I totally agree with you. My necromancer reached lvl 80 on Sunday and I simply love it. I still need to play around with different builds, get some better gear together. But I really love the diversity. It can be great fun to run a round with a whole zoo around you (even though they are dumb as hell) or to face-tank.

Thanks to all the QQ’ing about Amber farming, it’s been nerfed. If they had spread out the chests equally it would have been much better.
My crystal ball tells me that SW will become another DT, pretty much a ghost town. It was fun while it lasted. Altho for myself, I did all the events, even the pack bulls, defended, reclaiming forts, sometimes solo which was the most gratifying, and yet still farmed chests. It was kind of funny, some cmdr at Amber was apparently glad to be on a non-farming map, yet that same commander stood off to the side along with 4 or 5 other players, while another player and I re-took the fort back haha.

I love the backpack but I understand others who want it in the slider.

I don’t agree with those who are overreacting though as if it is this horrible tool of torture.

This.

Hearing “SaVe YOUrSElvES!” all the time is more annoying than this thing.
If you want to cram it into a slider, it should go into dialogue. If you can handle anything there, you can handle this.

If replica job o tron is wiping your train you may have to consider reevaluating your focus.

I’m torn about this. While it would be great to be able to mix n match, outfits are wonderful for when leveling a new character without having to worry about your character looks. You just tick the outfit box and you’re free to wear all those ugly low-lvl skins. The best thing, of course, would be to both keep the outfits as they are, as well as adding a separate version of them as individual pieces, but one can only dream…

Well, what if you kept Outfit pieces at a 0-transmutation cost? That way you could still have some cool looking armor at lower levels while not having to sacrifice any transmutation charges.

If they add more sayings I’d be pleased. Though I think they’ll just make a different back to sell in the store.

Almost died last night due to laughing so hard at what the Job o tron says. It’s the semi running unexpected commentary that’s the charm of having one of these and it doesn’t talk all that much in my experience. My favorites comments are when you come back from downed state, being afflicted with status effects and when you dodge.

I find it disingenuous to complain about it talking when our characters are just as noisy. But whatever. I hope Anet makes it so that we only hear it just so we can spare the fragile teacups among us.

Note to engineers: No, it doesn’t replace our kits, but it’ll still talk even if it’s not visible.

Title: Outfits as Individual Armor Pieces (stupid 45 character rule prevented me from saying this)

So, I’m really digging the Noble Count Outfit. It looks amazing on all of my characters, especially my Charr Engineer. The only problem I have with it is that it takes away my headgear (A hard earned monocle that suits his nobleness greatly). The same concept applies to the other outfits I own, such as the Fancy Winter Outfit, where I would want to change or remove the boots or the hat to my own taste.

Thus an idea occurred. What if Outfits went BACK to their original single piece clothing items, and went INTO our account wardrobes. That way, we can mix and match clothing pieces with other forms of our armor in order to further enhance our creativity options.

The same could be applied to town clothes as well, but that of course is up to the devs.

I know. That’s what my question was originally about. Why does the dev team set things up from the beginning to cause drama?

It is downright impossible to make a game, and have zero exploits, bugs, or errors.

If you make such, either you put a hell of a lot of time into it, or you’re a kittening miracle worker.

The devs don’t “set things up” like that, they and their testers don’t think the same way as those who find the exploits. I bet that they do, however, think of several exploits we players never see because they fix said exploits they think of.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

why sw is better than everything else?

~10 world bosses→1 exotic(spoon) + 12 rares plus occasional rare + 3g (5h time)
~5 daily dungeons – 6 gold + maybe 3 rare (2h time if good group)

silverwastes→ 500 chests opened : ~min 5 exotics + 100g worth materials (4h farming)

see the point?

I don’t think they do. I just think it’s an oversight. Eitherway they should know people like loot chests, so people will always take the easiest path. At 80 for some you really don’t have much to look forward to once you do all the mapping, finished all the content for fun, built all the legendaries you wanted, it becomes a job to just horde gold for the next cool piece of gear.

For some they are just tired of doing the same quests over and over for their alts so they decided farming in the best way to gear their other toons. I mean really, this game for most players at 80 is slim pickings, and if farming is the way to keep people playing then that’s the what anet is gonna allow.

Only way anet could fix this is to pretty much make a new map the size of the old one and raise level to 160, then maybe people would have something new and exciting to do for a few months, but this would leave old areas empty…and eventually we would be back to the good old farming again. It’s a problem that plagues many MMOs, people run out of content and leave. The ones who stay farm, while a small group of others role play.

Anyways thanks for telling me about this, I know where I’m gonna be tonight. xD

Never said I wasn’t enjoying the game it is right now. Was just pointing out the drama it was creating and how it’s unintended and potentially toxic to the community. Remember coil? I’m not thinking about myself, here, I’m actually one of those people who care about this game and it’s impact on the community not just myself. Otherwise I would have left it and moved onto something else a loong time ago.

Why can’t you just enjoy how it is right now? To be honest, there’s a reason why these kinds of things become insanely popular: because looting the chests is more profitable then doing the actual events. No one cares about the events because they give us nothing. We waste a lot of time for 3 piles of sand and a couple of bandit crests. Until they start making events more enticing, obviously more people would rather the chest farm. I’ve been playing this game since launch, and have had so much trouble making money that doesn’t involve me having to spend hours and days and weeks to rack up a decent profit. Once the chest farming started I was able to finally build up some gold at a decent rate without having to spend a ton of time. In this game, the rich get richer, and the poor stay where they are until something comes along that can boost them out of that. I’m not saying it’s a good thing that people abandon the events, but just remember. The shovels will start to run out quickly with most people just doing chest farms, and when they do run out, a lot more people will be more inclined to do the events again for a while until either the next part of the story comes out, the farm gets nerfed, or everyone finally starts to lose interest. So yeah, the way Anet is providing content needs to be rethinked, but until then, just join in and enjoy it while it lasts. Unless of course, you’ve got 500g and a full armor set already and just play the game for new content. There are a few lfg maps that state they’re event only not farm maps, maybe you should hit one of those up if you’re looking for story and not farm.

It has a 30s cooldown between talking. It’d be really hard to deliberately harass someone with it.

Also, if anything about it… I’d like to remove the sound effects for simply jumping (or put a longer delay on them) because as it is, it feels like jumping voiceovers get the lion’s share, and it feels like kind of a waste of the 30s cooldown to just hear “boing!”.

The other voiceovers are more amusing. I like it because your copper fed salvage kit is the same voice.. so.. you can RP it that your “backpack” is actually your Salvage-o-tron golem.

How can they talk about adding content when they’ve screwed up existing content?

I can’t agree more, this topic has been discussed so long, I don’t know what to say anymore, but something needs to be done, because as it is not, there are:

1. plot holes (an entire arch missing, the the rest of the story builds off of and refers back to, my greatest fear show’s the build up of the pact, and explains why and how fort trinity was attacked, then after the attack, brings closure to the event.)

2. characters that no longer exist (these characters we built attachments to, have fond memories of, they shaped and effected the events of the world around us, and their references, both storywise, as well as weapons and armor attributed to them, remain even now that they no longer exist; this doesnt make sense!)

3. adventures that can no longer be experienced (players are always demanding for more content, not less; you cant take away adventures we love and enjoy, especially when they contribute so much to plot and character developement)

4. A great loss of character developement (the greatest fear plotline showed we weren’t perfect and could fail, it pointed out our faults and made us face our weaknesses, and made us become stronger)

5. new players sacraficed (you are presenting players new to the game with a confusing story that is out of order, constantly contradicts itself, doesn’t make sense, and is missing key plot lines they will never have the chance to experience and enjoy. Out of everyone, I cry the most for them; this is not a good way to expand the player base.)

6. roll players turned away (yes, I don’t do it myself -not anymore- but there are players whose core joy in this game, is to build themselves into characters that live in this world, that have experienced it, and live it every day)

7. events thrown out of order and made confusing (we meet people after they die, know them before they are introduced, preform cleasing rituals before we even secure a path to the location needing to be cleansed. You can’t throw your socks in the dryer and then put them in the washer! there has to be a proper order to things and the story must naturally and realisticly flow from one event to the next, and it doesn’t anymore!!!)

8. realism cut away by over simplifying the story (we cleanse orr, without being disturbed by zhaitans troops? Of course the elder dragon is going to get in our way, and delay us. taking care of one issue and then the other, lacks the complexity and constant multi tasking nature of real life.)

9. New content developed at the expense of old content, trashed or completely disposed (it would be like crashing a ship into an iceburge, and then trying to build a skyscraper on it while it sinks!)

10. and the bigest problem of all, is Anet won’t even aknowledge this as a problem, and give us their stand on the matter!!!

Yes, ANet, I know you don’t have the time or people to respond to every matter, and so must chose the greater concerns… but this thread has survived the course of 2 months, constantly bouncing back, and retaining its place on the front page, it has many players crying out for help, dozens of post, and 8 pages now… I think its sufiencet to say this is no small matter, but something of large importance to a great deal of players, so please, REPLY!

The problem isn’t just the removal of the Greatest Fear plotline though. The surviving plot was also rearranged so it makes no sense.

For example when you first meet Elli (during The Source of Orr) she talks about Zott’s death and how you helped her through it. Then later on you meet Zott (very much alive) and Elli doesn’t care for him at all.

That’s not the exception either, pretty much the entire story from level 70 onwards is like that.

And finally there are those who care about storytelling and can’t get into their main character if their main character is Mr./Mrs. Perfect and never makes any mistakes. And we’re worried that removing the greatest fear storyline is sanitizing the story to become just that. It makes it a bad story from a narrative perspective. And we thought they cared about telling a good story. We all are starting to feel like we were wrong about that now.

This. And the most ridiculous thing is they kitten the PS in the face and simultaneously hype the everloving hell out of the current living story. How does this work? Is this an ‘out with the old, in with the new’ policy gone horribly, horribly wrong and way too far? That’s what I’m starting to think.

The fact that in my opinion the LS is actually good (no idc I seriously like it a lot shutup) makes it a lot worse for me. It’s like being able to draw a perfect pink rose but completely sucking at drawing a red one. Hooooow.
