Firstly I would like to apologise to anyone who has offended or hurt by my previous posts, it was never my intention, I had no idea that my post would project such negativity; the chaos that ensued was not calculated nor intended.

I made those posts as a general outlook at some of the problems that exist in Guildwars 2, most of which were apparent and old news for most of the Guildwars PvP community; my intention was that some form of positive debate would follow, where ideas would be bounced around and people could reflect onto ArenaNet how they would like to see these problems solved.
Although I do understand those problems are common knowledge, I also understand that these forums exist as a medium between the community and developers; as I am aware that the developers do understand the problems with their game and probably have far more comprehensive knowledge about their game than myself, but this is the only thing in my power as a player trying to assist a game I once loved. I doubt that anyone who actively participates in these forums wishes to see this game fail, but people just express themselves in different ways thats the beauty of being human.

However I now understand that I made a mistake, I had not realised how far the PvP community had degraded, I couldn’t possibly fathom such a reaction.
I am by nature hopelessly positive, and it does at times cloud my judgement, anyone who has ever watched us stream can vouch for this, I see hope when we are down 400 points and 3 capped.

Regardless, I would like to extended my sincerest apology to the developer’s and the rest of the community.
I wish to see this game succeed, I love this game as much as anyone else; just because I have decided to depart doesn’t mean I harbour any ill-intent.
I also have the deepest respect for both Jonthan Sharp and Jon Peters, I have had the pleasure of speaking to both, and I can assure you guys they love this game, and they love the community, sadly their hands are tied and I am sure if they were given the resources, there would be no better e-sport out there.

I understand how a lot of you feel, but Chaos and flaming will not solve anything, there are better ways to go around communicating; I say this because trust me I have been in the same situation as you guys for the past year, and I know exactly how you feel, but lets not try and destroy what little we have.
Two wrongs will never make things right.

Effectively, the majority of this has already been implemented. The progression system I am suggesting is similar to that of LoL/Starcraft 2. That being, it centers around the existing matchmaking system. The only thing that is missing is to make a player’s league instantly recognizable in game. This is actually incredibly important. The core of this system revolves around providing players with manageable milestones and allowing the community to recognize your skill. In Starcraft 2, this is done in the UI with the portrait border. This gives players a something to work toward. A tread mill. A hook to keep playing. A Skill based progression system.

TL;DR Use the Leaderboards to create a LoL/Starcraft 2 style league system and create a progression system on it’s own.

P.S. This could be implemented quickly and easily with the existing system that marks Anet dev nameplates. Just make them appear for everyone in the Mists with a different graphic based on leaderboard placing.

This is specifically about the tournament and structured PvP, not the rest of the events or game types.

Pros:
- A tournament happened, bringing in extra publicity.
- Two teams walked away with cash prizes.

Cons:
- The current metagame remained in place for two-plus months because developers refused to make big changes while a tournament was underway.
- Anyone who actually watched the tournament got to see what a mess the game currently is. “Petting zoo,” as funny as it seemed to be to two developers, actually represents something seriously wrong with the game.
- The viewership numbers were so low that it probably reinforced many people’s perspective that Guild Wars 2 PvP is dead.

What do you guys think?

1: Add an audible alert to when the match start window comes up. We have audible alerts now for achievement completions but not for this? Complete insanity.

2: Move or add Ready Check to BEFORE match/map entry. Again, hard to believe this has not been done.

3: Do not start matches that are not even strength at timer countdown, period. Either re-open the slot, extend the countdown by a small set amount or kick everyone back to lobby…there is absolutely no reason to start a match that is uneven strength.

4: Add reporting for AFKs and leavers.

5: Make leaving a match before match end, or not being present at match end, however you want to code it, cost a player a rank point or points or match wins. They do it enough times, they’ll be down to rank one and/or matched up in scenarios that – since it seems clear someone has to pay the price for their actions – at least have minimal impact on game quality.

None of these things are hard. Some of them are obvious, even clearly vital. I have yet to see a single statement by Anet as to why they have not done any of these yet…but here’s hoping they will surprise me.

Unresponsiveness

Has anyone else noticed that this game is considerably less responsive since the last patch?

I’m talking from basic abilities to using my mouse to move, which sometimes completely stops working while I’m running. Everything has an extra weight and failure to it that it didn’t before.

I thought this was just me at first, but a couple people mentioned it today while I was playing. One engineer says it’s particularly noticeable with skills like Elixir R, which require relatively quick reaction.

Changed from Healing Surge to Healing Signet is because Healing Signet combine with Lyssa Rune is really good. Also another purpose is to against other none skilled required cheesy warrior build, such as GS/Mace Shield.

After playing hundreds of solo q games I realized it’s just a sync que. I was higher rank when I started and won most games, but as I took more risks I dropped in rank. Now I cannot win a game without ALOT of luck. I even tried spirit ranger to get back up, but I couldn’t pull out people who were just killing and not holding points etc. I had good hopes for solo q but unfortunately this is a joke. Over 30 losses and about 4 wins today. When I was higher in rank I was getting 15 win streaks. I hope they fix this, or I’m going elsewhere. Sad that I used to defend Anet.

Here’s to hoping I don’t get flamed for this idea, but it seems to me that condition clearing isn’t enough because conditions are being applied way more often than was the case prior to release…due mostly to players understanding their immense power and playing the game better.

Instead of just giving a flat nerf to condi duration or coming up with some sort of new boon that eats condition duration (like we need any more boons/conditions), why don’t we implement a specific playstyle condition clearing system. When you play a certain way, it counters specific conditions. These would be outside of your class or build.

Some conditions have exceptions, but here’s a quick list of what I think you could make as hard condition counters:

  • Weakness – Landing attacks reduces Weakness duration
  • Vulnerability – Getting hit reduces 1 stack of intensity
  • Torment – Moving reduces Torment duration
  • Poison – Receiving HP reduces Poison duration
  • Immobilize – Attempting to jump reduces Immobilize duration
  • Fear – Exception Condition, counts as both a condition and a control effect
  • Cripple – Moving reduces Cripple duration
  • Confusion – Using a skill reduces 1 stack of intensity
  • Chilled – Acquiring Burn condition negates both
  • Burning – Dodge roll reduces burning duration
  • Blind – Already hard-countered with attacking
  • Bleed – Exception Condition, no counter but to clear

Fear, Chilled and Bleed are slight exceptions and here’s why. Bleed just straight-up does damage. There’s really no reason to hard-counter a condition that was meant simply to damage, not to control the way you play. Fear is always short, won’t stack, is removed by stunbreakers and you’re immune to it with Stability up. There’s enough counter to Fear.

Chilled should only last for short periods of time and classes who frequently apply Chilled are not without burning. The ele is a prime example here. If you have a Chilled target, it creates a situation where you don’t want to immediately swap to your Fire attunement and hit him with Burning. If you’ve just used a Freeze Grenade on your engi, you want to avoid the Flamethrower kit or stack Blowtorch with Rocket Kick. The necro would have to think about whether he’s building for crit and damage with burning or fear and chill…sort of a ‘hot’ necro or ‘cold’ necro.

Well you get the idea. I understand there would have to be a few skill tweaks and trait tweaks with classes that have specific applications and removals…that comes with the territory of a change like this.

I also realize that it might be too late in the game’s life for a change of this caliber…and if it is, its just too bad. This is exactly the kind of gameplay countering that should have existed in the first place.

Good, bad, thoughts, etc below…just please don’t flamewar about the condi meta, we’ve got enough of that.

Ok I know a lot of you play as asuran but this race has such a benefit over other classes because of its small stature and this game isnt supposed to give game changing racial bonuses. My eyesight is fine but half the time when asuran is using a block skill I cannot tell because they are so tiny and poorly telegraphed. I have cought tons of reflect projectiles cuz of this. Can you guys at ANET do something about this? perhaps make them 50% larger? they would still be smallest class. Another option which I think is pretty cool but I know you devs would never implement would be to scale DPS with size.

For example The largest norn would have a 1.1 damage multiplier while the smallest asuran would be something like .9 damage multiplier. This way when you build big characters you get some extra dmg too offeset the wvw aggro and ez read telegraphs and if you build tiny you get some reduced dmg because vice versa. I think this a really cool idea because a gigantic norn should be hitting way harder then the tiniest asuran in the first place. I feel ashamed when I see my friends rerolling the same class as Asuran just because they know the advantage it brings. Plz do something about this.

Ask your self as a non-thief: Would you rather fight a tanky target that you can actually hit? Or a glass cannon target that hits you 100% of the time and you can’t hit 90% of the time?

Thieves need to be fixed.

The real joke is the number of evades/teleports/ stealth stomps/ shadow step stomps/ unlimited get out of jail cards -instant zero cool down teleports on sword that bypass both stuns and immob- as well as shadow refuge abuses -dropping it before you go down so you remain downed and stealthed thus avoiding a stomp-.

Also..damage doesn’t reveal stealthed opponents.

When all of these cheap cheezy mechanics are fixed maybe then we will look at other classes.

The amount of evades the thief filmed are insane. The thief class needs to be fixed.

There are always hard to kill classes given your build such as bunker guardians.You can’t have anything as a thief. This isn’t real life where daddy and mommy give you everything you want.

Try playing a non-cheezy class and maybe use some skill instead of having a class carry you.

Well, yeah, their mitigation is pretty active, that’d be ideal. But instead of engaging mechanics and varied skills rangers got sat with a single option because the rest suck, and the option they got stuck with happens to be the most boring one, ever.

Guardian is one of the most polished classes in the game. Warrior was too, his only issue was uptime in teamfights.

And what did they do? Oh, Give them 800 health regen with minimal investment, and the most broken high cd stances that make them 1v1 gods and temporary immune, but still doesn’t fix them in team fights because the broken 40-50 sec cd godly stances that break them in 1v1 will not be available in many of the teamfights.

Instead of giving them slightly more condi removal more often, they give them 8-10 seconds of condition immunity, 4 seconds of damage immunity, and 8 seconds of stability alongside the brokenness of signet of rage+ lyssa for an unpeelable damage monster.

Everybody should have known that with the damage they do warriors could not possibly have high uptime on targets, but it happened anyways and now you see things melt because there’s no way the other classes were balanced to survive eating a hundred blades or an eviscerate on top of the constant high damage autoattacks of the warrior who’s now regening 800 health per sec and has not only shield stance bur berserker stance and endure pain to wait out the second skull crack into hundred blades.

When hyperboles like these are presented, we really have to blame ourselves, the playerbase, for the mess that PvP has become.

800 regen per second comes with minimal investment?

Do you honestly believe that a Cleric amulet and a completely defensive build can be considered “minimal investment”? (Because I really hope you know that you have to run 30 in Tactics and 30 in Defense to get to that number). But that’s not all, you will have to run two mediocre utilities for that as well as a heal that you can never activate.

Seriously guys, the hyperboles need to stop, unless you have more fun playing the forums than playing the game.

So you survived for over 4 minutes against the warrior by mostly pressing #3 skill and nearly beating him. Guess that makes you 2nd in line to be OP

Even the warrior didn’t play that well. Coloxeus’ gameplay was still just… Terrible though. He would fail so hard against top players.

I played against a stunlock warrior from my guild yesterday, and I don’t want them nerfed. They’re strong, but fun to play against and you can beat them if you grind them down enough.

I think we should nerf mesmers though, because what’s a class update without a mesmer nerf?
