why do raid discriminate classes?

I mean, if that is your personal choice go for it, no one will stop you from not playing raids. What i will absolutely stop you from doing is taking my quote out of context to enable you to self destruct the thread because you hate everything raids stand for and refuse to work with others.

Wasn’t out of context. You gave OP advice to play with like-minded people. Raiders are not like-minded.
Just look at this very thread – all raiders (including everyone that assert that you can do raids with more relaxed group compositions) basically told OP that he was in the wrong and that by playing warrior in a group that already had two others he was causing the group to fail. So, by saying that OP should play with like-minded people to avoid class discrimination in raids, you basically told him to not raid.

Could you kindly pull whatever hatred you have for the word raid out of this conversation and just stop and logically think about what you just said ?

No, really pause. Stop.

The OP has several other options beyond not raiding. That is literally going to the extreme end because your vitriol for raids is making you daft and blind to other options.

The Op could

A) Join a guild that raids (there are several)
B) Have been accommodating and swapped to anything else to help the training run.
C) Form their own group without restrictions
D) Literally any combination of the above

But yet you jump to not raiding…I just don’t even anymore. If you don’t want to raid fine, but stop superimposing yourself into every conversation, it’s not about you and your unwillingness to raid.

You started being aggressive in TS after being repeatedly told to stick with the group. Now I don’t know if you or commander was right about tactics (not a raider), but wouldn’t it be a better idea to just stay with group? Even if you wipe you’d have a better chance to explain how it should be and kill the boss in second time.

the thing is glenna was down the stairs about 600 units away from me at top of stairs as long as you stay between 900 and 600 units away the boss wont hit glenna.

you know why stack? buffs and kill fast not because Glenna not getting targeted.. I think they kick u for good reason

buff takes less then 30 secs to get adds and adds kill glenna in less then 20 seconds
fight takes at least 2 mins you do maths

And now we start to see why you got kicked…

Doesn’t matter in this case. Raid lead asked you multiple times to stack with the group, if Glenna was going to get nuked due to fear stacks which only summon adds that will not necessarily insta-kill her, let the Raid Lead take the blame.

The group knew more than you in this instance, please let this be a lesson.

was kicked from raid cause i was only one standing near glenna when commander said everyone stack on boss and everyone was out of range and glenna was getting debuff.
wonder if it is reportable cause commander wouldnt listen.

we did Glenna on Monday leaving her alllllllll alone and just focus on the boss. she was fine. only pretend to be scared.
if everyone told you to go to stack up, u should go. its called team work! :P

No explanation of why you were so toxic to the rest of your team? Sounds to me like they did a good job in kicking you if that’s how you were acting.

I said “I’m better at running because I wear Knight gear”. They called me noob and kicked me out of the squad just because I play the way I want.

You can play the way you want, but that doesn’t mean everyone else is forced to play with you.

In group content the group is making the rules and if the group decides to use most efficient gear you either use it or you don’t fit in that group. If you want to make your own rules start your own own group.

Nonono, OP is a poor misunderstood chap who was only trying to help, while the big bad toxic community jumped on him and kicked him! True story! It’s not like he came to the forums to spread lies about a raid group and try to make the raid community appear as evil when in fact he was 100% to blame?! Who would do such a ghastly thing?! The raiding community is soo toxic and wrong, amirite?

This right here is the issue folks, there are so many people like this it’s unbelievable. This is why people have trust issues in dungeons, fractals and raids (mostly raids), they have to deal with this kind of people.

Kicking at the end of the fight is indeed a bit of a kitten move, however assuming that the additional info about YOUR behaviour is correct then I can at least see why it happened. Unless you organise the raid yourself, you simply do not yolo away on your own as that may screw everyone else over

During boss fight if you leave Glenna alone at the stairs and everyone stack at the door she wont die.
So yeah like other ppl said, when you join a group you listen to the commander and don’t try to be smart.
I have seen many fails coz ppl think they are smart and keep trying to do things their way.
When you join a pug you follow the commander strategy, if you want to do things your way you can make your own team

I was in his raid, so let me explain the whole story why he got kicked.

On the last part when the boss spawn, the commander told everyone to stack on the boss and kill the warg as it spawns. When OP refused to do so and he stood next to Glenna, the commander asked him a few more times, OP started yelling on teamspeak because he thought what he did was right. The commander told him again (after he yelled at the commander on TS) it would be ok to move away from Glenna at that point, the debuff does not kill the npc but if he keep standing next the npc, the boss might teleport to him and kill the npc. He started raising his voice and keep yelling on TS. At that point, it was really stressful for everyone in the raid, so the commander decided to kick him from the raid.

For some reason I’m not surprised that op was the toxic person in this situation and deserved a kick + blacklist from any future raid parties.

This right here. People claiming that raid group are just toxic, i pug very often and raid group are almost always really nice people to spek on TS or disc.
Normally the people that get kicked, claim that raid groups are toxic, are the one that have really bad behavior

^

At the end of the day (especially pugs) a commander (or whoever is nominated as the leader) is the one responsible for making the right call. Otherwise, it would be chaotic trying to keep up with the direction and opinions of 10 individual players.

If I were in OP’s shoes I probably would have second guessed him myself if I was adamant about my experience with the encounter. But, then again, I’m not leading the group so I’d begrudgingly go along with his direction. If he was right? Sweet, we killed the boss, and I learned something new! If he was wrong? Other than a quiet “I told you so” it becomes a learning experience for everyone.

Does that mean that the commander is right 100% of the time. No, not at all. We’re all human. Does that mean we have to listen to the commander at 100% of the time. Absolutely. Again, that guy is responsible for committing the group to a final decision in a moment’s notice so that the group can quickly adapt to whatever is going on.

The answers here clearly demonstrate the general intolerance and impatience you’ll be faced with by playing raids. Those saying he should have been kicked, really? This is literally baby’s first wing, anyone can type the explanation for this part while facetanking the kittening boss, and most stuff is done over voice anyway.

But alas, you also sounded very unwilling to have a dialogue there, considering how they cold kicked you. If you were all there communicating with each other properly you’d have discussed out that you should stay close to Glenna at all times so she doesn’t die, and the commander would have correctly informed you that the Warg could be focused at that time without worrying about the debuff. This case looks like most other cases, where neither side communicated clearly before the beginning of the content.

That said, it is wrong that they kicked you even if you didn’t communicate much since the raid started; intolerance and impatience shouldn’t be met with even more of it. But it will keep happening, because the answers you got from this thread are just a hint of the general raid population, so just try and lay out the plan very clearly to people even if they are a supposedly “exp” group (e.g “hey guys so just to get it straight we’re keeping someone close to Glenna at all times right?”). Better be kicked before the raid even starts if you say something they deem unnaceptable to their almighty experience, than to lose 20 mins like you said.

The point you are missing, and most are and it was pointed by Incognito.3529 is that the boss could kill Glenna, the raid leader asked him to go with everyone ( it was not a kick without saying anything), he refused and by doing what he was doing he could made Glenna die and the raid wipe. So before the raid wiped and as pointed OP was not listening and willing to follow, the raid leader made the right choice of kicking him.

Exactly, before the OP was wasting the time of ten players the comander did the right choice so only one person had to waste his time.
Good move from the leader, he did it for the group, not to be elitist or toxic against the single player.

Please go back to the old legendary system

Disregarding that whole thing, though… Even though I’m one with absolutely zero interest in ever creating a legendary, I agree with this. If the precursor journey is what takes so much development time (which is almost certainly is) then I’d be just fine with them writing the idea off as too time consuming / unrealistic and returning to the random drop precursors in order to introduce more legendaries. At the very least finishing the “set” that HoT started.

On some level it’d be disappointing since the precursor journey / crafting was a much requested feature. And its hard to admit something was overambitious and ultimately unsustainable. But there’s a point when its too costly to “stick to your guns” and I think just shutting down legendary development altogether passes that threshold.

Stating personal assumptions, as facts is never a good thing. We simply do not know what is the cause for taking long time to develop new legendaries. Also, as someone who, as you stated, have zero interest in getting a legendary this should not matter to you at all.

It was pointed out already and I will second that – the new method is much more improved, fun and satisfying. What did a legendary stood for before? That you dumped 1k gold or more into the mystic forge or that you got a lucky drop? Well not very impressive, imo. Now with the new method you need to do Open world pve, pvp, wvw, fractals, dungeons, do meta events in the new maps, complete masteries to collect all the required tiers on top of gathering and crafting all the rest of the materials. The collection even encourage you to return to places that you probably havent visited in ages, since you got that map completion. That shows, as pointed out already a dedication for the game and its content. It shows that you have been there, done that and you have something in the end that feels rewarding for your efforts, instead of just “Woaah, finally my 1k gold dump paid off, now off to grind the rest of the gold.”

The number of hours you’ve played doesn’t really matter. It depends on what you’ve been doing in that time, because precursors only drop from certain things.

Someone like the OP who apparently combines a lot of rares/exotics in the Mystic Forge has a much higher chance of getting a precursor than someone like me who maybe does it once or twice a year, when I have equipment I can’t sell or salvage.

Likewise someone who does all the world bosses every day will have a much higher chance than someone who spends most of their time doing story instances on low level characters. And someone who spends almost all their time afk or chatting in town has almost no chance.

Having a version of the bow available in GW2 does not invalidate by any means the prestige of obtaining it in GW1. GW2’s setting and lore are based in the lore/history/narrative of GW1, but it is a different game and deserves to be treated as such. Why not consider it a tribute instead of a tarnishing?

~EW

I don’t think anyone will see any gemstore item as a amazing tribute. There’s always alot less emotional value for items that you can simply buy, even with items that have a “long” history in the lore.

People like to play the game and either randomly get this drop, work for it or some other reward, as opposed to a tacked on gemstore skin, because that’s not what the game is about for them.

Then again I don’t see it as a huge disaster if they put gw1 skins into the gemstore too much. Maybe a bit of a shame but I don’t see ArenaNet having the resources to put some collection or questionline in for every old weapon skin or armor skin.

This stormbow doesn’t look much like the original one beyond the basic shape. What made it look different and cool in GW1 is completely gone in this version.

The low-poly mesh?
The translucent texture that tries and fails to convey lightning?
Not looking like it’s for a PS1 game?

To me, it looks exactly like what the original Storm Bow was trying to be, but with not-garbage graphics.

This is exactly the kind of Stephen-King-Lovecraftian stuff I was expecting from this game since ever, only I was expecting it from the Deep Sea Dragon, but that works too. Great storytelling job right there to lay hints and details around instead of throwing everything for us to feed on (kind of like the Souls series and I love that).
