Congratulations! I have to admit, I am a bit (who am I kidding, a lot) jelly.
Then go do it.
It’s not the first time that I see people getting angry because of publisher’s efforts of bringing people back and keeping the playerbase active, handouts are usually an effective way to bring back those who have been away for a bit long and have been thinking about returning.
What would constitute a “fair” hand out? What would be considered “too much”? Someone has to draw that line and we all might not agree with it, but if you believe that all the entertainment (and gold) you’d get from playing the game for months is less rewarding than 400 gems for not playing the same amount of time, -again- go ahead and do it.
I suppose you can fork out what would buy you a good new PC for a Legendary but who the heck would want to do that?
You’d be surprised actually, this happens already in lots of MMOs.
If someone wants to spend 400 pounds or more on pixels, I’m quite happy for them to ‘be the best’.
How are non gem buyers supposed to compete with players who buy gems? I feel gw2 is becoming another mmo where you have to pay to real life money to be the best or grind until you are dead.
You need none of those shinies to “compete” as you put it. You can make your character look awesome without the extra fluff, so even the “looks competition” is fair.
The grind is minimal, because the grindiest items are not necessary to enjoy the game. No one needs legendaries, or even Ascended gear in order to play this game-even low level Fractals are doable, so you wouldn’t be missing much by not having these grindy items you are complaining about.
Finally, I doubt most people buy gems with $$$ for their in-game stuff, plus it’s fair for them to do with the money whatever they want, for better or worse. It’s not THAT hard to make gold as of now, and I say so as a player who have not even ever hit one hundred pieces.
The best way to enjoy GW2 is to play the game, rather than grind for items, though some players find the grind fun, which is also valid for them.
No offense intended, though.
What do you mean by the best?
Ascended materials are mostly untradable. I suppose you can fork out what would buy you a good new PC for a Legendary but who the heck would want to do that?
That aside, exotics are perfectly competitive for basically everything in the game. GW2 has to be one of the most casual-friendly games out there.
I love the comment by the NPC when the Queensdale champion oak heart appears. He says they are going to need a bigger bow.
Reminds me of the line in Jaws when Brodie first sees the shark: ’You’re going to need a bigger boat.’
The chickens in ebonhawk, I love zelda.
Gosh; this thread is full of awesomeness!
Also, that’s one pretty mermaid!
That being said; who said that all mermaids are evil? Maybe she isn’t?
It was a long, harrowing night. But I stood my post and made warning lights as only an Elementalist can.
And yet for some reason I’m not sure it really made things any safer…

And I would also like to point out the similar rocks and jagged rocks like this at the bottom of the Diverse Ledges waypoint. It’s a severe safety hazard to all the divers!
Something must be done here!
I assure you, something has indeed been done about the Diverse Ledges diving point.
Asura have placed several small devices in the area, to record events as people come off of that dive. Should any horrific deaths and mutilations occur, the recordings will be put together with humorous and inappropriate music for our collective viewing pleasure.
delicate, brick-like subtlety.
There is a spot in the middle of the Lion’s Arch harbor where a rock lies submerged just below the surface. This is a hazard to navigation, and there is no warning buoy. I am doing my job as a concerned citizen, standing out there waving off ships until the city engineers can either remove the rock or put up a warning.
In the meanwhile, it is getting dark. Could someone please bring out a light, and perhaps a sandwich as well?

My advice to get over your addiction is to keep playing. The game isn’t that immersive. After a while one of the many little imperfections in the game will make you lost interests.
Particularly, if you hit level 80, played most of the contains , and now run out of end-games activities to keep you interested. But until then have fun.
It feels like you are addicted?
I suggest you contact support (or maybe a mental health professional) if you ever get the urge to snort the game off the computer screen or mainline the game thru the power cord.
Hi and welcome to the forum. This is I’m afraid the wrong place. Your request can be best made in the looking for guild thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/guilds/lfguild
Also it would be informative if you tell what server you are on.

It looks like Donari and Khisanth have answered the question, so I just wanted to add this thread’s title to “things you can click on the GW2 forums that you should absolutely not click on Craig’s List.”
Ahahaha… you win all my internets today.

Because we can’t be angry about both?

I do like the Ebonhawk karma skins. Would be awesome to see armor skins that go along with the hawk.
ANet had a dream before launch and in its dream it saw an army of players, the men all wearing trenchcoats and the women all with buttcapes. ANet saw this and sayeth, “Behold! All the naughty parts are decently obscured and this is good.” Then ANet sayeth to its designers, “Go out and design trenchcoats and buttcapes and I shall give unto you a bonus for each one you designeth that looks like all the other trenchcoats and buttcapes so that all the players who cometh to the game shall look the same and none shall be different”.
Then labored the designers long and hard over many months Many trenchcoats and buttcapes were made yet all looked alike unto each other so that none stood out as different. All were slightly different so they could be claimed as many, yet none could truly be told from the other. And ANet saw the multitudes of players thus adorned in their trenchcoats and buttcapes and smiled.

Squads can have up to 30 players. It’s a good idea, however 30 circles on the map is a bit much. They’re gonna have to find an alternate solution or limit the # of visible squad members.
why?
wouldn’t it be okay just to have the option to turn them on/off?
i like more options
Yeah. I’d be down for that.
Dear Arenanet,
I recently used 100 gold to purchase the commander ability for myself for my guild so that we can enjoy the squad ability. I was disappointed to see that I do not have the option to see all of my squad members as teal circles (as you do in the party option). Please enable this option for the commander as it only seems fair given its cost in-game. Thank you.
No temporary cosmetics please, thank you very much.
If I purchase something (or have the opportunity to purchase something with real money), I’d like to be able to use it as long as I please.
I’d rather have a wardrobe in the gemstore where I can store all my cosmetic possessions…or an NPC who will register and then resell me my holiday-related cosmetics as often as I want for a few silver.
We noticed in our guild that there is allways a problem with guild investments like siege weapons.
Having guild taxes would solve this problem.
By setting the taxes between 0 and 5 percent (individually adjustable by every guild depending on what they are up to) of every sold item at a merchant or maybe taking taxes from event rewards.
It would be only a few copper per transaction but in large-scale it would be a nice guild revenue.Lets say your guild has 30 active members.
Each member does 15 events per day.
You gain 1,87s per event.(1,87s x 15 × 30) = 8,41,50g (x 0,05) = 42,07s
Thank you
Um… what the hell?
So you’re suggesting that by participating in a guild, the guild should have the option of taking my rewards?
I can see what you’re trying to achieve with this thing, but the only thing that a tax would achieve is players quitting your guild. After all, if your members don’t mind the tax, they would already be donating their spares to the guild.
And what if I join a new guild? Will I be properly informed of the taxes they would take before they take any? And do I, as a new member, have the option of not paying those taxes until I feel comfortable with the guild?
And what would you do about people who would evade the tax? For example, you can’t tax me if I’m not representing, not to mention that I could just sit around and gather stuff, not gaining any actual gold in the first place.
Honestly, it’s not that hard to get those donations for guild stuff.

Do we get an EZ tax form too?
