This is still haven’t been fixed. I have gone back and took pictures to show what is happening. Picture one shows I have finished all requirements for the personal story. The second picture shows how I can walk up to Steelbane and have the option to talk to him, but he does not bring up a dialogue box.

I’m not the only one having this problem.

So far I’ve retried this personal quest, but after defeating the guards, the champion, and the scorpion/spider, there is a cut scene of Steelbane and company moving into the arena. After that there should be one of Steelbane coming into the ring to fight, but it doesn’t show up. Instead, you just get stuck in the arena. Can’t move or open the doors and if you speak to Steelbane he really doesn’t say anything. I’ve watched a video on youtube for this quest and I’m supposed to defeat Steelbane to finish it. I am also a Charr ranger in the blood alliance at level 16. Help please?

Please you must find a way to fix this. Maybe letting us force the dialogue scene by talking to Steelblade would be nice.

I understand about the various Npc’s Illconceived Was Na.9781 and totally understand with regards to them and share your same view of them being set up that way. But as stated since Reknown hearts are soloable so too should be access to the vendor store afterwards.

I have 100% world map complete now on 2 char’s so I have done every single heart twice and this is the only vendor I have had this issue with so I guess I have been lucky with all the other heart people or simply helped them with their event without realising it. So thanks for the heads up there Saya.

PS – the Npc I am referring to does not move from his location and is in no way hindered by the event as the enemy and his army is some distance away. He mearly just mentions about the event in much the same way most other non important npc’s do when they run up to you trying to gain your attention. It’ just seems that the “view vendor” option disables when this event is ongoing.

There are a number of NPCs that are not available during events, notably in various places around Orr. There is are some crafting stations that are also disabled under similar circumstances.

Consequently, I think this is intended behavior and if you want to get ANet to address it, your best bet is to start a new thread in the Suggestions forum.

I like the idea that events can affect which NPCs/services are available; I think it makes the game more dynamic and interesting. However, I agree with the OP’s implied point that a single player should be able to do something to re-activate the NPC or service. I can think of three solutions that would resolve the issue:

  1. As suggested by the OP, make it less likely that the services will be disable, e.g. by moving the relevant NPCs farther from the battle lines.
  2. Make it easier to restore services, e.g. by scaling down the fight difficulty to the number of players.
  3. Give the relevant NPC a dialogue option that will encourage them to move to a safe-for-business location, e.g. “Psst. I have some goods available for sale — meet me around the corner.”
John Smith: “you should kill monsters, because killing monsters is awesome.”

I checked Tarnished Coast – same thing. The area is Crystalswept Groves and the quest is Defeat Victurus and his Branded army. It’s a group event.

Well the thing is if someone from Anet sees this post and looks into it I am sure the information I have already given is plenty for them to do so. :P

I discovered this problem because as I have been playing the game I have been making vendor and karma vendor lists to help me train skills like cooking etc. This is the only one I am missing in the whole game! I have a feeling this vendor may sell oranges which I really need more of lol……..

In the Iron marches there is 1 particular karma vendor who after completing the heart you can not access his store if a certain boss is up. What happens is he just mumbles on about the boss being up and to go and kill it. The vendor’s name is Jaggedclaw (sorry I forget the rest of his name). I did report this by using the in game bug report over a month ago and since then nothing has changed so I started to worry that this was intenional.

Now this boss is a champion who also has a group of 20 sidekicks with him so he is NOT easily dealt with. Also no other heart reknown vendor in the entire game requires you to have a group to complete any part of it or to access the store. So this really tells me that this should not be intentional. Also I very much doubt that this vendor has anything amazing that would require you to go through so much effort. “Why is this so much effort” you might say? “Ask for a group or get a gang to deal with him”. When I first noticed this situation it was while I was on my first playthrough of the game with my first character. Back then pretty much all the maps were crowded with people and you would hit the overflow very often. So back then sure yes this MIGHT have been possible but now, well you know the story most of these maps are empty. Now the reason I put MIGHT in bold just then was because even back then when I did go through on my first guy when the map was crowded I DID call for/ask for an extermination team from map chat so I could access the store. Sadly I got no response the few times I called for one.

So in summary, I seriously believe that if this is intentional to please reconsider. As I said no other heart requirement or access to the store after requires you to need a group (for a champion boss with 20 sidekicks I am assuming a sized 10+ group would be needed) to do so. Sure I know that there are vendors in Orr that require this to access their stores and their amazing armour skins. But in these cases they are NOT karma vendors/hearts. Which is why I assume they are not reknown vendors because the intenion for the last 3 maps in Orr is to NEED to group to access/do certain things, unlike all the maps before that do feature hearts.

Happened to me too, and it might be caused by situations when your skill bar gets changed to something else. As I remember, the first time it happened to me was when I got out of a keg brawl match, and another time when I got off a mortar.

It happens to me too sometimes, and to some of my friends. Very annoying.

And, I don’t know if this is related, but sometimes the mouse just stops working. It happened to my wife and to some friends of mine. We tried 2 mouses but nothing worked. Then we rebooted the pc and it fixed it. Could it be that the game somehow messes up with the usb driver?

Same on Miller’s Sound. I waited 3 hours, destroyed all the portals, spawned the two veteran-portals… nothing happened.

Same here on Vizunah Square.
I’ve been waiting for now 12 hours in the Godslost Swamp and I haven’t seen any event. The swamp is always dormant. I will be gratefull if a dev could confirm this is a bug so I can move somewhere else.

It seems that many players (myself included) are having a devil of a time trying to get the Shadow Behemoth to spawn, as discussed in this thread. I myself have waited around in Queensdale for 5 hours without ever seeing the Swamp shift past the “dormant” stage. (Some players have reported waiting for even longer!) We’re now wondering if something might be bugged with the quest chain that is causing it not to start.

Could a dev look into this and check whether something is indeed broken? It may help us if you give us a hint as to what it is that triggers the start of the event, so that more players can help test.


For the players, post here with your server if you have not seen the Shadow Behemoth or his meta-event chain start despite waiting in or around the Swamp for more than 2 or 3 hours. That way, if it is a bug, the devs can probably jump-start individual servers.

Logging Out to Avoid PVP Death

Just recently noticed a whole bunch of our opponents (wont name servers) logging out to avoid dying in PVP. They are quite funny when they do it, because they typically auto-run in a direction to avoid getting hit. Clearly they are alt-f4’ing or typing quit or something.

You can tell they are alt-f4’ing out because their characters disappear entirely from the world and combat breaks. Combat breaks typically require a few seconds for the enemy to leave the vicinity or to be dead and we may or may not have even touched them.

The reason this is a problem is players are doing this to avoid repairs and to “anger” their opponents.

Typically in a tier 1 matchup you’d find this being a disadvantage, because you’d have to wait through a queue to get back in. However, due to the significant beating our matchup is getting its likely they do not have a queue at all. Thus, they can afford to alt-f4, login, instantly get back into EB and then proceed back to wherever it was they came from.

I’m suggesting that you add a 30 second gap from when they logged out, where their character is still up and able to be killed. The players would suffer the same damage to their gear, and the players who killed them would still get loot bags (if applicable).

It’s a minor issue, but players who earned a kill deserve the rewards and those who got into a bad situation deserve the consequences of their misplay.

while doing personal story i dont like that npc greets me every time i start a conversation with it. this is because it greets me with some random sentence that has nothing to o with the personal story. it would be best to turn it off completely.

The way levelscaling is implemented at the moment is pretty useless. Unless drops, karma and xp rewards will be affected by the players lvl, going back to low lvl regions will only be of interest for finishing said region. I am currently getting my 100% on all regions and I tend to ignore events (unless I need them for my daily) because frankly it isn’t worth the effort. This really needs to be overthought imho!

Would be awosome to have something like the WoW Barber shop to change the looks of your toon.

While not a most have feature, it surely would be apreciated by a lot of people.

I have saw allready a lot of very creative players on this game that are able to do wonderfull things with the cosmetics available.

would be nice to have a couple of extra tools to help with it.

They need to implement this soon. Not for a sex change but definitely need to change character hairstyle and might as well skin color too…made an Asura with the headband style and cannot change the color of it…very frustrating so I want to get rid of that.

Might be actually , i mean as long as dont change race, char gender makes little dif.
That said , all my char got either female/male names , would make not sense for me to use this.

Just something simple as 4 size stages (same model just a physical size difference) and naming would do…

Baby – stage 1 (tamed – 20 hours play time)
Juvenile – stage 2 (20 – 40 hours)
Adult – stage 3 (40 – 60 hours)
Elder – stage 4 (60+ hours)

Doesnt have to have any stat changes per stage, but would show which players have taken the time to raise their captured pets.

Add the possibility for Ranger pets to grow up based on age (hours played).

“grow up” = increase in size like Eir Stegalkin’s black wolf.
