Well, Nighttime capping is one of the reason. Still somewhat understandable if culture wise, you guys have your free time later than the other EU zones. Doesn’t excuse the blobbiness of your guild raids. It seems to be a regular thing that two big BB guild groups unite against an already smaller zerg.
What dumps my opinion of the server is something completely different though: Roamers, even those cheesy condi thieves, that Alt-F4 when they are downed. Had a whole share of probably 4-5 different people who did that from BB in the last few days. It’s cowardice.
If you guys really want to get rid of the hate image, grow some thicker skin and accept the bashed in faces until you’ve gotten better. And don’t think yourself so great when you managed to 4vs1 someone with three thieves and a mesmer. Like dancing on the stomped corpse and such things. You don’t gain anything from doing that. Rather, you only sour the mood against you with that. Stomp the loner, maybe bow if you think he put up a fight and then be off. Showing some basic respect for your opponent can go a long way.
And yes, such a change won’t happen by next Friday. You’ll have to do quite some policing to get that out of the WvW populace again.
What about running zergs? We look for points, not fights. Pure fights are for PVP
I thought WvW is PvP, oh well

O.k now I hate your server too and I’m not even in EU.
It’s a shame. BB used to be such a powerhouse, a server other servers looked forward to fighting.
Even glass-is-half-full me is growing a little weary of ODS and its 5v1 ganking by permastealth thieves and a mesmer. I’d be fine if they took on equal numbers and tried to gank, but it’s always them targeting the solo roamer, at most two. More than two and they run off. Blech.
I would tell you the reasons why BB are such a terrible server but, like your numerous crappy thieves, you’ll prolly alt-f4 out before reading this thread
Worst, by a mile, server eu
Why even bother with NA! Just come over the pond to EU, we’ll show you a good time.
We’ll teach you how to be a pirate! We’ll show you how many Ultimax Denominators we have! We’ll even show you how organised and extremely effective our night trains are!
Our national servers are the true kings of PPT over here in EU. Germans have siege warfare downpat. The french are the best PPT’ers in the world. And the international servers are filled to the brim with the most hardcore kitten PK overlords!
We trump NA anyday. If I say so myself.

Thanks for coming out to OS for the GvG support. The number of spectators were insane, I even had a queue to get in and play! I’m not the voice of the GvG community but it seemed to mean a lot to us to see some Anet representation there.
Simply standing there swapping servers was blowing people’s minds. Good times!
I had a blast last night. That was a fun event to be sure. I’ll be back for more!

I play ranger and it is so easy …
I kill men by the hundreds. I consume them with fireballs from my eyes and bolts of lightning from my butt.
Try your best to not make mistakes, but, when you do make mistakes, learn from them.
Better yourself.
Thanks for the link. I’ve requested a sticky. How are newcomers to the thread supposed to know? I made an oops! Thanks for helping me fix it.
=D
This is now my favourite thread on the forums currently, mainly because its just funny to see people linking the rules to a dev, and I have to say I appreciate your honesty Michael and your sense of humor about it, respect.

I think it’s also worth noting that condis stack now. In the past you could clear 10 stacks of bleeding with a random SoR proc, and then just eat the poison and burning. Now in that same scenario you would remove the 10 stacks of bleeding and eat 10 stacks of poison and 10 stacks of burning. Condi removal seems to have gotten a lot more important from what we’ve seen.
This thread is not intended to show any kind of complaint but rather a way to consolidate a few peoples concerns about Condi removal. EB and SotF are Grandmaster traits in the same line. It’s a nerf to our condi removal and makes Poison Master an obsolete trait.
I’m hoping we can get some kind of confirmation on whether this is being looked at or not.
The Never Ending Repertoire of Ranger Builds
Salt of the Earth {SALT} Crystal Desert© ~~Dragon Rank~~
(edited by ItIsFinished.9462)
Things I’ve witnessed:
- players spawning basically un-reachable food in the LAVA at Mount Maelstrom world boss
- dropping Box of Fun at banks deliberately on top of bankers
- dropping Box of Fun during a chest train farm at SW (I’m not even kidding this guy dropped over 30 boxes each time the CMDer dug kitten and 70% of the people could not interact with the chest)
- in general, dropping Box of Fun on ANY important NPC etc
- spamming cheap nasty food trays on top of expensive proper food trays
- throwing down a mass of cringeworthy TREBS at a gate where players are trying to build rams
- spawning merchants/TPs on top of important things where you need to press “F”
- players MASS DUMPING siege blueprints on top of thrown siege (pressing “F” picks up the blueprint, which there’s tonnes of them, and not being able to actually build the placed siege)
- spawning bonfires in places no one else can reach and/or merchants/TPs (debatable but still.. Come on..)
- players mass dumping food so no one else can spawn proper food, same case with siege prints and/or other important spawnable things
There’s quite the handful more but the above mentioned reaches the peak of troll mountain and it’s extremely annoying to experience.
Being able to view whoever placed the so called troll/interact able objects deems useless to a degree as there is no proper report option button for these particular cases even if you want to block them it’s not going to stop them trolling with it.
On a more positive note; being able to know whoever places food down in a Zerg is good, banners or even bonfires in a healthy manner is nice as I personally am one that likes to give appreciation for such things even if that person didn’t bother stating they placed free food etc.
As a self-confessed shovel hoarder with 294 shovels gathered and not a one used to date, I can say that linking those in chat brings out the real evil ones in SW
Long Bow range goes far past 1500 and has for a while.
When will this be patched?
It’s not a bug, it’s your unawareness of the game system. Every projectile works the same way, try it with thief and you’ll be surprised that goes further then it “should”… game has physics and it uses that on amazing way.
For example, lets take real life example.
English Longbow range = 370m
Lets say you shoot down the hill, your arrow will fly further then bow range limit.
Same goes for the range if wind blows in direction of an arrow.
Even melee weapons go beyond their tooltip range lol.
It shows red, but you can actually hit targets if you just manually swing it.
Also Warrior LB, thief SB, all hit further than tooltip. Donnu why people always ignore that fact and only pin-point on ranger.
Mostly because majority of rangers do not swap from Longbow when killing people in WvW. And mostly because people die to them.
My 2 cents.
I think they said they are putting them in the southern towers which is absolutely idiotic since the enemy will be able to keep them contested 24/7 by doing something cheesy like a treb in range of the legendary defenders, sending out siegerazor umpteen times in a row, or just running up and tapping since it is 2 ft from their spawn and you can flat out ignore tower guards.
This also makes keeps about a thousand times less valuable. Why bother going through the trouble of busting a T3 keep if there isn’t a WP to cut off? The reason keeps are valuable is because the WP’s give you a tactical advantage on the map.
They need to fire whoever is coming up with these changes, they are completely out of touch with WvW.
LGN
With SPvP, players not only have the competition to reward them with good and exciting fights, but they also get unique rewards like the mini llama track. They have tournaments all the time. They have multiple maps to play on. WvW Veterans with maxed out stats only have competition (when available). And one new map coming. That’s it. Each rank up chest gives something small, but unless it’s an exotic drop, it’s not much to cheer about.
I’m on both TC and Maguuma. With my time zone (end of NA and beginning of OCX), there’s more action on TC, so I main there. When I switch to play on Maguuma, the BLs and EBG are empty. All the commanders who played in this time zone have left, so Casual players have no carrot to WvW. Then it gets boring for other servers, since they steamroll our empty Towers and Keeps, and have nothing else to do. So while attracting Casuals with ability buffs is one thing, without leaders to lead, they won’t stick around long enough to contribute.
Anet. Look here, I’m one of the so called White Knights of these forums. I’ve been supportive of many things that have happened in game, from RNG mechanics to rewards. But today is different. The blog post about WvW changes made me do a double take.
Location upgrades
I’ll briefly address this. I like this idea a lot. It prevents spies and trolls from slowing down and preventing much needed upgrades to Towers and Keeps. No more shouting at pugs for stealing the last bit of Supply when a WP is at 99.9% complete. And it gives more emphasis on defending Yaks as then stroll from the camps, and they speed up the guaranteed upgrade progress. Good job on this change.
Player skill changes
In an attempt to make WvW more friendly for Casual gamers, it feels Anet completely forgot about the Veterans. One of the incentives for ranking to high levels was to be able to max out our WvW abilities. By reducing the require amounts of rank to get good traits, Anet took away one of the carrots that made me want to gain as much WXP as possible. Sure I love the competition, and capping a Keep after a 4 hour battle. But playing the same maps over and over, year in and year out, Veterans tend to need whatever carrots you can give them to keep playing.
It’s no secret that WvW lost a lot of good players due to stagnation. Some commanders resort to running raids in EotM just to change things up for their servers. Casual players won’t understand how Veteran feel after playing a map for the last 6 to 10 hours to keep PPT up. Vets need something more in this game mode. A new BL in HoT is a start, but Anet should offer more incentives to reach rank milestones. Perhaps they can offer something for players for each 1,000 rank they get. Free Precusors at Rank 2,000? Gems bonus like Achievement Point milestones. A personal message from Colin? Something. Anything. Because Veteran commanders who lead servers are few, and when a well known and respected raid leader takes a break, servers tend to become headless chickens without anyone else popping a tag. It’s a snowball effect, because enemies who like to combat good opponents can get bored if no one puts up a good fight. Then they leave or take breaks, and the cycle continues.
In closing, it’s my opinion that Veteran WvW players need more than just server loyalty to keep this game mode alive for the next several years. Making Casuals feel welcome is all good. The more players in WvW, the better! But please Anet. Think about Veterans too. Consider our feelings and needs. Give us some sense of progress once we max out all our abilities. Give us a reason to have high ranks besides titles like Gold Invader. Give us a reason to play WvW a lot more than to just meet the daily achievements.
Yak Slapping is heavily nerfed:
- Instead of preventing upgrades, it will merely slow them.
- Instead of current amount of supply prevented, future supply shipments will be “smaller.”
- Defenders will be able to grant Protected Caravan buff to yak, and get a free kit to speed up, cure, and heal it.
- Sentries will be able to severely slow-down yaks.
Hopefully they won’t also nerf the slab of meat drop rate.
- Dolyaks will no longer drop useful loot. Dolyaks will have a small chance to drop the trophy item ‘Dung,’ which only has use as part of the new ‘What WvW is Becoming’ collection.
I’m interested to hear how long it takes to get larger structures to T2 & T3. If T3 can happen in under 6(?) hours with zero dolyak caravans, we may see more lock-outs on the bottom tier matches when one server manages to sweep a Borderlands for the night, or something.
It’s pretty obvious, and nobody’s impressed.
Keep Disabler. Horkhorkhork.
1st: you will be a walking lootbag at the first time. Dont give up
2nd: decide do you want to win or just press buttons. If you want to win change class, weapons, skills, traits to the meta or pick what your guild needs.
3: search a good team
4: listen your commanders
5: your enemys are living players. win 1 and loose 1 is totaly natural
Just the WvW

Hello all,
So I’m a newbie and looking for some advice of things to consider before having a bash at world v world
Thanks!
Be willing to block those who disparage others and who don’t add to the teamwork at hand.
You will find that some of the most maligned people in the game are the ones who do a lot of the work.
Be willing to break from the zerg when appropriate if you find others willing to take a camp or tower away from the main force; getting two properties at once rather than one will benefit your server.
Be willing to use synergistic builds in groups – example: As a Ranger I have a shared water field and healing finisher that benefits a group around me – I also add fury and might – and in turn the boons I receive give me the power and conditions I need to stay up with heavies and even help them up when they fall in a field battle.
Most of all WvW is a community – a living breathing community – find those who are like yourself, who support you, play at the same time you do, and who find the fun in being the “wreckers” of the enemy and taking away their candyland camps/towers/keeps ftw.
I can see how WvW can be intimidating for people starting out. It will seem like an uphill battle for any new player (especially an up-level).That is perfectly fine since you will not know the builds and nuances of playing in WvW. Due to the mega server and lack of fresh players most servers are very established and are fairly close knit at this point.
Quick and Dirty:
1. Determine your play style in general. Do you like to defend? Run in large groups? Solo 1v1? (YouTube is great to see this in action).
2. Join your server’s website and let them know that you are new and need help.
3. Join the server Team Speak or equivalent.
4. Try to network and connect with new people who are nice and willing to help you grow and show you the ropes.
3. Be open to suggestions on builds, rotations and techniques based on your play style.
4. Totally expect to get creamed and or killed a lot (to avoid this I would recommend running in the middle or back in zerg fighting).
4. Accept the fact that you are new and will most likely be going against people who are 2+ years into WvW.
5. Go in and have fun (That is what it’s all about for myself).
Go in with a thick skin, and be eager to learn. As Dal said, join voice comms and spend lot of time just listening. Realize that different people have different expectations and goals and that never will everybody be on the same page, but much can be accomplished and enjoyed when people do work together.
First thing I would advise is joining your servers Mumble/TS voice comms. Even if only to listen. You get a much better idea of what the “master plan” is.
Second ask fellow players about builds, as already mentioned mobility is key.
Third is have fun and laugh at death, wvw leads to lots and lots of silly deaths and the more you learn to laugh at the funny ones the longer the fun will last.
