Have to agree, the Halloween event is one of the best ones out there and is something to look forward to every year. Hope there are some resources being utilized for changes to the events.
Would love to have a Halloween event as awesome as the very first one in GW2. It’s my favorite holiday, and Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2 have always had a tradition of playing it up for sheer awesomeness.
(I just wish the new LA looked as good creepified as the pre-Scarlet one did.)
This is Halloween…. https://youtu.be/gQJbZOldFSw
That one is a lot of fun.
That link doesn’t really specify whether the event would give Maguuma mastery XP or Cental Tyria mastery XP. My guess would be that it will be for Central Tyria. Maguuma seems less likely, but hey, what do I know?
No mastery XP last year from it so not sure if this year they will have it the same.
That was because of a bug. They said it should give mastery XP the next time around.

I think the dragons modeled after toothless in how to train your dragon
I definitely felt that there was something missing in terms of interaction between the player and the dragon hatchling. Yeah, your character clearly tries to protect it from the Destroyers and Lazerus, but you never really acknowledge the hatchling directly. No dialogue towards the dragon itself, just to the other characters ABOUT Aurene. You practically ignore her as you’re talking about her to the others.
I would have liked to see something along those lines at least. Nothing overly involved or anything, but something at least. An “I got your message”, a vow to protect her, anything involving a direct interaction.
I… found Glint’s spawn ugly. In that “We decided that the child of an ancient dragon should be SOOO CUTESY AWW” kind of way. Like, they tried to make it cutesy to pander to easily awed people but wound up making this weird abomination instead, like some Female Humans with the grossly babylike faces.
I also felt the story – as it has been – was pretty weak and the Lazarus twist was poorly done. Guess that’s a minority opinion, though. :B
Um… …wow! So instead of just telling us that you didn’t like the episode, you have to insult those who did. I’m curious. Do you kick puppies for fun?
Anyone remember that challenge mission off Central Transfer Chamber? With the other dragon as we protected it from waves of… oh yeah, destroyers?
Yep, we just replayed that. Except with a bit less help… at least at first. Then a bit more, right as it was getting too… hot… to handle.
Speaking of, didn’t somebody mention a “second scion”? Is the dragon hatchling from EotN perhaps still alive, then?
The whole realization that the Dragons adapt (taking in some of the skillsets of the last) makes me wonder. This probably means Kralk will be the last which is a bummer because I’d have liked to see Primo be the one (he’s the one with the most lore centeralized with him – Alpha and Omega per se’) to last out of all of them. Guess it’ll all depend on how we end up encountering Jormag.
Perhaps Episode 3 will feature Braham breaking the tooth, signaling the end of the Ice Dragon.
Lets also not forget that that earlier Taimi let the name of the Deep Sea Dragon slip (I assume anyways) with the letter “S”.
So it seems at the end of this all, that little baby dragon Aurene is going to turn into an Elder Dragon comprised of all the Elder Dragons. Turning into Guild Wars 2’s very own Veeshan (EverQuest nod there). But it also means whatever Dragon is left standing before that, will be composed of all the other facets. This also hints at looking back at Subject Alpha in Crucible of Eternity to some capacity.
One thought during the cutscene in the last instance kind of sums it all up:
I want a mini baby dragon… pretty pleeeease ^^
I just loved the whole story! As far as the attachment thing could just really be a thing that the commander is exhausted and has a lot to deal with. I am super curious where the whole story going to go next. And yes I agree, THERE NEEDS TO BE A PLUSHIE! ANET YOU MUST GIVE US A PLUSHIE!!!! THE PEOPLE DEMAND A PLUSHIE!!!
It’s just… Such a good lil’ dragon babe Q.Q
We must make it grow into a good big ol’ dragon now!
My reaction to the cutscene in the last instance: “cuuuuuuuuuute”(a brief pause) (dragon starts making “scary” noises toward destroyers) “hoooooow cuuuuuute” (makes crapload of screenshots)
After staring in disbelief for a few seconds (because of all things, I did NOT expect two giant, yellow, adorable, baby dragon eyes) I found myself praying for ANet to license an official plushie. Or at LEAST a minipet.
But I really want a plushie……cough cough for my daughter of course. cough
I had MAJOR deja vu in this fight. Went only slightly better than last time
The dragons gaining powers is awesome. Never expected that.
The one thing that bugs me is my characters reactions. I wasn’t mad at Caithe in HoT. I trust Marjory and wouldn’t tell her not to follow Lazarus. I just don’t like those reactions.
If you listen to how Lazarus speaks, he quickly states that he has proven himself useful and all but states that he is entitled to be counted as an ally because of his minor action. That dialogue reeks of ulterior motive.
Also, Marjory is a Necromancer. There were quite a few necromancer Murssat back in GW1 in memory serves. (And checking on the gw1 wiki confirmed that Lazarus was Necro / Ele) Perhaps that’s why Marjory said she felt a strange sensation being around Lazarus? They are both necromancers?
At this point, the ultimate plot twist would be for Lazarus to mean every single word and stay a truthful ally right to the end.
The community paranoia would be intense and the trolling levels off-the-scale!
I agree that the barrier failing was likely either a technical error (Where’s a good magitech repair man when you need him?) or caused by Aurene somehow.
We need to keep something in mind when it comes to Lazarus – his race was at war with the elder dragons long before humans have been around. Moreover his race opted to hide when it was evident that the ‘elder races’ couldn’t work together to defeat the dragons and that – no matter their power or technology – zhaitan’s armies could not be defeated let alone the death dragon himself. (Risen mursaat and jotun, heh.)
go forward thousands of years later on their latest rise here comes this one individual who manages to not only unite the races/factions together to defeat an elder dragon but does so twice – with the second kill being accomplished with only a few skilled individuals. If I were Lazarus i’d find this very interesting. What allows this one seemingly weaker individual able to perform seemingly impossible feats – feats that his own race failed to accomplish miserably?
On another point with Lazarus, playing ball with the commander for now allows him to eliminate a greater threat to any future plans he has – the elder dragons. He can’t exactly plan his next move when everything on the face of the earth is being wiped out now, can he? He’s currently (re)living in a time where mortals can finally go on the offense and wipe out the elder dragons for good, and if Lazarus participates he can speed things along that much quicker.
lastly despite the enormous amount of magic he absorbed from the broken bloodstone his magic is still considered ‘Mursaat Magic’ and can be countered by the countermagic the Commander knows. (The countermagic was an invention of Zinn, who refined it from the technique the Seers used to create spectral infusion which negates Mursaat Magic) we have seen this dozens of times in bloodstone fen. Supercharged jade armors still having their own spectral agony turned against them, reversing the flow of magic from bloodstone shards. the point being that, despite his enormous boost in strength, the commander is very capable of turning that against him. Plus he won’t be able to keep all that magic forever – eventually he’ll revert to his normal strength in time.
all in all even if he wanted to do otherwise, he needs to play ball with the commander until the elder dragons are dealt with. (Imagine the situation of Thor and Loki from Thor: The Dark World. That kind of situation, but with Lazarus and The Commander.)
One last thing i’d like to point out. How the races would react if they ever discover that The Commander is teaming up with The White Mantle lead by a Mursaat? (the humans and charr specifically come to mind.) just some food for thought.
The 3 silver from finishing them is pretty trivial. They do seem to be vendors for different items, but it’s unclear if it’s a daily rotation or not since buying some things changes the offers.
Finally some place where you can go and just kill mobs and nothing else and feel rewarded ( as farming mobs for drops isnt rewarding in GW2, in GW1 it was).
So now if i feel like just aggroing every mob i see and killing it, not worriend about events objectives i can do with the hearts on ember as they have the options of just kill mobs or do stuff. Hope to see more of it in the future.
Well if people want the NPC’s buffed then the enemies in the story instances should be buffed to make up for it. You get your NPC’s that “do something” and the story instances won’t be one a faceroll where the player won’t have to do anything.
I concur with the op, looking back at how GW1 henchmen worked. Every henchman had a uniqe role that assisted you in exploration, story completion, etc. The npcs in this sequel seems more like wallflowers in combat.
Rytlock came back from the dead for heaven’s sake!
he didn’t die lol. his magic sword fell into the Mists in an experiment-gone-awry and he jumped in after because it’s a magic sword, after all.
I agree with the OP – I don’t understand why Anet makes the rest of my Guild so useless except at rezzing (sometimes). If the instance is supposed to be solo’d by my character, then don’t bother with the NPCs. It just makes what are supposed to be Heroic characters into something laughable. Rytlock came back from the dead for heaven’s sake! With new “powerful” magic!!! And yet he is downed at the drop of a hat (in the first episode in Taimi’s secret room against the chak).
I don’t understand why the devs want these heroes to be pathetic.

Rytlock was a kitten. My mesmer clones (not phantasms) did more dps
At least Rytlock doesn’t fall over at the drop of a hat, like most NPCs. It’d be nice if they could hold aggro in some fashion, so it’s not a constant 5v1 battle in many of the story instances.

I wish we could hide both AP and mastery points because they encourage elitist behavior.
I was gonna say the exact same thing

See there you go. I’m not the only one that would like this option.
People keep saying “just block them” and for some reason blaming me for ever getting harassed, when I simply asked for the option? I just want to be able to not have it visible. I didn’t make this thread to cause an argument, I wanted to suggest a possible feature for players that want it.
I like that I don’t get yelled at by ‘pros’ for not having full ascended gear and stuff because they have no way of knowing what kind of gear I’m actually wearing, and I would like to also have that with my mastery level (and AP like Mea said).
Instead of having to block every jerk that feels like harassing me, why can’t there be a feature that prevents them from giving themselves a reason to harass me in the first place?
The problem is not the number. The problem is the mindset of those peoples that use the number to harass someone. And for that there is already an ingame option. You can simply right click their name in chat and block them.
