Whoa, wait… Guild Taxes… does that come with our characters filing income tax at the end of the year? (o.O)
there is already too much gold in the economy, and id rather not be forced to pay extra even for my guild, if i want to donate, i shall

I’d say leave gold out. Have guilds receive karma based on players representing them doing wonderful things and noble acts for the land of Tyria. Rather than taxing, though, it would just be a bonus. Clearly the player has their own karma. There could also be a bonus for multiple guild members working together, such as an additional 1% from each member present!
Also, I’d never tax economic transactions your members make.
No!
If you want to trade with people you cant trust you should use the TP. The TP is designed for secure and safe transactions. Transactions through email are only used amongst friends (based on mutual trust) or by scammers. The answer is to use the TP.The answer is NOT the TP. The Black Lion Trade Post, while awesome for what it does, COMPLETELY LACKS the feature im asking for.
I’m asking for a secure way to trade directly with other players.
Explain to me why exactly you need to trade directly with other players you are not familiar enough to trust them not to cheat you?
Personal trade systems of any kind are the single most exploited aspect of every MMO.
These systems are how people dupe to make more of the same item. I am glad they had the foresight not to put any in the game.
I dont wish to sound like a jerk here, but as a programmer, I think that if a piece of code can be exploited, its the fault of the programmer not the user.

You’re doing Grenth’s work, Bear.
By the power invested in me, I pronounce you Guild Wars 2 and Teamspeak3, you may kiss the client.
Amazing topic. Loving the pics. Ill try to put in some effort and get some good ones of my own
Sweet FX has come a long way to where you do not need to tweak any code/make changes in text files to get results and I believe it now has a GUI, though I still see many having issues with it running right/at all or finding it difficult to get the results they desire.
Most guys i talked to use specific presets (Dark V2 in most cases) and finetune a bit from there. I agree that it could be a bit more userfriendly. But once you have the settings right it doesnt require any extra thought anyways.
I do think that a tool like this (or what youre using) greatly enhances the looks of this game. So its almost a must imo.

Also wanted to include some more screenshots.
Can view them here: http://stinvec.imgur.com if you would like.
I use FXAA PPI for enhanced anti-aliasing, color richness, bloom effect, sharpness, etc.
I also have side-by-side comparisons with ‘vanilla’ GW2 settings there.

Hidden Gardens is one of my favorite parts of the game. I have numerous screenshots of that one.
I still run around in, what I call, Vanilla GW2, either leveling alts or on my main just for the beauty of the game.

I just want to say how very, very impressed I am by the level of interaction I see here between ArenaNet and its playerbase. The “collaborative development” threads, the “red posts” I’ve seen in each of the profession forums since the announcement of next month’s balance update…it all gives the sense that the devs do indeed care about how we react to their decisions.
Is the interaction always positive? Of course not, but it makes a world of difference to feel that we’re being interacted with rather than being herded about like a flock of skittish moa birds.
I’m so proud of how Anet works with its community that I’ve pointed out these forums to another gaming community I’ve been in for years, hoping that it will serve as a positive example to them. Regardless of what direction the game itself takes, this is the right direction for us forum addicts.

This vid has been around since beta… It’s hilarious!!!
We begged for an /airplane emote then as well.
I wish they would…. I would love to see everyone running around in LA playing follow the leader with airplane wings…
It’s just too bad much of the beauty goes to waste as most players just stick to dungeons or very specific zones. I try to soak it all in as much as I can and sometimes just wander the maps for the heck of it.
So my wife has never played a MMO before. In fact, other than some card games and Bejeweled, she has never played any video games. But she knows our daughter plays this game a lot (as do I) so she wanted to try GW2. So while I was standing behind her watching her learn to play GW2, trying to run around and whack bad guys and such, I caught myself remarking to myself “what a beautiful game”. And it really is. So there is no real point to this post other than to relate that event and let ANet know you done good (and maybe take a little of the edge off of the negativity on these forums).
Hi.
Games are often very different. There are many differences between skyrim and GW2.
The first and most obvious is off course the MMO-element. You are playing with other people and/or against other people. This is very different then Skyrim. In here there are thousands of heroes running around. Not all can be the Dovakhin, so the game treats you as a lesser Hero.
The second reason is that This game is much less focused on RP-ing. The most elements are there but its a lot less embedded, its more a game then a world.
Maybe you can explain what you like about Skyrim. What kinds off activity’s did draw your attention there?
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
I felt that way for awhile. While I’m not sure your progression in the game so far, or your style, I’ll tell you what I did personally.
I started as an Ele, and being new to the GW universe, I had no idea what I was doing. Couldn’t get help for the life of me. Tried to learn on my own, and failed. Rage quit. Two weeks later, I come back, and make a Necro. And, despite not having learned I thing, I kept at it. I was determined that, even if it meant I’d despise Necromancer at the end of the day, i’d hit level cap and understand the game. I turned out to love Necromancer. TL;DR – Force yourself to do something, and you might realize you like it. Idea: Try Fractals of the Mist, even if you’re not big into dungeons. Try WvW if you’re not into PvP. And so on. Break your own mold.
What I do with friends who have a similar problem now, is first help them find a profession they like. What I did with my fiance, and what I am doing with a friend tomorrow actually, is going into sPvP on various professions, and having them just mess around with weapons on the NPCs. We didn’t talk traits. We didn’t talk sigils, stats, runes. Nothing but learning each weapon and the class mechanic to see what they preferred. At some point they feel they like a profession, and I tell them to remember it, but I make them try at least 5 of them anyways. My fiance loved Warrior at the start, but liked that ranged ability of a Ranger and was interested in Necro after watching me, but she settled on Guardian. And Gaurdian was the first one she tried and hated initially.
Try that, and don’t be scared to contact me in-game if you want.

Sararfull,
My sister and I got help from another player and their friend this afternoon and got 100% of Cursed Shores. We ended up guesting to Tarnished Coast for the Graven Cay skill point. Just got my last POI – Chantry of Secrets- and now have 100% of map. My sister will probably not be online this evening at midnight (our time) but if I am I’ll look out for you. I am also interested in trying fractals and/or dungeons for the first time.
There is a stickied thread at the top of this forum section that addresses this issue:
I also suggest the OMG tips thread….been playing since Beta and there was stuff in there I had no idea existed:

I see this question asked a lot. I forget sometimes people are on their first MMO, and that Guild Wars 2 isn’t as ‘traditional’ as the MMOs of the old world.
Anyway, my first suggestion is to gear out in exotics, then re-skin to how you want it. If you don’t know what you’re doing, at least you’ll look good (not) doing it!
After that, there’s a ton for you to do at 80. I put together a list here of everything I could think of:

The game does not let you sell for less than the vendor price when at the Trading Post, so the fact people can place buy orders for it is just dumb. Either stop people from placing buy orders that low (and remove the current ones that low), or allow us to make the mistake of doing that.
Elzareth – Asura Mesmer
It would be great if you could make it so people cannot make orders for under the vendor price on the trade post since you can’t sell it for that price. Also please remove all bids currently on the trade post that are under vendor price since it cannot be sold to them at that price.

+1 for this. really cool statement.
They’re deliberate gold sinks that are supposed to be for show/bragging rights. They’re not supposed to be for everyone to run around in. They’re not much different than dungeon sets in that regard expect instead of tokens, it costs gold.
It would be very cool to see a dye apply a pattern, IE blue tye dye, black camo, white stripes, pillow checks, green spots, etc etc.
Not sure how the effect would get done, but the end product would add tremendous change to the world.
Use this tool!

Thank you for the great link, Tiborb!
These local TZ abbreviations are so excessive and unnecessary that my head hurts. I guess GMT wasn’t good enough for political/whatever reasons so everyone and their mom came up with their own names.
Some of the funnier ones:
- BRST. Brasil is hot!
- AZOT. Azores are zooooming! (azot is another name for nitro[gen])
- BOT. OK so that’s where all krait-farming WvW bots originated from
- ET. Tiempo Del Este do not even think they are on Earth
- HADT HAST. Havaii-Aleutian hast and had it all.
- HAT HAY. Nice people of Heure Avancee du Yukon tip the hat and say hi!
- IRKT YAKST YEKST KRAST OMSST PETST VLAST. What’s wrong with Russia?.. (I’m Russian so chill, that’s just a joke
. Btw “vlast” is transliterated “dominion”) - WAST. Africa is, indeed.
Is it so hard to give us a time in GMT or CET?
For casual purposes, UTC IS GMT+0
