I don’t understand why people want to “work” in a video game. Games are made for fun and relaxation.
Because throwing money at the gem store or gold at the TP creates no lasting memories. I don’t understand where went the attitude of playing games as a hobby and not as just some time-wasting activity. Hobbies generate memories, they create nostalgia, they invoke sentimental value. That’s what people want more of.
To protect his profit margin. Mind you he was in the first group of refugees to flee. Kiel fought on the breachmaker. Hobo-Tron has done more for the people of LA than Evon Gnashblade.
You say flee I say selflessly aiding in the evacuation, scouting the area ahead to ensure no danger would befall the civilians!
“Excuse me sir, do you have a moment to talk about our great saviour and Hero of Tyria, Evon Gnashblade?”
Maybe you can just skip this one, and wait until the next…or the next. =)
gasp But that would make it… Optional.
I found very minimal jumping in the Story part of the release. Especially aspect jumping. Maybe used it 3 times? And the Achievements are optional. So….
Still, there may be less aspect-type jumping in the later maps, as we move farther away from the wreckage. Maybe you can just skip this one, and wait until the next…or the next. =)
I finally needed a good substitute for my PTV gear. Thanks, ANet, now I can get carried even more efficiently!
Normally my LFGs say “All welcome” but now they’re gonna say “No TVH”.
“I’m not TVH, I’m PTV.”
Welcome to hell.
Sometimes I don’t understand people. Many of them just rushed through whole story, did everything else following guides, farmed a little bit of materials and say they’re done.
I mean, why not ignore all guides and figure out things by yourselves? Why not talk to NPCs, enjoy the view?
This content, unlike previous, won’t go away. Sit down, take your time, don’t rush and have a good time. We’ll have more in 2 weeks.
The thing is, you don’t even need to be a super grinder to play through the content fast. After the storyline, there’s not much to do if you don’t prefer achievement hunting, and even those are relatively easy to get. I’ve already done most just by casual playing and the update was released yesterday.
If you purposedly have to to slow yourself down to artificially lengthen your experience, isn’t that a sign that there’s just not enough of content?
I’m missing the “awesome-but-why-yet-another-Sylvari-villan-that-ruined-the-whole-thing” option.
I want that as an one handed sword, please!
I must dual wield two black katana.
Need it so badly, throwing money at the monitor but nothing happend so far.
I want to know why Kasmeer can teleport forward (not just where she’s been) and blink over a crevice AND take another person with her! My mesmer feels so inadequate besides her as I can’t even blink over a crack in the floor.
Killing people with grenades on a flying airship while trying to be stealthy would be rather stupid.
When we fight him on the other hand he has no need for stealth.

If it’s 200 gems I won’t mind paying for it. Any more than that and they can bite me.

Yeah, and they are stupid expensive too. I’ve sifted through about 120 fine sand so far and I got exactly 1 geode. We need what? 50 for the cheapest recipe?
Anet doesn’t make grindy games.
You get a bunch of geodes for finish the instances. You also get more completing the additional achievements. Future releases will probably give more as well. That aside they do get cheaper as the tier goes up.
Will we be getting ‘Whatsherfaces’ sisters sword to match it?
~Desolation~
Same. I’ll go full TVH if I can live that kitten’s life.
New crafting materials also enter the scene. Players can now harvest cacti for cooking or refine Ambrite into sheets, that can be used in crafting gear with bonuses to Toughness, Healing, and Vitality.
Soldier’s gear and Cleric’s gear has too much DPS thanks to having Power forced onto the players by tyrannical ANet. Now we can truly play how we want and update to the new meta with Toughness, Vitality, and Healing Power armor. Never again will we have to do damage to anything!
Probably because she was the one you wanted to live. Makes her death more meaningful.
<sorry, this needs to be moved to livingworld/s2 forum, can an Anet employee please help me with that?>
The OP is right. It feels forced, and this soap opera isn’t interesting, at all. Can’t they think of something else, instead of a lesbian love relationship, that interjects itself in every episode along the main story?
Seriously, do I really need to listen to Marjory and Kasmeer bang on and on about their relationship while doing my supposedly epic quest? I thought you guys said you learned from Season 1, but the level of uninteresting NPC dialogue is just through the roof and I haven’t even played 20 minutes.
Do I really have to spend every story quest with these people from now on?
Let me get this straight. You take one of the most flawed elements of the game (jumping), combine it with an as equally flawed game mechanic (aspects) and make it a core part of traversing the open world map?
I mean didn’t you get enough complaints about those things already? When people complained about the missing jumping ability in GW1 they actually only wanted a way to easily get pass small obstacles. No one asked for a jumping simulator (you wish).
What could possibly take down a giant ship……………………….A large block of ice …
ask Captain Edward J. Smith.
Can we please have it Anet? it looks like a katana, and looks awesome. Pretty please!!
As to the Elite Achievements section, this quote is troubling: " He gave examples like keeping all NPCs alive throughout the encounter or never falling to the boss." Never letting NPCs die? When has that ever worked in an MMO to the point that it was a fun thing to do? I am not talking about it mechanically working. I am talking about players being super stoked to do an escort mission and really enjoying it. Keeping NPCs alive has always been a chore in MMOs. Can we please do away with this notion that players find it enjoyable?
“Elite” achievement. Get good. Besides, most GW2 NPCs are pretty boss, so it shouldn’t be that hard. I remember when Teq was first updated, we used to kite the champs attacking the turrets to Rox and watch her kick kitten . She’d go all Mama Bear mode on them.
I did say, “When has it ever been fun?” and “I am not talking about it mechanically working…”. The point was, when has that ever been something players look forward to? Do you ever hear a player say, “Boy oh boy, that escort mission was a real hootenanny!”
I like escort missions. I’m sure some other people do as well. I’m also sure some people hate them. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad design.
The player’s failure gets predicated on something they can’t control. Namely, the fact that the escortee has the self-preservation instincts of a cruller at a police precinct, and so there’s the endless rounds of ‘I did everything right, but I still failed.’"
I personally hate escort missions with a burning passion. I’m perfectly fine with challenging content, but the chances of success should depend entirely on me (or other players), not some NPC whose intellect can be put to shame by a glass of water.
