Truely, I love it when people act like that towards me. Most people I know get upset but I take it as a massive compliment, assuming I played well, because there is nothing more upsetting to a bad player than to lose to a spec they underestimated. Their ego just cannot handle it and I have to smile to myself because they are bad players and people in every possible way.
PvP community is pretty bad, just like every game imo. Egos. PvE though, well that is another story.

I almost wish it was back at the beginning when the thief was the rangers worst enemy. Now they have none?
With an engineer using reflect, 2 solid blocks, and magnet pull, and rocket boots to close a gap. I feel I am a natural predictor of the LB user. I have little difficulty dispatching rang e s with my warrior at all, and even less trouble when on my mesmer.
In my opinion if your having difficulty with a ranger, that is the fault of your own build and how you are playing it.
I’m not talking soloing, when was the last time you saw a roaming LB ranger. But in backline zerging they can snipe prety easy, No matter how good you say you are. I’ts the easiest job in the world, and very effective.
That is not a rational justification in my opinion. I can drop grenades all over a large group from 1500 range. for that matter I can use thief unload on you at 900 range. If your going to cry about one specific profession, using single target damage against you, when you are in a large scope battle, any damage from any profession focusing you in just as bad.
Crying about ranger damage when you die in a zerg clash doesn’t make any sense to me. I am very often PINed up, and I do not feel this is an issue for me to deal with. If I am playing a back line engi and use a 1200 range magnet to pull you back there to watch you get pounces on, are you going to cry that every profession with a pull is OP.
What is your main profession? I can gladly offer you suggest for your profession that you may not be aware of to deal with this issue. Then again, I can make an argument for how your chosen main is as or more OP then any ranger. It will be equally as rational as your argument.
How many hours do you have playing your ranger, in WvW anyway?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6q3em9s5I4c
Intended and every good ranger will make sure you’re aware of it … and be giggling :-p
… real men giggle.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.
Better yourself.
When I clicked on this thread, I was kinda expecting something like:
“Why play thief on pick team when you can pick people off at range with a ranger?”
“As a thief, I’m getting constantly screwed by Sic ’Em.”
“I play condi troll thief but, man, condi rangers are immortal.”
Some complaint that, while maybe not well-founded, one could actually discuss back-and-forth, you know?
Instead, I see…
“I’m playing the glassiest one-shot build in the world and I don’t know what to do when I can’t quite kill my target and they one-shot me right back.”
:/
Rangers don’t have as much burst power. They really don’t. I know because both rangers and thieves constantly try to gank me, and the thieves demand much, much better reaction time on my part. (The frustration with rangers is more that their stupid rotation is really good at draining all your endurance quickly.)
So, I dunno, dodge a bit more? Pack a stun break? Do some silly Whirlwind Attack thing and laugh? If you’ve got your target at 20% hp after the first burst, basically the only thing that’s saving him is that you’re getting knocked down (and maybe Signet of Stone; you should have plenty of tools to wait it out, though).
and 3 downed/revive traits
Trapper’s Defense (Skirmishing) – spike trap on revive
Healer’s Celerity (Nature Magic) – revive speed + swiftness on revive
Instinctual Bond (Beastmastery) – pet quickness on downed
At least merge Trapper’s Defense and Healer’s Celerity and redesign Instinctual Bond or at least make it a Major Adept so it’s a choice.
Greatsword _______ insane damage!

You know what’s a disgrace. People expecting the world to change for them instead of putting in a little time and effort to conquer a challenge.

I think the problem here is the wall, not the ranger. For the love of Oprah, please nerf the walls!
The new metas for attacking walls in WvW:
- DPS WALL!!! (PvW)
- Double jump to get over the wall
- Build the ram by this wall
- Use this AC to take the wall down
- Pole vault over that wall
New quotes from defenders because of nerf to walls:
- Ugh those random ogres broke our wall again
- Mesmer just jumped over wall, portal INC!!!
- Ram up by wall at XXX Wall at XX%
Gates Of Madness
Jewelcrafting to 500!

I always run ‘Wall’ as my 2nd utility slot.
Well, power rangers strength lies in long range burst.
Just like power thieves/mesmers strength lies in surprise burst.
Just like guardians/warriors strength lies in predictable burst but with backed up defence.
Just like engineers/elementalists strength lies in being adaptable.
Only thing id cry about is necromancer mobility & stability which isnt compensated for in reliable damage, or my own lack of reaction time and decisionmaking/patience in alot of scenarios.
And no im far from a necro main.
Every profession mentioned is summed up in a roaming scenario.
Theorycrafter & trickster.
Friend, father & lover!
Yes and can I have a beartrap that literally chops off their feet when they walk into it? plxxxxxxxxxxx!
At first I thought you meant a beartrap. Literally. You lay down a trap and when it gets triggered, a bloodthirsty bear pops out and mauls the victim. Then I read your suggestion again and I was not impressed. Sadface.
I got the same picture too, with an angry bear falling out from the sky onto the victim in cow-finisher style. This needs to happen.
Save the Bell Choir activity!

This is an amazing and constructive discussion, I really appreciate all the support posts, as well as all the differing opinions being provided. It’s awesome that we’re keeping this on track, lets keep it going as it’s giving me a lot of ideas as to how I want to structure our eventual “CDI” that we are going to bring to ArenaNet.
I’d like to point out, as a general concern people have several times mentioned the “toxicity” of the GvG scene. While I believe there has absolutely been a level of toxicity, I believe that this is partly in place because in order to create a large amount of “hype” around the game mode, guilds create an amount of salt/animosity towards each other to create a “my reputation is on the line in this fight” environment. With some sort of official or semi-supported “raid scale” PvP mode, this type of hype could come from some sort of leaderboard or ranking system, which displays the reputation of the guild instead of them having to hype themselves up and talk trash.
I myself have participated in some of the worst unsportsmanlike trash-talk and vitriol spewing that has plagued our scene, but as you’ll notice it’s myself and (soon to be) a lot of the players I competed with and trash-talked working together to create this community drive. The scene is not necessarily toxic throughout, it is simply a product of the environment in which it was born. Every PvP and competitive game mode has some toxic aspect to it – it’s the natural human condition when competing. The community interested in “raid size” PvP is no different than any other, and given the environment, can thrive just as much (if not more) in a sportsmanlike manner. I firmly believe this is the truth.
Keep +1’ing if you guys support our idea, hopefully ArenaNet is interested in keeping an eye on this!

What do you want from us, OP!!!????
My solution is to just spend hours customizing the rear end of my characters.
Man, I work out, I eat right, I trim my beard and keep my hair tidy. Brush my teeth and all for what? I only ever get to see this stuff in a mirror! kitten you whoever decided to put my eyes in my head! They should have been out in front of me so I could stare at myself all day!
Circle your camera around and you can see the front too. It’s a bit advanced I know but you seem like you can manage.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
… and it was madness. Pure, unadulterated, crazy, madness.
It was nuts…..and it was a ton of fun.
Even though I just got t level 80, I don’t think I was properly prepared for this as I certainly don’t have any high end traits yet (are any needed?) and I’m pretty sure my weapons and armor are not the best for this.
I pretty much just followed the zerg around and did the best I could and rezzed others when and where I could. I did get killed a couple times, especially when a red horde just spawned out of the ground (how are they doing that?), and there were a couple times when I found myself alone. Talk about paranoia!
Good times, I’ll probably try it again soon.

Hi all,
Trying to achieve the Lavish Llama at the current rate would be, as someone aptly noted, madness! The good news is, next week will bring some concrete details on how you can start earning them at a much more rapid pace through participating in select tournaments.

And the reward for winning wvw week after week is …drumroll….6 greens after you make 3 more wvw levels.
Maybe Josh can take a look at the wvw achievements and fix those too…
