I really dislike the changes to skyhammer. The only people you could reliably knock off skyhammer were either noobs, or people that you outplayed/outwitted. “put an emphasis on positioning and skillful play.” This does the exact opposite, it deludes play, and allows people with poor positioning to wander around like chickens with their heads cut off, and not get penalized as much for it. It makes it so that unskilled players with poor situational awareness can get away with it.
If people don’t get penalized for the mistakes they make, in a game that wants to be in the competitive scene, they never learn (get better) and the skill base never gets higher. These kinds of changes only serve to hurt sPvP in the long run, and it will have a very hard time becoming an e-sport if we continue to have things like this happen.

Game was designed for 5v5, I’m going to say 5v5.
I think custom arenas should be allowed to do whatever they want.
This is sPvP, not a clown car: 10 people is the limit.
The only time overcrowding is permissible is when you’re trying to fit more than 1 girl on your bed.
Anything more than 5 should be removed. Only in custom arenas that people bought with gems it should be possible to have more than 5 per team.
Gooooooo 5v5! Hotjoin should teach players using tournament settings.
The algorithm seems slightly better, but there are still matches that are completely one sided. Part of this is because we are not putting level of entry for new people.
I don’t want to be matched against rank 6s and just steamroll them. Rank 1-20s should be in their own division.

….skillfully aim knockbacks ..
Not sure if serious…
The decision on this topic has yet to be made. Either Josh or myself can give an update when a decision is made. However let me ask this, would you guys like to see less 8v8 servers? no 8v8 servers? Possibly re-work the play now so that it looks for 5v5 matches as priority?
I prefer to shut down all ArenaNet-hosted 8v8 servers and fully support 5v5 hotjoin servers. The only 8v8 servers that would remain would originate from Custom Arenas.
Seriously? You put more stuff in pve and pvp community can’t kittening play while still getting nothing…
every. kittening. time.

This is one discussion we’ve had multiple times internally as of late. It’s tricky because 5v5 is much more plagued with autobalance issues than 8v8. We agree that 8v8 doesn’t teach players the type of PvP we wish to pass along to our youngsters but there are still surely players who enjoy it. I personally would like to see 8v8 removed but we might need to visit how hitting play now prioritizes matches that haven’t started.

I disagree wholeheartedly with this statement. Most of the time, a player is ether getting carried in an 8v8…
An option to be carried is (imo) a good thing when you are learning the basics of a game.
People learn differently and want to play different gamestyles.
…So most of the time it just becomes a spam-autoattack fest on the nearest downed opponent or blowing the cooldowns of all skills on said downed opponent….
Ok, sounds like an issue with the chaos of it all, but short of that, live and learn?
…It is far more beneficial to strip away all the noise and focus on what a character can do/bring in a fight….
You aren’t maximizing builds, you’re learning fundamentals. 8v8s are never the ideal place to work the kinks out of builds and get a good hand for the finesse of it all , but I never really said that it was, did I?
Less noise is good.
Chaos is the main draw back of 8v8 and what takes any perc GW2 could have gotten from them and turned it on its head (most other games manage larger fights much better).
That’s not entirely an issue with these conquest 8v8s, but also with overloaded devs or bad company structure, exc. not getting around to fixing the mess.
Actually, half our hot joins are setup to be 5v5, but due to a bug discovered today the 8v8 matches are being preferred incorrectly.
We’re talking about this internally, and we may be able to get this changed as soon as the 26th.
If only passion could be straight up turned into code, then this game would be updated twice daily and be esports yesterday.
If only…
I’m grateful for your rage-less and rational answer.

The debuff is not visible until your are unable to play. This is partly to prevent negative attitudes towards people who may have accidentally disconnected, and partly because we can’t hide your buffs/conditions for other people.
We are also lowering the amount of dishonor it takes before being unable to play so that it hits more of our playerbase. We watch the numbers closely and we feel that the dishonor system is currently too lenient to have an impact. The AFK timer will also be shortened so that it’s more strict.

also, theres a TON of other skins that are missing that could be implemented into pvp as well
Its not you, its anet leaving pvp players out to dry for one year and you are feeling their pent up frustration.
The Longbow’s autoattack for both Rangers and Warriors was far too slow for its damage. A few patches ago this was fixed for the Ranger but left alone for the Warrior. While the Longbow is still good in certain situations, it’s a poor choice for a primary weapon due mostly to Dual Shot’s pitiful DPS.
Please buff it by reducing the aftercast by .25 seconds like was done with Long Range Shot. That is all.
finally, thanks!
Hey guys,
As a reminder, this Tuesday we’ll be releasing changes to solo arena matchmaking, altering the way teams are formed. The algorithm works by sorting players by their MMR and then placing them into teams using a specific pattern. This will work toward eliminating two problems we currently have, 1) sync queuing, and 2) lopsided matches. This will work against sync queuing by removing an exploiter’s ability to control which team they are on, greatly increasing the risk to their MMR and leaderboard standing. This change should also do a great deal toward preventing lopsided matches by ensuring each team will have a mix of the highest and lowest rated players.
Since this is such a significant change to matchmaking we will be resetting everyone’s MMR and the PvP leaderboards on November 26th. We are waiting an additional two weeks to verify the changes are working as intended, to give the community the time to adjust, and to see how much of an impact the changes will have on match quality and fairness. This reset will also apply to team arena ratings, which have been affected by MMR issues in the recent past.
I look forward to seeing you in game!

@ multiple people who commented on progression, ala moba games: We agree. While I think that leveling up and acquiring items/skills/gold is core to moba games, I think we can do something different which fits an MMO. I think we can give you guys the cool aspects of an MMO + the some aspects of a moba which fit our game well.

Getting close. What discourages me personally is how slow they are with crucial fixes. If I was running A-net all my pvp resources would have been devoted to fixing solo q match making and 4 v5 and afk problem until it was done. To me for solo q matchmaking to basically be broke from August 2nd (I think thats when it went in)to most likely late December/January. Totally unacceptable 4-5 month time frame to ask people to deal with that garbage.
Working under a incompetent Management will stop you, my friend . . .
Greetings fellow GW2 players and dev’s.
I have a suggestion concerning a trait in the discipline line : Fast Hands
I was thinking about it while reading the patch notes preview for December the 10th.
Devs realised that the elementalist was too much dependant of the arcane tree line in order to swap elements.
They solved it by reducing the base element-swap cooldown untraited , and nerfing the trait line a bit.
I think this great idea should transfer to the warrior.
As you may know most of warriors pvp puilds out there go deep into discipline.
In fact nearly 100% of the warriors builds that were played in spvp since the start of the game had at least 20 points in discipline.
One of the reason is Fast Hand’s.
Fast Hands is mandatory if you want to adapt quickly .
And since warrior is the master of weapons, he should consequently be able switch a bit more often than the other classes.
For example :
Base CD without Fast Hand’s could be 8 (or 7) seconds
While Traited CD could stay at 5
This simple change could IMHO improve build diversity for warriors by removing the necessity of investing 15 to 20 points in a single but very important trait line.
Whil I agree with the changes being made to the warrior in the futur patch I would also like to see this concept implemented in the game.
Towards the community and the Dev’s :
Do you like the idea ? Could this, be implemented quickly ?
Do you fear it would be too strong ?
Do you have any other suggestions ?
Thank you for reading this to the end.
Best Regards
I really feel particle effects being over the top are holding back viewers.
Many of us have the same opinion, though I’m not sure which team has that as a work item, and at what priority.

What has happened to Gw2 becoming a Esport? Noone bothers even streaming spvp. The whole balancing of classes can be solved swiftly, if mods even read class forums and take into consideration some of the great suggestions provided there. This all reminds me of blizzard and their flavor of the month appeal in regards to classes. I want to know what anet has in store in regards to the whole Esport. For the love of the Charr gods give us /duel feature so we can have some actual fun in this game. Spvp duels are not alluring because of grievers.
Anet fix thief plz its boring now :(
Tired to wait for have just some contained in Spvp.
the only thing brainless is people refusing to learn how to deal with it. Nothing in this game takes all that much skill and when we talk warrior its the most straight forward class in the game and those same qualities work against it.
When you see a warrior there’s no surprises, you know exactly what he wants to do and you can approach the fight accordingly. But that’s not happening, people die with full endurance, with long range weapons fighting warriors point blank and ignoring any stances or boons that warrior happens to have running(ie all the people dumping condi on zerker stance warriors).
The hammer was capable of high dmg since launch, the big difference now is that hammer wasn’t popular(gs was all the rage) and a wave of new players that don’t want to learn counters but instead want to call for nerfs.
The sad part is that Dec 11 the forums will be full of a whole new batch of nerf threads featuring some other class or mechanic and the cycle will continue because as long as someone doesn’t want to learn how to deal with a build, except that hes being countered, except that he just needs to improve(who doesn’t need to improve?) or that he screwed up the river of tears will continue to flow.I wasnt OP, everyone else just sucked! Glad to see you’re building a bridge instead of adding tears to the river though oh wait
How can you help someone that just covers there ears and screams OP OP OP. OP is prob the most typed word on these forums. You had a few people that would try to post strats around here and I would try to help people in game but it doesn’t matter because any useful information would get drowned out by the whining. Nothing is never my fault, if it kills me its op.
I’ve played other games with communities that were all about tactics and theory crafting(a lot of fighting games) and your average player was a lot stronger because of it. But look around these forums and its easy to understand why you see so many weaker players running around getting blown up by things people understood how to deal with a year ago. Is it laziness? Is it a weak pvp community? is it the devs? Im gonna go with all the above.
and the great nerfwars rages on.
How can you be heard, when you get a “l2p” as reply (it is just as common as “OP”)?
Seriously … do you recall, back when thieves could instagib someone from 100% due to Mug+CnD+BS? I didn’t really die to that 1vs1 with all my cd’s up .. but as soon, as that changed a tiny bit I was insta-gibbed (on almost every class). Yet many thieves defended that for ages … really (just an example .. could have taken ele’s as well).
If people just acknowledged what was brainless, unfun, etc., it would be a LOT easier to communicate. One would think, that it would be with the easy access to all classes, but it isn’t so: People still feel some class is “their class”, and kitten feels threatened if it is nerfed; hence the bias, hence the rage.
Now … in the next patch I see boonwar … I hope some more classes will be able to boonstrip :-S
current warrior isn’t instagibing like old thief and neither is it super tanky like old ele was. Warrior is no where near those two builds.

1 ) Just out of curiosity do you play warrior ?
if yes : When did you decide to play warrior class ?
if no : What class do you play ?2 ) How long you been playing pvp?
3 ) Do you seriously think warrior is balanced compared to other characters ?
If you answer these questions , we can see how reliable your opinion is.
awaiting your answers….
I’ve played nothing but warrior since launch with all of my time invested into pvp(both wvw and spvp). also would like to note that hammer has always been my main weapon.
im gonna come back and answer #3 for you later on, I don’t have enough to time to give you enough of an explanation.
edit
ok, now for # 3. Is warrior balanced compared to other classes. Good way to answer is with another question. Do setups, counters and tactics exist to fight the warrior? Yes. Tactics are the issue here. You would be in shock if you saw how many times I have killed other players that either spam dodges randomly or never dodge, totally ignore any boons or stances(ie trying to condi bomb zerker stance) or my all time favorite fight me point blank with ranged weapons. I hate to say it but that’s the problem.
Yes necro is countered by the meta build but all that means is that necro is fighting from a disadvantage, not a free kill for warrior. Any fighting game player out there is familiar with the idea of fighting bad matchups and the only way to really combat this is with information.
Warrior is a very straight forward class and that also makes it VERY predictable. This is something that everyone should have been exploiting. You see a hamm warr coming and you noe exactly what im doing and you should be playing it accordingly. Details are what make the difference. Like hammer animations, the fact that zerker stance can be hit with CC(this is very effective) or even better just look at the some of the popular builds and see what they got. I try my best to approach anything I play the same way. If something is killing me I stop and think what im doing maybe look it up and 9/10 I see instant improvement.
And then we have an even simpler strategy. Your build doesn’t do well for whatever reason or you just don’t like fighting warr? hit ctrl t and let ur teammates focus fire him out of the game.

I’m just really confused why they’re going after hammer damage and not healing signet.
What´s your problem with healing signet? You know, wars have no port, no stealth, no blink blink …
