I ended up making mine bald cause I liked none of them
Not that bald asura look bad, bald is probably the best asura hairstyle right now
Loving the Asura ,though the lack of hairstyles compared to other races is a shame. Please give us more! Hows about a mohawk asura for a start
Being azura i dont need to show a pic since im obvious the best looking thing in the whole world
The lighting in most games will “bleach” a character, washing out details in their skin tone. This is doubly so for any game with light bloom or glare or any other fancy light effects.
As such, you get the best detail (visible from a distance, of course: the only way other players see you) with a darker skin tone. And given the nature of asuran skin choices, the higher contrast your pattern, the better (usually).
That said, I picked a dark reddish-brown (I also wanted color, not grayscale) with a light blue-ish pattern (the blue is unnoticeable on the red skin, though).
“I am only detectable by the aftermath of my annihilation.”
Hi everyone.
Soon I’ll join Asuran community by doing Asura Mesmer !
I’ve got kind of overall look of char but…
What skin color to take ? this is seriously bugging me out.
I’ve tried something similiar to Zojja’s color – kind of brown/light brown.
Then i’ve gone nuggat and a bit darker brown.
Tho I can’t really see any of these asuras around.
Seems like most of them uses Light gray/gray or blue/light blue with porcelian…
But those bright colours seem to blind my eyes…
What colors did you take and why ?
My favorite quote from asuran progeny:
“I had a pet turtle, but it died in an experiment”
[ ex- Piken Square (EU), ex- Aurora Glade (EU) ]
Well, some more evidence that they’re evil…
They enslave and experiment on ettins at one point!
on my asura if i dont use a helm my neck has wired flabby folds and distorted skin.
yes on char select screen and hero pane it looks normal.
has any 1 else experianced this problem. makes me not want to hide my helm ever :’(
Fractal lvl 80 – 126 AR
Make one of each, go through the tutorial up to like the first storyline mission, and see which one has better animations, voice acting, etc. Also, the wide hips is mostly an illusion because the armor is designed for humanoids- Asura look best in their cultural armor, so get to rata sum and preview it on your character. The top right, and bottom left female body types look pretty decent when you get out of the starter gear.
I went with female mostly due to the voice. And the pigtails.

Hi.
From the scratch.
I’ve done 2 asuras both as good looking as possible. Tho I have a problem.
My fem Asura looks really amazing with face/eyes/ear shape I picked but no matter what body type I choose They seem to look a bit hmm to big in the hips&butt areas… Armor almost each armor seems to be huge there and stands out from the body.
While male asura looks more lined up… and probably by my small research Male asura weapons looks a bit bigger.
And honestly this “thing” that they done to female hips&butt area is just imo horrible. I understand thet female need to have a “ kitten #8221; but they gone to far with it…
And now i stuck in a point on my character selection screen sayin to myself:
“ kitten that Female is so cute…. But male got more and better lined up body… and fem hairstyles are better etc…”
How did You guys handled that choice?
Cause i seriously can’t. While I’ve made some armor previews on both asuras at front female looks better in almost any armor due to wonderfull face&hairstyle but from the 3rd person perspective male seems to be looking better…
And i stuck… cuz male faces meh…
Or is there any possible body build/heigh to pick to minimalize this ? on fem asura

I believe I remember hearing that the problem with the GW1 story, is now we have no historical way to refer to your character. In my story, I know that Klawlyt lead the Ascalonians to Kryta and eventually took on the Titans et al, but now in GW2, we have no way of referring to a constant who did those things (though I’d be ok with letting Mehnlo and Eve have the credit). I think The World’s Least Exciting Plant was put there so that way, in the greater narrative of Tyria, we could refer to Trehearne as the one who took down Zhaitan.
That being said, yeah the personal story really did drop off after Claw Island. I love love love GW lore, have been 80 since 2 weeks after launch, and still haven’t bothered to finish my personal story.
No sympathy for the Devil, keep that in mind.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.
Agreed – I was kinda disappointed how ‘nice’ my Asura became beginning with that point >_>
And as much as I like Trahearne…yeah, this WAS supposed to be MY story. It is still nicely told, and I’m really happy about him finally completing his wyld hunt -and hunting down Zhaitan…but I’d like to be a little more important. Even though random NPC in the world are recognizing me as a hero from time to time
Yeah that’s one thing GW1 did well, it made you feel important. GW2 makes you seem like just some random dude following the zerg from one random encounter to the next (not that it isn’t fun, it’s just not a great story). I think they could have struck a better balance. I do hope Anet will learn from this and focus expansions more on that epic story experience that they did so well in GW1.
Don’t worry after the Order storyline it transforms into someone else’s personal story (Traehern’s story) you just become his lackey.
Except for the dungeons and finale; which are a soap opera about a bunch’ve has-been adventurers still bickering about the good old days.
Between Trehearne, destiny’s edge and the fact the final battle is a team effort where you team is nothing more than bystanders in the wrong place at the right time to help it’s pretty clear this isn’t your story
I’d been happier if they hadn’t tried pretend it was, and just made it clear I’m another faceless pact soldier. I can dig war stories from the perspective of a grunt too

I highly recommend walking away and getting a drink or snack or going to the bathroom during the cut scenes during the post order storyline as it just falls off the cliff.
That’s a bummer.
Yeah. I was rather surprised they went to the trouble of hiring different voice actors, yet shoehorning the exact same dialogue into each.
I can confirm they are, my charr and my asura both say the exact same lines once they get onto the main arc quests with the exception of the occasional shout-out to returning characters (ie. Gorr) who they respond to differently if they knew each other in their personal events
Garnished Toast
Yeah, I hate this too.
It was already irritating enough that my Asura main apparently uses inferior Charr weaponry rather than quality Asuran technology, now he suddenly starts sounding like a generic hero once I joined the Vigil (due to the Priory proving their incompetence during an introduction mission.)
I’m effectively finished with the personal story unless I end up needing some quick xp down the line.

Basically, your race isn’t accounted for after you join an order. By then, you’re funneled into order specific dialogues, so they probably just gave the voice actors the same scripts instead of race specific ones per order, so 6 dialogue options instead of 30 (male/female times order vs male/female times race times order)
There’s a race-specific phase and unfortunately the quality of the personal story just drops off after that period. Just be thankful you started with the awesome Asura storylines and didn’t meet Trahearne early on like anyone playing Sylvari would have done.

Has anyone noticed this?
One of the things I like most about Asura is their attitude/outlook. I love the arrogance, superiority, insults, the witty writing, etc. Metrica Province has it in spades, and generally so does the 1 – 20 personal story.
However, once I join an Order? Based on how my Asuran speaks, you’d have no idea she wasn’t human. So respectful to everyone, kind, selfless, goody two-shoes heroic stuff. It is exactly the opposite of what I thought I signed up for as an Asura.
For example, I joined the Priory. Gixx is exactly the type of Asura I wanted to be, but I’m nothing like him. In fact, I seem to be the only Asura who isn’t like Gixx. Even Zojja gets to be more rude than me.
I have no idea who my character is in my “personal” story. It certainly isn’t the one I want.
Sylvari will probably drink anything once, even if only to be able to say that they experienced it and tell other Sylvari all about it.
Racist? Yes. Chauvinistic? Yes again. More so than the Charr? Nope.
If you are to choose culture by ideology, only the Sylvari are left as a truly acceptable choice.
What the Asura content brings to the table though is a lot of self irony. The race was made for people who enjoy laughing at their own blunders just as much as laughing at anything else that is fun. If you can say “It’s hilldarious how silly I look when jumping!” thn the Asura are for you. Again, if you are likely to laugh at how full of themselves the npcs and your character are, then the Asura are or you. If you want to see npcs that are full of themselves but your reaction is “epic!”, then you should choose a Charr or Norn
Are Asura racist and chauvinistic? I want to play as Asura, but I don’t approve their ideology. They think they are better then other races, and as we can read on wiki: “Other races believe they should rule by virtue of their power and strength, but they’re deluding themselves. In due time, ALL WILL SERVE THE ASURA.”
What are your opinions?

The only reason I don’t play a Charr, is because their male don’t have proper feline looking heads like the female do.
Most male Charr heads look more canine than feline.
As for Asura, I just dislike them, I just like Sylvari, Humans and Norn so much more
I’d make a Tengu if they become available.
Same for Kodan.
Velg, there is an article somewhere on the official site with a graph. That graph is outdated though, and apparantly there are even less Asura/Charr now.
Sorry for the little OT – but been searching for statistics on most / less played races etc. for a while (I’d swear I saw them somewhere) – could you point me to them?
yes… for a game that focus mainly on cosmetic items, Asura is getting the shaft big time…
The only piece of gear that people can actually notice on an asura is his helm… other than that the rest of the gears are pretty much unnoticeable.
It’s hard to fix the armor since Asura are small afterall.. but at least let people notice our weapons…. I can barely see my weapons model..
My friend’s tiny Asura looks cute and funny, and I’d love to see he wields a disproportional huge greatsword too. That’d be hilarious and Asura-ish ~~
