this happens with all arrows, not just ranger arrows so i’m not sure why you’re singling them out. My guess is because you’re just another god awful player that can’t comprehend the fact that longbow is not a dps decrease anymore. Standing on high ground also extends the range…obviously… and they don’t jsut vanish once they hit 1500 range… obviously.
Range is literally the only thing rangers have if they don’t go full condi. the second you gap close you can just kill them with auto attacks. glassbow rangers die to farts and anything not full glass does pathetic damage with LB. they are also useless 1v1 and mostly useless in zergs that use retal because landing 10 hits can do 3.8k self dmg.
Firing a projectile (or in certain cases like mesmer, a beam) from a heightened location in this game will produce a similar result with any weapon you choose. So you’re already off to a bad start by finding the most extreme situation you could think of to over-exaggerate the range as much as possible.
Then, you made a bunch of false claims. “Bug” for 9 months? No. Working as intended (devs responded to how ranged attacks project beyond their listed ranged forever ago and mentioned it was working as inteded) and easily tested on every single class in the game, especially Mesmer GS, Ele Staff, and Warrior Rifle. Eagle Eye has always done this forever as well.
So the fact that you explicitly state 9 months can only be referring to around the time the ranger class actually started getting the quality of life improvements it needed, at which point you actually noticed and actually started to have trouble with a class and build you had little trouble with before, which led you to make this thread in an attempt to try to squeeze every nerf justification out of a misleading argument you possibly could.
Just come out and say it like all of the rest of the players that come and make threads out of frustration, who are really just bad players and seeking the advice that they need to suck it up and learn to play. You think ranger LB is OP, broken, and the range and Rapid Fire needs to be nerfed. It’s okay that you say that, really, it just lets everybody know that they are dealing with an inexperienced player at a low skill tier, so that they don’t actually try to have this ridiculous debate with you like you know what you’re talking about, and will realize that they need to stop and explain game mechanics, game design, balancing for skill, and dodging to you.

Immature! I am not surprised.
Seriously, you’re the guy who has repeatedly made troll threads to nerf or remove anything whenever you get killed by it. You’re telling someone to do their job, that you think you know more than them. Newsflash: you don’t. Are you seriously going to play the immaturity card? You must be joking.
Stephen has only said once to keep him updated. Other than that he has been spending time watching heatmaps/treemaps and perf logs to try and figure out where the spikes are hitting the most, which might lead to a “why.” As far as I know he has never posted in these forums. I suggest you let him do his thing and see where it goes before saying “OMG 3 YEARS THEY SHOULD KNOW EVERYTHING” or whatever. That’s immature.

I love idea A, but idea B seems a little off. C’s been tried before, and D never worked. As for E they never got around to doing that.
Alot of people in this thread concerned with what they’re “allowed” or “have a right” to do…..
…. and not so many people concerned with having a little respect for their fellow players.
Unless someone is really asking for it, being a kitten doesn’t mean you’re “taking a stand”, it just means you’re being a kitten.
Obviously mis-understandings can happen, but you’d think a little common sense would resolve alot of them.

But I can never ever recommend you to run PU-mesmer, its not fun and a great bunch of people will just walk away.
What is this supposed to mean? That it’s too cheesy and other players won’t even engage?
This hasn’t been my experience thus far in WvW (minimal experience, though). Is this the case in other people’s experience? There are plenty of terribly cheesy builds that I still engage with (D/P Thief, Turret Engineer) – so just because generally the builds are “easy” to play doesn’t mean I’ll run away from them.
PU mes isnt fun for the other person to fight against. Even if you can kill them, it’s not satisfying. Its an aggravating experience to fight a PU mes. Just because i can survive cancer, doesn’t mean i want to have to deal with cancer. If i see a mes roaming with +40 condi food, i always just /laugh and walk away from them. its not worth dealing with that trash.
All is lost in this thread and I have no idea why we continued to feed the OP.
It’s like a car accident on the side of the road, you complain how everyone is causing a traffic jam by rubbernecking, but when you get close enough to see you can’t help but slow down and have a look.
snip
If you find rangers so challenging to fight against why are you trying so hard to get them nerfed? I thought challenge=fun.
I am not trying so hard to get them nerfed. Because 1500 ranger is too much range to be challenge and fun.
Example: if there is a fight between a plane and a car: would you say it is challenge? Imagine the plane is ranger and the car is other class: would you say same?
Bran is correct still.
I’ve got a better example for you, imagine a game that put in skills and mechanics that allowed you to counter skills another profession might use against you in PvP…. Oh wait, that is this game.
Maybe instead of spending so much time complaining about the professions that challenge you, you should learn the mechanics of your own profession so that you can fight back.
Guardians are an incredibly difficult fight for rangers if they aren’t running something like a garbage healing build. If the race is between planes and you decide that you want to cut the wings off your plane and call it a car, you have no one to blame but yourself.
I’ve flipped a lot of camps in my time but I’ve never seen this before, just thought I would share as I found it amusing.
whatever you guys did in that last patch was a godsend. I think I have the best fps I’ve had since LONG before the 3/10 patch. Everything is so smooth on my toaster of a laptop
Thank you so much for finding whatever that was
Is there going to be PvE mobs that are capable of rallying enemies in this map?
Is there going to be any new reward activities in this map to make WvW actually profitable, especially for scouts and commanders?
Are the ruins and Bloodlust in this new map?
Will Badges of Honor actually have viable uses in the new map, like scouts and commanders using them to upgrade structures instead of having to spend the little gold they might end up making in WvW?
Is there anything new that’s going to be done in preparation of potential WvW lag issues caused by all the new graphical effects in the map?
Will the new map actually reward for map completion to replace the rewards you took away when you removed it from world completion?
Does the map have access to significant open field areas?
Are there any new upgrades to structures and camps?
Since keep lords have new abilities, do guards?
Can guards run some siege like they do in EotM?
Will the crafting stations be removed from the citadels in the new map?
Will the new map have event areas that don’t really contribute to WvW, like the centaur and skritt?
Are there any changes in the map on how guilds claim structures, how many can claim, or if guild claim is removed when a guild with more buffs claims it?
So I was reading yesterdays update and I saw: “Fixed an issue in which players could take repeated falling damage when running down steep inclines.”
GG Anet, you nerfed the most deadly class in-game: Stairs.
I’ll have to roll Cliffs now.
It brings me the greatest of joy to see that you have been moved emotionally from my video. This is the response every humble, down-to-earth director wishes to achieve from his audience. As the director, editor, creator and star of the video, your viewership is so highly appreciated. To know you are out there, moved, will warm my heart ever after.
Thanks for watching my video SpellOfIniquity, sharing your opinions regarding its content, and for complimenting my guild’s organization! It humbles me to know that the AP of everyone we killed was less than 1k. Since you have access to said information, would you please forward me the account names of all those involved so that I may send them a congratulatory thumbs up emoticon for effort?
who was bragging? he def wasn’t. but it was really fun, you should try it. fun i mean. instead of all that hate.
All of the activities I perform in game, and their results, are what make me feel skilled.
Thanks for watching! Be sure to subscribe and tune in next time where we focus on purely farming iron nodes and GvG’ing solo uplvl thiefs, eles and rangers.
“Rejoice rejoice” the gathering crowd shouted, while swilling jerky steak down with some fine ale….“wvw reset is here!” Announced a rather stout looking fellow who would not have looked out of place removing food with his teeth from a Charrs fur.
The crowd erupted with delight at the news. Many had travelled from across Tyria to witness the event. The announcer continued…..“I can now confirm that to the 2 servers that FoW will face are”……
The crowd fell silent, waiting with baited breath. Not a sound was made as the announcer let the anticipation rise to feverish proportions. An Eagle Raptor hissed from a nearby keep.
“Blacktide Den!” A few groans were heard from those at the back. People began to discuss who the other team might be. A small group of Norn and a very drunk Asuran began chanting “We want Vabbi! We want Vabbi”.
The announcer raised his hand so to hush the restless crowd. The final server to join FoW and BT will be………
The crowd fell completely silent, so silent that one could have heard a broken lock pick hit the ground…….
Strangely, the announcers shoulders dropped on opening the shiny envelope. His face lost all of it’s natural colour and he now looked more like an Ascalon ghost.
Then his face contorted into a snarling, wolf like creature….and he roared…
“KITTEN UW!! KITTEN KITTING UW AGAIN!”
He continued this way for at least 20 minutes and by the time he had finished there was one line engineer left, who stood before him.
“Why are you even here?” Asked the announcer. The engineer raised his head slowly, revealing a very cheeky grin on his face. The announcer asked "well? What do you want?
The engineer sparked up his flamethrower and said…..
“Wanna come help me cap the last 2 vistas I need?”
I don’t go to this part of the forum often, but when i do, people are farming people :s
What we really need are less selfish changes so we can play a bigger part in group scenarios. Change the shouts so they offer group support like stability, protection, etc.

Hello Dewar and welcome to Gw2 and to the WvW family. Unfortunatelly you wont be able to assist much in WvW in your current level. You will be a “rallybot” which basically means that in a fight you will die so fast and your only contribution will be to rally downstate enemies. The term is offensive to upscaled and noob players.
What you can do is scout, upgrade towers and set sieges to towers. Though that must not be what you might look for.
My advise would be to leavt the best for last. (sPvP is always accesible)
Go to PvE, see the game, enjoy it, take your time to learn your class. And once you reached level 80 and want to do join WvW you will be free to do so.
*Start by finding an appropriate build for your class ( http://metabattle.com/wiki/MetaBattle_Wiki , not the best meta but will work)
- Find your server’s player – driver WvW community (http://www.gw2wvw.net/ servers tab)
- (Important part) Join teamspeak or whatever voice thingie the current team uses.
- Good to find a guild and get the thrills in human massive ingame killing (
)
Feel free to ask anything or send an ingame PM.
Eternal Illumination[EB] Guild Leader.
Its worth waiting for, look at it as a learning oppurtunity, get to know the game, the profession, its skills/weapons/traits etc. This way you have a better understanding of what you want to do when you hit level 80.
Also, take note of what server your on and what tier its in, the wvw experience will differ with the higher tiers generally being more active and fielding more numbers.
And just an fyi. If you should decide to transfer to another server for whatever reason, here is a free way for new players. If you delete all your toons you can transfer to a new server for free. Just make sure to deposit whatever you have into your account bank. This is better for new players because you have less time invested in new toons and thus less to lose, it would be easier to start over.
Have fun.

Hello, and welcome to Guild Wars 2. WvW is a very fun large scale PvP game mode where fights can range against 1 player, and sometimes against hundreds, if the other server shows up for a 3 way, wait till you get to Stonemist castle
.
Unfortunately Anet has not, in my opinion at least done a very good job promoting and marketing WvW, or even explaining it. So its really up to individual players to learn from guilds, server groups, online guides, etc.
One thing to remember WvW is a competitive gamemode and emotions and passion can run high so remember to have a thick skin, remember you are there to fight and kill
, getting called a noob or whatever will happen at somepoint, just pay no attention to it.
At level 20 you are limited in what you can do because you are still lacking skills and traits, and dont have access to good gear for Regular WvW. But there is also an area called Edge of the Mists that you can do, you can enter it the same way you enter regular WvW. EoTM (Edge of the Mists acronym) is kind of a casual WvW experience, its basically a place to screw around in and has no relevance on your servers standing as the matches are only 3 hours long. You can actually just jump right in there at level 20 and follow a zerg (large group) and learn the ropes. Now most of us who mainly do WvW dont like EoTM much because we see it as to casual friendly, but it will help you learn a few things and get a feel for WvW until your ready for the real experience.
Level 80 is when you want to start getting the appropriate gear, decide what setup you want, exotics or ascended is what you should aim for. Superior runes/sigils. Joining a guild will help you out A LOT, there are many active WvW guilds that are more then happy to help teach about WvW to those that are willing to learn.
Honesty is not insulting, stupidity is.

Is there even a reason the WvW forums even exist right now, other than to be the proverbial trashbin/outlet for people wanting to give feedback? Anet, why u do dis to WubVeWub
From what I’ve been able to tell from past posters, these forum are a ground in which mods can infract delete and ban those who dont see anet’s vision, thereby making the forums a bias area where new players can never find out what is really going on in WvW.
No, they ban people for being rude and insulting, when they do not agree with the vision. There is a difference between someone disagreeing, and someone being toxic about the disagreement.
What ever happened to Weekly Reports to Anet on the issues WvW is having?
What happened to the promise Report on Siege Trolling that was due 3 weeks ago?
Did Anet even get the report posted by our dear WvW Forum Specialist?
Soooo, another bait and switch. Is there even a reason the WvW forums even exist right now, other than to be the proverbial trashbin/outlet for people wanting to give feedback? Anet, why u do dis to WubVeWub
Did the forums specialist make a personal agreement with you to do anything specific?
Maybe he took his family to Disneyland.
Maybe some work emergencies occurred
Maybe his kids got the measles.
So on and so forth.
They are regular players volunteering their time. The do not owe you anything, yet they are trying to help. Everyone questions everything they do, and applies a negative undertone to it all, then ask questions of them, with assumed expectations.

reserving judgment for when i can see more than single ray flybys

head here to discuss wvw without fear of infractions
That’s because it’s not part of his post, it’s part of the forum specialist’s tasks:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/info/news/Guild-Wars-2-Forum-Specialists-Program
In addition, all Guild Wars 2 Forum Specialists
- must sign the Guild Wars 2 Forum Specialist Terms and Conditions
- must live in the USA and be age 18 or older, for legal reasons
- can be removed from the program at any time, for any reason
- must abide by the Guild Wars 2 Forum Code of Conduct
- are requested to provide a weekly feedback report on behalf of the community to the ArenaNet Forum Communications Team
So I’m confused as how can someone report weekly when they havent communicated with the community on the forums about anything new???
TO the ArenaNet Forum Communications Team. TO them. Not us. To THEM.
To take what’s said, slap it together into a reportable form, and present it TO an ANet team on our behalf.
Not to report to us.
The new necro specialization must be forum based…:x

I did that this time though last time I did so I received no reply and people kept seeing the hacker around.
I check them all, but most cheaters don’t cheat 24/7. That said I knock at least one out every day.
Look at how “Runescape” reports people.
You file a report for hacking/abusing glitches
You can write a small text to explain what is going on (think it was 300 chars long)
and the game automatically makes a video log file for the last 60-120 seconds of your game prior to sending report
It would solve so much. For us, for you, for everyone.
It will cost time and money to implement, but considering the time you guys spend, company time, running around manually looking for cheats if the logs arent clear. That time costs money, lots of money.
Not to mention, since it captures the players own game, any infringements done by the reporter him/her-self will also be revealed. (i know hackers often reports others of hacking if they get killed while hacking. Even if it is totally random)
Currently @ some T1 server in EU
And the last post by our wvw forum specialist was …8 days ago. I’d forgotten this thread even existed.
Is the first post going to be updated as the discussion goes on, or how will the ‘report’ be amended in light of people’s comments? How will people’s opinions be taken into account if nothing is posted in over a week? just asking…
It will be ‘amended’ by updating features that the general populous have been asking for. Along with new quotes, thread links, and more accurate statistics. At the moment im waiting for Anet to give me a more “structured” form of how they want the reports to look. I have my notes ready to be inputted for the next report.

Darksyze, I’m going to give you some honest advice and I hope you take this to heart.
Making threads on the forums about mechanics that you deem to be “too easy” is a waste of your time. Why is that? First off, the devs simply don’t listen to the noise. They balance their game on their own and threads like this have no constructive feedback. Second, instead of of a thread demanding a nerf, your time would be much better spent by simply asking the ranger community how to deal with longbows. They’re pretty good guys and have given more advice than they should have to. Each profession has some mechanics that helps to deal with it, so start out by naming which one you’re playing and asking how YOU can get better.
Besides all that, it just gives you a bad image when you campaign for nerfs.
so because of bad image, i have to say everything is ok? so because of bad image, i can not report what is not challenge to arena net? So because of bad image, i have agree with every player? Example: Do you know if you do good, some people will still have bad image of you? If no one have bad image of you, something is wrong. It is like, if everyone say they love you and you find that ok, that is not ok! because the enemy will surprise attack you. So, bad image is good as long respect rule and policy and that is why arena net create forum so player can post idea and make criticism.
Last, there is nothing that is waste time, every time is important. Example: What is wasted time is when you ignore problem and pretend everything is ok, what is wasted time is when you only want every one agree with you and to not give criticism.
Criticism and not agree is important so thing can fix and get better. Why do you thing arena net realease patch note? Arena net release patch note to fix problem and to improve thing because player make time to report to them. So in end, no time is waste and that is why all time mean something.
I do not have right to tell any player that he or she is waste time: how dare i do that? Nobody own time so who am i to tell them what is waste or not waste? Instead of pretend own time, use own time for what important to you.
Very last: how do you know arena net do not listen to player for reporting? did arena net tell you this? i want to see post by arena net. Every feedback is important: constructive or not constructive, as long respect policy and rule.
Arena net want us player to report, Player want Arena net to give result of report: that is why report is good, not bad.
So, you bad speak, ok? So, you yoda words waste time not? Fear challenge you are? Fear, is the path to the darksyze. Outside, change not! Within, change you must!
