LA misses a vital thing for a harbour city: SHIPS!
And for the trade hub of the known world it really needs more clutter from merchants with stalls, strange sights from around the globe, performances from magicians and firebreathers, inventors showing off their newest gadgets, wild animals in cages, to bars with drunken sailors, it all feels so sterile and so many empty spaces.
It should feel like an eastern bazaar of curiousity’s instead of a waiting room at the dentist.
Artisans and stalls could rotate in a bi-monthly roster so that sellers have different knik-knaks to buy and collect for the players.
Special hat makers, toymakers, tonic brewers etc.
I could go on forever

Oooohhh… Oh this, me like.

I do not mind new LS, it is cool but it could have something more. At the moment I have parked all my characters in DR becouse I think it is better with the merchant bank and TP.

I’m not asking for any major art changes to new LA.

What about the simple addition of a Lion statue where the old one used to be?

What about some Storyteller NPCs so all the work that the artists went to is still appreciated?

What about centering Festivals in LA again to restore some significance to the city for players?

See? No huge artistic changes to make. Just a few suggestions to help make the city loved by more people again.

(I miss my Lion!)

I also prefer the original GW2 Lion’s Arch. It not only had more character, but was much easier to navigate. Now it feels like, to quote others, a “theme park”. It does not feel like a place where people live at all. Everything is too large, spaced too far apart. The decor is odd-looking, to say the least. It doesn’t’ feel like an international (Tyrian) city. Sure, you can also argue that the original LA didn’t feel “international” either, but it just was more aesthetically-pleasing.

I wish they would add some kind of fractal that was based around old Lion’s Arch. It would remove alot of level designing from the equation since most of it is already there.

Yes… Scarlet didn’t destroy much of that. The remains are still in the bay. Thank goodness the game designers didn’t destroy it either when they rebuilt.

I love LA! …The OLD Lion’s Arch, that is.

I finally used my straight-to-level-80 item and have been playing my Personal Story in one continuous shot. (Something you can’t normally do. You have to run around leveling up between episodes before you can continue. It really breaks the story apart. But I digress.)

I got to the stage where I visit LA, and was treated to the OLD Lion’s Arch. So much more character! So less “sterile”! And it somehow doesn’t seem so spread out. (Maybe because it’s emptier of people these days).

Unfortunately, I only got to re-explore the area near the fountain. But that was enough to make me homesick.

New LA needs 3 things:

  • It needs the Lion Statue back in the Grand Piazza where it belongs. Preferably with open air above him. (Cut a big hole in that giant abominable umbrella!)
  • It needs “Storyteller” NPCs in all the districts/wards that can replay cinematics of the old town, just like the Zephyr Sanctum Model.
  • It needs to become a social hub again. Wintersday only a human holiday now? Preposterous! Is Tixx human? Lion’s Arch is supposed to be the great gathering port where all the races mingle together. Put all the Holidays back where they belong. (Well… okay. Meatoberfest is probably best held in the Black Citadel).

Unlimited gathering items

Can we please make these retrievable items like the skins you get from AP chests? Seems silly to spend the gems so one toon can benefit when we have 9+ toons.

You can also do this:

1) Since you are going to spend gems for the unlimited gathering tools, just spend some more and buy three shared inventory slots.
2) Put your unlimited gathering tools in the shared inventory slots, then double-click to switch them with the regular gathering tools equipped on your character.
3) Before logging off with your current character, remember to put the unlimited gathering tools back in the shared inventory slots.
4) Log in with another character, and repeat the process.

Congratulations, you now have unlimited gathering tools on all of your characters.

I don’t disagree. I’m not sure, however, that Anet intended for Elite Skills to be vastly more powerful than other utilities. IMO I think they just wanted them slightly more powerful or unique.

Some of the mesmer’s elites are not game changing powerful in PvE but they are unique and fun. Different than their other utility skills. That is what is lacking IMO.

To many of the other professions skills aren’t that much different than other utilities and therefore don’t feel very “elite” because of this.

Glyph of greater elementals comes to mind, which is nearly identical to the glyph of lesser elementals utility.
I believe that elementalists are the worst offenders when it comes to bad elite skills. The biggest gem is definitely tornado, which even after the buff from last patch, is still considered to be the 50% risk of slotting elixir X on your engineer. If slotting utilities in the elite slot was an option, I don’t think that any elementalist would ever use an elite.

People have suggested something similar and referred to it as “custom outfits”. You decide on the armor pieces that make up the outfit and store those along with ‘outfits’ somehow.

I’d pay gems for that.

Is it just me or are the vast majority of elite skills merely another utility skill with a 3 times higher cool down for inexplicable reasons?

The game basically plays like a moba with the limited amount of skills you can use in a build but in that genre elite skills tend to be game changers or really noticable spikes in your combos.

However, when I look at the elite skills of ranger, ele, engineer, warrior or guardian (except for dragonhunter) their elite skills are anything but game changing. Perhaps this is more noticable in PVP. In PVE I don’t see the difference an elite version of my air elemental which still doesn’t deal any significant damage makes.
I also don’t see the point in mortar which deals less power damage and has less range than a ranger’s long bow and only has 1 damaging condition but is infinitely hard to land shots with in return. Or how about an AoE root which champions and ranged enemies simply ignore?

Even if it’s a PVE issue, how is Rebound! any good in pvp with it’s cast time? You’re probably dead before you can use it and it only absorbing one hit doesn’t really matter when people spam you with conditions and multi-hit abilities.

Of all the classes I play, only mesmer’s elite skills seem to make a noticable difference.

Now I don’t say all these skills don’t have their times shine. It’s easy to make up niche situations where they might do what they’re intended to do and perhaps they’re even effecitve at it some times. However, does that really match the expectations of an elite skill? Does this really warrant a 3 or 4 times longer cooldown than most of your utility skills?

If you disagree- let me ask you this: Are you sure you wouldn’t some times, or with some classes, prefer a 4th utility skill slot over an elite one?

P2W looks bad because other mmo doesnt have SPVP MOBA ESPORT like gw2.

selling legendaries with more stats than regular exotic/ascended is some type of P2W too.

u pay and u win.

doesn’t matter the top tier gear has high different in term of power or low (like gw2 legendaries)

gw2 itself is P2W

Have you even played the game? Nowhere in the gemstore can you buy legendaries.
I’m going to assume you’re new, and please excuse me if I assume wrong, but
HINT: Most of the time you have to craft legendaries. If you pay, you get cool cosmetics and maybe some extra neat things.

I see that you don’t know too much about high gear, so again going out on a limb and assuming you’re new.
HINT: It’s a 10% difference between Exotic and Ascended and Ascended and Legendary. I’m not too sure about armor, but it would probably follow the same path. You also have to earn most of the currencies/items to craft the ascended item. Sure you could wait for it to drop, but then you could get the one you don’t want.

Mods did I miss a page on the gemstore? I think my pw2 legendaries page is missing P2W looks bad because games that DO have P2W end up dying and then people that want P2W come flooding into other games. It’s like a sickness. You know a game in the west has kicked the bucket when they rush out P2W, because at that point they are more worried about paying bills than the game itself and the game itself rapidly devaluates so they need to get money to bail on the game.

Actually plenty of mmos have that MOBA, even wow does at one point. I forgot what its called cause I no longer care or play. I’m not sure why you’re bringing this point up as this is beside your point of wanting a way to pay to win. In fact bringing this up makes your argument weaker because even there players earned what they had.
GW2 is not Pay to Win and you need to play the game, if you have not done so already. You really are missing out on an action packed, no $$$ needed adventure. I’d even go as far to say that Anet is under-pricing GW2. For as much fun as I’ve had I would’ve expected to pay $200, but all this for $50?! CRAZY. Technically I did pay that, if you count gems and all. And their business model seems to work, players like me buy gems. Also players in the west hate paywalls. You don’t understand how much they hate them. They will rage quit and tell all their gamer friends, who just so happen to be your target audience. I’ve done extensive research on MMOs and right now is not the time unless you have something truly groundbreaking. P2W out the wazoo is not groundbreaking.

So you have 2 option to get legendary weapon.

1. Grind it.

2. Buy Gems and convert to gold. P2W.

Anet is genius, other company fail in P2W model because their product is overpriced. Anet, not, they are not a greedy company. Anet even very generous, they give plenty of golds reward ingame (chest items that can be converted to gold)

Let see why other top mmorpg fail in P2W model?

1. Archeage.

- Fail because no megaserver. GW2 were using megaserver, that is very genius!. Megaserver make the game look populated. Archeage divide the player using server and ban any communication in map chat until u reach lvl 15. That is so stupid.

- Fail because no SPVP ESPORT. SPVP will attract moba players that will populate the game. Like gw2 did with SPVP.

- Fail because the existence of Black desert online. bdo and archeage was very similar, hence pve grind. With advance bdo graphic, they beat all other mmo on the market today.

You seriously need to get in the game and start playing it and you’ll realize that gems won’t get you very far to a legendary weapon. The currencies you need, you have to EARN them to make the legendary.

So again, not P2W.

If this is another what would we like in the gem store thread, I’d agree we need more variety and customization in bodies, faces and armors, outfits, and more dances, which could all be sold in the gem store. ( everyone looks so similar to me) And I would totally LOVE some stylish armor/outfits for a change like other games make. I’m sure Anet could make them too or maybe consider hiring some one who could . Something like this would be cool.

This is not that thread. This is an information thread about what sales are happening. A red post not far above yours asks people not to debate and discuss here.

Hopefully you will see this before your post and all the following derails (which are not your fault), including this post of mine, get moved or deleted.

That post, and many others was placed in this thread by a Moderator. I think they merged into the wrong thread. All the ‘derails’ were a separate thread down in GD.

Correct. The sticky thread, which is intended to be a listing of Gem Store offerings, became a victim of conversational zerging, it seems through a moderator error. I’ve split this off so that if you wish to continue the conversation, you may do so.

The sticky thread should be left without conversation, please, as it’s intended as a quick and easily-reviewed listing of Gem Store items.

Thanks.

~snip~

~snip~

Mount is not basic human need, most people at that time walked, just like you should in-game. Horses were and continue to be expensive. Right now Horses are only for rich horse-girls. Back then In Medieval times Horses were for Knights and those would can afford them. I’m not even sure why you’re mentioning this since GW2 is a fictional game where magic exists. I sure would love some magic in this real world.

You didn’t say to get rid of some waypoints, but someone was going to regardless and I cut them off preemptively.

You didn’t hear of it cause the pay to win killed the game. It killed the game, and the publisher was punished for P2W. I don’t think you are understanding just how bad western players hate P2W. They hate it with a such passion that they will voice negatively how much they dislike it to anyone that also plays games. They hate it so much they will spend large amounts of time saying how much they hate it than play a different game. Game “Journalists” will also promote how bad the P2W is and further create bad press. For a market that hates P2W with a fury of 1000 suns, that spells trouble. Maybe it doesn’t in eastern markets, but for the west that’s the way it is. That game I referenced was supposed to sell tons and tons and was supposed to be a money printer. However, once word got out that it was P2W, the game went to the discount rack because nobody wanted to touch it. I returned my copy for full refund. That is how badly the western market reacts to P2W. Players will get tired of not being able to compete against P2W and leave. Eventually enough bad reputation will be generated due to P2W status that everyone knows not to play that game and the game closes. Unsurprisingly such games that have P2W come from eastern markets? Hmmm…

P2W is not fine, it might be fine in eastern markets, but in western markets they spell doom for games. Players in the west, just. will. not. submit. to. P2W. In eastern markets maybe it’s not death, but this is a different market and here people want fairness and for rewards to be earned. I hear the Chinese GW2 has all the pay to win your heart desires. Oh look it also is in an eastern market. (I’m putting smileys up so you don’t think im being hostile. Tone is very important these days.)

People in the west are not brainwashed, they understand pay to win is terrible. There’s even a term for P2W games, “Cash Grab”. P2W is only good for bad, and unskilled players who want to wallet to the top, but here, you have to earn your way up. Western markets value earning your way up over buying your way up. I say this as someone who has walleted their way to the top only to leave a few months later, and yes, very unskilled. Sub games like Wow are actually on their way out, I played WoW for a while and I cancelled my sub for this game. I’ll let that speak for itself as to which game is better. I even played some P2W games, I’m here which means those games did not captivate my attention after they were revealed to be a money grab hidden under a blanket of fake-fun. Old WoW was good, but they don’t understand the market the way Anet does. Which is why Anet holds strong and firm, while WoW wanes and depletes.

Actually free players provide a very valuable service to the game by being content in and of themselves. While this seems counter-intuitive let me explain, players like me who spend money for cosmetics want to play with other players. We want to show off our cool things, and want to show what we have earned. We also need to sell things to other players. So yes, a player influx is very good for the game as it leads to full game purchases, gem purchases, and more money for Anet. Otherwise those trials would just sit on the sidelines and not purchase anything, and it’s only buy game or no buy. For some players that’s a hard choice, for others it’s a simple option.

If something is free, maybe you are the product. For facebook the users are the product, and advertisers purchase access to the product. It just also accidentally happens to also be a social media site where literally everyone is, and provides a neat feature that lets you network with your friends. Google has a similar approach, provide people a place to view videos and let advertisers pay to advertise to the viewers.

So in sum Mounts bad, P2W bad. I seriously can’t wait for you to try your hand at an MMO. I’ll be here waiting for news of your grand success. Here’s to a new millionaire!

not sure if troll or ..
Anet went really far out of their way to give everyone, regardless of being poor or rich in real life, the same chances. Thats why legendary gear is more flexible, but not more effictive than ascended gear. So that real life poor people have a good chance at it.

Secondly, mounts? No! I don’t know how long you’ve been on the forum, but moutns get brought up once a month, only to be followed by 3-4 pages of people saying how it’s the worst idea ever.

More races and classes? No thanks, we won’t get new races because anet has trouble enough smoothing out the gear on the current 5. And we won’t get new classes, since Anet works with the elite specialization system.

Face Packs, hairstyles, these already exists. The fact that you’re requesting them shows how little research you did before writing your post. Same with cosmetic tools and weapons.

Long story short, I feel like you came from the wrong franchise to the wrong new game. Maybe games like WoW and Aeon are more up your lane if you want a P2W model.

Im not a troll. im thinking like an mmorpg developer. its my dream to be mmorpg dev team.

About facepacks. Yes gw2 has its on makeover kits. But i want more. More faces. More cosmetics

I have been in this forum since 2013.

My home instance is my guild. Literally. I dumped a heck load of gold into scribing so I could craft myself a bed, table and lamp so my quiet corner of the city would be a “home”.

I just wish Anet would allow players to loot unlocked nodes in guild halls instead of their home instances so I could “move” into my guild hall good and proper -.-
