I understand he/she/you would prefer the game check all possible characters on an account; I don’t know how feasible that would be, nor how resource-intensive.
Good, I’m glad to see that you did actually understand OP’s point, despite responding as though you did not.
The fact remains that the feature (for characters interacting) is there. I have no idea if the OP was aware.
Good luck.
Given that the tag per character is actually prominently visible on any recipe already unlocked on that character, and that OP took the time to make a post suggesting that ANet spend resources creating a tag to show which recipes are locked/unlocked, we can all agree to read OP as he/she intended us to read it (and as you admittedly read it to begin with).
Good luck.
One should not assume that anyone has figured out the obvious.
I work at an office supply store that sells printers. We had someone call in today saying their printer they bought didn’t come with the starter cartridges.
Our tech suggested they look in the styrofoam. The cartridges were in the styrofoam. You would think that looking at everything in the printer box would be obvious when looking for something that should have come with something, but obviously not.
You also have to consider the environment. Jormags domain is arguably more challenging with the intense cold/raging blizzards and the power of Jormag must be pretty intense since the native people – Kodan Norn, Quaggan all fled south. Whereas in Maguuma, the Hylek tribes, the Dry Top Centaurs, the Skritt and even the Chakk remain.
Same with Bubbles. Karka and Krait driven out despite being formidable species.
Strategically Primordus’s location makes him much more formidable. Getting access to underground is much more limiting and bottlenecked, whilst he could be anywhere deep down.
If Kralk his bordering Elona, that brings us closer to Palawas armies and that throws up more challenges.
That’s just the basics, as someone said, good story writing could throw up any number of factors individual to each dragon not known of so far.
You are right, OP. The horse has made things more uncomplicated, no doubt about it. After the horse, came the steam engine, then fossil engines, now solar engines.
If you are like me, you see a a pattern in this. In case that you don´t see it, here it comes:
A teleportation device make a mount obsolete if teleportation devices are readily available. And if it does not make it obsolete in every sense, it makes it something that is used by people who explore the wildnerness to set up teleportation circles or where said teleport does not work for whatever reason.
Of course you could argue that a reasonable humanoid would still employ horses for day to day activity like patrolling within the reach of said teleportation devices for rapid responde, or to help with farming. But for all things heroic, I simply don´t see much use for it.
Why wasn’t this merged a long time ago?
Sigh.
Not even going to bother reading through the first few pages.
Mounts are pointless in this game.
And just like glider skins no doubt they’d only be available in the cash shop for probably $25 EACH.
But money isn’t the point, the actual point is the following:
- Waypoints
- Asura Gates
- Teleport to Friend
- The what-feels-like-a-million-other-instant-teleport-to-this-location teleport scrolls in the game
- UI instant access to areas such as PvP & WvW
- 33% Swiftness Boon
- Skills such as Superspeed (50% “swiftness”)
Although cosmetically speaking, sure riding a horse would be interesting but the point is moot when we have all these MUCH MORE VIABLE options already available.
I wonder what the opportunity costs would be to create new animations for almost every skill in the game so that they would work for mounted combat?
Seems likely to have a pretty significant resource cost.
What would we not get because resources were allocated to this idea?
There are other things that I would rather see ANet focus on. I am not opposed, in principle, to the idea of mounts in GW2, or even of mounted combat, but I’d rather see other things first.
No to mounts. No, they won’t ‘save’ the game. Why? I don’t care for the reasons posted for wanting them.
Posting so the Devs can see.
The “old time” player that has been around since GW1 can tell you how the game has done a 180 since launch.
I hate to think of it, as it makes me sad. GW1’s mechanics were not broken at all, but everything about those mechanics have been completely forsaken in this sequel.
ya on the dandelion to sand conversion.
for jeweler 500, its more than just making cheap ascended jewelry, its about making the stats we cant currently get as ascended, potentially mixing two stats on one item and making either all defensive or all offensive infusion slot trinkets.
Beyond the trinkets though, I think they can and will make jeweler more relevant in the future. Its probably the most underappreciated/underperforming crafting line atm. Id like to see visible jewelry at crafting 500 ;-)
Gold sellers is not a serious excuse to lock your playerbase behind a paywall.
Now, why would ANet want to deter gold selling in GW2? It’s not as if illicit gold-selling had serious repercussions in hacked accounts for their customers. It’s not as if gold sellers were directly competing with ANet for one of the services Anet offers.
Oh, wait. Looks like a really serious reason after all.
All they would have to do is put gliding into the core game somehow….. like allow ppl to glide around in LA….. and all the f2p players would ooh and aah over it.
Runescape did it this way…. where the pay to play players could show off their p2p shinies to the f2p players….. but hey…. lets just lock everything behind a pay wall and not even allow the f2p ppl to take a look through the keyhole to see whats on the other side.
The game is still pay to play. The f2p model is nothing more then a glorified trial version, which is good imo, because it allows people to actually play and test the game, before they decide should they buy it or not. There was not such an option before. Most people buying it were taking a -leap of faith- more or less with a little information provided by websites and youtube videos. The f2p now is more then enough to someone who did not payed anything.
Speaking of Youtube… did it occur to you f2p players can use the tons of videos to have that sneak peek through the keyhole you are talking about?
Well, I’ve been apart of the game for quiet some time now, I just got my “faithful” title and I’ve been talking about how amazing the game is and how its now free for people to join! I had gotten a good friend of mine to join the game, and so far so good.
The thing is, the F2P mode is lacking so much content..if you’re gonna make the game free for new players why take out basic things that pretty much all F2P games have?
I get it, it used to be that you had to pay for the game to play it, and its got a LOT of content. But come on, map chat, trading in the market, messaging players items/gold. Seriously?
His own quote, “Feeling bullied into buying the expansion.” basically says it all. Its like in order to fully enjoy the game you have to ultimately buy it anyways.
This needs to change, I was extremely upset to hear him say that he might just drop the game because of this. Perhaps he’ll want to buy the game if the game showed more…content? He’s limited in certain aspects, and its completely unfair to new players. You want people to buy the expansion, don’t go and limit them to what they can do!
I dunno if I’m the only one with this opinion, but I am very disapointed.
Of course it’s lacking, that’s the whole point with a trial account like F2P.
Did you think Anet gave away these accounts for free because they they are so generous?
I really dont understand these types of threads.
HOT is an expansion of the game .
Its not THE game.
You arnt forced to play it .
WOWs F2P model only lets you go to L20, and theres a lot of the world you will never see as a F2P player.
Too many ppl just want everything for nothing.
The biggest misunderstanding in this comes smack from Arena Net’s poor marketing skills.
The F2P version is a TRIAL for the game, the game is still buy to play, but they allow you to play a substantial part of the game for free, with a few restrictions.
The game is buy to play, make no mistake, the peek into the keyhole you’re asking for is the whole F2P thing.
. but this won’t last as the ‘hardcore’ are the ones that burn out the fastest.
