That myth is still active I see, that pvp players are better than wvw roamers. They are way better in one thing, that is win pvp matches, that does not make them better against any good wvw roamer.
Also i watched Potatoveg on stream this weekend and I thought he handled himself more than fine. Nice build he has.

That has to be the least thought out post I’ve read on here. Golems are a very useful and fun piece of WvW Equipment. A Golem Garage would help prevent actual grieving by preventing bad players from stealing, joy riding, and dumping them off cliffs, etc. Golems should be viewed and treated as personal pieces of property in game. Especially at 4g a piece!

You don’t need stealth at all. I hid in keeps several times yesterday as a Guardian. In this 40vDoor meta zergs don’t care about sweeping since it just slows them down on their journey towards the next door. Besides, they can just melt their way in when it gets flipped anyways.

Yeah, this game isn’t for you. Everything you listed is a hallmark of this game: no gear treadmill, no holy trinity, being able to get gear however you want (dungeons, pvp, crafting, buying it off TP), and when it comes to leveling the journey is as important as the destination. Basically this game isn’t a rush to level 80 so you can grind a bunch of dungeons so you’re able to grind even more dungeons.

It sounds like you love everything about the standard MMO, and all the things that GW2 tried to modify/do without. So yeah, unless you can break out of that frame of mind, this game isn’t for you. But at least you gave it a try.

What are you even grinding? I’ve been playing since headstart and never felt like I was grinding.

Granted, I’ve never actually played explorable mode dungeons (apart from fractals) so maybe that’s where that was.

But more on topic, the point of legendary weapons IS the skin. The stat bonus is just extra incentive they added later. Having all exotic gear be equal allows for the endgame to essentially be collecting skins and looking nice. Which tbh is much better than “BE MORE STRONGER” but that’s just my opinion.

Yak Wee Week: Upon entering WvW you are transformed into a Yak. You then run around the map saying Weeeeee, Weeeeee, Weeeeee. The louder and the frequency you “Wee” determines your contribution to ppt.

Tell him to open the windows and smoke less of the funny stuff, he’s obviously had too much if he imagined anything as far fetched as that one…

Sentry week – Dying causes you to respawn as a sentry and be stuck in the ring until you can do your job and kill a passerby.

Does anyone else wonder what kind of a f*** up you would have to be to get assigned sentry duty in WvW?

I would add Spirit of Nature to this list. Why do this spirit only have a radius of 240, when all other spirits have a radius of 1000 (untraited)? This is our elite spirit!

Heres a couple more for the list

Pets:

-Cant “Stow Pet” During combat. This means that any room wide aoe’s instant kill pets.

  • I know this has been a issue for a while but i think it needs to be addressed with the rest of the ranger bugs till it gets fixed *******

Traits:

-Remorseless does not activate all the time if fury proc’s are activated simultaneously to quickly. And sometimes it just chooses to not proc at all

You cannot compare PvP and WvW. There is much more freedom and variety in the open world. That is why there are different demands to a good WvW build than to a good PvP build.
Skillwise there is no difference. The percentage of good players will be about the same in WvW and PvP. The best roamers will beat the best PvP-players in roaming and vice versa. Being prejudiced in this topic is stupid.

@Topic
The melee also works great in a zerg. Damage + Support + Tankyness.

I love the new possibilities for frontline ranger. I’ve been playing ranger as frontline support now for a long time and the damage of my build was buffed by a huge amount.

It is great to see how good a melee ranger build works while boarding the enemy pirate ship. With a good build you can kill an enemy berserker ele with one maul while being tanky at the same time.

Pick Sfr if you want to get wiped allover the place and go for PPT and pvding only.

Pick FSP if you wanna go balls deep and scare kittens like SFR into their towers and keep hiding from all the cruel things we do to them.

Another addition to the list:

  • Swoop (Greatsword #3), Hornet’s Sting & Monarch’s Leap (Sword #2) distance is reduced while under the effect of Quickness.

Note that this seems to be the case with other leap/movement skills across all classes.

The movement skills change with conditions was supposed to make all leap skills move the same distance all the time regardless of conditions or boons on the player.

However, when leaping under quickness we still travel a shorter distance.

Utilities

  • Healing Spring does not heal allies/pets.
  • Healing Spring can be placed up to 4 times.
  • Healing Spring does not activate when used at full health and losing health while inside the trigger area. Player must exit then re-enter the trap area to activate.
  • Spirit of Nature – passive heal does not scale with Healing Power.
  • Solar Flare (Sun Spirit) activation time is faster than other Spirit actives.
  • Strength of the Pack! buff on the Pet uses Lightning Reflexes icon.
  • Sic ’Em! – active effect is cancelled if any other pet command is given, including another pet shout.
  • The unactivated duration of deployed traps varies between 1 to 5 minutes with no apparent rationale.
  • Signet of the Wild – if the effect is active upon leaving combat, the skill bar will be locked until the player enters and leaves combat again. Skills can however be changed from the Hero panel.
  • Frost Trap – effects will not apply upon triggering (including the traited ‘on trigger’ cripple) but upon the 1st pulse thereafter.
  • Viper’s Nest – tooltip displays pre-specializations poison amounts (1 stack vs 3).
  • Flame Trap applies 2 stacks of burning on trigger.

Weapons

  • Maul (Greatsword #2) – unlike other melee cleave skills, only the closest target is affected by the crit chance from Precise Strike and the damage bonus from Remorseless.
  • Swoop (Greatsword #3) acts as 2 leap finishers.
  • Swoop (Greatsword #3) will immobilize the player for ~1 second mid-cast if performed on a downward slope.
  • Hilt Bash (Greatsword #5) – stated range is 300, actual range is 220.
  • Whirling Defense (Axe #5) only procs a whirl finisher at the start of the cast – used to proc multiple times like Whirling Wrath etc.
  • Stalker’s Strike missing its base range increase from the old Off-Hand Training trait.
  • Bonfire – the coefficient for the direct-damage portion is incorrect.

Are you nuts to think they even read the Bug forum related to ranger?
They only listen to that Abjure team that list a bunch of things to nerf rangers, and ignore all the things that hurt ranger entirely.

So, are you guys looking into the pet stat issue? Pets pretty much have the same stats as before the patch. They supposed to gain 150 and get another 150 if specced into BM, they are not getting these.

Beastly Warden trait needs a fix.

Like I said in the OP, if ranger is underpowered then buff areas other than this trait. This specific trait is one that is indisputably overpowered and deserves a nerf.

How come I didn’t see you complain about this, a way stronger and more spammable CC than ranger’s taunt?

Oh, I know the reason, because it is ranger! You guys expect ranger to be trash tier and should never be able to be competitive.

Seriously, you are the one who should come up with the ideas of compensation for nerfing taunt. Otherwise it’s just plain nerf and no compensation on an already under-powered class.

To Euro:
I agree taunt should be unblockable too since Fear is unblockable as well.

T1 can have it, that map looks terrible.

However the smart thing to do would be to replace eotm with it for a week and test it there. Everyone that wants access can get in, broken mechanics won’t affect WvW scores, and you can shut it down as often as you need to without messing up WvW.

I’m pretty sure eotm was supposed to be the testing ground for WvW stuff anyway.

The real problem here is that names aren’t server specific, like in proper MMOs.

And quite rightly, too, considering we can see players from all different servers at once because of the megaserver.

Moreover, we can send mails using a player’s character name.

Well i tried many names, characters from books i read with cool names

Stop right there. That’s your problem right off the bat.

This is an MMO – a massive multiplayer online game (millions of copies have sold worldwide). There will be people who have taken the name from your favourite book/movie/tv show series, and yes there will also be people who have rip-offs of the name too. Misspellings, accents, you name it.

Solution – be creative and original with your names instead of using something that about a thousand other people will have thought of as well. This game has been out for almost 3 years. Of course that character’s name will be taken.

As to having apostrophes and lower case middle names (like Vincent van Gogh or Mippa the Grand, for instance), I do agree we should be given these as options.
