you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”
Maximum efficiency is less than about a minute per apple, so at worst, it’s an hour of effort. (Only the first apple or two might take longer, til you figure out how to go back/forth quickly.) Mind you: it’s so stupefyingly boring to me, that it feels like hours of grinding.
Yes, which, however people insist on defending it, is a BAD GAME DESIGN.
And I would argue that many Mastery Points are a lot more difficult to attain. I suppose it’s a matter of perspective. If this particular Mastery Point was the most difficult to attain in the game, I would be happy.
Again, nobody is arguing that this one is difficult, it obviously is not. The argument being made is that it is not FUN, and there’s no good reason why it shouldn’t be.
I wish all Mastery Points were this easy to achieve, grindy or not.
I would argue that there are many mastery points that are easier to obtain: ie the pillars of light. Even the mastery points where you have to fight a boss, you can complete that battle in 1/10 the time, and the battle is fun, not overly repeditive grind of running back and forth. Isn’t that why Anet chose to go with hearts instead of the traditional mmo quest, because they didn’t want players to have to run back and forth… hmmmmm

I dont think that 1-2 hours for a title is too much effort. It should have been more grindy to be honest
As others have said, it’s not the 1-2 hours that’s the problem. The issue is that it is 1-2 hours of a repetitive boring activity. If it was 1-2 hours of a repetitive fun activity (e.g., slaying monsters) no one would complain.
If the game is not fun, we should not play it, so we should not support this kind of design.

It’s not the time that’s a problem, it’s the grindy nature of it. It requires very little creative gameplay, basically running the same loop over and over, but at the same time requires just enough attention to get there and back that you can’t just coast through it, you need to actively pay attention. It’s like working checkout at a retail place, just engaging enough that you can’t think about anything else, but not engaging enough to actually keep you fully occupied.
This is the worst possible gaming state for a game to achieve.
It is the “Razzie” of game design, and should be avoided whenever possible. Any game element should either be fun enough that players actively enjoy pursuing it (even if they have to do it over and over, each time is enjoyable enough), OR be so mindless that they can do it on autopilot and focus their attention on something else (like the various "kill 100 of these things, eventually) quests. This achievement fails at both.
I really hate this achievement. Not only does it take 2-3 minutes per apple, running back and forth over and over again, but there’s not even enough apple trees to do it in one day, so you have to come back the next day, and the next. So so sooooooo grindy. I don’t want to feed the lazy bumb, I want to push him off the cliff?
Oh, that would be cool! Make an alternate achievement, where if you press f while you don’t have an apple, you get the chance to send him to the grave. I mean seriously man, I’ve got a couple gliders in my backpack, take one and go get your own apple your lazy bumb!
You can hop to another map instance. It takes about 4 instances to complete it. It may also work by swapping to another character but I didn’t do it that way.
It’s still way too grindy. Making something long, overly repeditive and tedius does not make it hard, just makes it annoying. Achievements like this are what people hate about MMOS, and only serve to incite player irritation. There’s just no need for so many apple runs.
Here are some things I would like:
-Unending Guild Enhancements: It’d be nice if when you choose a guild enhancement like the gathering boost that it wouldn’t go away unless you choose a different one. Instead of having to remember to refresh it after the 24 hrs it up.
-District Drop Down Menus For Maps: What I mean by this is in guild wars 1 you guys had a great setup for maps where when in a specific map like Lion’s Arch or Queensdale there would be a drop down menu of available versions of that map which I think were called Districts. So, in the upper right corner of the screen between the party and game menu there would be a drop down menu saying District 1-10 or however many versions of the map there are available. I think if you guys bring this system over to guild wars 2 it would help with the overflow maps. That way people can see how many maps are open and be able to move between them more smoothly if there are problems like bugged events and stuff then they could try a different district. If there are a ton of people on a map there will be more districts. If there are districts with no people on them then the map will close like how they do now with a warning to move to the more populated map.
-Let Us Dye Weapons and Backpacks
its a new attack. you must experience 9000 screams, then throw a punch.
I would love to have a mini Trahearne! I’d rather have the real him, but it’s better than nothing, no honor, no memorial, no memory. I’d rather have something to hold on to.
But it/ he has to say “This won’t end well”.
Like the Mini Ellen Kiel or Mini Evon Gnashblade.
Yes, you said. In your previous post a few months back.
Again, this forum is for the western version of GW2. Feedback for the Chinese version is best posted on the Chinese GW2 forums, as indicated in the Knowledge Base (accessed via the Support link above/below).
Good luck.
Someone on tumblr posted a screencap of a guy named Freddie Mercury, dressed in pink, with the “Killer Queen” title – that’s game over imo.
Butfart Burnfur, if you played Guild Wars Prophecies, you might understand where that name is inspired from. =D
I thought it was possible that I saw a hydra in the video “Ember Bay: Behind the Scenes”.
I could be wrong, but that looked almost like a hydra to me. At 2:38 in the video, and as part of it walked it by one of the devs said “It was fun to bring some creatures that haven’t seen a lot of play in a while.”
If I’m wrong plz tell so, but to me it looked like it COULD be a hydra.
It was a reptillian butt, could be anything at this point :p
Would be cool if there was a valley with Hydra skeletons. Maybe with an achievement where a hydra ghost spawns. And when you kill it, it walks to a singed skeleton and alligns his death animation with dropping right on it.
I hope the deep sea dragon’s gonna be very lovecraftian! Fear everywhere!
