Then tell me how pro-warriors like you, evade the cluster of AoE-Damage raining on you while still doing viable dmg in 130 range against evading opponents.

Maybe its time to switch from the fantasy based warrior to a more sci-fi futuristic warrior.

Give em teleports, portal, stealth and combat shields! Heck give them night vision and infra-red heat seeking googles (or at least give a graphics mod for this, would be cool! Wouldn’t really serve any purpose though, just to look cool :P).

Do away with barbaric ancient weapons like the mace, sword, greatsword, warhorn, rifle and axe and replace with electric brass knuckles, light sabers, electrical whip, megaman arm cannon and futuristic assault rifle. Elite can be a summoned tank or golem that a warrior can climb into for some real pain on the battlefield!

Just saying, a futuristic warrior/soldier would be kitten cool. Probably wouldn’t fit into the lore of GW2 or whatever, but at least it would improve the welfare of warriors by giving them some useful services ala teleport and stealth!

Well this is probaby never going to happen, but I’m bored at work and daydreaming ….

Making Cleansing Ire truly viable

Currently, Cleansing Ire removes a condition for each adrenaline bar spent. While this isn’t a bad concept in itself, the problem arises when you look at the burst abilities. The only burst ability no which you can reliably count to remove conditions is longbow and rifle burst abilities. Both are ranged, and longbow burst will remove conditions even if it doesn’t hit a target.

If you are getting cc’ed, slowed and kited, Eviscerate, Flurry and Skull Crack are very hard to land. This means Cleansing Ire also becomes hard to utilize, in particular in situations when you need it – while getting chilled, crippled, immobilized and under condi dmg pressure.

An alternative to the current Cleansing Ire mechanic would be this: Whenever you reach one full adrenaline bar, you cleanse one condition. Currently, including various traits, there are several ways to gain adrenaline: Hitting with melee and ranged attacks, being hit, and using shouts. This way, Cleansing Ire would work even if you are kited. This would increase warrior sustainability in teamfights. If it is still too weak or too powerful, one could change the amount of adrenaline necessary to cleanse a condition to X strikes of adrenaline.

Similarly, as others have suggested, a trait which grants you healing whenever you gain adrenaline would suit warrior playstyle and contribute to warrior sustainability in teamfights.

To be honest I think it’s an issue of something that’s easier to play, but not necessarily more effective to play. Playing builds/compositions that can be played by (essentially) spamming things (whether it’s power damage, condi damage, evades, extreme bunkering, or whatever) is going to be a lot easier to play. When this happens these builds/compositions seem to scream “overpowered” in lower tiers of play. You kind of see this in other games as well.

I also think there’s some merit to the issue of something being new that you’re just not used to fighting. We see this a lot with builds when they first become popular.

Follidus = Dead on.

Necro pre-patch was probably the highest skill floor class in the game with Engineer being the only debatably close second. When the patch hit the bar got lowered (probably by a bit too much considering the post-patch offensive capabilities). People saw that Necro got massive changes, so everyone wanted to test them out. This lead to multiple necros winding up in solo que comps and rolling over teams that they had no business beating, because the teams will ill prepared for that kind of condition overload. Once people saw dual necro comps rolling over teams the bandwagon jumpers and QQers took over, so you have this odd state where everyone is playing a necro when in game and in their spare time they come to the forums to cry for nerf. This is stupidity.

Necro could stand a tweak, but in skilled play it isn’t wildly out of balance. They don’t need a nerf hammer. There are counters that work.

For people saying that DPS is not viable: You are flat wrong. Most of the time when I see a multi-necro comp on my opponents’ team I will character swap specifically to DPS in order to have the upper hand, and it has worked. You have to run some different skill sets than you would have before the patch, and you have to invest a little time getting competent with the new build that you run as a counter, but it isn’t a big deal.

When the next patch hits they are going to tweak more things, and there will be more change to the meta. Hopefully they raise the skill floor for Necro without destroying the top end capabilities, but we’ll see.

It doesn’t have to do something with high skillfloor or not. Necro pre-patch had to be babysitted by other classes to work. This has nothing to do with high-play, you need just a setup to work around necro. That is the same with the warrior now. You can build up a setup around this class and it’s working. But the deficit is overlapping the posivite aspects of this.

MiM for eg. played a long time with warrior. They had brought a bunker-ele to effieciently heal the warrior up, while the warrior can sustain enough to do the damage. This works pretty well in static teamfights, but as soon as you have to split your team up, that’s a heavy disadvantage.
The necro had the same problem. Since the patch his survivability hasn’t changed, but the effectiveness of his dmg-output is overhelming and replaced infact the old placeholder named HGH.

seriously…I’m sick tired of the current situation…condition spec are way over the top, at least you could still kill easily high burst builds, but these condition dmg are absolutely ridiculous, so tanky and the amount of pressure is unrealistic

It’s far too easy to spam conditions, professions like : necro-ranger-mesmer-engy they can fill you up with conditions with the godkitten auto-attack and we’re talking about 3-4 conditions at time.

On a point you place a necro and engy and they kill anybody who try to come on that point even if it’s 2 of them vs1, even if burst it’s the solution, you’re forced to pack as much condition removal as you can to even get a chance to hit them.

Necro-engy and mesmer can fill you up with conditions at 1200 range, by the time you even reach 900 range, 40-50% of your HP is gone and unless you’ve got stealth how the hell can you even approach the point unnoticed?

Engy players keep kittening crying that their profession is UP, my kitten engy it’s UP!
They can heal like [censored] while they fill you up with 6-7 conditions every 1-2s, they’ve got stun/daze/knockback…hey devs why don’t you give them a nuclear bomb directly? They’ve already got every possible condition, CC and heal almost like guardians..but pls warriors and eles need nerfs before everything

P.S hey engy got already a nuclear bomb and it’s called : Supply Crate, 2nd most OP elite in game after Time warp and Moa Form which occupy same 1st position

Necros….omfg…I changed my mind…I was so so wrong about them, you face 3 necros all chain fearing you, signet of spite, chill, bleeding,burning, cripple…every godkitten crap you can possible imagine

Then you get mesmer, confusion shatter everywhere and again: cripple, bleeding, confusion, torment and more and more

Finally you get trap rangers with their godkitten dog , traps everywhere….

Do I look frustated?
Well dear devs you tell me what I’m supposed to do when every single pixel on the screen is filled up with conditions, they just throw conditions at you like no tomorrow..pew-pew-pew…my god…

Anywhere you go everyone, there mother, there dog and there bird is playing condi spec… i mean, there and condis flying everywhere there are not enough condi removers in the universe to counter this…. there is NO WAY to survive this…

Necros are all condi
Engis are mostly condi
Thieves (about 50% of them are condi)
Rangers are condi
Mailman is condi
Buss driver is condi
….

Condis here condis there condis everyware….

On a more serious note… It is very clear (for me at least) that this game will never see any kind of balance and honestly, my patience for this ended a while ago.

Too many boosters, not enough powder

I have too many glory boosters. Can’t even use them all. Tournament chests give them often. Then from dailies. There should be another way to use them.

Also there is not enough powder. I usually convert stuff into dyes and have also too many orbs and other stuff cause the recipe does not use that much… but uses 10 powder.

I’d recommend to make it at least possible to sell stuff for glory… and make it possible to buy powder or to convert glory boosters or orbs, crystals, slivers into powder.

1.Do not let enemy decap your node.
2.Do not fight off node while your enemy is capping it and no one on your team is on it.
3.If you see 2 guys coming at you and you have node capped don’t run away even if you know your going to lose, its best to hold it and stall them as long as you can while on node.
4.If you have a node capped and you see an enemy running to decap it, go back and hold the node, don’t be scared to 1v1, if you suck 1v1 just stall them and try and avoid damage while holding the node.
5. If enemy has a node capped and bunkering it/holding it don’t try and take it by yourself unless you know youll take it or neut it for a good amount of time, many times its best to wait for backup.

One of the biggest problems in solo que is that nobody wants to hold a node, everyone is too busy playing there “support builds” and no one can hold a node worth a dime. Even those non bunker guardians, biggest waste of space in solo que. IF YOU PLAY GUARDIAN PLAY BUNKER.

Hey guys,

I would like to preface this with the fact that I have been playing predominantly sPvP since release, am rank 37 and have broken top 1000 on leaderboards (968, but still XD).

That out of the way. I want to take the time to really understand the basics of tPvP node control, rotating, co-ordinating spikes etc., and am approaching this as a blank canvas.

Can those of you with experience on these parts of co-ordinated play please share your knowledge and experience to help me better my abilities and contribute more to my team.

Especially the Savage leap part. I mean seriously this is ridiculous. Maybe they should also put some extra super visuals to that skill, so that the person that warrior wants to leap at gets a flashy screen and lightnings start shooting from the sky, before warrior finally lifts of… Jesus man, seriously, that skill doesn’t even hit people standing 2 meters away from me, while they are simply just linearly moving… :S

Maybe Anet should make some kind of funny mini game, where people are standing on the edge of the cliff and warriors try to savage leap them. If warrior misses he falls off the cliff and into a lava pool. That would be funny! The warrior that hits his target tho, gets a candy medal and gets to participate at the next GW2 para-olympics!!!

Let’s all make fun of warriors YEAHAAAHAAAAWWWW!!

Original design of banners was to paint gruesome pictures on them and then plant them into your dead opponents orifices for their comrades to view. ArenaNet assumed this would force the other team to play worse because of how disgusting their corpses were treated.

Then PR got involved and figured it would be ‘PC’. Now we have no roll in PvP.

So I have been running sword a bit lately in wvw and SPVP, and there are a few things that I have had the privilege to be infuriated at,, the pathing in savage leap in combat is absolutely terrible, I say maybe 25% of the time I hit my target (if I’m not blinded by this ridiculous blind spam). I’m running the sword with a leg specialist trying to take full advantage of the cripples.

Final Thrust cast time and animation are infuriating, the skill in combat just seems terribly unresponsive. THE ONLY way to land this skill is to hit flurry first. There is no kitten way you can land this ability on a moving target, its not happening, let alone someone spamming blinds and teleports, which makes this laughable at best. The cast time is to kitten long and the wind-up ( like ALL of our skills and nobody else’s) is ridiculous.

I have been nothing but frustrated with sword, savage leap jumping way the kitten over top of the target, or just even the target running towards you makes this skill miss all the time.

RUSH is completely pathetic as well on GS 5, it wasn’t fixed, in fact this skill almost never connects now.

ANET this is ridiculous.

Our animations are stupidly obvious when NO other class has such obvious animations. Our survivability is kitten, blinds are out of control.

This class doesn’t even belong in this game of teleport, evade, cripple chill, and blind spam. In fact it is embarrassing to be teleported around running around like a kittening dog trying to land these worthless gap closing abilities. It’s embarrassing chasing a thief or Mesmer while crippled only to finally get there and have the target teleport 900-1200 range away from you and by the time you fight through the Aoe and conditions they teleport back.

However, I was thinking… how many access to teleport do thieves have in tournaments? Is there the risk I bait their teleport, immobilize them, and they can just evade/teleport again?

They have a lot of teleports, far more than 1. Expect like 3.

I wouldnt swap sword for Axe unless your role was to sit near home point / mid point.

If you go GS your burst will be higher but your survivability will be lower. Pick your poisen.

I’m going to take your build out there and see how it goes, temple zergs and events is all I’ve been doing lately, probably going to be better than my old GS build due to the AoE capability!
And get your fiance in gaming, we need more girls around

She doesn’t mind me gaming but the most she ever does is Angry Birds. But she’ll do that for hours. I’ll be picking up a PS4 when it comes out, hopefully she’ll enjoy Knack because ‘that looks cute!’.

I’m lucky enough, when we got a place together she ‘allowed’ me to have a man cave. Can’t rock the boat to hard!

I’ve been playing the class from day 1, but I’m no warrior specialist so I usually lurk the forums for good advice/builds.
Do you think this build could translate into PvE? I’m not looking to excel at PvE using a PvP build, just to avoid having to respect for roaming PvP (Causal PvPer here) or to learn the playstile before joining sPvP matches. I’m very monotask (stay home mom) so I’d rather have one build going for playstile.

Longbow damage could get pretty crazy in PvE, im sure in multi-mob fights it could compete if not do better than some zerker builds. But in a single target I’m unsure of the numbers.

Teach your kids Excel and basic math, force them into theorycrafting.

Make a margarita and reap the rewards while simultaneously touting your childrens adept mathematics skill.

What we need is simple actually – as simple as ur skills that does damage olny.

Doesnt matter what weapons set we will put up – there always should be 2 blocks on two hand weapons, and 1 per one hand weps, some of them can carry evade (axe 2 seems to be good candidate) instead of block. All of them should have damage on pair with mace block. Thats first step to improve sustain.

Step 2 – doesnt matter what class u pick, all of them have something else than just damage of some laughable vul stack. We need to have spread some short vigor, regeneration, switness, stability on them. As for stability i would think about skills like shield stance and..burst skills.

Step 3 – Looking at the other classes we sees to be underpowered, Thats false. Warrior is actually balanced, other classes are simply op comparing them to warrior. Key is: do u will nerf 7 classes into ground to warrior level, or u will improve warrior to match rest? Selfrooting, obvious, slow cast skills – we need to get rid of them all. Theres no trick, not a single boom more when u can say “wow, i dindt seen that killshot coming” not to mention that we actually need to set them up as without any help they are hard to land

Step 4 – Mobility. Something we lack. We olny have 1 real gap closer/opener – savage leap. The olny one that inst affected by cripple/chill.
Bullrush would be decent but unlike savage bull is affected.
Whirdwind inst barery a gap closer, its just an evade move with little range that is also affected by cripple/chill.
Rush is definitely too slow, watching myself doing that i feel im on marathon for oldmans. Affected by cripple/chill, takes years to “rush” through 1200meters, and also has fairy high cd (20 untrained). Personally i vote for rush to be the same as guardian leap of faith without blind, and cd lowered to 15sec and lets have it done.

Step 5 – Adrenaline mechanic. Best example is cleansing ire. Its seems to be good..problem is..we have to rely on burst skills to land in order to remove conditions, its even funnier with blind that got bugged. I would like to see a F2, F3, F4 to be build into our mechanic rathen than picking a special trait to limit urself. Example how its could work:

F2 – Cleansing ire – spend our adrenaline on curing conditions, and gain health (1 condition per bar, heal for 1k per bar)
F3 – Defensive stance – spend our adrenaline on highter damage reduction (10% per bar) lasts for 5 sec. Damage is decreased by 5% per par
F4 – Agresive stance – spend our adrenaline on highter damage output (5% per bar). Hits taken are increased by 5% per bar spend

Step 6 – Healing abilities. If all the steps above will be done, all we need is little tweaking like some cd reduction, buffing signet to around 300hp/sec.

Hope i dindt wasted my time on writting that. Thats just my opinion and a review from my point of view on warrior based on my own experience in tpvp/wvw/pve. Over 2k hours played and keep counting.

And instead just permanently increase glory gain by 50%? There is really no sense behind it at all in my opinion and I just cumulate them in my locker because I am too lazy to fetch/activate them after “deposite all”.

Also remove the generic PvP Weapons (PvP Torch, PvP Warhorn, etc) from the reward chests. I mean you can buy that stuff from the weapon vendor. It is just stupid that those are in chests, just reward a different weapon or the Arcane Powder directly ….

There is so much basic stuff wrong with the reward system. Really makes me wonder how much they care.

You can’t run a melee DPS in the state the meta is in atm… too much AoE and condi spam. That stuff isn’t fun for anyone so why even promote it? Just cut it out and you don’t even need to buff warrior (much).

I just hate the way they’ve promoted the most cheesiest builds they could think of. Why did they think it would be fun to fight a highly mobile constantly healing boon popping bunkering ele? Why did they think it would be fun to fight rangers and their pets with constant prot & regen & huge evasion? Why did they think it would be fun to fight against evade spamming thieves? Why do they now think its fun to fight against AoE spam or condi overload? ITS JUST NOT FUN, and a million miles away from e-sport land. In fact at this point I don’t think the devs know what that would even look like – and this is coming from a huge a-net fanboy. I am so disappointed.

Warrior is actually how all classes in GW2 should be. No cheap moves, no cheap AoE, no 1 button miracles. Work for the kittening kill!! That’s how true e-sports should be like.

Tone down aoe, tone down stealths, illusions and all the crap that’s poluting the game, and we might just see some playable spvp then.

I so agree with this. I can’t +1 you enough.
PvP in this game has gotten out of control: blinds all over the place, free access to vigor, low CD on demand invulnerabilities/blocks/evades, etc.
The Warrior is the best designed profession, with well telegraphed skills that allow for counter play and require good positioning, offer a good measure of risk vs reward, they have to balance their traits to have good damage and/or good defense, their weapons have a clear and defined porpuse (ex. every Mesmer taking sword mh due to an OP invulnerability), so do their traits and utility skills.

The balance in this game has already gotten into the Whac-A-Mole way, sticking new stuff out of nowhere (Torment), overbuffing Necromancers, not tunning down certain things enough… instead of balancing what’s already there.

I agree on AoE damage, which has been a little too much for some time now, this includes Warriors as well.
