they should be together. So out of those 75+ people who gets priority treatment before the map gets capped? You? Why?

Having a queue system alone is not the only fix needed here. I personally don’t want to just sit around waiting on a queue. Would prefer a district system.

D1 – Home server

D3 – Megaserver 2 (map population is XX%)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Azhure.1857

I don’t see where an argument is popping up here. Why can’t we all just agree that putting a little more information or warning on “unique” ascended trinkets is a good idea?

Instead we have people coming on this thread just to say “you should have known better”. How very constructive.

Mostly because if people fail to read the section in the item description regarding RESTRICTIONS when it simply says “unique,” they are just as likely to fail to read an expanded information line.

You have to know that is BS.

I was a victim of this myself. I saw “unique” but was totally unaware that a character could only equip one, though could buy two. Just because you and others understood it, doesn’t mean everyone does – as this thread shows.

Again having ArenaNet put a more clear warning on these items does not negatively effect you or others. Its not taking anything away from the game. Its just adding clarification to an item. You and others are just finding enjoyment from kittening at people on this thread…. for what?

Why is there no locking mechanic on our bank?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

It is just too much for way too circumstantial situations. Under that logic why don’t we have the option to type a password in to start our car after already putting the key into the ignition in order to release the break, for the same or similar reasons as you list above.

The point is that doing such a thing ends up causing more problems with people setting it up, forgetting their password, getting locked out and creating tickets (thus creating manpower to fix user error) to get it solved. Also cause legit issues of the system corrupting passwords and having to be fixed (more manpower to fix). In the end, it causes many more problems than it solves because the only problems it potentially solves are extremely situational. It is a form of risk management.

+1

There comes a point where we need to take responsibility for the security of our accounts, not just slapping layer after layer of additional security down.

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I’m not a major supporter of outfits, though I do have a couple, but I would really like a nice one that is designed for the charr first. What do I mean by this? Well many, if not all, outfits are designed on a human model first and then adapted to fit the other races. Unfortunately this leaves a LOT to be desired for other races… particularly charr.

Would it be too much to ask if for once they reversed that level of care and showed the charr form some respect? If they did and then adapted it onto the other races, I think it could still look great regardless. (Minus kitten where a tail should be, right? )

If its not a giant clipping issue then its a charr wrapped up in a dress — two things I just can’t stand.

So if any ArenaNet designer is listening — I’d pay for an outfit that was made primarily for Charr first, other races second. Doubt it’ll happen…. but I can dream.

So, I see more players in LFG key farming

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Thanks in advance for getting key rewards out of personal story nerfed, guys. :\

Honestly, get a hold of yourself. ArenaNet has been aware of key farming since launch. This is nothing new.

True, and even gave the go ahead to farm them.
Dev responses here.

Colin stated at Pax a long while back that the QD champ train was fine too… People were just “playing the game” etc etc. Look what happened to that.

So, I’d say take what’s said with a grain of salt and realize that their stance could change at any time.

A disciple of Murphy’s Law, I see.

While I REALLY don’t want this thread turning into a discussion of the QD train, I feel I must respond to this. Key farming has remained exactly the same since launch. It crosses in and out of 2 zones (Queensdale and DR), with multiple instances along the way. It is not zerg content. It has no damaging effect on new players learning core game mechanics in starter zones, and yes that was why ArenaNet used the “nerf hammer” on that train – whether you believe that or not is irrelevant.

That being said nothing is set in stone. Nothing. If lets say, a long line of players can constantly be seen 24/7 running along the same path that key-farmers tend to run, then maybe something will be done. But we are not at that point. Nor do I believe we ever will be as key farming is the most monotonous activity in Guild Wars 2. The time and energy for the rewards gained are … discouraging.

Can GW2 be saved?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

Don’t see how any of us could force or sway ArenaNet or NCsoft to do anything other than what they want to do. We can choose to give feedback. We can choose to buy or not buy from the gem store. We can choose to play or not to play. Outside of that there isn’t much we can do.

Judging from their past performance, no, I don’t think GW2 can be “saved” anymore. If I’m wrong in that – then I’ll be happy. As for just playing GW2 for what we ourselves find enjoyable and waiting for another game to play…. I think GW2 will be my last game for a long time. My Xbox has been boxed up for 7 months now and I’ve no interest in dusting it off. I also feel that I’ve wasted a lot of my life on PC gaming too… Its all rather disappointing.

Also what I find enjoyable in GW2 is shrinking by the day and seems to only be adding stress to my life. The ONLY reason I’m logging in when I do now is for my friends. Its gotten to a point where I don’t care about dailies, monthlies, achievements, LS, rewards, etc etc. I really don’t give a kitten . What do I still care about? Making sure my friends that still like GW2 have as much fun as possible.

I’ve become rather jaded with GW2 gameplay, content, and … and even the players themselves. The odds of me wishing to kill nearby “allies” is increasing each night. Can you imagine that? Heh. I find myself wishing that I could drag the players that stay dead at events to a nearby cliff and push them off. Or if I spot someone that is just spamming their 1 skill, I like to think of creative ways of killing them myself. * shrugs *

Wonder if I’ve been transforming into a troll since 4/15.

Again, I truly wish the game gets better. That it lives up to what it was advertised to be. Coming from years of Guild Wars play – I suppose I’m just too loyal in GW2 when I shouldn’t be.

Mounts [merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Azhure.1857

Azhure.1857

I bet if they did add mounts every anti mount player on these forums would rush out and buy/earn one after their initial cry.

That would be a very unwise move on your part. Your losses…. I shudder to imagine it.

Personally, if I were the gambling type, I’d say that some of the “anti-mount” players would rush out and grab a mount. However it would not be for the reasons you believe. They would not race for mounts because they want them — but rather because they would suddenly feel that they need them. Whether the mounts offered any form of gameplay advantage or not would make no difference in that respect. We see this mentality in so many aspects of the game already. When something exists in game, from cosmetic skins to achievement points, many players feel compelled to work towards attaining all that they can.

As for the rest of the “anti-mount” crowd? Well I imagine some would try their best to continue playing the game without mounts, no matter how damaged their experience may be. The rest…. well the rest may just quit the game.

But you don’t really want to hear that, do you?
You’re of the type that believes “NO.” = “Yes.” Am I correct?
That all of us that have spoken out against mounts have done so not because we don’t want mounts, but because we somehow just want to be viewed by the forum community as having said that we don’t want mounts?

You have no idea of what I know or where I’ve been, but you should probably just stop arguing. Every time you say something like people RPG because this is an MMORPG, you are asking for this kind of feedback. Don’t make statements like that, and you won’t get this type of feedback.

The same could be directed right back at you. :/
When you continually take a disrespectful tone, is it really a surprise that you may receive the same? You’re creating much of it, though not all admittedly. If you actually took some care into what you’re saying and how you say it – I imagine the same consideration would be granted towards you.

@ Those that use the excuse of “real life stuff” pulling you away unexpectedly.

True. It does happen. Life happens.
However too many people use it as a shield. If you can’t commit to starting AND finishing an activity in game – then you deserve no credit and/or rewards for that activity. There is no pause function in GW2. So people are leeching rewards from events that they don’t deserve. Staying dead on the ground but not caring because they got in their “boss tap” and will get credit regardless. Standing afk nearby playing their Xbox instead because they didn’t have to do more than tap and get out (yes, I know multiple people that do this).

Its bullkitten. Complete bullkitten. Maybe taking something away from you would be too much punishment for this because sometimes life does happen, though more people are using that here for the sake of argument than what actually ends up happening. But on the other side of the coin nobody should be rewarded for it. Yet they are. Repeatedly. Every night.

Some of you may ask why it bothers me so much. Part of the answer would be that people that are there but aren’t contributing does make it harder for those that are actually working towards event completion. Though some events are so pathetic that even with 1/2 of a zerg dead, the boss still melts before your eyes. (Hi, Karka) Another reason it bothers me is because it feels extremely unfair, again to those that are playing the game as intended. Please don’t try to come back with a “tap and pull out” style of play was how ArenaNet wanted its customers to play this game. Finally I’d say that whether its a reason I’ve already listed, a combination, or something I’m not fully understanding yet – Everytime I see/hear leeching…. it slowly sucks the enjoyment out of this game for me. Soul sucking.

Now some of you are going to go, “Aw kitten she mentioned the Manifesto”. Yeah. Manifesto. There…. I said it. Deal with it. But the part I’m pulling from that is where they talk about how they don’t want you to feel angry or upset when you see people joining in on Events. That it will take nothing from you if people join. That you will even want people to join up with you.

Sadly that’s no longer the case. Now I’m used to a new system, I suppose. Pardon all the “kitten” – Its what my guild has actually heard me say on TS these days.
“Okay, how many of you little kittens are just going to spam skill#1?”
“Mhmm, how many of you are just going to body slam the boss to get your tap and then lay dead or back out and leech the rest of the event?”
“Wonder how many of you little kittens are going to dodge? Listen to /s and /m chat? Learn and play with boss mechanics accordingly?”

Its getting to the point where I’m feeling less and less happy with current GW2 gameplay. Instead I spend more time going between tired or drained to annoyed or downright kittened off. I’m sure some would call that “burned out”. Could very well be right about that. I’ve not been logging in as much.

Yet isn’t “burned out” something you normally associate with work? Stress?
Why is Guild Wars 2 burning me out?

Meh.
Sorry for all the venting and going off on a tangent.

I’m no white knight.
But thankfully I’m also not an attention seeker getting up on a soap box before they ditch the game. (Or a sympathizer towards such a player.)

If you actually cared you’d give constructive feedback about why you’re leaving — but as that is not why you made this sorry excuse for a thread….

You should be able to get them WITHOUT being FORCED to play a style you don’t want.
PvP—just crap to me, but if you like it, enjoy and have fun.

You’re not forced here. Options include: Map completion, black lion chests, PvP, Personal story (not positive about this one), and gem shop.

If those options aren’t good enough for you, then too bad? Because your argument could be thrown at just about anything in this game. If you want something – do what needs to be done to get it. Or pull out your credit card.

Male Legendary Bow?

I’m disappointed.

I thought OP was going to ask for a Legendary bow with Legendary male parts on it.

(Sadly leaves thread).

There’s a solution! Just strap a set of truck nuts on the legendary bows.

Goodness. While I don’t particularly like that Heart quest, I’m against simply removing it because it is challenging. I’m tired of this game being tuned down. * sigh *

Is there a reason this thread wasn’t merged with the main Mounts thread?

Start a thread out of curiosity. You’ve got my attention.
Insert veiled insult in opening post to many of the players in this game that may or may not respond to your thread. You’ve lost my attention.
