Sorrow’s Furnace Commander
“You’re the mount, karka’s ride you instead, and thus they die happy!”-Colin Johanson
LOL, I don’t agree at all. It would be a huge unjustified nerf to those sigils. Those sigils do nothing after they’ve reached a full stack. It’s just as if you had an empty sigil slot after that. Whereas other sigils continue to do their thing. Compare the constant +5% damage sigil to the volatile +250 Power which disappears when you’re down.
How can you say that providing +250 power is doing “nothing”?
Sweet. You should give Josh and Anet rights to use that in future SAB updates. It would make great boss fight music
I like it, especially if it changes attack flame colors to match.
No Asian IP should access EU or NA registrated accounts. Autoblock.
That might be a bit much, and bordering on racism, but it gave me an idea…
Why not offer players an option to region-lock our accounts so that they can’t be accessed from other countries? Then if we decide to move or travel, we could turn it off temporarily, and re-lock it once we’re settled again. It could save a lot of accounts from being stolen.
i assume, you guys should fix the class itself first… but as you said… you know what happens when you assume…
How about someone reminds you how broken traits, pets, spirits, signet cooldowns and dungeon rangers are?
Yes, this is TOTALLY what the ranger needs.
Not fixing their horrid trait lines, not improving pet AI, not making utility skills actually bring some UTILITY in a team, no, what rangers really need is a fix for the rainbow freaking jellyfish texture.
RANGERS ARE SAVED
i assume, you guys should fix the class itself first… but as you said… you know what happens when you assume…
But that’s hard and they haven’t had time to really work on the ranger class just since beta but what ever.
Seriously fix the kitten class first.
Enough with the immature, off topic, negative comments. You are not helping.
This change probably takes one designer and one artist, which takes zero resources away from the balance team, so relax.

Merging servers or redistributing population would only be a short term fix. Alliances could help keep people playing together, but losing server identity would definitely hurt the WvW community. It’s not just about fighting alongside your friends, it’s about fighting for your server.
Have you considered my earlier suggestion of 2v2v2 matchups? Each server would be paired with another for each match. The highest ranked server could be paired with the lowest ranked server, etc. This system would automatically protect the lower ranked servers from falling into a state of hopelessness, and thereby reduce the urge for people to abandon low ranked servers.
This would result in half as many matchups though, so we would either need to raise map capacities or add additional WvW maps. I think that adding a fifth map on a weekly rotation would be the best solution to this, as it would also address players concerns about WvW becoming too repetitive. This would be a single map from a pool of balanced maps for each matchup, either randomly chosen or on a cycle. This would also allow for the addition of new maps into the cycle without having to worry about rebalancing player distribution among maps or getting rid of existing ones.
John, I would love you hear your opinions on these suggestions.
(On a related note, EU currently has 27 servers, which would not work for this system, so they would either need to gain 3 or lose 3, as the number needs to be divisible by 6.)

Your minis do not automatically get moved to the wardrobe. They should be exactly where you left them (either in your inventory, storage, or collectable storage).
- A massive hit to Economic Action (or Economic Movement, if you prefer that term)
This change’s effect on the economy will likely be so minuscule that, unless for some reason you’re tracking the rate at which 5-slot bags are entering the trading post, the change will be unnoticeable. The most significant change will likely be a slight increase in price of the “container” items that drop in Queensdale, which will help new players earn money a tiny, tiny bit faster.
- A not-inconsiderable hit to getting new players/alts to higher levels quickly and easily (no one wants to stay in the starter zones for an eternity, and the trains were a fine way of getting you up to level 30 fast)
Almost everything you do in the game gives you experience, even sPvP now. Actually playing the game is a MUCH better way to level than hoping your low level character can keep up with the champ train and do enough damage to get credit.
- A detrimental effect on the game’s presentation to new players (difficulty, opportunity, necessity of teamwork, etc.)
So players who first start the game see a group of 50 people appear, kill 6 things in a row and repeat. If I started a new game and saw that as the content of the game, I would never play that game again. It’s better that new players don’t immediately have the most boring aspect of the game (farming) shoved down their throats.
- A clear and fundamental shift from what Guild Wars 2 prided itself on offering apart from other MMORPGs: a cross-world experience for all players, young and old, that would be made available and enjoyable to players regardless of their in-game level.
I’m not going to counter this, because this doesn’t make any sense. (I haven’t read through the responses though, so if you explained this in a later comment, I missed it.)
At what point are you seeing players join teams from spectator mode? Rewards are based on time played on a team, so are people forgoing partial rewards to be on the winning team?
Yes.
Apologies if I’ve missed it, but I have yet to see someone suggest team-switching to spectator working the same as switching between Red and Blue. Disallow it if it would unbalance the teams. The general case is still possible, but harder. One person could move to spectator in a 5v5, but autobalance wouldn’t happen unless another player from the same team left the arena completely. Even if this doesn’t fix the problem entirely, it still makes team switching more consistent and less able to be abused. This should probably be done regardless of any other steps we could take.
Here’s a very common scenario:
5v4, the the four are losing. Someone from the losing team clicks spectator mode, and it becomes 5v3. Autobalance kicks in, and changes it to 4v4. The player who just left the losing team immediately joins the winning team, and there’s nothing the other players can do about it, unless the remaining players on the losing team now do the same thing, which ultimately screws over everyone who is actually trying to play.
And if you want top notch WvW, choose Sorrow’s Furnace!
I had to. :P
It’s been fun fighting you guys and FC this week. Three hours til reset and it’s still anyone’s game!
Mine started doing this too with the very latest patch.
Here are my ideas so far. Some are more fun than realistic. I’ll list them in approximate order of difficulty.

I’m not sure how, but Scarlet is definitely involved.
lol why would they put a green dot on map for miniature… That is so confusing.
Those trolls…
Yeah… I’ve actually entered a few 1v2 fights thinking another player had my back, just to realize it was a kitten.
PS That’s not the censor acting up, it was actually a kitten.
While sad, that is less tragic than the Captain’s Airship Pass. Any young Quaggan discovered logging in there is summarily hurled over the side and has to endure an entire extra loading screen as he falls to his death.
That is the saddest screenshot I’ve ever seen.
Please add “Leeching” to the reasons that we can report someone. I’m sick of matches where half my team is afk to get their daily matches played.

It would save players (and servers) load time if players could go to any waypoint in Lion’s Arch for free from anywhere. Currently most players get there for free anyway by going through the Heart of the Mists or WvW.
It would even be possible (and more fun) to implement this as a reward. Completing ‘Retribution’ or ‘Victory or Death’ could result in each character being sent a letter of gratitude from the Lionguard, telling the character that they are always welcome in Lion’s Arch and waypoint fees will be waived due to their heroics deeds.
If you like this idea, please speak up!

Oh…this explains the bug I encountered the other day. In WvW, I was downed while immobilized or stunned or something. The enemies then finished me off, and an ally ressed me about two minutes. As soon as I was ressed, my character did a dodge roll without me touching the keyboard. And here I thought he was just excited.
If you feel like sending them out to random people I’ll take a stack or two to help with daily feast when it comes up.
Suzie? What’s that? Some pet? A llama?
Susie is was their pack bull.

Braham isn’t actually a guardian, he’s secretly a Sandwichmancer, but doesn’t want to be teased for using Hamstorm.

For everyone modifying the host file: be careful. If Arenanet ever changes that IP/URL pairing, you won’t be able to connect.

It took me almost 5 minutes to load LA yesterday. I’ve always had slow loading screens (I’m running GW2 on a 4 year old laptop) but it got noticeably worse when Cutthroat Politics began.
For an issue that seems to be affecting a large portion (if not a majority) of players, I don’t think support tickets will do anything but burden the customer support team.
Click the icon in the top left that looks like two crossed swords to open the PvP window. There should be a button near the top left of that window that says something like “Leave the Mists”. Click that and you’ll return to the PvE world. From there, your next personal story objective should appear in green in the top right of your screen, with a green burst marking it on the map.

There’s one thing that everyone having a problem with this instance needs to do, and all of your problems will be solved:
Read enemy descriptions. They’re listed under their health bars when you target them.
You could stop farming champions in Queensdale.
On a more serious note, it would be nice if they would salvage into 1-2 Rawhide Leather Sections, with something like a 0.5% chance of also giving a common Unidentified <bag color> Dye.

sofar these devs have been nothing but rude kittenbags to the playerbase. Great customer service you have going on here
The only true part of this is the second sentence. You clearly haven’t read any of the dev responses. Maybe you’re just trolling, or maybe you just like slandering others, but either way your baseless negativity is an unappreciated distraction in the constructive discussion that we’re attempting to have.
“Toxin” is likely going to be a new condition that we’ll only see from new content, so that won’t even affect WvW.
A minor heal that can remove poison, torment, and confusion from yourself and up to four adjacent allies will be next to useless in WvW, because that would never be worth trading your actual heal skill for. Every class (except Thief) already has better condition removal than that from at least one utility or heal skill.
This thread is ridiculous.
The Trahearne fight is one of the easiest. He’s got nothing on the Spider Queen.
I’m glad he has a downed state though. Finishing him was gratifying.
Just like in Guild Wars 1, when I press F12 I’m prompted with the question “Are you sure you want to log out?” and the three options of “Log Out”, “Character Select”, or “Cancel”. But unlike Guild Wars 1, there aren’t hotkeys corresponding to those options. Please add those hotkeys to this game, they were very useful to those of us that switch characters often.
I’m still hoping it’s Elli.
Ah i see what is happening here… This is the “Justin ODell Show”
So so soooo many players here on the pvp forums who had great ideas. In my opinion some of those ideas would have really helped balance the pvp section of this game. But no no no, the only thing you want now is to force feed us the “Justin ODell idea spoon” so you and your team can say “look what we did”…
Want to fix pvp? Listen to your players… Some posted ideas on this forum with scripts and explanations, and it was all for nothing.
You only have to make pvp so that you can go solo (WITH OTHER SOLO PLAYERS), or you go with team (WITH OTHER TEAM MEMBERS).
You really did a great job on the balance issue! But now you want us to cheer, for something that should not have been here in the first place?!
Get a grip and just fix pvp without the show or nonsense…
They do listen to the players, just not players who post insulting comments like this. Post something constructive and maybe Anet will listen.
As of now we don’t have a problem with players doing this. While the late join is unintended, if players want to pay for this service, that’s fine. It does trivialize the skins some, but this isn’t any different than the skins from purchasing a raid run or a dungeon run (which we also are ok with). As long as the transaction is completed and players are getting what they paid for, fine.
So Arenanet is encouraging blatant exploits now? This is so wrong.
I’d prefer a later release similar to the Bonus Mission Pack in the first Guild Wars. It could include the binding of Abaddon and other epic moments in Guild Wars history.
YES! Thank you!
Very excited for this and can’t wait to see what sort of skins we’ll get.
You can see them in the screenshots at the bottom of the page.
Remove achievement points from dailies and remove these points from total count!
I would much rather see achievement specific rewards in addition to rewards earned with AP. That way certain things can only be obtained by completing the permanent achievements while others can be earned over time, even for players who’ve done most of the permanent ones.

Question:
Would it be possible that instead of simply reducing the longevity of the next levels, you could divide them in two parts?
I’m thinking of just making a lot of alternate paths and more secrets. That way a casual player can run through the main path with ease and those who want tougher content can opt into it.
Just remember there’s that all baubles in 1 run achiev…
Achievements should complement content, not limit it.
Agreed. I would even pay a one-time (or yearly, or whatever) fee in gems to have a pass to a restricted area with a bank and a TP. Just stop making me load 2-3 maps every time i have to do something.
Do you think this would cause any uproar in the community if we did a change like this, and if it did can you think of a better way to implement it?
Just put the banker there. There’s no reason to hide it behind a pay-gate or anything of the sort.
If you’re worried about players going into Heart of the Mists just for the bank, put it farther away from the waypoints so players portaling in have to spend some time running there, but players who actually left their characters in Heart of the Mists don’t lose any convenience.
Why complain about having a bank in the mists? I would say MOST people can just press “B” click their home BL then run right around the corner to the armorsmithing station and bam…a bank. And it is free, so just give the PvP pop a bank as well. I know I would sure love one.
Someone already put up a good argument point for this statement, that WvW isn’t always accessible. Sometimes there is a queue which for players in a hurry will cause them to spend some silver to get to a place with a bank instead of going to WvW for free.
So, off-hours players and players on lower population servers should have more convenient bank options? And why should players who actually want to play WvW have to wait in queue while PvE/PvP players use the bank?
While we’re on the topic, I think it would be a great idea to move the crafting stations from the borderlands to Edge of the Mists to avoid the bank queue problem altogether.

I wouldn’t mind doing story mode on more characters if they fixed the reward. Right now, my level 80 alts really don’t need level 40 rare helms that can’t be salvaged or sold.
For our first completion of story mode on a character, they should give us the choice between the usual helm or a set number of dungeon tokens.
I’m a regular WvW player in Sorrow’s Furnace and I have to admit, it feels like Fergusen’s Crossing and Eredon Terrace gave up a few weeks ago. At least having a new opponent instead of Sorrow’s Furnace would raise morale enough to bring more of them to the battlefield.
I see the point then regarding the weapons, but I would still like some more armor selections to spend money on; otherwise these novelty items like minis and gathering tools don’t give me any desire to pull out my credit card.
These are all non-random armor pieces or sets that are currently available in the gem store. If you ask me, I’d actually like to see more earned skins added rather than gem store skins added.
