It’s definitely not just Dreamy having an issue with this. I do as well, as apparently others who have started similar threads. It hurts no one who is not having this issue for the rest of us to have much needed options.

Yeah, this does need a fix. Seems like a small QoL improvement for something that is aggravating lots of folks (including myself on occasion). Seriously, having the glider appear when you don’t mean it to is just plain annoying. Given the option, a lot of folks would remap the glider to its own button. Can’t be too difficult to implement that, I think.

Please give us these following options for glide activation:

Option #1 – Hold Spacebar to Glide
Option #2 – Double Tap Spacebar to Glide
Option #3 – Keybind a key to Glide

Currently we only have Option#1 and it works for some and doesnt for others.
I am one of those people who cannot adopt to the first option because it always messes me up no matter how hard I try not to hold the spacebar to make long jumps. So please add the other 2 options I have mentioned and I guarantee you everyone will be happy! Let us choose how we want to active glider! =(

I agree that we should have a choice whether we want the spacebar to activate the glider. I vote for keybind.

Outfit Toggle Button please!

I would really like to have a mapable button to toggle outfits on and off for RP and things without having to open Hero Panel, back out to main Hero Panel, and then go into Outfits. I ask that you bring back that one simple button we had for town clothing so long ago for outfits.

Skritt Hit wintersday daily?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: ananda.5946

ananda.5946

This is an easy daily if you don’t try to throw snowballs at the dolyak gift event. Instead:
buy two or three packs of snowballs,
enter Tixx’s Infinarium solo,
wait a minute or two for the skritt to settle down (some groups will just stand in place),
Use snowball pack outside aggro range of skritt,
Throw snowballs at skritt x10 from outside their aggro range (if you do aggro, just run away and they reset).

One note: the skritt don’t get knocked down by the snowballs, but it still counts.

Hope that helps some frustrated people.

Thank you for proving my point that I’m not the only one having an issue with glider.
I hope ArenaNet can seriously fix the problem.
I played this game for such a long time and this gliding system still causes issues for me. If it’s so hard to add simple basic options that lets us keybind glider, then at least give us the option to disable it entirely. (Though that would be bad when you need it while falling) but I’ll take that than nothing. “Go for the Gold” Achievement jumping puzzle doesnt have glider disabled and certain jumping platforms I always mess up because of the dumb glider getting triggered. It’s frustrating. This isn’t something I can just “L2P” this is something that mechanically interferes with gameplay and can be avoided if the option to keybind glider was available.

I have never seen a sadder suggestion on these forums lol.

Well… between the first suggestion and some of the other ideas tossed out, I think there’s an actually interesting idea or two we can play with.

First, keep in mind that this would be for the home instance. Other people than us live there, so… why not build on that? We can make friends with cats to populate the area, why not other NPCs? Now, I’m not talking love interests, just interesting NPCs. Imagine getting an old granny type to move into Salma, and as a reward she sells you some minor food. Or a young brewer in Hoelbrak, and maybe a researcher in Rata Sum.

Then, once we have them there, maybe they can unlock a second task for us. Maybe Granny has some missing family she tells us about, and we can track them down for her. Or the young brewer remembers that his dead mentor once mentioned writing down his recipes somewhere safe. Off we go again, and when it’s done we’ve added an extra person or two in the home instance, and maybe expanded the benefit of the first NPC.

And if you’re worried that they’ll crowd the instance, maybe they could replace some of the more generic NPCs in the area, instead of just adding to the population.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Don’t forget Dwarfgu (dwarf/tengu)

Coming next in Hybrid Wars 2

As far dwarf hybrids go I think the name should acknowledge one specific feature, that the dwarves are made of stone and that Ogden Stonehealer is most likely the sire since he’s the one dwarf that’s consistently above ground. Therefore I suggest that the dwarf hybrids be known as a group by the name Stoner and then the name of the other race(s).

Examples:
Stoner Skorn: Dwarf Skritt Norn
Stoner Quakarr: Dwarf Quaggan Skritt Charr

Now that I think about it…can we mix Elder Dragons with smth too?

Of course we can! Logic, lore and common sense has no place in a thread like this.

How about an Elder Dragon and a Largos to get a…. Largon? Draglar? Largos-n-Drag?

Well I think we must honor OP’s wish first. So I suggest add an option to make Zhaitan your waifu (and other ED too ofc)

I think I’ll need a bigger home instance.

Be careful what you ask for

1000 gems per cape

How much do you want capes in the game?
Will you spend 1000 gems for a Cape skin (backpiece)?

While I would like to see capes also but I’d suggest giving up on it because there are too many cape haters. They’d rather wear those wings that block everyone’s visibility plus clip everything and everyone around them because it makes them look like a peakitten strutting around in mating season. I dislike that they pair back pack wing skins with glider skins. I refuse to buy any that are paired like that.

To me any wings that aren’t in use gliding should be tucked back cape style. Expanded wings should come with a negative cost on movement while running because of increased wind resistance.

Wings and feathers are specifically built to be aerodynamic so I doubt there’s much wind resistance, either running or flying.

Wrong. Running with wings open inhibits aerodynamics. There’s a reason birds close their wings during flight when they are not gliding or flapping ; they’re open to create resistance. The only wings we have that flap are Crystalline and do not contain feathers.

A bird’s wingtip feathers must twist in one direction during the upstroke of the wings and in the other direction during the down stroke to keep the local wind striking the wing at an appropriate angle to generate lift and thrust. The aerodynamics are improved and material saved if the local flow forces twist the feather by just the right amount. We do not flap our wings.

Or they might close them when running because if they don’t they keep lifting into the air. That’s one theory of how birds evolved flight, by running with wings out they ran faster because lift made them lighter and if they flapped also they lifted more.

https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/origin-of-bird-flight-exp/

So in that case it’s not drag that stops birds now from holding wings out when running but increased difficulty in staying on the ground if they do so because modern bird wings are so aerodynamic.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

would love the “getting home with a family” option, however, only if we also get our own home to go back to.

What if we had the option to have cross racial NPC spouses. Your human character could have the option to go to his home instance and be greeted by his Charr wife and their litter of cute half human/half Charr kiddies.

Yes. My human Thief still wants to marry the female charr of his dreams. It could all happen within my Home Instance, so there’d be no breaking of the cannon storyline. And I would love to have hybrid children with my charr spouse. In real life, the closest I can get to this lifestyle is wearing a costume. If I could get this in game, it would be my new second life!

The Legendary Journey (sanity check)

@OP

You can do the WvW reward track without fighting a single player, just by capping Sentries, Flipping Supply Camps, Killing Dolyaks, Running Dolyaks into bases, repair Walls, claiming Shrines, on top of the Daily WvW reward potions. It takes about 10-20mins to max participation this way.

And if you have boosters and keep your participation up at 195 you will have it done in 4.3 hours without fighting a single player.

The intent of Legendaries is to play along a Gamemodes, just be happy they removed WvW map completion from the Gift of Exploration.

Honestly someone who can’t competently complete a reward track isn’t very legendary deserving.

It’s going a little OT, but okay.. I’m fine with things like snowball fights etc. because the playing field is balanced totally you cannot bring anything new and custom so I lose or win based on my efforts, conversely PvP where you can bring whatever you like I hate because it’s basically a toss up who wins, of course they say the balance patch etc. skills but really it couldn’t be further from the truth if they tried from my point of view, it’s all a random numbers game from internet connection to skill button press & and which ones you brought, so snowball fights are fun at least there is some modicum of ‘actual’ skill, not that I’m any good at that either but still I’m happier with that.

Actually that could be a whole new game type (if it doesn’t already exist) you get a build that day/week that’s all you can use in PvP for that class next week changes, no need to upgrade anything everything is preset, just click play.

I hope they actually do follow through on making Tengu playable. I’ve seen a few complaints of a “Lack of Space” for them – Nonsense. There are two gaping “Insert Tengu Here” holes in the map already – one roughly city-sized between Kessex Hills, Gendarran Fields, and Lion’s Arch, and a conspicuously Starter-zone shaped hole between Caledon Forest, Kessex Hills, and Claw Island.

Account Verification? Huh?

I agree with IllConceived. It reports to me that I must own HoT, then reports that I do, then reports that my new account must be validated, and reports that it has. So what’s it’s point? If they’ve determined I own HoT, and am a validated account, then why interrupt the transaction and announce it to me? Just do the transaction.

For the last 100 or so years I’ve done software for a living, and this screams of amateur debug code, either left in the client accidentally, or ill designed in the first place.

I expect no nourishment from customer support on this type of matter in normal times, and this is holiday season in ANETsville. OTOH, if enough players are seeing it, it’s likely a code bug and hot a malware irritant. It requires clearing the error message, the TP window, and any other open panels to restart the transaction.

Account Verification? Huh?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Illconceived Was Na.9781

Illconceived Was Na.9781

I am 90% sure that what y’all are seeing is completely unrelated to your account status. It appears to be one of those glitches where the error-reporting software has found a problem and is trying to be ‘helpful’ in identifying it, but failing miserably in its task. (Somewhat like a car’s computer cheerfully reminding you to get your oil checked when the engine case has cracked and all the fluids have drained onto the ground.)

What I suspect is that your game is having trouble connecting with the authorization server to verify your status — this is something that the game does periodically as you play and when you start a TP session. Since you’re still connected to the game server, the error-reporting code assumes the issue is with your account, rather than with the connection.

I’m sure that’s all very interesting (if true), but not very useful — what should you do?

Here are some things that have often fixed such issues for others:

  • Restarting the game.
  • Clearing the game’s cache. (See this thread)
  • Repairing the game’s database
  • Closing the game, restarting your router, restarting the game (only if you use a dynamic IP address) or using/changing a proxy server (if that’s an easy option for you)

or sometimes the ‘problem’ will resolve it self just by waiting and retrying later

Winter's Presence Feedback [merged]

Ophidia Moonstone.2587

I do think anet should nerf it next season. The achievement has been around for few years, they should develop some new activities and allow others to enjoy a skin that should be old news by next year.

As far as I’m aware Winter’s Presence was added in 2015, I don’t think we can call it several years old yet. However I agree that by next year people will be itching for something new.

I did not say “several years”, I said “a few years”. By next year it will be a few years since they released it. A few is defined as between 3 and 6. So, yes, I stand by my opinion that they should either nerf the requirement to make it, or nerf the jp itself. It isn’t a legendary weapon, it is a skin. And it is a skin related to content that is only accessible a month a year. It is associated with content that many many players find beyond the capacity of their their computer specs. I don’t see how allowing more people to enjoy this skin is hurting those who’ve had it special for 3 years by the time next wintersday comes around. They nerf’d the night fury batwings drop, I didn’t complain.
