Actually I agree with him, if you simply compare GW2 to other MMOs nowadays, it’s unbeatable in its core design apart from a few flaws (either being huge or minor). The foundation is too much solid for it to fall apart in a near future, I only expect the best, I just hope they speed up things a bit.

I agree to, if you look at whats out there and whats coming out, its easy to see why this game is so much better than most. And it not having a subcription is really amazing for what you get. I’ve played so many different games and non of them held me more than 6 to 7 months. I’ve been been playing this since release and have liked every update. The only other game i play alot is Neverwinter which also keeps getting better. The foundry in that game is pure greatness. It would be fun if we could have something like that here. Imagine user created quest in this game.

Yay. A good posting for once.
I agree with OP. There are flaws like every MMO, but it’s very solid, and has kept me playing and wanting more… Faster! More content! nom nom nom

If you don’t want to play Zerkers then don’t play with zerker only parties. All indiscriminate accepting parties don’t check for zerkers.

Well, I got cut off there.

GW2 is an MMORPG that’s a living, changing world. Yes, that creates problems for the personal stories for new characters & players, who’ve never seen LA in all its glory. I think ANET is making efforts to build the framework of a great world, a stage for stories going forward. I hope they’re successful.

And the wallet…three cheers for the wallet! I remember the dark ages before ArenaNet gave us the account wallet, those were some primitive times indeed.

There is a lot of amazing things in GW2 that is either forgotten or taken for granted, but once you spend some time in other MMOs it’s always oh so good to be back.

Guild Wars 2 is a very good game. I heard about it only 4 months before the release and it immediately captured my ‘gaming desires’.
After playing One-Massive Multiplayer Role-Playing Game-Which-Title-Should-Not-Be-Said for almost 7 years and witnessing other random MMORPG’s (free-to-play included) which felt extremely poor to me, I’m extremely happy that I’ve found this game.
As my experience in Guild Wars and my knowledge of it’s lore is non-existent, I was reading wiki and watching videos explaining the lore non-stop (thanks, WoodenPotatoes!). I am the person who likes exploring and experiencing everything what a game has to offer (not every game, but most RPG’s, MMORPG’s, RTS’es), it was a blast to go on an adventure here. Those little details in Tyria are incredible. I was stuck in Ascalon for a big chunk of my gameplay doing world exploration and just wandering in caves, ruins, occasionally finding jumping puzzles, mobs with chests, diving places.
Then I was invited to join Victory Is Life Eternal. Events, dungeons, missions, just chatting with them is so fun! Guilds are required to enjoy this game to it’s full, I must admit it.
Of course, there are flaws in this game, but instead of ranting about every single thing, I’m instead getting used to what’s already in the game without any high expectations. and may post some feedback sometimes, but mostly discussing in the Lore and Class forums.
And of course, I am hoping that this game will achieve a lot in future.

Having permanently departed World of Warcraft recently and come back to GW2, I once again find that this really is a ruddy nice game. I’ll have to send Blizzard a thank-you note for finally managing to drive me off with some of their (I think) absurd plans for their next expansion – I forgot how much I loved just -playing- GW2.

Seriously guys, GuildWars2 is a masterpiece in the making, and close to being finished. I am sure many of you already see how great this game is, but sometimes when you read these forums all you see is unintelligent complaint. Whenever people get some emotional frustration of some kind thats related to GW2, they just go dump it here somewhere so its out of their mind. It’s normal, it’s what people do. But with so many people doing that at some point it gets hard to make out what is really going on here.

The work ArenaNet has shown here is nothing short of brilliant, and I feel the latest patch has proven how determined Anet is to make further improvements. Sure there have been a bunch of problems along the way, but you always deal with it and facing trouble is just a necessary phase of getting better. Heads up to you guys! Keep up the good work!

You will die. We all do, some more frequently then others. To extend your roll and enhance your effectiveness away from a zerg you must have mobility and situational awareness. In time you will know where the larger enemy forces are moving on the map. You will be able to anticipate their movements and bait them into committing on a section of the map where you want them to fight. Never get tunnel vision. Don’t drop siege and just stare at the wall / door. Always post scouts out at a fair distance from your siege along likely enemy avenues of approach. My sequence is verify supply on hand, move to position drop siege, specify who builds and priority of build, post scouts, food check if needed. When you are hitting something be ready to move and if the defenses are about to fall don’t forget to pull in your scouts.

That’s what makes roaming exciting to me though, lol. Zergs are like an environmental hazard, they can roll through at any time and if you’re not constantly aware of your surroundings you’re going to get rolled. Don’t roam on the roads, take shortcuts and back ally’s, don’t spend too long with anything you’re doing, the longer you stay in one place the more likely you’re going to get rolled. And lastly, always check your map for swords. You can scout for your server by calling out where enemies are (if you’ve seen them physically) or where you think they are (if you’ve seen swords on the map) and it gives you an idea of where you should probably avoid going unless you’re able to make a quick get away such as a Thief, Mesmer or a Warrior can accomplish.

I got so much karma, Yet i cant spend it towards the Obi shards, I don’t like doing a dungeon with random tryhards to get (FotM) my shards, No one is doing temples anymore, i have been keeping a eye on multiple sites that track the temple states…
Never EVER since 2weeks have i seen one open(not sure about b4 the 2 weeks)… The vendor should be replaced/relocated/ Always accessible… Its just impossible to get people to do it these days.. Got the Karma , just no other way then to waste it on Orr Boxes that drop 10 shards per 150-200K Karma… Please Anet, Make the vendor accessible at all times… The Temples are just dead!!

Don’t look at the temple sites because they are no longer valid.

Orr is almost always live and open now.

WvW for me is something that’s different every time I log in. Even though there is really only a couple of maps to fight over, the fight diversity that happens over those strategic points is varied enough to still have me interested in wvw.

Can’t get that from pve (or eotm)

Gw2 most grindy game ever..?

Try playing a game that has a 3-day waiting list for an 8-man only group to kill the mobs that give the best exp for those last 5 levels before endgame. Where “endgame” is a real concept (entire focus of the game., not the journey to get there).

A game, where dying causes your exp bar to go backwards, causing you to lose exp for every death.

Where the only exp you get is from killing mobs. Not crafting, not doing quests, no exp boosters.

Where gaining exp is not linear. Not the same ratio for every level.

No one makes games like that anymore for NA/EU distribution. Those games are too grindy.

-Walked uphill to school and back in snow both ways

Out of 9 MMOs in the past 15 years, GW2 is hands-down the least grindy game I and my guild have ever played.

BG: 52 alts, 29 lvl 80’s. They all look good, so I am done with the game: Oct 2014

The reason I didn’t want to play my own soundtrack in the background is because I actually want certain songs to play at certain times, like in the town, exploring, or fighting. The customized soundtracks links sound like exactly what I was looking to find! Thank you all!

Only mob drops. The recent addition was to the SPvP reward chests, which simulate the loot you would get from killing multiple mobs.

Reviewing EotM patch + Feature Pack, I must admit I’m having fun with the game again, I kindly thank ANet for their effort while I wait the next LS Season.

PS.: Please, do a badkitten Elder Dragon if it has to come (I could wait a bit more while the devs develop the world better, but since people want EDs so much…).

Actual grinders start you on the treadmill the moment you leave character creation. GW2’s grind begins well after you’ve capped and it’s only required if you’re chasing optional stuff. Although some might dispute that with ascended gear being BiS, but I don’t feel left behind staying outfitted in full exotics, which don’t require grinding to attain.
