Speak for yourself, please. I happen to love jumping puzzles and am always thrilled when a new one is included in the game. I think that miniatures are stupid and a complete waste of money, but you won’t see me petitioning ANet to stop making them for the people that like them.

Outstanding, really nice to hear this from an official source.

It’s also very good to know the team takes this kind of thing seriously enough to actually patch it. You get faith points!

I’d like to address the continuity issue in the Newly Awakened story instance of episode 7. In it, players have a conversation with Malomedies where he says, “We went so long without losing one of our own, but three of our newly awakened have been killed already. This is unacceptable.” He then goes on to say about Riannoc, “I worry about Riannoc. He’s going so far from home. What if he never returns?”

As some have helpfully pointed out, this is at odds with Caithe’s dialog in the Personal Story, where she mentions, “Riannoc was the first sylvari to meet death. We never knew what happened…” This is an error (a.k.a. text bug) that was introduced during the development of episode 7 and was not caught by anyone on the team or in our playtest groups. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. We’re going to fix the conversation text in episode 7 in an upcoming patch so that it is in line with the Personal Story.

On a related note, I should clarify this bit of dialog from the Personal Story, where Caithe says, “…We all felt it when he [Riannoc] died. It was like a part of the Dream was torn away—but we never knew why. Or how.” The sylvari did not feel Riannoc’s death as it happened, but reacted emotionally once they found out about it (such as when a loved one is lost). Caithe is speaking figuratively, not literally, here.

As always, thanks for playing and for sharing your feedback.

The Fix:
Edit C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\etc\hosts using notepad (run as administrator)
Add this line at the bottom: 174.35.56.164 assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com

and remove that address and then open command prompt and do ipconfig /flushdns
then close it then disable your windows firewall and if you have a antivirus firewall running to try disabling it then once if it works then you can turn them back on after its done downloading and patching

Already tried this, does not work for me.

If your installation is stuck at 0% or you are receiving a download failed message, we have found this to usually be attributed to your firewall or security applications, which may be blocking your ability to connect to the ArenaNet servers. We recommend disabling your firewall first and seeing if this fixes the issue. To quickly eliminate whether or not background applications might be interfering with the client, you may want to try disabling background processes which is outlined in the KB article below:

https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/27698133-Connectivity

You may also want to check to make sure that you are running the installation as the administrator.

Beyond this, please submit a support ticket to our Technical Support Team so that we may gather some more information from you in order to locate the cause of this issue.

She did say “No time to explain!” before she hastily grabbed the egg and left, so I personally don’t think she’s working for the enemy.
However, this might have something to do with Caithe’s big secret Scarlet teased us about in the Twilight Arbor dungeon episode in season 1.
Also the one thing I got excited about in this patch was the talk they had about Gleam, the baby dragon we saved in GW1, whose name was also finally revealed. I personally do think it’s still very much alive, probably the voice that was guiding the Master of Peace in Glint’s lair and I wouldn’t be surprised if Caithe knew about it aswell.

Also a fun fact: There’s a zephyrite merchant named Gleam in the peaceful centaur camp in Dry Top.

Well, shucks, you guys, why didn’t we just waypoint out of there? We got these wonderful waypoint things that are so great we don’t mounts — so why would we need choppers? Or ships at sea. Or anything else! It’s silly.

Also: we’ve got super laser beam thingees that can slice chunks off elder dragons — and choppers and submarines. How do they communicate in the field (or at sea)?

How come nobody has invented a radio?

@Bobby: Thanks for popping in.

You’re welcome. I try to stop by when I can. As you can imagine, our schedules are very packed these days, so I’m not able to interact with the community as much as I’d like. But I appreciate the sentiment.

I got a question though. Would it be possible in the future to appeal to some of the bigger critism, if it is reasonable?

There are hundreds of opinions being posted on our forums alone, with thousands of others on different message boards (reddit, gaming sites, etc.). Which ones do you mean?

I feel like we are only able to bash you with not much defense from your side(though we can argue that every critism is usefull).

I made a deal with myself long ago not to get mired in forum debates. If I see something I can comment on, I usually do. Otherwise I merely observe. I’d rather let the release speak for itself, since that’s what we’re ultimately judged on. As long as the criticism is constructive and respectful (and doesn’t attack the people who worked tirelessly on the release) we can always learn from it.

It sometimes feels like we just have to wait and see if there will be change. Not that you have to be overly defensive, since I bet that you have your reasons most of the time (the whole team of course), but simple explanation like time constrains for example would be helpfull to keep us from being sour and would actually allow some insight into the developing process which is always nice.

This is a potentially huge topic, and not one that is suited for the forums. About all I can say about game development is that there are always reasons why things are done a certain way. Time constraints play a role in that, as do available resources, quality control, and scope.

Back on topic. It seems that people liked the lore books. How would you like to see them improve or evolve? Examples help.

Thanks.

Misconceptions regarding Level gating.

Game Director

Hey folks,

Wanted to pop by and give another update on where we stand, as well as to help provide some information on some of the more common misconceptions we’ve seen floating around as well:

- There are bugs! We’ve seen the content direction system (the little arrow) pointing people at super high level maps when it shouldn’t, some systems/features not unlocking as intended for all characters on your account once your first learns them, some systems level gated that aren’t intended to be, balance issues where certain levels appear to be very out of whack, etc. As I mentioned earlier in this thread, our team is working to figure out what happened here and fix these as quickly as possible.

- There is misinformation: Numerous systems that show up in the level up guide that teaches you about things in the game when you gain levels are not locked out, the system simply tells you they exist in the game to help give you a better list of things you can do. Just because it’s included in the level up guide, doesn’t mean it’s actually locked out. You can dodge from level one, jumping puzzle from level one, etc. There also appear to be a lot of folks chiming in who haven’t actually played with any of the system, and are making claims that aren’t remotely true.

- There are some things happening at the wrong levels. Things like utility skills and elites are intended to come at approx. the same time they used to in actual game time, we sped up leveling for levels 1-15 and had them slide back in levels a bit to offset that pacing, they are not currently where we want them to be in the level up system. This was an oversight, and will absolutely be fixed.

- Not all of these changes were made as ways to teach the game, some of them are to provide a better sense of pacing, reward and progression. Early on we want to give a sense that you’re rapidly gaining new abilities, rewards, and learning new things as you level up. We added the level up reward messages, and the actual rewards themselves, and took abilities you’d usually use around that point in total game hours and presented them as unlocks (or things we teach that are already unlocked) to help give a better sense of pacing and progression.

With the addition of the new rewards, messaging, and level up screen to make leveling more exciting: we also wanted to make sure you had that feeling of excitement more often early on in the game, and presented new learning on a more regular cadence. So we greatly sped up leveling from levels 1-15. Many of the things unlocked at later levels are earned at about the same time period you used to start using them in the old system in actual real game time, we just staggered them out across the levels since we sped up leveling to make the game feel more rewarding early on.

- In general, this system is intended to be not only better for new players, but our hope is by the time it’s all in place you’ll find via the better rewards from levels 1-80 via the level up guide, the better rewards from personal story, the faster leveling from 1-15, and the ability to toggle the content direction system to help you with map complete will make this a better for experienced players as well.

- Over a years worth of testing with new players found we were absolutely able to keep them both more engaged, and more likely to return to keep playing Gw2 as a result of the intended system. That is at the end of the day, a win for all of us since all of you need more people to play with! However: if we find in the live environment that isn’t true and we’re not retaining new users better, we’ll absolutely both share that information with you, and continue to iterate to make it better. We keep very real time metrics of player retention for new users, and we’ll know very quickly how effective the work we’ve done is. I want to make it clear: what we used to have absolutely wasn’t good enough for our standards of retaining new users. Before we do some of the other things we want to do with Gw2, we had to fix this, period.

- Finally, I want to add that a few things (hello traits!) are things that can be improved for players who make multiple alts, we’re aware of this, and though company policy prevents us from discussing what’s in development: I can say we know Gw2 can be an even better game for people who love making alts in the long run, more info: when it’s ready™.

Konig Des Todes.2086

From the update notes:

Chapter Focus:

  • Chapter 7 is now focused on helping Trahearne cleanse Orr.
  • Chapter 8 is now focused on defeating Zhaitan.

Apparently they removed the entire fear storyline (the story steps between Forging the Pact and The Battle of Fort Trinity).

So I went onto my thief which had completed the PS and now it’s set up as:

Chapter 7:
Forging the Pact -> The Battle of Fort Trinity -> Against the Corruption -> Cathedral of Silence/Romke’s Last Voyage -> The Source of Orr

Chapter 8:
Temple of the Forgotten God -> Through the Looking Glass / Close the Eye -> What the Eye Beholds -> Estate of Decay / Starving the Beast -> A Grisly Shipment / Ossuary of Unquiet Dead -> Further into Orr -> (subsequent storylines) -> Victory or Death

This makes no sense. Why did they remove an entire story chapter and shuffle Chapter 8 around? I don’t think it’d make any sense now for The Source of Orr, as now we’re fighting the Sovereign Eye of Zhaitan before we fight regular Eye of Zhaitan and learn about it?

Is there a purpose behind this? Has the entire story involved changed? This makes no sense!

Apatia’s story was one of the best parts of the PS, imo, especially the latter, and the division of them was implemented so well with the Pale Tree asking players what their fear was and creating a division based off of that.

And now we’re going into the Cursed Shore via “air drop” well before we invade into Cursed Shore with the army. And the entire point of Chapter 7 previously was to obtain benefits for the army (the Blue Orb, recruits, etc.) while Fort Trinity was being built, but now it’s suddenly built just like that… It’s not even a division between story chapters for the gap, it’s just… there.

I just… what?

Can someone from ArenaNet please explain this to me, as I am truly baffled.

Dear ANet writers,
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.

Jennah. The whole set up with her being last known heir of Kryta, but there actually existing someone else who’s an heir but no one knowing who it is (Human Personal story episode when you join one of the orders → listen to NPC talk before you talk to them; Order of Whispers guy states they suspect or know another heir exists).

So – amulet’s showing someone’s face, noone knows who it is.
My guess is we’ll be involved in finding this heir (I really hope it’s not Kasmeer :P – “I love what you are wearing! I must get a dress in those colors”)

Or maybe the heir will be targeted as well?

Trahearne I think fills a role that’d be hard to fill with someone else, so I doubt they’d kill him off. It would mean most likely the orders would become disorganized again, and I doubt that would happen at this point.

It would make sense for Mordremoth to target treaty negotiations I suppose, yet I wonder why Jennah is hinted at as very important. There might be something else there. Is this cause her throne is on a bloodstone shard?

So, which is the more likely first target?

Jennah was referenced through the locket, and she’s a powerful mesmer so there’s lots of magic to drain on.

Then again, Trahearne is a bigger threat and has a jummy magic sword to eat.

If you can read this then it is proof that ArenaNet’s moderators just, kind and fair.

[SUGGESTION] Hand health features

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: MithranArkanere.8957

MithranArkanere.8957

Here are some changes that I think should be done to improve hand health while playing this game:

Crafting improvements:

Inventory improvements:

  • All remaining one-time instant effect consumables like essences of luck, drinks that count for thirst slayer and potions of karma should get the Consume All context menu entry.
  • All containers, bags, boxes and packaged goods that produce random loot on use should get a right click context menu option to “Open all”. Choosing that option would open a small panel that looks like the bottom half of the crafting window in the crafting panel, with a progress bar and a cancel button, and stopping automatically if the inventory is full.
  • Transferring items between the bank and the inventory should require single clicks from the bank panel. Same with the collections panel.
  • Hidden tabs or closed bags should be ignored when transferring items between the ban and the inventory by clicking them.
  • Empty slots in invisible bags should be the last to be filled by the system (e.g.: Looted items, crafter items, items from loot bags…). If there’s any other empty slot in the inventory, getting an item should put it in hat other slot instead, giving priority to the player to use invisible bag slots.

Salvage improvements

  • An option to bypass the salvage confirmation dialog could be added. For example, once this option is enabled, clicking with Shift+click with the salvage cursor prompt would not make the confirmation appear.

Autoattack improvement

  • When a ground-targeted skill has auto-attack enabled, holding the left mouse button or skill key down should keep the ground target marker visible and attempt to continuously use that skill on the target marker instead having to repeatedly press them.
  • A toggle option could be added. So using the skill once starts autoattacking, and using the skill again stops autoattacking, instead having to holster the weapon to stop.

Autotarget improvement:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/SUGGESTION-Hand-health-features/3835695

Toggleable Ctrl and Alt:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Hand-health-features/3839248
(I ran out of space!)

What other features you think could be added to reduce strain in our hands while playing?

Done!

  • You can disable activating objects with right clik in the options panel!
  • We can salvage in bulk!
  • When transferring stackable items from and to the bank, the client searches for stacks of the same item, and tries to send then directly to the stack!
  • Vendors got a spinner and number boxes to buy in bulk!
  • Recipes from consumables are now account bound (except a few bugged ones, report those if you find them!)!

Can I buy a "stack" of items from a vendor

Hello all,

hoping someone can help me out on this. I was trying to buy a large quantity of an item from a vendor the vendor sells the item individually and I needed somewhere around 300-600 of them. I couldn’t find a way to buy a quantity and clicked about 200 times before i took a break. Is there any way to buy a “quantity of an item” like you could in WoW or do I really have to click 600 times?

Any help would be appreciated

All rolled into one zone. However, me and a lot of other players from Aurora Glade, are of course hoping they’ll also add more of Aurora Glade. There’s only part of the mission that is now included in GW2. But we’re still missing the outpost I think.
