Why isn't Palawa Joko expanding his empire?

Joko was always interested in ruling Elona – it’s what made him a threat 200 years before GW1. However, he never showed interest in ruling outside of Elona.

Maybe he just isn’t a ‘world domination’ warlord, which is uncommon for fantasy tropes to settle with just one nation.

Of course, we don’t know Joko’s origin. For all we know, Palawa Joko was a Primeval King or something and saw Elona as ‘rightfully his’ and thus wanted to take only what is ‘rightfully his’.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

I don’t consider that to be evidence that his motive for conquering Elona was entirely to spite King Thorn. King Thorn probably doesn’t give a flaming pumpkin what happened to Elona. If anything, if that was his motive, it would be incentive to go for Kryta. Meanwhile, his actions afterwards make it clear that revenge against the Ossas was his main priority.

The joke for that particular quest is that the thing that Thorn is so derisive about is the very thing that we as players knew he was going to do. (Albeit technically in reverse – Joko diverted the Elon in order to deny water to Elona, the flooding of the Crystal Desert was an added bonus.)

To those who think Scarlet hate means she’s succeeded as a villain:
People don’t hate Scarlet like Game of Thrones fans hate Joffrey.
They hate her the way Star Wars fans hate Jar Jar Binks.

They wouldnt really had time /or a good reason with the timeline we have
Zhaitan’s death>clearing Arah>clearing Orr mainland>dealing with Teq>preparing to attack Kralkatorrik (prolly taking most of the pacts resources)and getting attacked by Mordy all in a 2 year+ span!

Fort Trinity is like literally being at Zhaithan front porch /already to late

also we prolly only got rid of the navy fleet around Orr. it would take time for a fleets to
sail from as far as Ring of fire and beyond (and why bother when you have hordes of dragon champs flying around?)

(also to add Trahearne did imply that zhaithan’s fleet has to physically sail from place to place /meaning no teleport HAX)

I think Zhaitan would be too overconfident to call all its navy back (it prolly saw the Pact&PC as ants till the last minute. Witch would be to late to call back a ocean fleet at that point.

Kralkatorrik (and possibly minions/champions as well) would impede his progress via the Crystal Desert, and even with Zhaitan dead now, it doesn’t mean the Risen over there are gone. The Deep Sea Dragon may or may not also interfere with aquatic travel, like it’s supposedly doing for Cantha.

And, to me at least, he doesn’t seem interested in anything beyond Elona. He did conquer it way before the Elder Dragons started to rise, right? If he really wanted to go over to Tyria, he’d have done it by now, or perhaps realizes that trying to take Tyria as well is too much to handle.

Central Tyria Mastery - no XP gain fix?

In something like WoW or any other MMO what happens when you play beyond level cap? Does all that XP you get goes somewhere, is there some minor reward drop? Pretty sure in those other games you get nada.

And? You might have had a point if we were asking to add something that didn’t exist here. Unfortunately for you, for 3 years this game did offer something for getting xp over level cap (and this wasn’t even anythng new, as GW1 did the same).

My issue is with the stink of entitlement.

Protesting when things are taken away from you is not entitlement.

Maybe the mistake was ANet giving players skill points for “leveling” post 80 for all those years

And maybe it wasn’t a mistake at all.

Central Tyria Mastery - no XP gain fix?

For players that have maxed out the Central Tyria mastery line (which is very easy for players that have been playing the core game for a while + the ability to gain XP in so many areas, including Fractals and Dungeons etc.), there has come a point where XP gain is “wasted”, as it does not progress any “advancement bar”.

Is there any fix in the works, that will at least give us karma and / or spirit shards (or something else) for gaining XP in the core game again? Seeing all the XP wasted is not encouraging at all.

So? Grats you’ve maxed out your character’s progression based on XP and your Account’s mastery tracks. You won!

If we don’t get anything for accumulating XP beyond (current) masteries, it looks weird that we get all these XP buffs and keep seeing XP add up on our screen. It also feels as if it could be used for something.

It’s similar to the situation for people who have maxed out on Magic Find — they keep getting ‘luck’ and have nothing (much) to use it for. It’s also similar to the situation for those who have 40 stacks of ascended mats (empty frags, dragonite, and bloodstone dust, which, as we all know, has no culinary uses).

So, I would also like to see something in the game in exchange for XP. It would be tricky for ANet since: it can’t be too valuable (putting too much pressure on grinding out XP or looking for XP farms) and it can’t be too worthless, or it just takes up space.

Why do we need currency that’s tied to completing dailies to have a 2nd source that could be exploited to create a massive amount of it?

Why do we have to keep having this argument? And why the strawman? All we want is for the extra xp to mean something, as it used to, as it should in a game about progression. It doesn’t have to be currency. It could be a BL ticket scrap. It could be a writ of xp for levelling another toon. It could be a bottle of Nana Zoija’s Patent Toe Jam. And here’s the best part: it doesn’t hurt you at all! You’re accumulating xp like the rest of us, but when your xp bar is full and you get your reward, you’re welcome to delete it so that, you know, you don’t exploit it to create a massive amount of it or whatever.

How observant are you of looks?

Sylvari should preferably wear leaves

That’s racist. You probably think we’re all some kind of tree-loving hippies, don’t you? Living in our tree-houses, communing with nature, eating mushrooms and having orgies on the grass?

Well.. yeah, we do all that but we’re also into other stuff like… adventuring and stuff. And it gets cold in some climates. Leaves just don’t cut it everywhere you go. Sometimes we have to wear regular clothes like the rest of you. In fact, we’re just like the rest of you. If you prick us do we not bleed ….sap?

I resent your discrimination against my people. We shall not be treated like second-class citizens! We shall rise up and… oh, wait. We already did that.

First, if your guild wasn’t set up with rules about representation, participation, or activity, then changing them (or implementing) now should be discussed with officers and the core guild group.

Second, this kind of thing matters if a guild wants to be “serious”. If it’s a casual guild, then these things shouldn’t matter much. If you have a “serious” core then see above. If there are just a few “serious” malcontents within an otherwise casual guild, then I’d suggest finding another guild to suit that need… ’cause you can have five guilds.

Specifically, 1) Inactivity. My guild keeps old friends who’re on hiatus. The guild leader occasionally kicks someone if we haven’t seen or heard from them in several months. Players who say they’re going to be gone for a while because [reasons] get to stay indefinitely.

2) The Zero contributors. IMO, the guild leader should approach them, find out why they never rep or do anything with the guild and why they choose that affiliation?

3)The off lines (invisible). Invisible has many uses. I use invisible when I just want to login for a few minutes and don’t want to get involved in anything time consuming. I’ve known folks to use invisible to avoid stalkers. I’ve also known people who didn’t realize they were invis. If use of invis. is an issue with someone, the guild leader should ask questions.

4) “guild chat?! what’s that?” I don’t always watch guild chat… who does? Sometimes, I get disgusted with map chat and shut it all down. Sometimes, I want to focus on combat stats. Sometimes, I like to ‘listen’ to guild chat but don’t feel the need to comment. The same things could be said for voice-chat programs. AFAIK, no one is required to use them. If you want to communicate with someone, there are a variety of methods to do it; guild chat is just one option.

Guilds, how do others deal with this?

I’m just going to list some questions I have in the hope that some people might know of good solutions to them.

1) Inactivity – do you kick them or keep them on? I’m talking over 3 months inactive and roster space is not the problem.

2) The Zero contributors – They hardly ever represent or help the guild in anyway, but they might still be a friend of someone else in the guild.

3)The off lines (invisible) – they seem to always be set to invisible, you know they have been online as you can tell when they last logged in, but they are never “online”

4) “guild chat?! what’s that?” people that just ignore anything in guild chat and never respond or might once in a blue moon when it suites them.

1) Usually, our leader starts kicking after about 2 months of inactivity. If someone said something beforehand though our leader won’t kick them. So if someone goes overseas or just gets in a position where they won’t be logging in for a while and they told the leader they will keep their spot in the guild.

2) This is kinda difficult. If you do not advertise your guild as a 100% rep required guild then I really don’t see a problem with it. As for contributing that goes that varies between player. Player A may not have that much time to participate in a guild event or they could be doing something else that they prefer. Like if Player A is a strict PvE player and the guild is doing a PvP event then Player A may not want to participate in that.

3) If the player decides to log in as offline then that is that person’s obligation. There is nothing anyone can do to make them change that. If they want to be offline then that is their choice. No one can change that.

4) If someone does not feel like talking then they are not going to talk. I’ve never seen a guild require using guild chat. I know if my guildies are talking about something I don’t really care about then I’m not going to contribute. It seems wrong to make someone contribute to a conversation that they don’t even want to have. If they feel like talking then they will talk. If not, then they won’t. Can’t really do anything about it.

Just finished the story... (spoilers ahead)

I would like to see more stuff for the home instance. Guilds are mostly dead, and I have been burned several times with guilds so I am not joining another one. I would like to work on scribing in the home instance, like a personal guild hall. Right now, I cannot progress at all because I do not have a guild or a hall and I am not planning on getting one. I have my own guild for one player and that’s all I want as I don’t trust others. I am not sure why we can’t have order guild halls where anyone can do scribing like in GW1. This just seems like a waste of space, my home instance because I can’t put stuff into it.

Why is this game called GUILD WARS 2?

Sorry to say this…but waaaaaay to much bs in this thread………….Dont even know where to begin…..Let me start of by defending the thread owner then the writers….

First of all, there is alot of GvG youtube videos, the reviews out there mention pvp/WvW and PvE it does not touch GvG and actually searching upon if it exist is rather hard, unless if you want a 100% search on every lore/gameplay in the game before actually buying it……..

Would it be more fun with GvG? Well based on twitch, it had more viewers than their E-Sports, because this game simply is better gameplay wise, the whole first person shooter gameplay can only be fun for so long in an MMO

Now to the thread owner…..You have had this game for at least a year…..I am guessing way more than a year, the posts shows that the first post you wrote was in April 18th. But on the pictures you have a legendary weapon on your asura so I am guessing way more than that, maybe even from the beginning where GvG was mentioned that it was not in the game or part of it. Either way, I get it if newer people get into the game without knowing GvG, but older players should have a somewhat clear idea of what it is all about xD.

That’s why you should research stuff before you buy it.

Anyway, the name “Guild Wars” originated from an event called “guild wars” that happened in Tyria (the game’s world) a long, long time akitten

ay so do you think that it’s the new player’s responsibility to look this up or the game developer? I mean when i first heard of the game i thought of actual guild wars, not some martin-esque power struggle that isn’t even mentioned at all in any point of the game.
Is the title of the game misleading? a bit
does that matter? not really sure.
would the game do a bit better if it had actual guild wars instead of just implying with its name that it does? a bit.

Yes, it is absolutely the consumer’s job to educate themselves on the product they’re buying. It’s the developer and publisher’s job to get the consumer to buy the product, not to ensure they’re fully informed about it.

Potential causes of the OP’s problem:

  • The map gets tagged for closing, and does not lose that tag when “enough” players enter the map (via taxi or w/ever) and are completing the meta. Solution: the mega server system should check the map population periodically and remove the close tag if a threshold is reached.
  • If there already is such a function (and past experience suggests this may be the case), then the thresholds are too high compared to the threshold for event viability. This may also be the case from the get-go. If the threshold to start the map closure thing is high enough that some groups of players can complete the meta, then once again the threshold for closure is too high. Solution: adjust the bloody numbers.

Next thing I’ll ask. If we’re going to be saddled with these lengthy, timed events which are most of the zone’s reason for existence, and we’re going to be saddled with mega-servers and thus map closures, why did it not occur to ANet to time the zone closure with the end of the meta + 15 minutes downtime period? DS pretty much resets when that happens anyway. Since it wasn’t put in at HoT launch, why can such a closure method not be implemented now?

I just hope more mastery points are added with the next content update in April.

I believe they also dumped in that you have to max out each branch in the Heart of Maguuma masteries in order to craft the new legendaires as “The gift of Insights” can only be made if you have done so.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Gift_of_Insights

Gift of the Itzel -Adrenal Mushrooms is required to purchase this item.
Gift of the Nuhoch -Requires Nuhoch Alchemy
Gift of the Exalted -Exalted Gathering is required to purchase this item.
Gift of Gliding -Ley Line Gliding is required to purchase this item.

So have fun collecting those masteries, as some adventures are super easy and others are very frustrating. Depending on your skill level (and internet speed/lag amount) you might not be able to get enough points to craft new legendaries. So you might just have to grind for gold and buy one instead, unless they are account bound? idk

Central Tyria Mastery - no XP gain fix?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Zoltar MacRoth.7146

I don’t see how it’s wasted. XP is something you get regardless of what you are doing.

Remember how you didn’t gain XP in the labyrinth last Halloween? Lets hope it’s fixed this year, or it will be really quite this year.

You seem to miss my point.
After you have maxed out the Central Tyria mastery lines, the XP gain displayed on your screen does nothing. It does not progress any mastery line or level gain on a Lvl 80. Before HoT we got a spirit shard for reaching a new level threshold. Now we get nothing for the XP gain. That’s why I want some small reward re-introduced to the game we have had for three years already. XP has always been something useful – now its not.

PS: On the Labyrinth. It was a very good idea NOT to give us XP in the Laby because it was far to easy to gain XP there. It should not have been a “power level tool” in the first place, IMO.

No I see your point, you you missed mine. XP was changed at 80. Having it then revert back will not be easy. If it was, I’m sure ANet would have ad the system in place ready. In fairness to ANet when something is easy to implement they tend to do it quick smart.

No, I really think you missed his point. Yes, the previous xp bar becomes the mastery xp bar after 80, but when all your masteries are full any further xp goes to waste. This topic has been discussed many times on these forums and the majority of people agree that this is a waste. No one is asking for it to be reverted. We’re just asking that when your masteries are full you get something for your effort. It could be skill shards, it could be karma, it could even be a host of other wonderful things that some very clever people in these forums have suggested.

GW1 did cover some areas that aren’t in GW2 yet, but equally GW2 covers some areas that were never in GW1. There’s various maps available online that compare the two.

My hope is that eventually we’ll be able to re-visit all of the GW1 locations, and more. I’d love to be able to fully explore all of Tyria. But it depends a lot on how long the game lasts.

As for the other dragons both Primordius and the DSD are awake (Primordius was actually the first), but they’re the furthest from us – deep under ground fighting the remaining dwarves and far out in the ocean fighting Gods only know what lives there, things stranger than the karka apparently.

GW2 as it stands, literally “Lives and dies by its community”, so the short answer is: we will get to see the whole world and beyond if the playerbase is steady (and growing, for we’ll have a pretty kitten large map to fill out with group metas), but won’t even get to see all the dragons if population dies out instead.

What was done in GW1 was that, after population started to diminish, they made it so we could take allied NPCs around with us to do all of the content by ourselves if we wished to. The way GW2 works, I don’t see it happening. could Dragon’s Stand be done with a single person and NPCs? And, more importantly, would it even feel like the same content? GW1 certainly did feel the same with NPCs or players, minus the fun dialogues and versality of builds.

Actually the option to take allied NPC henchmen was in GW1 right from the start, and the option to take heroes (same idea, but you could customise their skills) was added with Nightfall when the game was still going strong.

I’m sure some people said it was dying when that feature was announced and that’s why they did it. I’m equally sure some people said it was dying when Nightfall was first announced, and Factions and every major update before and after because that’s how some people react to absolutely everything a developer does.

GW1 didn’t cover all of the areas implied by its maps; I don’t expect GW2 to cover them all either. There’s just too much acreage (hectarage?) to cover and too few resources.

Plus, there’s possibly as much demand to push into new areas as there are to cover the implied spaces.
