FYI – This is available right now!
Agreed. The excessive levels of CC in this game is frustrating at times. A little here and there is okay, but when I’m getting knocked down every 2 seconds because I have run out of dodges, or I have 15 seconds of immobilize and my condi-removal is still recharging, it gets to be very frustrating feeling so helpless when exploring maps.
If I really had any desire to experience bondage, I would prefer to seek that elsewhere.
On that note, Anet can you PLEASE stop with the crazy thinking of “lets make this fight ‘challenging’ by throwing in constant knockdowns/backs” with your new content? all that does is make it annoying and makes me want to hurry up and get through it and not do it again.
No, I don’t think that is necessary. The fauna is fine this way. Unlike other games bushes and flowers are even responding to bullets and characters walking trough. The amount itself is not quite important.
HoT has A LOT more fauna, and I get framerate issues in that area (GTX970 in combination with an i7 3770) and love the smooth and open look of “Central Tyria”.
I’d like to have darker nights and more changes in the weather though. . .
and politically highly incorrect. (#Asuracist)
“We [Asura] are the concentrated magnificence!”
I think the loot is very good considering each mob can be looted by upto 50 people.
In other games if you kill a boss only a handful of people even get loot at all. That makes the loot of course more interesting in itself. But Anet decided against it because they dont want people to compete for loot in PVE.
This problem doesnt just exist in this game , but its in every game Ive played that has instanced content.
Could be something to do with limitations in the game engines related to the creation of instances at log in time , ie you cant put a player into an instance when they log in.
You are probably right. But if I remember correctly, in GW1 there were checkpoints during the quests. I just can’t really imagine checkpoints being so hard to implement, but then again I never worked on something like that myself. If it is possible though, I am sure it would make a lot of players happy.
Disconnections are not always the fault of Anet as people often say. Usually it is your own internet that is the cause of the problem.
If we are talking about LA from GW1, then sign me up! I always loved that place, I still wander about it now when I play GW1. The view from the light house……. was said when it got crashed into in GW2.

Then you obviously haven’t read anything in this thread and will continue getting kicked like that until you understand why.
So I’ll get kicked for joining, linking gear and not already having the exact build the raid leader wants already equipped? I’ll just activate my psychic powers…. As I’ve said how the hell can I tell what the raid leader needs if their only interaction is link gear, kick.
I think I’m not the one in need of a re-read
Go to a site like metabattle and check the builds there, that’s what the leader wants already equipped, it’s not rocket science. The builds raid leaders expect are readily available for everyone to see. You read the build, acquire the build, get confident with the build and start raiding with randoms.
And to re-iterate for the thousandth time, the reason they do this is not because they are evil or as you call them “morons”. They don’t know you, they don’t care to know you, they want a speedy, efficient, as effortless as possible run, and it’s their right to want it. Therefore they expect you to have the build ready beforehand, and knowledge of the mechanics. It’s up to you to either adapt to it and be ready, or if you want to train look for a training run, there are a few around.

Continuing the analogy, in effect you refused to accept the trainer’s restrictions. That’s why you didn’t get the opportunity to demonstrate, not because they don’t think it’s possible to use other builds.
Again there were no restrictions imposed, the LFG simply had looking for members with very limited titles, upon entering I said hello, was asked to link my gear, which I did. Was then booted with tells telling me I’d built my character wrong, this happened a few times with varying description parties throughout the weekend which led me to see what the general opinion was on here.
It seems the general consensus is that creating a squad entitles you to act like a moron, and the fact it’s “your” squad invokes ownership over how everyone else plays and behaves. If you want to try a raid but havn’t psychically understood that the ONLY way to play using LFG is to work out in advance which guide the raid leader is following and spend weeks acquiring the gear to adhere to their group. Or find a large enough guild that play for fun… It all sounds a bit Orwellian to me.
Lol you call raiders snobs but then you go and say anyone who uses a meta build isn’t an actual player?
You’re more toxic than any raider I’ve met
I’d say that raiders who demand that others already be equipped with meta builds before even joining the group, who’s response is an immediate kick without discussion for flexibility aren’t players a thousand times over without regret.
I’d say idiots were to be honest. If everyone knew how to pull their weight, elitism wouldn’t exist.
People wanting to be at the top level of performance, speed, etc has no bearing on weather or not “idiots” exist. What makes someone that doesn’t meet your personal preconceived level of play, or someone who simply has a different play style/system then you and idiot?
Your idea of “idiots” wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for elitism, you are labeling those you feel don’t play up to your standards as idiots. There will ALWAYS be differences in player ability. That doesn’t make others idiots.
I don’t know if this works in GW2 but in GW1 I found the simple solution to the problem was to make up a name for my build.
In that game the skills you chose were the main aspect of your build and groups would often ask you to share your skill bar in chat so they could decide whether they thought it looked good or not.
Honestly 9 times out of 10 the people making the call had no real idea what they were doing. If I told them I made the build up myself, I’ve used it in this dungeon/mission/whatever many times before and it works they’d kick me. If I told them I can’t remember what site I got it from but it’s called [whatever I felt like calling it at the time] (‘DOT + Profession name’ was a common form, or AoE + profession name) they’d accept it, no questions asked.
(Or if they were particularly observant I’d have to explain one detail, like I had a fiery bow string to go with Mark of Rodgort or yes, Dervishes do have AoE skills.)
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
no but it does give me a worse case assessment of whether I should recruit using the lfg tool or not, so thank-you for the useful data.
The handful of answers are actually quite useful when accounted with other information.
It’s not playing sitting in the lobby criticising other players builds without seeing how the player can handle themselves firsthand.
Welcome to Raids in MMOs…no one cares how good you are..meta or get out. It’s why I don’t play the raids.
Since when did MMO endgame content rely on players following the exact guide from sites like metabattle etc? It seems nobody want’s to do raids unless someone has handed them the exact guide on a plate.
It’s getting lame but I’m not changing a working build just to be “allowed” to participate in raids.
Please make the Phoenix Light Armor Skin into an outfit.
This outfit would go really well with my Ranger, but I can’t because it’s not medium armor.
And take away my ability to mix n match It?
How about no.
I think he meant also, not instead.
I’m not seeing the point of making gem store Armor Skins class exclusive. Why can’t they be made available to all classes? When you have outfits that can be used by any class, why is the same not true of skins? Perhaps someone can enlighten me.
Seems like they would sell a lot more skins if they eliminated the class restrictions.
I love the old Lion’s Arch. I would love it if they brought it back for good. Just have Primordius burn it down or something lol.
LOL. It could be the “Kenny” of Guild wars.

Tbh what I’d love to see come to Gw2 in halloween is some sort of Ghost ship in the harbor that we can swim out to and get sucked inside some kind of mini dungeon full of ghost pirates with a major sugar addiction..
they are luring curious adventurers into their liar and transforming them into candycorn elementals so they can eat them and satisfy their never ending need for sugar
You manage to escape in your candy form and must use your transformed abilities to escape the Pirate lair and rescue other kidnapped adventurers.. the more NPC’s you manage to save the more rewards you get at the end ^^
Considering a chunk of the base loathes the new LA, I really hope this concept art means something: https://i.imgur.com/3tAr7wl.jpg
Make Lions Arch Great Again2016!
This disney waterpark was not Cobiah Marriners’ dream!
This.
Lions Arch now just looks kind of a theme Park, not a city!
Not only do I weep for Cobiah’s dream, the city is now actually useless. I mean you can’t do TP business there, when you have to go back and forth between the bank and the TP a lot. And when people complained about that they added hopping boards instead of a waypoint. Now I spent 95% of my work in either Divinity or Rata Sum (I even got the scroll for easy crafting/Mystic Forge periods)
But seriously, if the fractal portal wasn’t in LA, I would never be seen in that city ever again.
Whilst I don’t object to LA as it is, I do have to say I prefer the original one.

Yes this New Lion’s Arch I will be the first to admit was quite frankly useless. I’d rather go back to the ships and challenges of the Old Lion’s arch. It was tastefully done and looked more like a place where pirate Captains would hang out. It was more seafaring. The designer of this new one – the place looks like you just scattered things and prayed it would look alright and I say okay you had your fun put it back please. Right now I don’t hardly even go to Lion’s arch I go to Divinity’s Reach which is still the best laid out city.
The more I am thinking about this, the more disappointed I am in the changes. Like I said, the atmosphere is completely different. I don’t want a child’s Halloween party, I want to go to the haunted house. I want carved pumpkins on bales of hay with the feel of autumn in the air. Carts full of candy corn don’t cut it.
Even if they would somehow transform the look and feel of the plaza for Halloween only – I’m not talking radical changes – just an illusion spell that shifts the color away from sea-blue to darker tones. Something that makes the pretty filigree decorations more earthy and fitting for the season. Cover it with spiders and cobwebs or make the edging wood instead of flowing, graceful metal. The way the plaza is right now just does not mesh with the old Halloween aesthetic and I missed it a lot last year. I don’t want to have to jump in the maze to clear my head of the sanitized LA Halloween and get my fix of the good stuff.
The Mad King prank is a very good idea. They could do it every Halloween.
