I also think it may be an animation issue if everyone is wearing capes while zerging or boss fights. The engine has enough issues in crowds already.

Yes, and even own all houses (ok, at least 10) in every city and collect so much rent.
There is a lot of content and story potential within the home instances. Rather than entering into relationships with individual NPCS, I would prefer to be the mayor/benefactor of the home instances. With my help, those two humans who can’t afford to start a family could and the Krewe that was displaced by dragons could set up operations. I have been working on a broader description of what I mean and some day will get it on paper.

Different spouses of each race in every city XD So it’s human wife in DR, Charr in Black Citadel, Asura in Rata Sum, etc.
Also since it’s supposed to be as realistic as possible, you need to give them all gold. Every week.
It’s not only a L2P issue but is also potentially a hardware issue. I’ve tested on my keyboard hopping to a metronome. At 100 BPM I don’t jump about 20% of the time when I simply do a quick tap. Poor keyboard, physical disability, whatever to make jump work 100% of the time I’m really close to the timing that triggers the glider.

So far in this thread its just you Dreamy so try to not blow it out of proportions.
If you learned in old games to hold down jump to move further how can you not learn in new games to do the opposite?
In my oppinion this is not something they need to waste time on.
So far it’s Dreamy in this thread, but this is a topic that comes up repeatedly so obviously it’s a problem for a number of people
Just a few of the many forum threads about gliding and jumping puzzles.

ANet may give it to you.
Personally I don’t have a problem with the glider. However I can see why some people might have them. Old habits are hard to kill.
As long as the current method of deploying the glider still remains an option (like suggested by op), I’d say go fot it. More options are almost always good.
This isn’t a L2P issue…
This is a System/Mechanic issue which can be solved by adding the options neccessary so all players can use the keys that works best for them.
I’m all for options. When the game started, I had a problem with AoE skills due to my really bad hands using the mouse. I even stopped playing for awhile. Between then and now, they added the option to snap AoE circles to target, which I happily use now to “mouseless” target my AoEs. Options, people! They’re awesome!
So, yes, options are always good. Personally, I love jump-and-hold, because it works for me, but having an option for other people to change it just for them would be awesome.
Indeed! Options are good! That’s is my point!
I’m glad they added the snap AoE circle to target option for players like you who needed it. And I’m glad you enjoy the current glide system. I just hope they add more options on how we get to activate glider cause that is killing the game for me with current system. Clearly this wasn’t an issue until they added the gliding system and now I just can’t for the life of me stand it anymore. It’s broken for me. The current system doesn’t feel natural to how I used to play it. I hope they give us more options so we can choose HOW we want to activate glider.
Choices ArenaNet. Give us Choices! Let us decide what feels natural when it comes to activating glider.
I really can’t understand the want for capes, considering most of that desire comes from gw1. Those capes were awful (I disabled in every mode I could).
I can see a cape working as a glider, fluttering in the wind. Dyeable too, that way.
As a backpack-like thing? No way.
you mean like superman’s cape?
More like Batmans…. Superman flies.
….. And Elementalist.

I don’t mind capes but I don’t get the obsession with them on this forum and some for other games.
Depending on what they look like I might use them on one character, but I wouldn’t want to give up all the other cool back items completely and I wouldn’t pay more than we do for normal back items.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
No interest in having a cape
I, too, kept my cape hidden in Guild Wars 1, and since I never PvP, it was hidden 100% of the time.
I really don’t understand this cape fettish people have. ~shrug~

I’d pay money to let us pick old single piece outfit items they retired from the game and mix-n-match to have it stamped as an outfit?

Subject: Dredge Commissar Champion in Dredgehaunt Cliffs (Tribulation Rift)
wiki link NPC : https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Champion_Dredge_Commissar
wiki link event: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defeat_the_dredge_commissar_
Issue: This Champion drops a part of a collection that I like to farm. What really grinds my gears is the fact that I go around the map doing dredge events to force the spawn of commissar. Eventually I see on the map champion icon, but by the time I get to the champion spawn, people who were camping the spawn kill him. This really discourages players such as myself from playing the events around the map.
Suggestion: Move the champion spawn closer to a waypoint or create some sort of timer to warn about champion spawn in the area of In Persuit of Knowledge meta.
this will give players who actually do the events in the area a fair chance to reach champion.
Capes don’t look good in games. Do not want.
I always hid my cape in Guild Wars and never liked that I couldn’t hide them in PVP.
I’ll pay 0 gems for capes, to me they are a waste of resources to make.
I’m yet to meet a player in-game that wants capes, yet weirdly it’s a regular topic on these forums!
I’m afraid I was never big on capes in GW1. I much prefer my wings.

I really never displayed my cape in all those years in Guild Wars, either.
So, no, I would not pay 1000 Gems. Not even 10 Gems.
Speaking only for myself, I always hid my cape in GW, and resented that I had to display it in PvP. Omm (obviously) v.
Quaggan’s taste good on the barbie
No this is so dumb!
When I do long jumps I like holding down the spacebar!
That is how I play games that have Jump…You use the controls wrong so the game is being dumb? Ok…
Another l2p issue. You’re used to holding spacebar despite the fact it doesn’t add any distance to the jump.
Exactly. Learn not to hold space bar for jumping. Problem solved.
Most jumping puzzles disable gliding anyway..I’m NOT using the controls wrong noob.
This is how I use the controls since GW2 beta when doing jumping puzzles. This is how I played it before the stupid gliders came into the game. I shouldn’t be forced to use a jump key any different because they added a gliding option which btw still cannot be disabled by choice.Problem is people play and use keys differently and this is how I use it.
This system is BROKEN…
It needs FIXING…
Best FIX is to ADD 3 Options I suggested:Option#1 – Double-tap spacebar to glide
Option#2 – Hold spacebar to glide
Option#3 – Keybind a key to glidePROBLEM SOLVED….
Seriously…If you like how it is now then great… But I don’t and I’m not the only one… I mess up a lot because of this stupid gliding system and my suggestion simply adds options for players to play the way they want that works best for them. What works best for me is double tapping spacebar and/or keybinding glider to avoid turning my jumps into glide when doing jumping puzzles.
So because you’re too stubborn to evolve your key usage, you expect Anet to change it around you?
edit: and yes I used to have this problem, I would hold space for too long. However I’ve gotten used to it now.
I’m NOT being stobborn. I’m being reasonable!
I’m not asking them to change the system, I’m asking them to add options so that we the players can change it so the individual can choose what best suits them.
Why are you so against options?
I played GW2 since BETA… We didn’t have Gliders in Beta!
That is how LONG I have played this game. I tried to get “used to not holding down spacebar for long jumps” but it doesnt work for me! I always ALWAYS mess up because glider activation screws me over no matter how hard I try. This is clearly avoidable with the options I have presented. Giving us options to keybind glider activation and giving us the option to make double-tap spacebar to glide will solve this issue. This is a fact. When you give people choices then problems like this wouldn’t even occur in the first place. Just because the current option works for you doesn’t mean it should work for everybody else. No.. that is not how real life works. What works for some people wont work for others and that is why we need to encourage developers to give us options. This attitude of “Deal with it” or “Get good” is toxic and needs to die. It doesn’t encourage innovation or perfection. It encourages devs to be lazy about an issue that can easily be solved with a few codes…
Please fix this issue!
I am not the only one with this issue ArenaNet.
A lot of us has problems with this and the best solution is to give us the option to double-tap to glide and/or keybind the glide function.
Honestly, this isn’t something I can get used too with current system.
It simply doesn’t work for me at all. The system to me is broken because glide always triggers no matter how hard I try NOT to hold the stupid spacebar but it always triggers. Before gliding was introduced, I did not have this issue and I loved the jumping mechanics but now with gliding introduced, this issue always occurs and I hate it so much.
Consider this: Other people can’t adopt to this broken system. Give us options so it would work for everyone. The 3 options I mentioned honestly solves everything.
Dodging for example, double-tap to evade does not work well for me. Because you have the option to disable it and to keybind dodge, I never had any issues but there are other people who prefer the double-tap to dodge and that is wonderful for them! But it’s not for me! It would mess me up… This is the same case with the gliding system… Give us option to keybind glider and Give us the option to double-tap spacebar to glide and problem solved.
This is an issue for a lot of people…
Sure there are a lot of people who can adopt and like it how it is, but please do NOT ignore the people who cannot adopt to this and who mess up because of this dumb system. I assure you, it is not a waste of time or resources. Gliding is pretty much a vital part of your game and when it becomes something that interference with gameplay rather than enhancing it the gameplay experience then we have a problem. And this problem needs to be solved so please do not ignore it.
Also don’t underestimate that some players have iffy keyboards where the spacebar doesn’t always trigger right away when tapped so there’s a need to press and hold until they see their character jump. Or keyboards that can’t reliably chord some combinations of keys.
Not everyone owns a gamer keyboard with real switches but the mushy keyboards that came with their system.
