Can you not. There are periods of time where I just can’t log in for weeks because of university, it doesn’t mean I don’t love the game or want to be able to contribute to discussions.
Don’t worry, FlamingFoxx. I believe Mark has already stated that they will not. Enjoy your school time and your periodic breaks into GW2.
I don’t think many people really understand the idea of April Fools’ Day. Maybe they’ve never played pranks before? Or maybe they’ve only had them played on them and they’re bitter?
April Fool’s pranks are normally very short in duration, not a forced 24 hours. I would imagine anyone that dared to prank someone for a full day would have a lot of heat coming their way as a result. So why is it so surprising that ArenaNet is getting similar heat now?
If you are unhappy about today’s “prank”, then make your complaints here.
If you are happy about today’s “prank”, then please thank ArenaNet here and then go back and enjoy your game. The prank will end tonight. Don’t waste your time beating on other people because they have differing opinions on this topic.
I whole-heartedly agree with the fact that death is meaningless in this game and carries no consequence if you should die. However resetting people to lvl 1 is so far in the extreme that it would never be considered. Why? I’ll just give one example atm – You’re in a fight and disconnect, then return to find your character reverted to level 1.
The old GW1 Death Penalty would be nice if applied here in GW2 however. It gave a -15% penalty to all stats and damage, if I remember correctly, every time you died. Maxing out at -60%.
….or you know….. we could have more “armor.”
Maybe some more pants instead of all the men wearing a dress/skirt all the time would be pretty cool too.
Especially for Charr.
^ THIS! So much of this!
+10,000
Thank you, Gaile, for the communication here. It IS nice to know. I also appreciate ArenaNet polishing the update more if it needs it -versus- releasing it when its not ready. That would be more upsetting than a delay.
@ OP — The name is inappropriate and is clearly against the rules. I’m sure you know this, you just don’t like accepting it.
@ Everyone else responding in this thread — Please be careful that you don’t break rules yourselves when posting. Just scrolling through I can say there may be infractions slapped down on a lot of you.
@ Moderators — Please close this thread.
I think you’re over-reacting.
Give people an inch and they’ll take a mile.
You’re the one that posted this nonsense thread. Don’t give me that “wondering” crap.
It has to be a bug.
There is no way they would alter one of the critical features of the game without making any announcement on it.
Aww…. That’s just precious.
Still believing that after all this time.
You hold them to higher standards and have greater expectations than I do.
Imagine when they throw us into a larger scale map, event, and/or story that focuses us more in water combat – This will then come to pass.
The problem isn’t with this one advert. If they read the forums at all, which they do, they’ll know that tension on the gem store at the moment is at an all-time high.
Yet what dot hey do? Oh that’s right! Let’s put an in-game advert at the players just to see how vexed they can reaaally be!
^This. I’m not one of the people that are crying out over the gem shop but it was rather foolhardy to advertise like they did at present.
We don’t have guild halls because ArenaNet hasn’t created them and implemented them.
Snap.
Though I’m happy with a couple things in the latest patch/update – I’m not going to just forget the issues I have with your 4/15 Feature Pack, ArenaNet. Mainly Megaservers and the boss timer schedule system. Some of us may just let it go, may even forget about the issues that had them riled up a month ago, but I am not among that crowd.
If I don’t hear back from you all soon… I’ll prolly have to retire from the game. I’m sure there will be people that will go, “Boo hoo. Now give me your stuff.” I don’t care about them. I care about this game but I can’t take it the way it is any longer. Its not fun at present. The people I play with are the only reason I log in each day and many of them are beyond frustrated too. We have nearly 2000 posts in this thread alone and all you people have cared to respond with is a , “We’re busy.”
Not good enough.
I’m not trying to discredit anybody here. However, as some have mentioned, they have seen players making posts about having quit the game, yet see those same players on their friends list logging in daily. If you’re posting about how long ago you quit the game, yet log in daily, that’s attention-seeking.
The point I’m getting at here is that while there are people who behave in that manner, there are at least as many, if not more, players who legitimately come and go for whatever reasons and should not be punished for that simple fact. I don’t assume somebody is using those tactics just because they say that they quit the game, and anybody (yes anybody) who is leaving constructive and respectful feedback has a right to leave said feedback, regardless of their last login date.
I should also add that the considerations for this feature were over two years ago when we were launching the forums and determining what type of restrictions to put in place.
Thank you for your quick responses here, Mark. It is appreciated by all of us, even by those that may not agree with you. I’m glad to hear I was mistaken in my fears over one of your previous statements.
The Feedback threads we designate on patch days are incredibly important so we can get as much information (good, bad, broken, bugs, whatnot) as possible without the Dev Team spending time looking all over for the feedback. Specific staff will be looking for the feedback pertaining to their job. As example, we try to forward all bug reports to the bug forums so QA can track it and submit. They’ll be the first to notice the patterns and get the ball rolling.
Does that help?
So how often will we have to bump/necro the mega server and other feature patch threads before we get a meaningful response?
I believe, at this point, its safe to say that they’re not allowed to give a “meaningful response” on anything related to the 4/15 Feature Pack – Or they would have done so already. Danicia has replied promptly to questions/posts that she is allowed to comment on.
Skimpy and male just ….do not sound right together. shudders
Sounds right enough for me.
Yeah, well, its best not to view the Manifesto these days. They no longer follow it.
I’m afraid we shall have to agree to disagree on what is and isn’t rewarding. I’m a veteran player and I find leveling this new alt to be fun. More challenging but still fun.
All these replies saying “we have waypoints” are ignoring the point of the post. New characters don’t have these waypoints yet, and they get rid of a combat skill (making the game less fun) in favor of a running skill when completing a new area.
Waypoints don’t exist to these characters yet, and essentially removing 1 combat skill just to travel faster WHEN NOT IN COMBAT is making combat less fun for people playing this game.
Not a hard concept to grasp. The way we have now isn’t fun.
Well thanks for speaking for me. I was not aware that I haven’t been having fun during my map completion adventures. Suppose I’m just not paying close enough attention to myself? Am I too immersed in killing enemies, completing hearts, and exploring to see it?
Hmm… this could be a problem…. I think I’m having fun but someone else says that it just can’t be true.
Since when was there such a thing as “too much loot”?
Challenging content? …..
After the NPE and its resulting portrayal of what ArenaNet feels new players are capable of, which is next to nothing, how can you have so much faith in anything “challenging”?
I know its amusing to some and frustrating for others… but its actually making me very sick. I’ve never had issues with motion sickness in GW2 until today.
I just can’t play like this.
For all of you that are feeding off of the “haters” on this forum thread, does that not mean anything to you? That some of us physically can’t take it as a joke?
Sadly they just don’t care. Even if the issue is serious, you ‘have no humour’ or ‘are a hater’. I’m having medical issues with the prank as well, so I’ve decided not to play today.
Don’t have a choice in the matter. No GW2 today for me either.
Was thinking that I would like a few tri-color fur patterns for Charr characters. As I don’t foresee Anet designing a second fur pattern option to do this — I thought maybe they could release a few patterns that have a set third color pattern in black or white.
@Arwen: I truly believe that GW2 will eventually have good end-game content. But at the pace they’re going – I don’t believe a lot of the current players will be around for when it arrives.
I hope I’m wrong in this.
We’ve had several threads started over this very topic over the last few months. Each ended with silence from ArenaNet. This one will be no different.
They know we want more communication from them. For whatever reason they’ve decided that they’re not going to communicate to the level that many of us want.
Is it right?
Kitten no.
But the sooner each of us accepts it as reality, the sooner we’ll stop expecting it and only being disappointed. Right now we’re just pounding on a brick wall and expecting it to turn into a human being with the ability to talk with us. Its not happening.
A surprise visit from a Dev would always be welcome, there is no doubt about that, but I’m no longer waiting for it. I will no longer expect it. I can’t afford to have any level of expectation of them, anymore.
ArenaNet has lowered the bar too far.
not like i care much about the topic…but isnt female armor already 90% underwear?
No. It’s not.
So why give them your time and money, when its obvious that they are not listening to their customers.
One could argue that they are listening as I don’t believe the Queensdale champ train would have gone down like it did, nor the other starter zone champs, if it were just that “ArenaNet isn’t listening”.
The problem is that ArenaNet isn’t responding to an even greater issue. Radio silence. With that level of high care customer support – it is far too easy to imagine that they are just waiting us out. ArenaNet: “Eventually they will shut up and get over it.”
I think silk is just fine. What we need to do is fix the others so they’re the same as silk.
Agreed. The others are practically worthless at present — I’m hoping that changes in the future.
Toughness is for physical damage.
Vitality is for conditions.
Customers that quit are infinitely harder to reclaim than it is to retain customers considering leaving. Makes me question why people would think they’d give more than a passing thought as to why people left instead of giving more considering to the reasons people are considering leaving.
As its been previously stated – the reasons the OP and/or other people that have left recently directly coincide with those that are thinking of leaving soon themselves.
For whatever reason, failing some of the events has been profitable since launch.
Something I don’t think I will ever understand. One would think they would push to make events more profitable… but they never really have.
I would also like to add to the comment on farming toxicity in Amber. I saw none of it. None. In fact chat was very friendly and full of laughter. Perhaps I was lucky, I can’t be certain, but I don’t think so.
Two ways to avoid megaservers:
- Stop playing GW2
That’s exactly how I’ve avoided the megaserver mess
Hate to burst your bubble but just about every MMO is in the megaserver mess right now.
Did he/she mention playing another MMO? Pretty sure all that was said is that he/she isn’t playing GW2 anymore.
It may surprise you to know that some of us that have stopped or will stop playing GW2 – aren’t just going to jump on another game.Right, so instead of playing another game you guys just log onto the Guild Wars 2 forums complaining for entertainment.
Do you normally resort to insults when someone calls you out for making a mistake?
Whether you believe it or not, many of us “complain” because we hope for improvement in a game we love or used to love. I personally don’t find it “entertaining” dealing with other forum posters like you. Its stress that I don’t need in my life.
Have a good day.
@ OP — All forum posters, regardless of in game activity, are capable of both constructive and unconstructive posts.
One could of course question if someone that have not played for a year would be able to post constructive stuff about the current state of the game, seeing as they are clearly not up to date about what the current state of the game actually is.
Depending on the topic at hand, sure. But there are many active players that aren’t fully aware of the “current state of the game” either.
I’m just saying that blocking a group of people from posting just because they’re inactive isn’t justifiable, in my opinion.
EDIT: Also if its the inactive “trolls” that you really wish to block. How could you or ArenaNet possibly do it? All they would have to do is log in to their account for a second and technically they’re “active” again.
LOL!
Amusing that you point out how immature and unhelpful someone else is by demonstrating that very thing yourself. Well done.
I would not move to another MMO/game. If anything I would just use the hours that I spend in this game every day on something more constructive in my life. Maybe come back when I see the first expansion on a shelf in 2017.
Reasons I may leave:
- Megaservers
– Lack of community/server identity
– Guilds being ripped apart constantly
– Zergs so large that my computer freezes up and all I see is a blob
of 80+ people making a “Legendary” world boss melt like butter.
– Events that I can’t do because they aren’t up ever, because now
camping at Temples is the new “thing” to do.
- Lack of new content/Tyria largely unexplored after 2 years.
– Isle of Janthir
– Janthir Bay
– Woodland Cascades
– Far Shiverpeaks
– Blood Legion Homelands
– Blazeridge Mountains
– Maguuma Wastes
– Magus Falls
– Sea of Sorrows
– Deldrimor Front
– Crystal Desert
– Elon River
– Scavenger’s Causeway
– Ring of Fire
- Boss Timer schedule and ArenaNet supported MegaZerg Champ Train.
- WvW
– Maps pretty much the same since launch. I wouldn’t mind them
dropping a Scarlet/LA sized bomb on the lot of them and redoing
it like they’re doing with LA now.
– Blob vs Blob warfare.
That’s primarily it.
Oh and I don’t count Southsun as being new content, before anyone jumps in to say otherwise. It even to this day seems very kitten. None of it effects Tyrian completion, it has no heart quests and no real colonization (people/NPCs) to make it feel alive. All it is to me is the location for the ‘Not so Legendary’ Karka Queen.
Actually kicking them out of the map back to the character log-in screen is reasonable. Like the 2min timer in PvP. Its really not a severe punishment.
The bans that the OP suggests are absolutely ridiculous though.
I am also beyond frustrated with this. Don’t know if anything is truly being done about it either. In the last two days I’ve come across several people that have thrown the match, even to the point of admitting it and laughing about it. One player, whom I was thrown into multiple games with, would load in and immediatly offer to throw the match if the opposing team would send him/her gold.
ArenaNet: Looks > Personality
Like I said in the last Mounts thread – why is it the same people are bumping a thread on mounts if they don’t like it?
It’s fine to not want mounts (I don’t want them either!), but don’t complain about Mount threads if you’re gunna keep bumping each one that comes!
The problem with that argument is, if you don’t declare your opposition, then those in favour of mounts will simply declare that they are the majority and should be listened to because those in the anti-mount crowd have refrained from posting a comment or making their opposition known. Unfortunately, bumping threads like this is a necessary evil when making sure that the anti-mount voice is still heard as long as these mounts threads continue to be created.
Anet need to declare once and for all what their stance on mounts is.
+1 Well said. * applauds *
So, from a game world perspective, anyone who uses shouts to grant boons now has to bellow at the top of his lungs so his friend on the other side of a mountain can hear “FOR GREAT JUSTICE!” and gain boons.
Gameplay wise, others have already given the reasons why this is a bad idea.
LOL!
You should have gone a different route if you were trying to belittle the idea given by the OP. But sure, I’ll bite. You want to get more literal with this? Personally if you take the current range of boons via shouts – you would have to be extremely hearing impaired to not hear someone shouting at that distance. Even to go so far as increasing boon range to 1500 – that is still literally well within “hearing” range of a shout.
+1 to the OP’s suggestion
It would remove one of the reason’s people give as being critical for stacking. If it helps kill off 10 armed flailing masses of tissue – I’m a supporter.
Again – No mounts.
Not quite. None of the new black lion weapon sets have under water parts. They removed the only PVP map with water and theyve also said that HOT wont have anything to do with any underwater combat. It does seem to be that way.
Just because you don’t have a sparkly new aquatic weapon skin or that ArenaNet has decided not to add deep water in the upcoming Maguuma maps does not mean that they are “removing underwater content from the game”. Saying so is just a sad attempt at rumor-mongering and nothing more.
So to put it simply:
Not adding new underwater content =/= Removing underwater combat from the game.
Thank you and have a nice day.

At what point, exactly, are you going to stop stirring up drama for the sole purpose of trying to make the “other side” look unreasonable because you riled them up with horrible analogies and oversimplifications?
This thread should get locked, like all the others, because even with people trying to discuss this maturely things like this keep hitting, repeatedly, by the same people over and over.
I can’t help but agree with you in this. This thread is quickly becoming unsalvageable.
Lock thread, please.
Read the chat. Communicate. Stop zerging. Think.
That’s why I love it just as it is. It can’t be stupidly zerged out with 1111111 zerg tactics alone. Please do not nerf Tequatl.
While I agree with some of the things you have said, I do want to point out that your tone leaves much to be desired. Trivializing other players concerns, complaints, and/or suggestions while doing that very thing in your next breath… makes you a horrible hypocrite.
Good day, “that guy”.
Whether its from players that don’t understand the mechanic, those that don’t care one way or another, or players that are actually trolling the event — it seems Copper is far too easy to fail as a whole.
I will grant you that it is actually an easy boss if you have good players with great single target condition skills. However its also far too easily sabotaged by the player types I listed above. To the point where all it takes is one dedicated troll to ruin it for everyone else. That shouldn’t be allowed.
Now we can’t report players for trolling, at least not that I’m aware of, but we should make it more difficult for the event to fail by the actions of one or two people.
My suggestion is to give the Offshoots some kind of heavy retaliation, or give the Husk the ability to grant said retaliation onto the nearby Offshoots. So if someone, lets say a staff guardian, runs in and spams his staff everywhere — He dies. Quickly. Without mercy.
Trolls should be an annoyance at most, not event breaking.
Just another thread where people are trying to say who does and does not have the right to be a commander.
Join the squad of the commander you like and get over it already. kitten it all we have a system in place that automatically ignores “tags” if you’re in a squad. Use it.
Hopefully they can implement a toggle that removes all tags from the map someday.. .but until then you need to stop your whining over this. Nobody here can decide who is or isn’t “worthy” of being a commander.
Sadly I’m in agreement here…. The ‘Dragonhunter’ title seems far too cheesy, even by ArenaNet standards. But in the long run does it really matter? Outside of hardcore RP circles I don’t really see the issue.
EDIT: I don’t expect ArenaNet will change the name, regardless of its relatively poor reception, but I will throw my support in for a change towards ‘Arbiter’.
