Why not going one step forward and bringing back the pockets?

F1 : Steal
F2-F4 (F5 traited) are pockets.

And when you steal something, it goes to the first empty pocket. And when you use anything in a pocket, so you can’t get all them filled then spam, they all share a cooldown every time one is used.

Let’s split some issues:
Firstly, you opened a ticket for a good reason and didn’t get a reply. I want you to read this thread carefully: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Delayed-or-No-Ticket-Reply-Read-This

Specially the part bout spamfolders and stuff like that.
If you really didn’t get a reply saying anything more then “we are investigating this” (also read below what the answer should be).

If you really didn’t get a reply then you want to put up your ticketnumber for review here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/GW2-Tickets-for-Review-3-days-older-1

The answer you should get is that your name is put on a list that is provided tot the devs. The ticket is then closed without any compensation.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Portal-Stone-and-No-Slot/page/2

At the moment there is no official word bout compensation. I think it is outragious you even asked for a legendary chest. You should be ashamedfor that!!

Proper compensation (if any is given!) should be access to a beta event in the future. nothing more or less!

Arise, ye farmers of all nations
Arise, opressed of Tyria!

Where is promised challenging HOT content?

Simply put: we haven’t announced it yet – when we’re ready to show everything about our plans for challenging content for HoT, we’ll announce it.

Though it isn’t the “challenging content” feature discussed in our announcement – I will add we want our open world content experience to be more challenging as well just in general. Though the AI was better in our CBT experience – we think we still have a lot of work to do to get our creatures and encounters even at the start of Verdant Brink up to where we want them to be. Our game has great combat, our creatures and encounters should challenge and require you to use that combat system.

More info “when it’s ready”.

"DragonHunter" name feedback [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: purecontact.1680

purecontact.1680

I don’t like Dragonhunter, here is why :

First point:
I think this name doesn’t fit in the guardian’s archetype

Hunter is in the rogue archetype.
Guardian is in the soldier archetype.

No matter how you twist it, the “hunter” name will stay in the rogue archetype.

You can make a hunter wearing heavy armor, using mace and shield or light magic, it will always be in the rogue archetype:
Hunter” is connoted and you can’t break this connotation just because of your background: it won’t fit better to a soldier than a rogue archetype.

Second point:
It is very hard to justify this name

Dragon is a specific enemy.
By using this prefix, you close a lot of doors.
I see a centaur attacking my allies but nope, I won’t kill it because it is set in stone: I’m a Dragonhunter/slayer/bane/knight/whatever
I got that Dragon means Evil in Tyria but Witch hunter didn’t hunt bandits or scoundrels and as I have my root in the Guardian’s archetype, I have to keep defending people from this kind of enemies (or hunt them, the main purpose of this spec).

The only way to justify that a Dragoninsertname attack something which isn’t related to Dragon is to say that you have draconic magic in the game and a specialization use this magic.
It can fit with Silvary but it won’t fit with any of the other races.

Third point:
It is a very confusing name

Dragonhunter is both generic and specific.

It’s generic because like a lot people said : we tracked mordremoth during season 2 and that make all of us dragonhunter.

It’s very specific because you gave this class a specific goal : hunting dragons (and all their minions) and like I said before, it closes doors.

Why Sentinel should prevail:

Gameplay
Sentinel adapts to the soldier archetype.
Sentinel wears heavy armour and a longbow.
Sentinel sets traps to defend his camp.
Sentinel tracks intruders.

Background
Sentinels are border guard.
During wartime however the Border guard withdraw from the Border outposts and provide assistance in a limited capacity to the country’s regular army.
Wartime assistance of the Border guard to the Army is essential as they are familiar with the local terrain having patrolled it on a daily basis during peacetime.

It makes sense:
We are in a war against mordremoth, Guardian pursue mordrem intruders from inside frontier to the maguuma jungle.
They have to specialize themselves into Sentinels, becoming familiar with jungle threats.

As a sentinel, you learned how to prepare a battleground efficiently (traps) and how to always keep an advantage on your enemies (longbow).
Moreover, your mastery in this specialization allows you to keep enemies under control until allies comes (immobilize, cripple, stun).

As as sentinel, you’re not a lonely hunter tracking dragons/enemies, you’re a part of a team.

Extra!
-There is no religious connotation.
-It is flat enough to set up the roleplay that the player want.

This ^
(Even if you don’t like the name Sentinel, this post explain pretty well the “dragonhunter problem”)

Yeah, Sentinel fixes all of the problems. And you don’t even have to change the skins/skills. Just go for the “it’s an intimidation tactic” and it’s done.

GW2 isn’t WoW. They give us new content CONSTANTLY! Guess how much of that content has been something that you had to buy… None of it. What’s the issue here? If you just love the game and want to support them, there is some really cool stuff in the gem store with no pay to win-ness to it. I say keep up the good work ANET. Y’all rock.

You’re right. It’s not WoW.

In almost all WoW expansions, you get new dungeons & raids, new pvp maps & modes, new continents & zones, new classes, new races, new crafting professions, new gear, new mounts & pets, new skills & talents, new game mechanics, new quests & stories, new arenas, etc. And this is just the expansions. After that, they constantly update the game throughout the expansion’s lifetime (the exception is WoD so far).

Just read each patch notes from patch 1.0 to patch 2.4, and you’ll realize how much they added in around 3 years: http://wow.gamepedia.com/Category:World_of_Warcraft_patches

And a few months after the expansion WoW lost 3 million people, all the people they’d gained, because that’s more than enough time to get through all the new content.

The wait between content releases in WoW is far far greater than the wait between content releases in Guild Wars 2. And regardless of anything, it doesn’t really matter how much WoW provides if you don’t like the game (which many don’t).

If you don’t count the current wait yes, but we’ve been without an update for 4 months now Surely they could’ve planned it a bit better

Funnily enough the Inquisitor has a relation to the Witch Hunter explanation that Jon gave. Witch Hunters had the aim of bringing witches to trial, specifically “Witch Trials” or “Inquisitions”. So another name for a Witch Hunter is an Inquisitor. But it can also be translated as a ruthless individual striving for justice or one that seeks the truth. It pretty much encompasses the Dragonhunter name and concept but means so much more.

However, I’m personally favourable to the Paragon since the Spear, Shield and Wings styled Virtues of the spec are one big rip off the Paragon. Not to mention that Paragons are known to be long distance battle commanders from GW1, with Keiran Thackery a former Ranger and a prominent commander of Lion’s Arch being Tyria’s first Paragon. The Paragon as a word also means the following;

- The embodiment of an ideal (Zeal, Radiance, Valor, Honor, Virtue?)
- Someone who is a model of perfection.
- To go beyond, to surpass, to excel, to triumph, to conquer (What is the biggest obstacle in Tyria? That would be the Dragons.)

It might be as abstract as the Dragonhunter if you erase the GW1 foundation but it would be a shame to do so. The only “new” thing that the Dragonhunter does that the Paragon couldn’t is lay traps. But that could be explained as an evolution of the Paragon thanks to Kieran Thackery’s past Ranger knowledge influencing the once Elona exclusive profession. The Tyrian Paragon could be influenced by Tyria and those who learnt the art from Kieran. As for the Longbow, Kieran’s weapon of choice was the Longbow, he was a Paragon that shunned the Spear.

Actually I didn’t mean that sarcastically, well the “dot dot dot” part is but that’s more me stuck working in the system and not directed to anyone on the forums.

I have been poking about this fix for a month now or so internally now. Been asking to get someone in here to talk to everyone about this bug and what’s up with it but as of yet no dice. I am doing everything I can to get this resolved or some explanations for you guys.

But yeah, I have some extremely tied hands and poking with my poking stick is about all I can do because I don’t control development or production schedules or design decisions. I do take screenshots of comments and paste them into some internal emails though… And the # of live reports, and the forum links, etc. I can make a huge ruckus when it’s needed, but in general everything I do is behind the scenes and I don’t take credit or spill the beans on what occurred to get it to that point.

While I have all the answers, really I am the next thing to a walking encyclopedia of the GW2 bug DB at any time, I can’t really go around shouting what is happening one way or the other because it can change daily… and letting some things I know be known would probably result in my not working for ArenaNet anymore. That’s something that would be kinda poopy and I would like that not to happen, so I avoid it and instead just say slightly nebulous things like “soon” when I see a fix coming for the next release. One day that “soon” will have some real intent behind it. Today actually seems like a good day to “soon” some threads so…

Also yes, reading and responding on the forums is not actually part of my job. I got to a point where I just really didn’t like how you guys felt ignored in this forum and I’m trying to do something about it. I tend to only post positively and I won’t respond to all threads.

tl;dr I will keep fighting the good fight on your behalf.

I support this thread.

Lauren is going above and beyond about this and other bugs. I’ve told her personally, and I’ll say it here: I’m delighted that she is posting in our forums. Often she’s doing it because she spots a thread. And I’ll confess it, occassionaly she’d doing it because she sees my plaintive e-mails asking, “Bueller? Bueller????” and she strives to find that answer!

I hope that everyone will take on board that she will — we each will — share info when we have it and when it’s appropriate to share it.

Basically, I’m asking that despite your impatience or your irritation with a situation, despite the occasional desire to flare up, you please please do your best to stay on topic and remain respectful in your posts. Many /most of the people who contribute to this forum are not required to do so. And the forum is a much better place because they are involved! I believe we all are, or certainly should be, grateful to Lauren and the many others (like Evan, and Lawton, and Michael, and Justin, and Jeffry, and Jon, and Bobby, and Cody, and… and… ALL the peoples at ArenaNet!) who are active here. Hi,

after the first Test Season Feedback I released, I want to give again my feedback about this test season. Season is over and I want to say I really enjoyed this second test season, of course there are A LOT of improvements Anet can do (and we’ll talk about this), but In general I really liked this season. Some data, I played 267 games, the big majority in solo/duo. Ended in top500 with 146 pts. 154 wins, 113 Losses and Win rate of 57.68%.

A little summary of my arguments:

Thanks for posting, Jon. Appreciate the discussion.

My biggest issue with the name is that it implies you are the most and mostly effective against one thing (dragons). Well, what if I’m fighting cows? Or quaggan? Or I’m in SPvP fighting other players? Do I lose some effectiveness? Are other classes not just as capable of fighting dragons as a dragonhunter? Will the dragonhunter have a DPS buff against dragons and dragon minions?

It’s just so specifically tied to just one aspect of the PVE story and to what the class is intended to ‘kill’.

Chronomancer = what mesmers ARE (time controllers, works in any situation)
Druid = what rangers ARE (nature healing shaman types, works in any situation)
Tempest = ? (seems to be what they ARE – weathery storm themed casters)
Dragonhunter = who guardians FIGHT (only works in dragon theme situations)

Anyway… There have been a million brilliant suggestions for creative, lore-appropriate, themeatically nuanced name changes. Honestly just take out the dragon part. Coupla renames and some new bow/gauntlet skins and you’re in business. I would seriously pay your artists myself.

I’d like to see Mini red fox offered and have the mini raccoon I keep seeing people running around with.

I think the red fox is coming. The raccoon you can get if you get enough HoM points in GW1 (once they fix the current HoM issues). None of the HoM rewards should ever be gained without doing the GW1 requirements imo, and I say that as someone with only 3 HoM points and little likelihood of getting more since my chief helper in it has a new baby that is much more important as a use of her time

I like what a previous poster said, outfits themed to each new Elite spec reveal. Also outfits making use of the old tonic’d townclothes (preferably using some community feedback on good combos). And new armor sets, I’m drooling for actual mix and match, I’m in withdrawal on that.

There’s actually very little in relation between Prophecies and Factions – mainly comments from Mhenlo, Cynn, Devona, Eve, and Aidan which are few.

If you want to learn up on lore before playing through the game, I’d restrict myself to these links:

Anything else is likely to give you spoilers – for what GW2 doesn’t already spoil at least. After playing through the main plot, and done all side quests you care to do, I’d go through these links:

Again, these will spoil the main plot and even side-plot lore reveals, but once you read through those, you’d have pretty much 90-95% of all GW1 lore read.

Then for GW2 lore (which can spoil GW1 plot):

And once you’ve read all the links in those, you’d pretty much know most of the in-game lore. Unfortunately, there’s no summary for the Personal Story up anywhere, so for any that you don’t intend to do in-game, you’d have to read the dialogue of the individual steps (I’d suggest the same for season 1, reading up dialogue of events etc. rather than the summary, but that stuff is currently scattered amongst dozens of location or event articles – only The Lost Shores has compiled dialogue articles).

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
