1: We need to keep thread and post sizes more manageable. Should we put a limit on the word length of posts?
Post length is OK, however the community should learn how to make efficient contributions.
2: How are we going to chose topics moving forward, for example, by votes or by Anet choosing them etc?
Using the in-game poll system you had in the BETA. Let the player base decides and not the small forum active players. By using the in-game beta polls you would also encourage players to go to the forums if the selected topic is amongst their interests.

To be clear, the only “agenda” any of us at Arenanet have is to tell engaging and compelling stories using our medium of interactive narrative. Part of achieving that goal is to provide genuine and believable characters who have depth and interesting interpersonal dynamics, including the portrayal of complex and compelling relationships.
We have put much effort into making sure that Marjory, Kasmeer, Rox, Braham and now Taimi each bring a unique perspective to the overall Living World narrative, and we love exploring the various relationships of all of these characters, as well as those already established via the player’s personal story. You will see those relationships continue to grow and change, as you would expect of friends and comrades you encounter in real life.
Specifically with Marjory and Kasmeer, we’re trying to present two characters that have a burgeoning friendship and interest in one another, because that’s something that happens in life. We don’t generally talk much about it on forums or the like, because as has been pointed out before, we much prefer to tell their story in game wherever possible. But we would also like to think that our portrayal of their feelings towards each other is more than simply something you can define by “ticking a box”.
Regarding trimming stories of all but the “relevant details”: I would say that many of us on the dev team would actually agree with the idea that how two characters relate to one another, regardless of whether that interaction has direct bearing on the direction of the main plot-line, can and should be considered relevant. Such breadth of character traits may advance a side-plot, or no plot at all and can be used to simply establish a personality type or a behavior which informs a character’s actions as they progress through the narrative.
Of course there is a limit: Learning whether or not Braham likes ham, for example (say that five times fast) is probably better left on the cutting room floor, but exploring whether Braham likes Rox, or Taimi, or Logan (does anyone else want to see a guardian duel between these two?), well we believe that there’s real emotion there. And if it advances a plot, great…if not, it’s still part of the landscape of those characters, and that’s really important to us, and something that I would say we are more than eager and willing to explore.
Some pretty interesting ideas here. I was actually spit-balling some ideas on how to address this today. This has always been something that has bothered me, too.
For example:
- Have kits respect the existing back item flag. If you have a back item and you want to show it, hide the kit. If you don’t have a back item or choose to hide it, always show the kit. Obviously this makes it a little harder than usual to tell what kit you are using, so:
- A nameplate icon similar to Elemental Attunements would be a good addition (I may add this regardless if we can get the art
) - Move the kit somewhere else on your body. I know, crazy right? For example, who doesn’t like a sweet fanny-pack?
- A nameplate icon similar to Elemental Attunements would be a good addition (I may add this regardless if we can get the art
Hopefully this finally gets resolved soon, and I’ll do what I can to see that happen. Keep in mind, as Colin mentioned before, that there are some pretty beefy projects going on that are consuming our engineering time. But that doesn’t exactly mean we can’t sneak stuff in here and there

Hello again! This is Phineas Poe from Sanctum of Rall’s Megaserver’s Ethereal Guardians [EG].
This guide has now been updated to the feature patch. You’ll see a few different changes below.

Earlier today I received a whisper from someone who said they were interested in joining my guild and had found my advert posted in the Guild Recruitment section. He wanted to join and do wvw, however, he said, he was on Tc with 3 level 80s and didn’t want to delete them. Long story short, he asked if my guild would be willing to help him transfer from Tc to my server by donating 43 gold. I politely declined for obvious reasons, but still offered that he submit an application and save up to transfer over if he really disliked Tarnished Coast. Temporarily placing him on flist, I noticed his AP was just barely over 200.
This is just a friendly message to my fellow players and Guild Leaders/Officers to please watch yourselves.
Well, imaging you have a wound and you are using blood. You need to use bandage (#4) to prevent bleeding. If you start bandage yourself but then changed your mind and start swinging your sword (other skills) – you are still loosing blood. Hope this helps.
When I’m downed my instinct is to press all of the buttons as fast as I can
It might be a good idea to read the description of your skills so you know what they each do. GW2 isn’t the kind of game where mashing buttons really works.
Yea they won’t be “merging” the looks like OP stated.
But maybe making appearances more accessible to carry-over, or possibly the ability to put PvP runes on your PvE armor.
But still, in PvP I change weapons a lot. I use a lot of weapons in PvP that I don’t even HAVE a PvE version of, so they’ll always be separate from what I can imagine.
I don’t understand why you’re answering OP’s question with your imagination.
“In the months that follow, we will be working to eliminate the difference between PvP and PvE gear. Players will be able to earn gear in PvP that can be carried over to PvE and vice versa. This means that players who have carefully crafted their appearance in one area of the game will have a way to carry that look over to other areas of the game.
Even though we will be eliminating the distinction between PvP and PvE gear, gear in PvP will continue to not have stats. The armor and weapons you carry into PvP will be, like they are now, just for looks. Traits, skills, runes and sigils will still be different for PvP so you will continue to be able to have different builds in PvP and PvE."

Wow. And I thought the Thaumanova Reactor fractal was a slap in the face. We waited months for that fractal; some of use even based our vote on that fractal. One of the developers teased something to the effect of “I wonder what happens when Chaos Magic mixes with the Mists.” The possibilities stemming from that were endless. And instead we got Scarlet. Again. But this…this takes the cake. I’m not even into WvW and I find this insulting. I say again…wow.
I’m insulted that you find new content insulting
Exactly like I thought. Patch 1 2 and 3 will, despite being called “big patches”, still be regular LS patches maybe even smaller considering that they don’t add any features.
What a shame :/
An entirely new map which is, from what ive seen, one of the best (if not the best) looking maps ever created in an MMO. Seeing how creating maps swallows up a big
of an MMO devs budget this doesnt seem to be a minor thing at all.
Sure wvw might not be your cup of tea. But its still a big feature that gets added to a gamemode thats really popular.

How is adding a whole new map small?
A whole new map full with new features no less. And what about the first patch that added two world bosses, both with completely new mechanics?
Unless anet comes up with a dozen maps and a few classes in EVERY patch, some people will never be content.
You’ve been releasing some of the best and most enjoyable raid content in any MMO I’ve seen. Truly challenging content that requires lots of preparation and learning, while at the same time requiring a MASSIVE amount of people all to be coordinated perfectly. I was in the group that got server first on SOR downing Teq, and it was one of the most memorable moments in my entire gaming history. Downing the Marionette for the first time was just as exciting, and I know downing the Wurms will be amazing too. I’m loving it, as are many many other players.
That being said….allow groups and guilds to form their own private overflows where random people can’t get in and ruin entire guilds from doing content together. Add in that feature and your open raid content will be absolutely PERFECT!
I LOVE these! Thanks for sharing. :-)
Hi Guys
If you are a fan of Guild Wars series, I suggest you to check the assembly of past/present areas of Guild Wars 1 and Guild Wars 2 that I made.
Feel free you add screenshots !
EDIT: sorry of mistakes, I do my best
There are no inactive accounts. Players buy the game and have an active account till the servers close down.
Simple as that.
The Leveling & Open World Compendium
Wurm
I loved every second of it. I camped on the Deso map for three days.
We tried over and over again, taught all new people. Did dry runs, helped with builds. And as we could not leave the main map, because we never get it again, we started to spawn crafting stations, merchants and everything else. It really felt like we were there for a purpose. Like a real siege because there is a danger to Tyria. This is not because of the writing but because what players made out of it.
Some people spend enourmous sums on buff food, put down heroes banners from their guilds for every try. And we never gave up. We keept working together. We had fun. Tons of laughs on teamspeak while waiting and organizing. Yes, stressful, but in a good way.
There were a lot of guests there. Even they were on Teamspeak. They tried to integrate and not leech some loot or achievs. I made some new friends. It was a great gaming experience.
Yes, this is total hardcore content.
But such stuff has to be in the game. There is not much of it that you can call endgame content. I absolute love this big open world encounters. I hope that Anet will bring more of it. Maybe once or twice a year would be great.
You cannot imaging the relief when after three days of nearly no sleep and a few power naps we finally killed the wurm.
Yes, the loot is crap, but after three days of hardcore gaming the feeling of accomplishment was awesome. It was worth every second. I am gaming since the days Pong came out, but beating the worm was the most satisfying thing I had for ages in a game.
The wurm still has issues in mechanics and bugs. The timers of 60 and 120 seconds are cheap mechanics. But these are mechanics everyone can understand. What to do on each wurm is quite simple.
Regardless how good you become in phase 1, phase 2 will always be a close call. Anet doesn’t want the wurm to be farmed like Tequatl, which is done every day on different servers by different people with no effort.
Will I do the wurm again? Oh yes, teaching new people and do it over and over again until enough people know it by heart so it can be facerolled.
Anet, regardless what you throw at us players, we will beat it.
Instances
Sure people scream for instances so they can do it with their large guilds at their leisure. But that would just be bad for GW2 as people not in such guilds will never properly learn how to play such encounters. Instanced Raids would be toxic for GW2. GW2 is an Open World MMO and should stay this way. You want raid instanced? Then pls move, GW2 will not provide this to you.
I hate instances will all of my heart. But a good addition would be 10 or 20 player dungeons – even though I would never play them, I think it would be a good addition to the game.
TL;DR
Love you Anet. After all the bad releases starting with Halloween I actually enjoy playing GW2 again. Love large scale open world events. This is what makes GW2 unique.
It has come to me that there is so many possibilities of what or whom may be behind the scarlet plot.
I am taking back all the dragon theories because of the promotional video that Anet sent, the big darkish voice that we are hearing has been confirmed that was not dragon related. And the voice seem to be in favor of scarlet’s plan, wich we don’t know exactly what it is. But, mainly, the character want scarlet to succeed. Some people point out that scarlet has been only attacking human settlements (LA, Divinity’s reach and such.). To me, that rings a bell, it might be a anti-human entity that wants those gone from Tyria.
If we recall Gw1 franchise, we had Abbaddon, Dhuum, Menzies, that were all connected one to an other for a god war in-between humans god and elder god (yes i’m not using older on purpose). We can eliminate Abbaddon as, Kormir took his place with power and such in Gw1: Nightfall. I’ll concentrate on Menzies and here’s why. In the lore Menzies is the half-brother of Balthazar, whom wanted to take all the Fissure of Woe realm for himself (pre-dating Exodus and such). Why am I focusing on Menzies instead of other? Because Menzies is the Lord Of Destruction. ( here’s the quoting from wiki ) “Menzies the Mad, also known as the Lord of Destruction, is the evil half-brother of Balthazar. Though never seen, he commands the Shadow Army and other shadow related creatures such as the Darkness.” Notice connection between the darkness and chaos from Menzies and the “darkness” scarlet has encountered when she was in the Eternal Alchemy. That is highly linked to the “madness” Scarlet has gone into. Scarlet was destroying everything and still want to destroy everything. Take for Example the Thaumanova Reactor, it blew up. The tower of nightmare was also destroyed.
Second of all, when scarlet was in the Eternal Alchemy, she saw red thorns growing up the Pale Tree. Those thorn were red, scarlet red to be more precise. If you recall going into the Fissure Of Woe, you can’t deny the fact the everything is point out to the color red, even the Eternal forge was red/obsidian colored. That said, Menzies is part of the mist, witch in turn is part of the Eternal Alchemy.
The Eternal Alchemy is, by definition, containing all the entities. Now, here comes the wierd part! The Eternal Alchemy, I believe is part The Rift. Why? :
“In the middle of The Mists is a spot where time moves neither forward nor back. It is a tear in the fabric of the cosmos, the point of perfect balance between all forces of the universe. This place is known as the Rift, and there is nothing to which it does not connect, nothing that cannot be reached from inside it. Those who have the know-how to travel across the universe through the Mists must pass through the Rift on their way to all other places. It is the center of all things.”
That is why I think Menzie is more likely to be the one behind it all. While not every thing is pointed to Dhuum, he still could be the one who might have corrupted Scarlet. He’s also a god of death and darkness. They are powerful, old entities that can travel through realms. They are even able to send minions in-between realm, remember the Tombs of The Primeval Kings, Menzies sent The Darknesses over in the Hall of Heroes. The only thing that can pin-point to Dhuum is the fact the marionnette is closed to a place called reaper’s gate wich is a temple to Grenth. “It holds a statue within that once allowed access to the Underworld and is now overrun with creatures from the Mists.”. It can’t be a coincidence!
Share you’re thoughs on that theorie!

Not only the fight is great, but dat music just after entering the portal.
Superb design. Keep it at this level and i’m all yours. I really hope next 3 LSs are just as great. And what is coming after them…
Well it’s just another con from Anet then, whats wrong with paying for a rarer dye and actually getting what u paid for 100% of the time. Instead of getting random yet again
Wouldn’t a con suggest that they would basically lie?
They clearly don’t in this case, seeing as they blatantly state that only 6 of the 25 are actually new.
You pay for a chance.
You get a chance.
If you want a specific dye, buy it at the TP.

… a dragon boss fight test.
It seems most people thought the Zhaitan dungeon was outstanding until the boss “fight”. Actually almost all of the original dungeons and world events had dull fights. And Anet has learned massively about how to do this right.
I think each of these LS bosses (think how cool some have been, and some are even immortalized in the new Fractals) are Anet tested on us how to kill the next dragon.
I believe the next dragon death will be a massive world event, a better version of the Marionette fight. Maybe even at the end of a world dungeon, a better version of the Nightmare Tower. Think Karka event except with interesting mechanics.
Over the last couple of days I’ve seen a lot of people dying to or not killing the Regulator Wardens in time. Hopefully these short videos raise the percentage of successful Warden/ Marionette kills.

I can’t even believe you had the audacity to create this thread.
So as my eyes start to wander towards upcoming MMOs and what they have to offer I’ve asked myself what would make GW2 the perfect MMO to keep me luvin long time. Not that I don’t think it’s an already wonderful MMO, but we all have our wish list that we feel would make it better. I’m curious, what would be your top wish list items to make the game better?
For me (in order)…
1) Player (and Guild) Housing, I’m talking SWG quality housing… why can’t MMOs capture this feature? The HOURS of added gameplay for the OCD player (like me) and GEM STORE potential here for Anet is literally limitless…
2) End game guild level content, aka 10/20/40 man raids… though how well this would work out in a game that doesn’t have a holy trinity… hmmm
3) Yes we have WPs, but movement speed enhancements for PvE… especially for repeated world exploration for my alts, but also as eye candy. This could include, but not limited to: Mounts (duh) or a limited sprint on button push
4) Double jump…. why do so few games offer this.
I definitely respect that this would make the game more fun for you. It would kill it for me thought not each point equally. I enjoy PvE in moderation not as a main activity. That is the devil with this game. It has so many quality modes and that pulls different clusters of gamers in so many directions. Really, these days what is the primary mode (the anchor mode) for GW2? Historically, you would say sPvP. Would you today?
1) I like this but I would want guild houses and personal houses to be actually useful. DAOC did a great job balancing appearance with functionality.
2) This is what would kill it for me. Raids just are great when you have tons of guildies and are really serious. But for a casual, a raid tends to be too much time, wrong time, too hard to put together. And then there is the issue that raid quality PvE should have epic loot. I personally, think the more casual Tower of Madness was perfect. Raids would send me running for an exit faster than almost anything they could do. Pick up open raids are fine so long as they don’t last for hours and the mechanics are not so challenging that a PUG can’t do them.
Hard PvE is for another game IMHO.
3) Mounts are fine so long as they never see the light of day in PvP and WvW. It would be too fast to respond and would make the maps feel small. Small groups do well when you have to hunt them down and go off the focus zerg objective to do so.
4) That would annoy me. This game is already twitchy enough with dodging.
As you can tell, I bought the game for pvp and wvw. I prefer non-MMO PvE frankly.
